Seriously amazing mafia reading!!!
tempˈteɪ.ʃən temptation(n.) “the desire to have or do something, esp. something wrong, or something that causes this desire: [ U ] It’s not easy to resist temptation.”
With the release of THE TEMPTATION, Author J.L. Perry has written a seriously amazing mafia story that I loved even more than my previous favourite books featuring the Mancini Famiglia mafia. Each book stands on it's own merits, but I highly recommend reading THE DEAL and THE PROPOSAL first where you get to meet Alexander Mancini who disowned his mafia roots, Dante, his younger brother and Don of the Mancini Famiglia, and in THE TEMPATION we hear from Dante’s Capo, Romeo De Luca, and his sister-in-law, Lucia Rossi.
Lucia Rossi was a legend!!! She has to be one of the most kooky enigmatic female characters that I have read in a long time and I absolutely and completely adored her. While her character was certainly spirited and eccentric, I truly believe she was a quiet achiever. She loooooved spicy romance books and impulsively voiced her inner thoughts which provided many comedic moments, but she was quietly goal-driven and once she had a target in mind, it never occurred to her to fail. She had her eye on the prize and everything within her just knew she was going to hold it within her hot little hands. I truly admired her tenacity.
Romeo De Luca might be Capo of the Mancini Famiglia, but he was no match for the temptress who was going to make him all hers. She’d conquered the heart of his viscious guard dog, his men and little did she know, she'd shoe-horned her way into his. Lucia's love of hot romance and the fictional book boyfriends who were the muse for all manner of her filthy thoughts was soon a bone of contention and in no way did he think he would ever think he'd desire to perpetrate acts of violence onto book characters! This provided no end of laughs throughout the book.
Ms Perry turned the possessive trope on it's head. Romeo may have possessively announced Lucia as his even as her refused to claim her entirely believing himself not to be worthy of her but she was the sister-in-law of his Famiglia's Don! Little did he know, however, that she'd already decided that she was claiming him, and she was going to get him, ready or not. She made no secret that she possessively viewed Romeo as hers, and hers alone.
As with the preceding Mancini mafia books, THE TEMPTATION is not your typical ‘dark mafia' romance. Our heroes are definitely on the morally grey side of the law, but these this series of books from Ms Perry are very heavy on the romance. The chemistry, longing and tension between these two was dam near a character unto itself!
Ms Perry pulled together a number of romance tropes and made them work beautifully. A 13-year-Age-Gap, the Sunny-Grumpy clash of personalities, the Possessive-Alpha-Hole who pretty much demanded a Secret-Fake-Marriage to place Lucia under his protection. More tropes than you can shake a stick at and it was perfect.
Seriously, THE TEMPATATION was a book that I read as soon as it hit my kindle and I couldn't put it down and I've read it twice already. Also, I’m definitely going to have it in paperback as well. In fact, it's one that I highly recommend to all those who love the aforementioned tropes and it deserves more than 5-tempting-mafia-princess-Stars 🖤💛✦

Romeo & Lucia are addictive
If you're a fan of J.L. Perry's The Stranger series, then you are not going to want to miss book #4 in the Mancini World, THE TEMPTATION. Jodi has delivered an addictive read with her age gap, forced proximity, frenemies to lovers, marriage of convenience mafia romance. This is the story of the Mancini Underboss and the younger sister-in-law of the Mancini Don. Prepare yourself because these two are about to take you on an action and tension filled ride which has plenty of drama, humour, and emotions.
Romeo DeLuca has been tasked with protecting Lucia Rossi, Dante Mancini's sister-in-law, it's the last thing he wants to do and the last person he wants to be alone with. Lucia is twelve years younger than Romeo and has a huge crush on him and deliberately plays on it, Romeo is attracted to her but won't do anything because of the age difference. Welcome back to the world of the Mancini’s
This time we’re with Romeo, Dante’s underboss and friend. We leave off from the last book with everyone in Australia and Lucia, Arabella’s sister, running from a marriage she doesn’t want.
She wants Romeo. The only problem is Romeo is doing his best to stay away because she is too young and because she’s Dante’s sister in law. The Famiglia (family) is more important than love.
Then Romeo is tasked with protecting Lucia from Giovanni, her arranged husband and the lines start to blur. He faces a huge problem… He can’t develop feelings for her or it will compromise his duty to protect her.
Add into that he has struggles of his own that no one knows about and secrets he needs to keep from her to protect her. Secrets about his past that threaten his present.
I loved this book. I didn’t think anyone could beat Dante but Romeo comes pretty close. He is so protective of everyone in the Famiglia and now that includes Lucia. He will do what is right and necessary to not let anyone get hurt.
Lucia is a spitfire, free from her father’s tyranny, she is finally living the life she wants …. And she wants Romeo. But he’s guarded and focussed on the job. Can she change that? She has a chance since they have to be in a safe house together for the foreseeable future.
There are more threats out there then just her husband to be and both learn pretty quickly they have to lean on each other to get through this mess to stay alive.
Will their close proximity bring them together or will it be that same closeness that compromises everything.???
Being back in this world felt right and add in the extra players that are tasked to help Romeo and Lucia and you have a book that’s about love, loyalty, obligation, longing, and family.

The Temptation is another fabulous addition to J.L. Perry’s must-read Mafia series. Once again, I found myself glued to my Kindle, torn between real-life responsibilities and the pull of this incredible story.
This time, we follow Lucia and Romeo - and what an unforgettable ride it is. Lucia, sister to Arabella from The Proposal, absolutely stole the show for me. Her vibrant spirit, strength, and fierce determination were magnetic. She’s the kind of character you wish you knew in real life - loyal, passionate, and never afraid to stand tall in the face of adversity. Every scene she was in lit up the page.
And then there’s Romeo...... swoon. Ms. Perry's leading Mafia men always seem to steal my heart, and Romeo is no exception. But what truly set this story apart for me was the emotional depth. Exploring Lucia and Romeo’s pasts brought tears to my eyes, and watching them grow, especially Romeo discovering his worth, was beautifully done.
This book is so much more than a love story - it’s about healing, identity, and finding strength in love. J.L. Perry absolutely nailed it.
If you haven’t read The Deal or The Proposal yet, I highly recommend starting there and reading in order. It adds so much richness to the experience. And based on the hints dropped in The Temptation, I think I know who’s next... and I am so ready!

Once I started reading this story I knew I was in for a long night as I was immediately hooked by the storyline—and I stayed hooked until the last page.
Lucia, Arabella’s sister (married Dante in The Proposal), is a fiery, passionate, determined and strong are just a few words ti describe this incredible character. And yes—I am in awe of her!
Romeo, chosen to protect the Don’s sister-in-law Lucia, realises things might get hairy because of the amazing chemistry between them. His worry about the age difference is genuine but not for Lucia, who is all in and raring to go.
This truly is a wonderful romance; however, it is so much more. The intensity and depth of emotions felt while reading ‘The Temptation’ are vast. Lighthearted moments with great humour balance things beautifully. The suspense element is twofold—the romance and the threat that is caused by Lucia’s dreadful father. Altogether rounding this book off to be a definitive 5-star winner.
This author never fails to deliver quality stories and this book is up there with her other beauties.

This story also takes place in the Mancini Empire. Romeo, the underboss of the Mancini Mafia Famiglia, meets Lucia, the Don's sister-in-law. Romeo has been Lucia's hero and protector since her 18th birthday, the day he rescued her from her father. Romeo fights these feelings, believing he's not good enough and too old. He is 13 years older than Lucia. The reader is drawn into the emotional rollercoaster and experiences everything up close. This book isn't your typical dark romance story, but rather a mix of suspense, romance, and a mafia story, and the realization that love can change you. Romeo learns that he is worthy of being loved. The book is wonderfully sensitively written and will make you shed many a tear. But the reader can also laugh, because the banter between Romeo and the cheeky Lucia is hilarious. Bonus points for the "pet" Killer, for whom I would have liked to see more action. I love storylines with pets, but they always have to survive, like the "guard dog" Killer.
This book is highly recommended.

The favourite book of the series for me, Lucia and Romeo were quite the cat and mouse that kept me hanging.
Lucia gave me great laughs with her antics and tenacity to get what she wants. She set Romeo in her sights but Romeo had the strength of a warrior withholding himself from crossing the line with the young, feisty princess. Partly due to obligation, partly due to an age gap but mostly because he felt he wasn’t worthy of love. I’m sure we can all relate to these feelings in some shape or form, albeit not to the depths of some over others.
I found this couple endearingly beautiful and particularly loved the end of the book with the introduction of other family members, round off a truly beautiful love story. This book made me laugh, made me hold my breath, made me angry and made me swoon. I loved this book!

I love how each of the three books in this series start right where they left off so you know you haven't missed anything. There was no doubt this was going to be good with how spicy Lucia was from the moment we met her and how desperate to not go back to her father. The attraction between Lucia and Romeo was undeniable and honestly them trying to stop it was futile and once they are suck in close proximity all bets are off.
We have the danger of Lucia's father hanging over us as well as Romeo wanting to do the right thing, suspense, insane attraction and some great laughs to keep you hooked till the very last page!!

The Temptation is filled with emotions and heart. Romeo and Lucia will steal your heart. These two are fire together. I love Lucia!! She’s feisty and sassy and she loves with her whole being. She had me smiling throughout this story with her firecracker personality and wit. My heart went out to Romeo. He has a lot of heartfelt moments throughout this story and I was so happy for things that came to light for him and the love and family he has found.

This story was just everything and more.
The emotions, the protection, the laughs, the rage, the sadness... It was ALL there!
If you haven't yet, do yourself a favour and read this steamy, Mafia based story.. It will NOT disappoint!
Lucia's character is such a fiesty, confident thing who definitely kept me laughing throughout the entire read.
I'm most definitely keen on finding out if a story of Dom is coming next 🤭

Him and pain she was put in a safe house with him watching over her as the days past she found out more about him she was making plans to him hers

I knew going in to this story that it was going to be great, but every word cemented that belief. Lucia knew that Romeo was special when the first met. Romeo knew Lucia and her sass was going to be his biggest temptation. Stuck in a safe house, Lucia uses everything in her arsenal to tempt Romeo and it eventually works. This story will have you chuckling and swooning. There is drama and intrigue woven in. I loved it. Bring on Dominic's story.

Oh my god, I loved this book! I have been waiting to read Lucia & Romeo’s book for the past 2 months! It didn’t disappoint at all. I loved it. It made me laugh so much with Lucia’s wit, sarcasm and sass towards Romeo. I really enjoyed this book, possibly more than Dante & Arabella’s 😱 which I didn’t think was possible as that was a great book too! I loved this series and I’m now checking out J.L Perry’s other books 🥰 I hope Dominic gets a book soon though, there’s something there with him!

Hail to the Queen of organized crime books! J nearly broke me with this one!
Lucia and Romeo’s story has been very much wanted and it was everything I needed it to be!
The suspense literally had me in a chokehold, but there was no way I could stop reading!

The Temptation by J.L Perry. Yes. This book can be read as a stand-alone. However, I would recommend you The Deal and then The Proposal first if you already haven't. No. It is not necessary. However, it will enhance your reading pleasure. As the Underboss Romeo is tasked with taking Don's sister in law Luciia to a safe house because she is being hunted by an old, sick, and abusive Don who was an associate of her father. The relationship between Romeo and Lucia is the real problem. Lucia at 19 has had a crush on Romeo for a while and has been doing everything she can to catch Romeo's eye. Romeo is in his early 30s and too has a thing for Lucia. However, Lucia is over a decade younger than him and is his Don's sister in law. He knows it is inappropriate to have a relationship with her. But with her being so persistent and them being held up in a safe house, things are bound to get interesting. And boy, oh boy, do they. Lucia is determined to get her man, and she is determined to do whatever she has to do to wear Romeo down. This story was not only comical but serious at times. In the previous book, we got to know Lucia's story. In this book, we got to know Romeo's story. And he has quite the story. 4.5 stars for me

Perry gives us a great age-gap romance, set in an Australian mafia style. I just keep picturing in my head: How does this Italian sound with an Aussie accent, and I just need to know. Romeo and Lucia fought their romance, but in the end, Love wins. A great drama with Lucia's past villains coming after her and Romeo‘s mother attacking from all sides. I love what Lucia did to Romeo's poor dog Killer; they just needed to show their soft side of him.
