ANTON
I swore I was done with wanting things.
Done with trust. Done with hope. Done with pretending a man like me gets more than survival.
Then Freya Johnson walked into my life—curious, relentless, too young for me, and completely off-limits. I was her mentor. Her safe place.
The one man who knew better than to touch her.
And I didn’t.
Not until she left for the LAPD.
Not until one night blew straight through every line I’d drawn.
I never meant for that night to change anything.
But it changed everything.
The line I drew is now two pink ones, and when she comes back to Echo Valley—taking a quieter desk job while we try to figure out next steps—every boundary I’ve built starts to crack.
Because being her friend, her co-parent, her roommate… none of it touches the truth of what I want when I look at her.
And when she becomes the lead officer on a case no one can quite explain, when something dangerous starts circling closer than she realizes, it isn’t just instinct that locks tight inside my chest.
It’s possession.
It’s fear.
It’s the knowledge that she’s already mine, whether I’ve told her or not.
I should step back.
Wanting her is the fastest way to lose myself again.
But if this threat reaches her first, it won’t just cost me control.
It will cost me the one thing I never planned to risk again.

Thanks to Grey’s Promotions for providing the eARC. This is my honest opinion.

Secrets and Scars in Echo Valley

‘Crimson Refuge’ is the fourth book in the Echo Valley series and it is strongly recommended to read the series in order, as the character relationships and backstories build on previous events and are best understood from the beginning. The story is set in a small town full of secrets, with danger always lurking nearby, and the main characters carry emotional scars that shape their choices. Sienna Judd blends romance and suspense in a way that makes this book easy to get lost in, especially for readers who enjoy character-driven tension and emotional depth.

The dual third-person perspective alternates between the two main characters, giving a close look at their thoughts and feelings while building their connection naturally. Judd’s writing style is smooth and accessible, keeping the focus on emotions and relationships while weaving in suspense and romantic tension.

Some twists may feel familiar to genre readers, and the story is not a shocking surprise, but overall, ‘Crimson Refuge’ is an engaging and emotional read that delivers what it promises: romantic suspense with heart. A solid installment that keeps fans of the series invested.

Crimson Refuge is book 4 in the Echo Valley series. I have been so excited for Anton’s book since he was introduced in book 1! His character is everything I hoped he’d be👏🏼

Anton and Freya’s dynamic intrigued me from the start. The tension was palpable but I loved the way they built their mutual respect & friendship first. As a rookie cop Freya was trying stand on her own, but Anton was always there if she needed to fall back on someone. I love an MMC who supports and bolsters a badass FMC.

Anton thooo he’s a jack of all trades. He cooks, he’s good with his hands and that mouth?! WOW😅🥵

The mystery kept me hooked while the tension between Anton & Freya had me yearning for the moment they finally gave in again.

I loved these two so much! Thank you Sienna and Grey’s promo for the arc.

Anton & Freya were so damn cute!!! I loved their chemistry & how they just could not help their gravitation towards each other

Anton was such a loverrr boy despite being the ultimate protector; the way he just read Freya so easily & knew exactly what she needed. Also the constant cooking for her made me swoooon; I love an acts of service type man 👏🏻😮‍💨

Freya was so headstrong & brave!! I think she let her past control her in the beginning, but was able to forge her own future with Anton which was so fun to see unfold

The found family vibes were truly unmatched & I’m super excited for it to continue in Devoted Keeper, the next book in the Echo Valley series 👀🤞🏻🤭

ARC REVIEW
i’ve been reading Sienna Judd for a while now, and if there’s one thing i know, it’s that she can write a deeply emotional story that always keeps me hooked.

since we met anton, i always hoped we’d get his story, and this one did NOT disappoint. i love the accidental pregnancy trope, and the second anton finds out, his protective instincts lock tf in.

anton and freya’s story is so grounded in a vulnerable, healing, deep love and partnership, and its really beautiful to watch it develop, while they’re also navigating becoming parents.

special mention to the crib scene and the scan scene, they had me tearing up, they were SO GOOD.

excited to see what happens when we return to echo valley for rio’s story

thank you to Grey’s Promo & Sienna Judd for this ARC :)

Crimson Refuge was such an easy read!! I could NOT put the book down. Anton gives a little insight to his past relationships and watching him get his happy ending is a full circle moment. Freya is a strong, confident FMC that is searching for a place in her new career and how to balance impending motherhood. The romantic build between Anton and Freya was chef’s kiss and had equal parts sweet, romantic and protective. Anton will do anything to protect Freya and their child especially when she is working a case that comes with lots of unsolved corners.

My favorite book of the series so far. Anton and Freya give us a great story. The story pulled me in, and the characters kept me reading. The protector vibe, with suspense and danger are always a plus for me. Make it a small town and I am in.

The chemistry between Anton and Freya is perfect, and the slow build due to his feeling he should not be with her works beautifully. Add in the emotional rollercoaster the secrets, and the steam, I was hooked.

This book can stand alone, but I recommend the series in order to get the most of each book.

Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

Dangerous, intimate, and lowkey addictive. The whole vibe is “this is supposed to be safe” while everything underneath is quietly sharpening its teeth. The chemistry is intense, the tension stays tight, and the emotional pull sneaks up like a hand at the small of your back. He thinks he shouldn’t be with her but is helpless to resist is brilliantly done. And of course, the accidental pregnancy angle is always a win. ❤️

Crimson Refuge was my first Sienna Judd book and… yeah. I’m officially late to the party because HOLY FUCK, I was hooked from page one.

This is the fourth installment in the Echo Valley series, and even jumping in fresh, I never once felt lost. Judd drops you straight into a story that grabs emotionally, romantically and plot-wise but refuses to let go.

Freya is a newly graduated LAPD officer, smart, driven, and quietly haunted by the pull she’s always felt toward her mentor, Anton. Echo Valley is home, but Anton is the reason she fell in love with police work in the first place. Their dynamic? Years of restraint, tension, unspoken want, and lines that absolutely should not be crossed.

Anton is… everything you want from an alpha hero done right. Older, controlled, burdened by his past, and convinced he only deserves survival not happiness. Ex-SEAL, vigilante-adjacent, woodworker with rough hands and rougher edges. Protective to the point of obsession, but never shallow about it. His internal battle between wanting Freya and believing he’s poison to her is deliciously painful.

One night changes everything. And then? Consequences.

The accidental pregnancy trope is handled with so much emotional weight here. No insta-fix, no easy answers—just two people trying to figure out who they are to each other while a very real danger circles closer. The suspense plot is tightly woven, genuinely unsettling, and when the twists hit… they hit. I did not see that coming.

What really sold this book for me was the relationship itself. Freya and Anton’s connection is raw, messy, deeply emotional, and charged with tension. The slow burn after the fact somehow hurts more than the initial explosion. Every look, every almost-touch, every moment of restraint feels intentional and earned.

This book is angsty, intense, sexy, and emotionally grounded. The “touch her and die” energy is STRONG, the age gap works, and the small-town setting adds an extra layer of intimacy and danger.

An absolute banger of a read. I’m 100% going back to read the previous books in this series.

Thank you to Grey’s Promotions for the e-ARC, and congratulations to Sienna Judd on the upcoming release (February 12th). Crimson Refuge made me a fan, no hesitation.

If you like your romance dark-edged, emotionally intense, and impossible to put down… this one’s calling your name. 🔥

There’s something especially appealing about a hero like Anton, and he completely stole my heart in this story. At 6’5” and the build to match, the former Navy SEAL had an undeniable physical presence, but it’s his gentle, protective nature that really makes him stand out however you are left with little doubt that if danger appeared, he’d be the first to step in front of it without hesitation or thought for his own safety. What makes his character even more compelling, though, is the emotional weight he carries. Anton doesn’t believe he deserves love or happiness, particularly not with someone younger like Freya Johnson. Freya, meanwhile, has plans that will take her away from Echo Valley and toward a new career with the LAPD. What begins as a no strings attached goodbye quickly becomes more complicated when that one night has life-changing consequences. When she returns to Echo Valley to figure out what comes next, they’re both forced to confront what they truly want and whether or not there’s any real chance of building a future together. But when Freya finds herself in danger, Anton doesn’t hesitate to step in, proving just how deeply he cares, no matter how much he might struggle to admit it.

The small-town setting added a really effective layer to the story for me. There’s something about a place where everyone knows each other that should feel comforting, but that same familiarity can feel more intense and, at times, more unsettling than the anonymity of a big city. When danger threatens, strangers may stand out but by the same turn you look at your neighbours differently and secrets are harder to hide and blending that with a slow-burn romance is a winning combination that works for me every time. Crimson Refuge is my first book in the Echo Valley series and, although each book is billed as a standalone, this author does recommend reading them in release order. and I did get the feeling I might have missed some of the earlier buildup, those subtle moments of tension and glances that likely been in the background of the previous books Even so, Anton and Freya’s relationship still felt believable, and I liked that they didn’t rush into a commitment purely because of the pregnancy. Instead, they allow their connection to grow at a natural pace, taking the time to decide whether what they have could truly last.

This one is all about suspense as much as it is heart and heat! I have loved the Echo Valley series starting with Enzo & Ava’s story. This series packs in thrilling plot, emotional growth, and the perfect dashes of steam.

Freya is brand new to the LAPD when she finds out that her one night stand from 6 weeks ago resulted in a positive pregnancy test. Now she’s back in Echo Valley figuring out how to co-parent with the man she has been in love with for years and solve a case where things haven’t been adding up. Freya is the kind of FMC you can easily relate to. She’s just trying to prove her worth and find her place in the world.

Anton is the dictionary definition for German Shepard boyfriend: loyal, protective, and devoted. I loved his character so much; he is so perfect for Freya because he supported her in every way possible. The man listened to audio books on pregnancy and babies, he hand made the crib, and took care of Freya at all times.

“She has no idea how easy it would be for me to burn the whole damn world down for her and the little life we made without meaning to.”

Loved the tension and slow burn between Anton and Freya as they navigated their relationship. Both were patient, kind, and considerate. The spice was well thought out and I loved their chemistry. Anton was an absolute goner for Freya, but kept his emotions locked down until he just couldn’t hold back anymore. Freya found safety and comfort with Anton, she knew he would always be there for her.

“Held against him, warm and spent, I feel something I never expected to feel so easily—content. This man. This baby. This home.”

Seeing the relationship grow as the stakes of the case got higher was enthralling. I couldn’t wait to see what happened next on the case and between Anton and Freya. Every chapter continued to build suspense and the foundation of their relationship. The plot twist at the end was not what I was expecting. The HEA for these two was just perfect, seeing Anton as a daddy was hot and Freya sure thought so too!

“You’re my true north now.”

Crimson Refuge is perfect for lovers of romantic suspense, accidental pregnancy, and forced proximity! I loved Anton & Freya; sucked in by the plot and stayed for the love story.

A huge thank you to Grey’s Promotions and Sienna Judd for the early copy!

If you’ve been here a while, you know I love Sienna’s books and always recommend them, and this one is no exception. I was actually sad I couldn’t apply for the ARC because life was hectic, but honestly? The wait was worth it.

Anton and Freya met in the previous book and felt instant attraction, but she was off-limits. She leaves for the LAPD Academy and returns to Echo Valley to celebrate graduating… and that night changes everything. One positive pregnancy test later, their lives are permanently tied together. Freya transfers to Echo Valley and stays with Anton while they figure things out. They’re technically just friends, but the tension and chemistry between them? Impossible to ignore.

I knew I would love Anton, but not like this. That man was all in from the moment she told him. Being a father was something he always wanted but couldn’t have in his previous marriage, so this meant everything to him. He takes care of Freya, cooks for her, and shows up whenever she needs him. His protectiveness over her, and their baby, was everything.

Freya is strong, independent, and constantly trying to prove herself. She struggles with self-doubt, but Anton helps her see her worth. Watching her slowly believe in herself was beautiful. She’s also working a dangerous case, which terrifies Anton, but he still supports her, and I loved that about him.

Their romance was heartwarming, emotional, and so satisfying to watch unfold. The spice? Let’s just say Anton’s dirty mouth was delicious. 😮‍💨 He worships her, makes her feel confident in her skin, and I loved that for her.

The suspense plot kept me hooked the whole time, and the side characters (plus past couples) added so much to the story. I did miss Luis in this one, but I loved seeing more of Ava & Rio.

The pregnancy element was handled beautifully. Anton never hesitated, he stepped up immediately and never wavered. The found family aspect was also amazing, especially after how long he’d been alone. He’s such a softhearted MMC beneath his fears. I mean… this man built their baby a crib and even left his job so he could fully show up for them. 🥹 Every time he calls her honey? SWOON. I’m a sucker for a good nickname.

I loved this book and am already counting down for Rio’s story. I’m so intrigued by his past and can’t wait to learn more. If you love small-town romantic suspense, definitely add this series to your TBR.

I honestly don’t know how to describe this book other than absolutely phenomenal. The tension, the emotional connection between the characters, the mystery and suspense, and the way it lays the groundwork for the next book in the series were all so expertly done.

Freya and Anton quickly became friends while working together as PIs, and it was Anton who encouraged Freya to attend the Police Academy. Now that she’s graduated and preparing for her life in LA, she’s still very much drawn to Anton. One night of “getting it out of their system” turns into a surprise pregnancy—connecting them for far longer than either of them expected 🤭

These two were clearly always meant to be together—there was never any doubt. I loved how naturally their story unfolded. They built a strong friendship and maintained it while figuring out their individual paths. Their connection ran far deeper than physical attraction, and I was completely captivated by them.

Freya’s insecurities were portrayed beautifully and with so much authenticity—not just as a woman, but as a woman of color. It was handled realistically without feeling heavy or depressing, and I loved how Freya never allowed those insecurities to dim her spirit.

Anton being emotionally self-aware and deeply understanding of Freya was incredibly wholesome. He knew exactly how to push her to become the best version of herself—while holding himself to the same standard. And the way he took accountability when it mattered? So attractive.

The mystery and suspense were top-tier. Sienna has an incredible talent for weaving suspense seamlessly into the romance, creating a story that truly grips you from start to finish.

Overall, this was a beautifully written story with the perfect balance of spice and plot. I adored Freya and Anton, and I cannot wait for Rio’s story next! 💕📚

✨ARC REVIEW✨ 5⭐️ I COULD NOT PUT THIS ONE DOWN!! Freya is ready to start her next step in life on the LAPD. That is until she finally gives into the connection she has with Anton and their one night together ends up being so much more than they ever bargained for. Now Freya is pregnant and back in Echo Valley. Anton has been through so much in his life and has given up on creating the family he always wanted. Now is his chance and he wasn’t to be there every step of the way. They started as friends and Freya knows they can’t be anything more for the sake of their baby. But Freya ends up looking into a case in Echo Valley that doesn’t seem as cut and dry as it’s made out to be. Danger could be lurking at any corner and the deeper in she gets the more she finds herself wanting on person to keep her safe…Anton. But can she fall without fear of crashing? Will she finally give their relationship the chance it deserves? Or will they end up breaking each other?

I have enjoyed this series so far but holy cow this book had me HOOKED! I was on the edge of my seat from day one of Freya reopening the case. I had my theories and my suspects and I couldn’t get enough of all the twists and turns. But no I still didn’t guess correctly! I was up and pacing back and forth at the end because I couldn’t sit still through it all. There was just something so special about Freya and Anton and their relationship. Anton is the protector of all protectors and after everything that happened to him I can understand why he needs to keep the people he loves close and safe. It made my heart so happy to see them break down each other’s walls and finally give in to everything they ever wanted. Just SO SO GOOD!! A must read!!!

Crimson Refuge was such an emotional, tension-filled return to Echo Valley. Anton and Freya’s story had been building for a while, and it absolutely delivered on the slow-burn, protective-hero angst I was hoping for.

Anton is the definition of tortured restraint. He swore he was done wanting more than survival, done hoping for something softer, then Freya walks back into his life carrying far more than just unresolved feelings. The accidental pregnancy trope can sometimes feel messy, but here it adds so much depth to their dynamic. The weight of their history, the mentor-turned-something-more tension, and the forced proximity is so good.

Freya is such a strong FMC. She’s a rookie cop trying to prove herself, navigating danger, motherhood, and complicated feelings all at once. I loved that she wasn’t written as fragile. Even when she’s overwhelmed, she stands her ground. And Anton? The man is down bad in that quiet, possessive, “touch her and die” kind of way. He wants to step back for her own good, but the second she’s in danger, all bets are off.

The romantic suspense element kept the pacing tight. The mystery isn’t overly shocking, but it does exactly what it needs to. It raised the stakes and pushed Anton and Freya together in ways they can’t ignore. The emotional beats are where this story really shines. There’s so much longing, so much unspoken history, and so much vulnerability beneath Anton’s stoic exterior.

This one felt intimate, emotional, and deeply character-driven. Echo Valley continues to be such a compelling backdrop for stories about wounded people finding refuge in each other and I’m already excited to see who’s next. 💛

I’m so excited to see Anton get everything he deserves! Having met him in book one of this series I had been not so patiently waiting for his book. I love a good accidental pregnancy trope but this was the first time I’ve read it in a romantic suspense and I just loved it. We get another fun layer of MMC protectiveness when not only is his girl at risk but his baby too, yes please!

Freya has just completed all her training and started working at the LAPD. Only with a slight complication, that one hot night, the night of her party celebrating her new job, the night Anton congratulated her, yeah that night ended with her being pregnant. Moving back to Echo Valley to be on desk duty hadn’t exactly been her plan, but here she is doing paperwork, until she stumbles upon a past case with things that just don’t add up.

With Anton's encouragement she digs into the case, proving it wasn’t an accidental drunk driving case but possibly a repeat offender with other murders under his belt. As if navigating a potential murderer while pregnant wasn’t enough on her plate Freya also has the added complexities of figuring out her relationship with Anton. Are they destined to be friends who co parent? Or are they both willing to take the risk to be together?

This book was so fun. Such a good balance of sweet romantic moments, with fierce protectiveness and some good old fashioned nail biting. I was on the edge of my seat more than a few times. Buckle up this book with take you through all the emotions!

This is the fourth book in the Echo Valley series. This is my first book in this series and by this author. I decided to read it because the blurb appealed to me. An older man mentors a young woman and falls in love, sounds angsty (my fav). Well Anton did indeed mentor, guide and help Freya achieve her goal of becoming an officer. The night before her big move to work in L.A. Freya gets intoxicated and Anton decides to stay and assist her. But in the morning these two become intimate, although both know it won’t go any further. Anton has been married and hurt and although he wants children he’s not sure when or if it will ever happen. Meanwhile Freya is just beginning her career as an officer but she is quickly derailed when she discovers she is pregnant. Freya decides to tell Anton who is all in and move back home to their small town to raise the baby together. Freya transfers to the station in her town and while on desk duty she begins to notice some irregularities in a case file that the town wants closed. Suddenly Freya is investigating and looking for answers, luckily for her Anton has back because someone in that town isn’t happy with her investigation. Great love story between theses two characters. I loved how they handled this pregnancy. As an avid reader I get so upset when the female character does not inform the male character of the pregnancy and hides it. Although this is a standalone I think reading the previous books may help the reader understand what’s going on.

Crimson Refuge delivered exactly the kind of immersive fantasy escape I was craving — and I have to say, this was my first Sienna Judd book and I absolutely loved it. If this is the standard she sets, I’ll definitely be reading more from her.

From the first page, Judd weaves a world that feels both expansive and intimate. What captivated me most was how the refuge—both literal and metaphorical—drives the heart of the story. The characters aren’t just running from danger; they’re running toward something deeper: redemption, belonging, and the chance to rewrite their futures.

The worldbuilding is atmospheric without being overwhelming, and the pacing kept me fully invested. The balance between high-stakes action and emotional depth worked so well, and the character relationships felt authentic and earned. I especially appreciated how the emotional arcs unfolded alongside the external conflict—it made everything hit harder.

There were a few moments where I wanted slightly more clarity around the lore and magic system, but it didn’t take away from my overall enjoyment. If anything, it made me even more curious to continue the series.

Overall, Crimson Refuge was gripping, emotional, and such a strong introduction to Sienna Judd’s writing for me. I’m officially a fan and can’t wait to see where she takes this world next. 📚✨

I’ve read a few books by this author and they are great reads. This book starts off really slow, frustratingly slow for me, but around the 30% mark the storyline kicks up into something much more intense, suspenseful.

I read the first book in this series and then somehow missed the next two books, and this book had some mentions that had me a little unsure what I missed. However it wasn’t enough to detract from my enjoyment. I’m just know certain I want to read book 2 & 3 in the series ASAP.

This storyline has suspense, a mystery and the intense connection between Anton and Freya. Both are a little unsure about opening themselves up to a relationship. Anton is so patient and protective of Freya and has sexy daddy vibes.

The change from LAPD to Exho Valley brings an unexpected nearly cold case that Freya has her gut telling her not to go with the flow to close it. That decision brings so much more than she expects!

I loved the last 60% of this book and think the slow beginning gives readers a chance to get acquainted with the characters and their connections before things really get cooking.

I’m super eager to read Rio’s book, and to go back and read the two books I missed.

I received a free ARC from the author and Grey’s PR; and I am voluntarily leaving an unbiased review.

Small Town murder mystery with a slow burn romance between mentor and mentee. You also get an age gap and interracial relationship. Oh how intoxicating this read was.

Freya was basically a Valkyrie. She stood up for a murder victim that everyone wrote off, and she didn't let up even when she was in danger. Not to mention she's pregnant during this entire thing. She's my hero.

Anton is her Adonis. When you read about him and see his POV, you may very week agree....but he's also this protective alpha romantic chef dreamy daddy material. The way he cares for her, SEES her, and respects her. 🤌🏽

🫶🏽 Lines:
Small town, big whispers. Nobody wants to say it out loud.

Everything is straightforward in Rio's mind. He's like a hard-a•• Latino Yoda: Do or do not. There is no try.

If we can't celebrate miracles anymore, this world is more broken than I thought.

Ordinary where I'm ordinary. Flawed where I'm flawed. I want to be exactly who I am and have that be enough. And somewhere along the way, trying to earn my place in the world, I forgot that I'm allowed to simply exist.

❣️ God must be a woman because I've never met a man able to think of so many epic things at once and handle them with grace. ❣️

Time doesn't give us anything back once it's gone.

Holy Guacamole! 🥵

Anton and Freya wrecked me in the best way possible.

"This baby and I need something that holds, even if everything shifts."

And oh boy, does her life shift.. both their lives.
After having gotten to know Freya and Anton throughout the Echo Valley series a little bit, I was sooo eager for this book and their story and it did not disappoint. 🥰😍
Both Freya and Anton have heavy demons to fight with themselves and in the process they get to know each other better under crazy circumstances - a baby on the way and a mysterious case on Freya's desk at the police station.

I loved the mystery of Zoe's death and the whole investigation and Freya's insistence to dig deeper and to never give up. Freya is such a boss babe.
And Anton is her confidante and shadow, always near to support and worship her. 🤩

This man got my heart. He does not understand what unconditional romantic love for him feels like until Freya.
He has Ava's unconditional love as her "fun" bruncle but Freya is melting these walls around Anton's heart.

I LOVED this book and these characters and can't wait what's in store for the next Mendez brother.. 😅😎🤩

I really enjoyed Crimson Refuge. I already liked Anton and Freya from the earlier books, so I was excited going in, but I wasn’t prepared for how invested I’d actually get. I normally fly through books, and this one was such an easy read.

Freya is finally starting her career with the LAPD. Everything’s lining up for her until one night with Anton that they both swore wouldn’t complicate anything, obviously complicates everything. The pregnancy storyline wasn't written with dramatic flare just for the sake of it. It felt like a reality check that they just couldn’t avoid anymore. It forced them to actually talk and actually deal with the tension between them that has been building for a while. When they finally stop pretending it’s nothing, everything is incredible. The chemistry is there and the emotions are on point.

Anton’s intense and protective with that whole quiet and controlled ex-SEAL energy, where you just know he’d handle things if something went wrong. But what I liked is that he doesn’t bulldoze Freya and try to control things. He lets her do her job and supports her without taking over. That balance made their relationship feel mature. Freya really impressed me too. She trusts her gut when something about her case doesn’t sit right, even when it would be easier to let it go. She dug into that investigation while also figuring out her relationship and preparing for a baby which was stressful in the best way.

This whole book just worked. The romance, the danger, and the small-town dynamics were fantastic. I normally don't love the surprise pregnancy trope, but this is definitely one of my favorite books in the series!

Anton and Freya's tension and connection was palpable in book 3 in this series and it carried over into this book! I could not get enough of their chemistry! I loved the dynamic between them. Starting off as a mentorship with ride alongs and then moving onto friends and then more. Freya was an amazing FMC! She is independent and fierce and someone you want in your corner! I loved the protectiveness and calmness Anton brings to Freya. Anton is everything you want in an MMC and then when Freya tells him about the pregnancy, he gets even better!! Everything he did was for Freya and the baby and it just made my heart melt! Anton being an ex navy seal and Freya being a rookie cop there was a lot of room for Anton to over step but he never did! He knew what Freya was capable of and pushed her to believe in herself the way he did! The character and emotional growth in this was incredible! And once the suspense hit I could not put this down! I enjoyed this one so much!

-Mentor x Rookie
-Accidental Pregnancy
-Ex Navy Seal MMC
-Rookie Cop FMC
-Romantic Suspense
-Curvy FMC
-Touch her and die

Crimson refuge is book 4 of the Echo Valley series and I absolutely devoured it!

Anton has been such a pivotal character since book 1 and I was genuinely excited when I heard this book was about him!

And let’s just say he did not disappoint. Easily one of the more mature MMCs I’ve read about. This man knows what and who he wants and he goes for it. He can cook, cleans, bake and is handy with his hands? Say less! Igenuinely loved how much he enjoyed taking care of Freya!

Freya is a strong and independent woman who absolutely steps up when it comes to chasing her goals. We got to know her during book 3 and I love that we got to know her better!

I seriously loved how mature these two characters were and the little drama we experienced from them, especially when it came to their unplanned pregnancy. It was so nice to see them working together and putting egos aside! I know unplanned pregnancy trope can be a challenge, but Sienna crushed it!

I honestly love this series and I can’t wait for Rio’s book!

What to expect:
✨Rookie x Mentor
✨Unplanned pregnancy
✨Romantic Suspense
✨Small town
✨Touch her and D!e
✨Alpa Hero

I have received this book as ARC, I havent read any others of the series. I was coming in blind. It was a great Standalone, but I bet it will be absolutely amazing in folowing the Series. Also, this was my first book with the author too. I will be definitely reading more from Sienna Judd!
Freya following her dreams becoming a Police Officer, she receives a position at LAPD. But at her celebration party she finally had her one night stand with the guy she been crushing on. But also keeping their friendship. Six weeks in LAPD, she looks down and find to lines on a pregnant test...
Anton is EX - SEAL, now working with his friends with stakeholders out and catching spouses cheating. He was running late to his friends celebration party. He gets there and finally can breathe easier by seeing her. Noticing she was very drunk, he made sure she got back to her hotel room safely and stayed up with her while she got sick in the bathroom.. when she woke up the next morning, seeing her beautiful face...

💙ARC Review💙
Crimson Refuge
By Sienna Judd

This is the best kind of emotionally tortured restraint. It gave me, “I don’t deserve her but she’s already mine” vibes. The age gap and mentor tropes were everything I’d hoped they’d be and when those two little pink lines show up? Consider the fuse lit.

The protectiveness isn’t just possessive chest growls (though, yes please 🥵), it’s rooted in fear, vulnerability, and a man who swore he’d never want anything ever again but going a head and risking everything anyway.

Add consider my pearls clutched with the slow burn, tension, and the co-parenting.

Sienna delivered angst, heart, and a hero who falls the hardest when he least expects it. Absolute five-star emotional chaos.

Thank you so much to Grey’s Promotions and Sienna Judd for providing me with this book to read and review! 💗

Sienna has done it again! I loved Anton and Freya’s story, the tension between them and the evident love had me swooning. This series just gets better and better for me, this book felt so natural and the element of the suspense had me second guessing everything.

The yearning between the two of them had me screaming, I loved that they were older characters that held such passion for one another. I couldn’t put the book down. I was a big fan of our girl Freya’s job and her determination with her case. I love an accidental pregnancy and this landed perfectly. It was exactly what I needed.

The mystery in this had me gasping, you think you know something but then you find out something new, this had me gripped. I loved the romance but the suspense kept me needing more. This book was such a good read and I can’t wait to see what’s coming next!!

Thank you so much Sienna for this arc and this incredible series!!

Crimson Refuge is a small-town romance, and is fourth book in the series, Echo valley. I will be very honest, it did get me time to get into book as characters and set-up was unfamiliar to me because it's part of a series and I haven't read previous books, so the reference to previous parts felt unfamiliar to me but as I kept on going, it got better. Predictable, but better.

First of all, I loved Freya so much. I really enjoy books with plus-sized characters and Freya had so much personality and didn't feel like oh, she's flowerpot character. Anton also has interesting and developing character and I enjoyed both of theirs's chemistry. Alpha vibe with forced proximity is in one of my top genres and well this book has both of them.

Overall, the book is romantic suspense which at times is easy to guess, predictable but will still hold you gripped in story till end.

Omg I absolutely loved Freya and Anton! This is probably my favorite so far in this series. Their story had both characters grow and I loved watching Freya become who she was meant to be. I know this was a mentor/rookie relationship but I also so it as a friendship to lovers and it was so well done. Absolutely beautiful and I truly was surprised by the twist and turns in this book. It’s just so refreshing reading a book and truly not knowing how the bad guy is. I think Freya is the my first FMC cop I’ve ever read and she definitely won’t be the last I absolutely loved it.
All around just a get story.

“She trusts me. Her confession shifts something inside me. We can call it what we want, but Freya and that baby inside her are mine to protect. Mine.”

“His arms are security themselves. Safety. Home.”

❤️‍🔥Protective MMC who actually listens.
❤️‍🔥Slow burn that hurts a little.
❤️‍🔥A FMC finding her voice.

Anton and Freya had me emotionally invested from start to finish. This felt like watching a movie in book form. The suspense is paced really well and stays tense and visual throughout. I could clearly picture every scene playing out, and the sense of danger is always present without feeling rushed or overwhelming.

Anton and Freya’s relationship grounds the story emotionally, which makes the suspense hit harder. Anton is protective in a calm, controlled way, and Freya’s growth feels natural and earned. I liked how the book balanced high-stakes moments with quieter scenes that let their connection deepen.

By the end, it felt cinematic and satisfying, like the kind of story you binge because you need to know how it all plays out.

Another banger 🔥

This is the fourth book in this impressive series, and this is Freya and Anton’s story.
Anton is done with everything until he meets Freya, and there are sparks between them, but he knows nothing can happen as he is her mentor and her safe place, until they give into temptation before she leaves for LAPD. Surprising consequences have Freya coming back to town for a desk job, but when she notices some irregularities, she is in danger.
This is a well written story which is a slow burn, with found family, friendships, emotions, tension, danger, suspense, intrigue, trust issues, touch her and die vibes, forced proximity, accidental pregnancy, undeniable chemistry, and love which leads to an entertaining, twisted, and unpredictable, addictive page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
