When a group of friends rent a converted farmhouse in the Yorkshire Dales, they have little idea that this one weekend may change the course of their lives forever.
While out on a walk, a storm descends and the friends take shelter in the mouth of an old lead mine. Inside, they discover a backpack filled with more money than they've ever seen.
Of course, they agree, they will hand the money to the police at the first opportunity. But as the storm continues and time passes, some of the party begin to think again. Because there are secrets festering at the heart of this group. Debt. Blackmail. A career on the brink. Problems that could be solved instantly with an unexpected windfall.
And perhaps they don't know each other as well as thought they did.
Before long, six good friends find themselves sliding headlong into a world of deceit, treachery, betrayal and murder . . .

I'm a big fan of some of TM Logan's previous novels so I was delighted to be approved for the latest ARC. Although the synopsis sounded vaguely familiar (group of friends stumble upon loot and have decidedly different opinions on what to do with it), I was still intrigued as to where he would take it and it did stand out from previous novels.
The group of friends in question are three couples and when they come across the bag of money (over £1m), arguments ensue both between, and within, the couples as to whether they should hand it in or divide it between them. However, what is clear is that the money belongs to someone and both they, as well as the Police, are keen to track it down.
I did really enjoy this one and my enjoyment was only tempered by one thing which was that a mid-point twist was very similar to a book I have read recently so I saw it coming a mile off (and I never see twists coming) which meant I wasn't hit by it the same way I normally would have been. To be clear, that is not a criticism of the book, it is a clever twist which really turns the story on its head, but I did see it coming.
TM Logan seems to have a loyal group of fans and it is clear to see why. If you haven't read his books yet, what are you waiting for?

P.S This is my 200th novel of the year and I have officially completed by 2025 reading challenge 9 days early :)
Another outstanding read from T. M. Logan. The weekend begins as a familiar reunion of friends in the Yorkshire Dales quickly shifts into something far more unsettling, not because of sudden shocks, but because of the slow exposure of the characters involved.
Each character arrives carrying private pressures, financial, emotional, professional, and the isolation of the weekend gives those pressures space to surface. The tension doesn’t come from wondering if something will go wrong, but from watching how easily good intentions start to fray.
It’s a tense, uncomfortable read that leans heavily on character rather than spectacle. The idea of finding the money is simple, but the real story is how quickly long standing friendships start to strain once self-interest enters the room. Logan does a good job of showing how small doubts and private worries can spiral when people feel trapped together, both by the weather and by their own secrets.
I liked how the tension builds through conversations rather than constant action, making the group dynamic feel believable and messy. Not everyone is likeable, but that feels intentional, and it suits a story about moral compromise. By the end, it’s less about the money itself and more about what the weekend exposes, and what can’t be taken back once said or done. Highly recommended
When you see the name TM Logan - you know you’re in for a good read!
Tim is at the top of his game, 10 books down and all epically brilliant and distinctive in their own right. The brilliance of his writing combined with the simplicity of the scenario is true genius. He doesn’t go all in with the crazy, yet done before set ups - instead choosing a sliding doors moment that changes everything.
You just know that nothing good will come from these friends finding that bag - and yet! As you read the book you can’t help going through the scenarios and possibilities yourself. Should you keep it? Should you hand it in? Nobody leaves that kind of money just lying around with no intention of wanting it back.
And so sets the scene for this fantastic book. Totally gripping from the moment I picked it up and brilliantly written. I look forward to books by TM Logan and yet like a packet of Pringles ‘once you pop you can’t stop!’ Read over one weekend I’m still feeling the dizziness from reading so fast.
If you e not read TM Logan before … uh time to remove that rock! You’ll love each and every one of his books.
Thanks to NetGalley and special thanks to Bonnie’s Books for my advance copy in exchange for my honest review.
Thanks to NetGalley and Zaffre for the advanced copy of this title in return for an honest review.
I have only read one T.M Logan book - The Daughter - but I do own two others, The Mother and The Dream Home, but just from the one book alone he became an author I fell in love with.
This took me a little longer to get into than The Daughter, it had a slower start, but it does get quicker not that long after, and regardless of a slower start, I still thoroughly enjoyed it.
Whilst it is brilliant from page one, I definitely liked it more from Part 2 onwards when it becomes more thrillery and full on.
This one feels closer to home. I'm sure we've all thought now and again what it would be like to win the lottery, receive a sudden influx of cash, or stumble upon some money, and what we would do with it. And this book gives the reader a chance to explore that idea. If you fond a million pounds just lying around, would you hand it in or keep it? I say hand it in. But when you're there in the moment, seemingly free cash that could help you survive, it's not all that easy.
What I did like was how deceptively simple it was. He doesn't go in all guns blazing like some thrillers, instead he drops clues, gives you things to think about, and then once you're sure you're on a level footing, he pulls off a twist and throws you off balance.
This is more psychological than physical. It's not all violence and terror and murders like some thrillers (which are all good things, don't worry). It plays on your mind and we start to see friendships and relationships questioned and break down. You don't know who to trust and who to believe.
There are short chapters, which is right up my street as I can't stand overly drawn out chapters. The short length of the chapters add to the intense, frenetic, claustrophobic feeling of the story.
There are twists, which isn't surprising for a thriller. I am notoriously awful at seeing twists coming and working out whodunnits, and this is no different. I was definitely bamboozled (I love that word) by the direction some things took.
I can't say I found any of the characters likeable, apart from maybe one of the character' mum. They're well written but they've all got some sort of ... sliminess about them I suppose I'd say, which meant that I couldn't see them as good people, but I was very interested in their stories.
It was completely addictive and absorbing and I sat on the sofa, curled up with the dog and a glass of wine, Christmas tree light on, and just devoured it in one afternoon, I couldn't tear myself away.
I think this is Logan's 10th novel and whilst this may only be my second read, he has become a go-to thriller author and I've got all of his others on my wishlist.
The Weekend, is an addictive, fast paced novel by TM. Logan that illustrates how quickly friendship can fracture when temptation, secrecy, and fear collide. What begins as a relaxing getaway in the rugged beauty of the Yorkshire Dales soon spirals into a nightmare that none of the characters envisaged.
A group of long-time friends rent a converted farmhouse for a weekend of walking, food, and catching up. The setting feels idyllic and familiar, but all that is shortly going to change. A sudden storm forces the group to shelter in the entrance of an old lead mine, where they stumble upon a backpack stuffed with an astonishing amount of cash. At first, the decision seems obvious, hand it in to the police as soon as possible.
But as the storm rages on and escape is delayed, cracks begin to appear. Hidden debts, personal obsessions, faltering careers, and long-buried resentments surface, and the promise of instant solutions becomes dangerously seductive. The money isn’t just a find, it’s a test, exposing how little these friends truly know about one another.
The tension is constantly rising throughout the novel and the shifting perspectives tell of each character’s private fears and justifications. A claustrophobic setting, together with the tension mounting from the moral choices they face create an atmosphere thick with suspicion. Trust erodes quickly, and the descent into deceit and betrayal feels both shocking and disturbingly plausible.
As the weekend unravels, the stakes rise dramatically, culminating in violence and consequences that cannot be undone. The Weekend is a gripping exploration of greed, loyalty, and the thin line between doing the right thing and doing what’s easiest.
A fast-paced novel with an intriguing plot. Moral dilemma’s, where one bad decision and one dangerous secret, can change everything.
I would like to thank both Netgalley and Bonnier Books for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
Review of ‘The Weekend’ by T.M. Logan, due to be published on 26 February 2026 by Bonnier Books UK, Zaffre.
Three couples - Helen & Jason, Kat & Dev and Miranda & Christian - on their annual retreat to a cottage in the Yorkshire Dales to see in the New Year together, stumble into a cave for shelter from a storm, and discover a backpack full of more money than they have ever seen in their lives. £1.6 million to be exact.
Making the decision to take the backpack with them, the friends are torn in half over what to do. Some of them want to hand it in at the first available opportunity, but others want to keep it, seeing it as a windfall that will be an answer to all their troubles.
Things take a dark turn, and the friends find themselves thrown into a world where they don’t know who to trust and who is harbouring secrets. The cracks begin to fracture the friendships as each has their own agenda and reason to see the money as an opportunity - until it all goes very wrong.
The chapters are short and punchy, many have real cliffhanger endings that leave you wanting to read on. There are plot twists that you think are coming, only to be a red herring and another twist that is unexpected comes crashing in to lead the story in a different direction. The characters are well written, the storyline flows well and has great attention to detail.
This is T.M. Logan’s 10th novel release, which will no doubt top the bestseller charts like the ones before, and is a recommended read.
Thank you to NetGalley and Zaffre for an advanced copy of The Weekend in exchange for a review.
What would you do if you found nearly £2m in cash? Hand it in to the police? Or use it to make all your worries go away?
On their annual New Year’s weekend away in the Yorkshire Dales, three couples are on a hike when Helen finds a backpack full of cash. They get it back to their cottage to count it. £1.6million!
But the group are split on what to do. Half want nothing to do with it and want to hand it in to the police. Half want to keep it. Deciding to wait a few days to make the decision, the cash comes home with them. And gradually starts to disappear…
What started as a bit of a slow story really picked up the pace in the second half and became intense, claustrophobic, and quite stressful!
Each of the group has secrets they’ve been keeping to themselves, and one by one they are exposed in the group’s quest to protect themselves.
There were some really great twists and I loved how it ended! It was so nail-biting in the last few chapters!
And I loved the moral and ethical dilemmas the characters faced, which really got me thinking how far would someone go in real life to protect the people they love?
This is a great thriller with a moral dilemma at the heart of the story. When a group of friends find a bag of money in a cave whilst away for the weekend, the situation quickly spirals out of control and secrets buried deeply start to come to the fore. Helen, the woman who finds the bag and the main narrator is not keen to keep the money but after much discussion she is overruled and the group swear each other to secrecy whilst investigating where it has come from and take it home with them. Relationships between the characters begin to fracture as each person has their own vision of what to spend the money on. Helen’s mother is in need of residential care and that does not come cheap whilst others have their own use for the apparent windfall. However, what if someone comes looking for the cash? As the plot thickens with many twists, I just could not put the book down. I’m a big fan of T.M. Logan and have read all of his books. “The Weekend” was right up there, an edge of your seat read with some great characters. I raced through the novel very quickly and have no hesitation in recommending it as an excellent page turner. Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for my advance copy.
Wham bam, this book does not let you rest for a second. From the opening pages to the very last moments, T.M. Logan has packed his latest thriller absolutely chock-a-block with cliff-hangers and plot twists, your head will be reeling from all the twists and turns! A group of six friends find an abandoned rucksack full of money hidden away in a cave in the Yorkshire Moors - its well over a million pounds in banknotes, just sitting there. They decide to take the bag with them just whilst they decide what to do with it. Do they hand it in to the police or split it between the three couples, giving them each a life-changing sum of money. Some of the group are adamant that they shouldn't keep any of it as its not their money, others are happier to accept the luck and take the money. As the hours and days tick by, the impact that finding the money has grows and soon they find out that whatever they've decided, there's no going back now. It is so fast and pacey, full of proper gasp out loud moments - another solid hit from T.M. Logan!
The Weekend by TM Logan is a tense, character driven thriller with a strong central hook. Six friends on holiday find a bag containing a large amount of money. The main tension comes from the cracks in the relationships exposed within the group. Differing opinions on whether to keep it, simmering resentments, and rising suspicion when money goes missing create constant tension and raise some interesting ethical questions.
The first half is fairly slow, but the second half really picks up. The pace tightens, the pressure builds, and there are some effective twists, even if the plot occasionally stretches credibility.
My biggest issue was the characters. They are all flawed, which feels intentional but I found every single one of them unlikeable, which meant I did not care much about what happened to any of them. That said, watching the group unravel was still compelling.
A tense, readable, thought provoking, novel from the ever-brilliant TM Logan. A solid 4 star thriller.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bonnier Books for the ARC.
Logan's The Catch is one of the best psychological thrillers I've ever read, and it's the yardstick for how I view his more recent output . This latest is gripping, but not as taut or compulsively compelling as The Catch - so that one still remains unconquered!: In The Weekend six friends (three couples) find a fortune in cash (although, as the book points out, not even a "fortune" goes very far these days...!). Their discovery quickly spirals into a tense, claustrophobic nightmare as the weight of the money – and the friends' own hidden secrets and simmering dynamics – begins to fracture the group. The Yorkshire setting and the fast-paced, character-driven exploration of how far people will go when temptation and desperation collide kept me turning the pages, and the ethical dilemmas added spice to the twists (all unseen by me), so I'd certainly recommend it - but The Catch holds my heart.
I’ve read and enjoyed most of the author’s novels so was thrilled to have the opportunity to read The Weekend. It begins with a group of six friends who discover a bag of cash whilst walking on the North Yorkshire Moors. This of course leads to a dilemma about what they should do with the money - leave it, call the police or keep it. The Weekend follows the group over the next few weeks as the outcome of this unfolds. It’s certainly an enjoyable and gripping read that I raced through over 24 hours, some of the plot was predictable but there was a twist that I didn’t see coming. I did feel that the plot became rather ridiculous at points and so for me this was not one of the author’s best. 3.5 stars. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this digital ARC.
Tense, scary, exhilarating this book is seriously good. It was so good I had to take some short breaks just to process what was going on and to regroup, as it was almost too much for me. This explores some darker sides of human nature some which are scarily near the surface and are almost relatable. The love and desire for money definitely brings out the worst in some people. It also brings home that people you think you know the best and inside out still may not be entirely who you think they are. Some great and very sinister baddies, some captivating and shocking backstories and the lengths we go to to protect the ones we love. I also loved the human interest stories eg being a sandwich generation, caring for both teenage children and elderly parents simultaneously. Poignant and relatable. Thank you for the adrenaline filled ride and all the brain aching twists. Fantastic.
Another great read from T M Logan. I feel the synopsis alone sells this book. The narrative is based around 6 friends celebrating the New Year in a quiet cottage in the Dales where they happen upon a large amount of money in a cave whilst out walking.
What unfolds between the 6 friends tests their friendships and relationships. Should they hand the money in to the police or keep it. Faced with this dilemma do people’s attitudes change. This situation closely analyses each of the friends characters causing arguments due to greed, lack of trust, suspicion of each other and is everyone as they seem and being honest with each other.
The plot was freshingly different for me and new to anything I have recently read with the book being fast paced with short chapters - this book is an instant hit for 2026!
Six friends. Five secrets. One holiday to die for . . . A group of six friends rent a converted farmhouse in the Yorkshire Dales for the weekend. While out walking, they become lost and take shelter from a storm in a cave. One of them finds a backpack filled with money. As they all consider what to do, it is clear their intentions are divided and some friends see the possibilities of keeping the large sum of cash.
Danger lurked at every corner in this one and I did not know who to trust. It was filled with tension and kept me flying through the pages. I honestly could not guess where this was heading and in the author's true style, there were plenty of twists and suspense. Another fabulous novel by the author.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bonnier Books UK for this gifted review copy.
When I read the blurb of this book I knew I had to read it the perfect thriller and it had me turning each page and stayed up very late to finish it.
In T M Logan’s newest book The weekend a group of friends go away for a trip in the Yorkshire moors find a bag containing a lot of money the group is undecided on what to do with it…. The money comes back home with them until they decide what to and if they can find out any information on who the money belongs too some money goes missing one of the group has taken some?! But who and why?!
Each person is hiding a secret, I loved the story building, the secrets and lies unfolding and I didn’t see the end coming
The Weekend is out on the 26th February 2026
What would you do if you found nearly £2million in cash?
Thank you so much NetGalley & Bonnier Books for this amazing arc
I couldn’t wait to start this as I have enjoyed all of TM Logan’s books and this was another excellent read.
A group of friends are spending the weekend together and while out on a walk find a rucksack full of money. What soon unfolds is the fact that money changes everyone. Relationships begin to fall apart and no one can be trusted.
All the characters have their own issues which unfold as the book progresses. There were plenty of twists which had me gripped all through the book and the ending was excellent.
A brilliant read which really makes you question what you would do in the situation. Especially with the pressures everyone’s faces these days.
Thanks for NetGalley, T.M Logan and Bonnier Books UK for an advance copy in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.
Thank you to NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book.
A group of friends are away for New Year's Eve, and when on a hike, they stumble upon a bag of cash. A HUGE amount of cash. They take the cash back to where they are staying to decide how to go about dealing with it, and naturally they all have different opinions. But no good can come from a bag of cash that amount.
When you see this authors name, you know it will be an absolute banger of a book, and I was not disappointed. This book was cleverly written, with loads of red herrings, twists, and turns. It was fast paced, and had the perfect amount of tension in it. this book has made me ask my family and friends what they would do if they found that money. I really loved this book, and would highly recommend.
Three couples are spending New Years Eve in the Yorkshire dales as they do every year. On one of their walks, they are caught by a storm and take shelter in a cave. Helen finds a rucksack, which, when she opens it, is full of money. Should they hand it in to the police or keep it? Money does not bring you happiness as the six find out very quickly. There is betrayal, murder, kidnapping, and fraud. It's a tense nail-biting ride to the conclusion. This is Logan's tenth book, and with each one, they just get better and better. Thanks to Netgalley and Bonnier Books UK/Zaffre for the invitation to read this in return for an honest review.
I liked how this book hinged on a moral dilemma, and it was fascinating to follow the group dynamics as the friends disagreed about what to do with the money. I enjoyed discovering the secrets that the characters were keeping, and there were a couple of fun twists which I didn't see coming.
I didn't find the characters very relatable, they all had middle class person problems and when one character described £1.6million as not being a life-changing amount, I switched off a bit. The pacing in the first half was also a little slow for my tastes, but this did pick up later on.
Overall, I liked this book and would recommend it, but I didn't love it as much as other reviewers did.
Thank you for allowing me to review this latest book by T.M.Logan. I couldn't put it down, from start to finish i was gripped. Each chapter, told me more about the characters, but left me hanging with more questions. A real thriller! So many unexpected twists and turns. How, complex characters can be, do we really know our friends and family as we think we do. All the 6 friends felt like people I might know at the beginning but as the story unfolds you begin to question do I really know them. I can highly recommend this book to those who enjoy thrillers.
Thank you to Netgalley for allowing me to read this book in return for an honest review. I was instantly hooked by this book and found it to be very fast paced and an enjoyable thriller. Unfortunately I didn’t really like the main characters but that’s my own personal opinion. The story is very edgy and I flew through this book very quickly. The plot twists were really good and I certainly didn’t guess the last one! Overall an enjoyable read.
Another fabulous exciting book by T M Logan. The Weekend is a great thriller with good characters. An annual New Year trip with friends and family take an unexpected twist when a bag for of cash is discovered. This leads the party of 6 with a dilemma which divides them and raises questions about how well they know each other and who can be trusted. My thanks to Net Galley and publishers for the advanced copy I have no doubt that it will be another hit.
Three couples go away for New Year the same as they have done every year. A cosy cottage in the Yorkshire Dales, good friends, good food and drink and lovely walks acrooss the dales. Sounds wonderful, until they find something! I could not put this book down, stayed awake most of the night reading. Absolutley brilliant! Great author, Great Book
I’m in the minority but this book was a complete nonsense read. It guessed the ‘twist’ immediately. I could have actually written it myself.
The story had potential, finding money, splintering the group but it ended up like a fantasy for bored housewives. No thanks, completely silly, threads in the story that went nowhere, totally silly resolutions to situations.
Nonsense! Thanks to Net Galley for the advance copy
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Another well written read from the author, who never disappoints with his thrillers. The pacing was steady throughout as a group of friends find a bag, filled with cash, when they are on a weekend break. A moral dilemma follows as they all decide what to do with the loot. The second half had plenty of twists and the tension ramped up as the characters developed. Suspend belief and just buckle up for the read. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.
You always know what you are getting with this author’s work! Clear your diary and be prepared to be totally absorbed until you reach an electrifying end. The characters are all perfectly drawn, a true mix of humanity with all the flaws most of us have. There are a number of red herrings throughout as you’d expect - Just sit back and enjoy, a great 5* read!
I received a free copy of, The Weekend, by T.M. Logan, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Six friends spent a weekend in the Dales, what they find, will change there lives forever. Im so glad I do not have friend and family, like the characters in this book. Why have morals become a thing of the past?
