Is dating after divorce really as hard as they say?
Well, Beth is once bitten, twice shy! When forty-five-year-old Beth Martin catches her husband Chris cheating on her with her good friend and next-door neighbour Candy, that's the moment her marriage and all her trust in human beings goes out the window. Especially the male of the species! With permission to work remotely from her big city fashion buying job. Beth moves back to her hometown of Haven to help while her dad recuperates from a heart attack. She is just beginning to adjust to living in a small town again when her father does the unthinkable and moves her old high school crush into the spare bedroom in the basement.
Aiden Carter's life has changed in ways he could never have predicted back when he was a high school heart-throb. This single father and hard-working nurse is going through some changes himself. Aiden's always been a romantic at heart, but at this point in his life he's thinking that maybe love has passed him by. Especially after his last girlfriend leaves him just days before she's to move in with him. But fate steps in with an unexpected offer of a temporary room to rent. And that room comes with the added bonus of a certain beautiful roommate Aiden remembers from high school.
Beth's Haven is a combination of comedy and swoon-worthy romance with some deeply emotional moments thrown in. Oh, and did I mention steamy? Because rom-coms for… ahem, “later-in-life ladies” is a thing now. We can't let the twenty-year-olds have all the fun, now can we?
I have been anxiously awaiting Beth’s Haven to be released by author Lisa Plaice and it did not disappoint!!!
I was immediately transported back to the little town of Haven, where we last left Evie - only this time we’re following up with one of her besties Beth. I absolutely love the way the author wove their stories together bringing back bits and pieces from Evie‘s Haven into Beth’s Haven, while also leaving us wanting more!
I think the author did an incredible job of showcasing the struggles “us kids” go through with aging parents. There is an awful lot that isn’t often talked about, but while witnessing Beth’s journey with her dad, I was reminded that for every low, there are at least three highs!!
I absolutely adore the Princess Café and the way it is a central hub for the community, and the banter, oh the banter makes me giggle!! And then there is the ladies book club…Eeeekkkkk….the way in which the characters in the book are coming to life right before our eyes - I love seeing the changes that they all undergo as the story progresses!!
Beth’s Haven was chock full of laugh out loud moments; sweet, tender moments and the super spicy OMGosh did that really happen moments, all wrapped up into this amazing RomCom that made me feel like I was in Haven watching it unfold with my own two eyes while sipping a latte and enjoying a sweet treat in the Princess Café.
I literally devoured this book the moment it arrived!! Thank you for writing a book that brought tears to my eyes (mostly from laughing so hard) and filled my heart up with joy! I CANNOT wait for the next book in the Haven series!!!
Ps I have my fingers and toes crossed that it’s Katie’s story next!
I must say, Beth’s Haven is such a gem of a story. Lisa Plaice captures the ups and downs of starting over after heartbreak with so much humor, warmth, and honesty. Beth’s journey from betrayal and self-doubt to rediscovering herself and opening her heart again felt so genuine and relatable. I absolutely loved the small-town charm of Haven, the quirky supporting characters, and of course, Aiden! His kindness and quiet strength made him the perfect match for Beth. Their chemistry felt natural and earned, and I couldn’t help but root for them every step of the way. What really stood out to me, though, is how the author celebrates love later in life with confidence and joy. It’s not just a romance it’s a story about resilience, rediscovery, and finding happiness when you least expect it. A perfect mix of heart, humor, and a little heat this one’s for anyone who believes it’s never too late for love. 💕
Beth's Haven is a later in life romance for Beth who comes home to the small town of Haven to take care of her dad after his heart attack. She's happy to see some old friends and be there for her dad but nothing can compare to being a fashion designer in the city and her fast paced world. During her stay at home she ends up needing to take a quick trip to Paris for work so she hires a nurse to stay with het her father but at the last minute the nurse isn't able to come and sends someone else. Beth finds out its her old high school crush. Things go from interesting to extremely interesting in 2.3 seconds. Although the story was a little choppy in parts, I really enjoyed this down to earth romance and would recommend it.
I was excited to read the second installment of the Haven Series and it was a joy! The relationships are at the core of this fun and cozy story. The author has a great sense of humour and insight into relationships that I really appreciate. It is a delightful and feel good book that you can escape into!
Love, Love, Love this!!! The second book in the Haven Series is full of laughs, fashion and steamy romance! It's not easy starting over but it sure can be hot!!
⭐️⭐️⭐️ Beth’s Haven is a feel-good read that explores the quiet strength of starting over. If you’re looking for a light, easygoing rom-com that centers on a woman stepping into her next chapter, this might be just the book for you.
As the sequel to Evie’s Haven, this story returns us to a charming, familiar setting and focuses on Beth, who is refocusing her life after divorce and supporting her father. At 45, she’s navigating grief and self-doubt, all while trying to open herself up to new possibilities. The friendship between Beth, Evie, and Katie is a standout and I really appreciated the way these women showed up.
Beth and Aiden’s story is a slow burn. I found comfort in the slower pace and the everyday feel of Beth’s journey. It felt like spending quiet time with a friend figuring things out.
There are definitely some funny moments, like this line from Ms. Hazel that made me laugh: “Katie, two things: one—it’s none of your business, and two—I have been doing squat thrusts in the cucumber patch since before you were even born.” 🥒 👀
Overall, while the pacing was slow at times for me, I appreciated the cozy, comforting vibe.
Thank you to the author for kindly providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
