While the pleas of Logan Kellar's best friends typically fall on deaf ears, there's one voice he can't ignore so easily. His own. And when Maxx, his beautiful best friend, says something that shakes his existence, he finds himself suddenly desperate to be heard.
Ooooooo Ms. Neal, I'm getting real sick of your shit with these endings.... lol... well I can safely say now that if cliffhangers drive you batty then buy these bad boys as they come out since thus far they have only been 99 pennies but wait until she has released them all which I think will be by early next year before you start reading them. I am not usually enraged by cliffhangers but every damn time with these books. LOL!!! Enough of that, let's talk about Logan and Maxx...
These two fools are just... a hot ass adorable mess. I was not sure how this book would start off. The feelings had been made known on both sides and I'll be honest I was kind of surprised to have the slow start and the lack of much interaction between Logan and Maxx in the beginning of this book. There was a slow burn that I also was not expecting that was both bad and good. Once they got to the loving it was smoking hot on fire and I wanted more. The ending also concluded in a way that I thought was a little predictable and somewhat eye rolling provoking... for all those things combined I took one star off.
Now as stated I really enjoyed the sexy time in this one. I am still loving that the characters talk to the reader about what they are thinking. It is a great way to break up the internal monologue. Erin is pretty awesome at this point but totally dropped the ball at the end of this one. I am so very excited to learn more about her and her brother Luke as well. I am also very curious to find out how the offers made to Maxx and to be made to Logan will effect their rag tag makeshift family and each other. I just really hope that book three is not 50% of Logan and Maxx trying to work out where things left off at the end of this one. All and all GREAT read and I definitely recommend it if you like something quick, steamy, and fun.
Geeze Louise I don't think I have ever met a character as cocky as Logan Keller and still actually liked him. Hell, I even feel sorry for this guy at times. Such a crazy dynamic. He is suppose to piss me off, not turn me on with his "all about me" ways.
So in Blind we learned that Maxx and Logan have been best friends for years. She was there when he needed her most and he will never forget it. They have blurred the lines (sorry Xavier, stole that one from you) of the friendship as they dipped their toes in for a bit more. However Logan has baggage, lots of emotional baggage that keeps him blind to Maxx's love. Now Maxx is the one that needs to clean her ears out.
Dancing around her feelings for Logan, Maxx wants him to make the move she's been waiting for-the public one. Logan only seems to want her behind closed doors or if anybody else is sniffing around. She wants him to claim her publicly as much as he does in private, not knowing how much she is really asking for. Fear is the bottom line for him. If Logan loves her, he'll lose her, if he doesn't love her, she'll leave him. He makes his choice and just as he thought, it backfires on him.
Oh what an irritating ending Xavier Neal. You can see the next book Numb is going to be one hell of an angsty read, good thing I love that in a romance! Deaf is a great addition to the Senses Series and keeps you wanting more.
Well…Xavier Neal has done it yet again! Deaf was just as good as Blind was!!! As this book opens, Logan and Maxx are slowly taking their relationship to the next level, at least each one thinks they are. However, Logan is still fighting his fear of commitment, and Maxx is struggling with her fear of losing him, not only as a potential boyfriend but as her best friend. So, of course, many misunderstandings, anger, and hurt feelings ensue. Will these two ever be able to put their fears aside and move forward to a life together?
Again, Xavier really connects her characters with her readers. We are, again, one of their most trusted confidantes. While I still absolutely LOVE, LOVE Logan and Maxx, I wanted to take them both in the ring and beat the hell out of them. They are both so stubborn and won’t break down that last, most intimate, and painful wall that is keeping them apart. They do spend a good portion of the book misunderstanding each other and fighting, they also spend a great deal of time in hot, heavy, sexy, and steamy make-up sessions too. By the middle of the book, they seem to really be on the road to establishing their relationship as “boyfriend and girlfriend.” Without saying too much, Logan is making small strides in moving to the next level with Maxx, like buying new sheets. Hey, that might not sound like a huge gesture for you, but it’s a great, big gesture for Logan. Of course, readers get to catch up with the sexy Erin and sweet Luke. I love these two characters as well. Most importantly, I got to see the scared, little boy come out in Logan…a totally different side to him. Logan is slowly maturing from a selfish, ego-centric guy into a more caring, less selfish man. Again, not happening overnight, but it’s progress.
Xavier has me hooked on this group of characters. I feel like every single one of them are a part of my family. When I was driving in my car, I was thinking about these characters and couldn’t wait to get back home to immerse myself into the story that is Logan and Maxx. Very, very emotional ending and one heck of a cliffhanger, but I LOVED IT!!!! And, you will not have to wait long because Numb releases this week!!!! YAY!!!
Now that I am done being mad at that cliffhanger and picked up my Kindle, I can write this review! LOL Again, I love that I get both POV of Logan and Maxx. The way the book is written will have you laughing and smiling throughout. Great job Xavier!!
Now let’s get into the book. Logan wants Maxx but hasn’t been able to put that label on it yet. He has never had a girlfriend and doesn’t know how to do the whole relationship thing. He is working on it though, just not as fast as Maxx would hope! I would recommend having a fire extinguisher on standby because the hot and steamy in this book will set your kindle ablaze! Sparks were shooting out. It was crazy! Thankfully I don’t wear any product in my hair because if I did, I might be sitting here looking like a Barbie doll after a mean girl got angry. (you know what I’m talking about with her hair chopped up and looking ROUGH) The kids got excited thinking it was the 4th of July all over again while I was reading. LOL
Where was I? Oh…Logan. He’s doing all he can to show Maxx that he is changing. He bought new sheets and bathroom items (you know….to get rid of all the skank that has been in there before). Logan stopped all the one stop v-jj train rides. He’s becoming a new man. Maxx sees hope for the first time in a long time, but then something happens. I can’t tell you what happens but it is the reason my Kindle was thrown across the room and my kids came to check on me when the scream came out!
If you haven’t begun the series, go check it out. You will not regret it. The book is well written. The characters are great. The story keeps your attention (and that speaks a lot when you suffer from ADD as I do lol). The next book, Numb is coming out in a few weeks and it cannot come soon enough for me! I need that book now! Go 1-click today and meet the gang.
We're * done alright. We're done with this whole she's not mine bullshit. We're done with her having dates with Tony. Apparently she didn't learn her lesson yesterday with my tongue between her legs. But she's gonna. She's gonna learn not to let that two-faced brat be anywhere near her.
NADBB gets to dine on book 2 of the Senses series by Xavier Neal and we're dying to know what happens next!
Synopsis:
Max and Logan, Logan and Max. Say it anyway you want, but this is book 2 in their ongoing love story and we find Logan needing to grab Max's attention. Can he do it? Will Max take him serious? What's going to happen!?!??!
The Review:
The Good: Everything. There's everything good about this book. By this time we're emotionally invested in Max and Logan. We're on tether hooks wondering if they are going to make it. The Divine Ms. X gives us more smart dialogue, more witty repartee, and just more. We're happy.
The Bad: Again there is a reason we want our Happy Ending people. That said this is a continuation series, so we expected it. If anything though a warning might be put into the blurb for readers unfamiliar with Ms. Neal.
The Rating: 4.5 better than the first. Drives us nuts that we can't have our Happy Ending. GIVE IT TO US SOON. Please and Thank you. (And we're not talking about the kind you get at a massage parlor you freaks!)
*I Was Provided A Arc By The Author In Exchange For A Honest Review*
Deaf was just as sexy, drama filled, & funny to read as Blind! Logan and Maxx, are still trying to work out what they are to one another. Maxx loves Logan and just wants him to pull his head out of his ass and see that they would be amazing together. There practically a couple already. Just without the title. Logan is still so unsure of what he wants. He loves Maxx, but if he admits that, he's scared everything will go to crap. You just wanna shake Logan. And tell him, go get your girl. Go get Maxx. You guys are made to be together. Throw in Erin & Luke. They are the most awesome best friends to Logan & Maxx. They Make for a great laugh. I love the tension between Erin & C.J. And Luke & Stuart. I hope we get to see more of where that goes in the future. The sexiness between Maxx & Logan, is SO SEXY! You'll need to be standing in front of a fan, when you read a certain part that involes Logan's Door, and a Neon Green Thong!
After reading Blind, the first book in the Senses series, I merely believed I suffered a bad book hang-over. The second installment has me convinced these books are soul-sucker fantasies. Deaf absolutely dominated me: mind, body, and soul. In reference to Logan, I wish I could say, "PUN INTENDED"! HaHa!
By now I am familiar with the execution of the prose/dialogue. At times I felt personal tension. For the most part, I hung onto every word.
Be prepared for Maxx and Logan's relationship to enter the make or break stage. The intensity of the emotional and sexual atmosphere is kicked up a notch...or ten! Xavier kept me guessing throughout the book, and totally blind-sided my expectations. The build-up is a reflection of the author's ability as a wonderful storyteller.
Xavie Neal is brilliant! The novel's end is so raw, it is impossible to not purchase the next book in the series. I was left shattered, hopeful, and obsessed. November cannot come soon enough!
***Book #3 Numb to be released November 3, 2014***
As with Blind (Book 1), I was gifted an ARC of Deaf (Book 2) in exchange for an honest review.
I won't go into the storyline as I don't want to spoil it for anyone but what I will say is make sure you read them in order.
I absolutely loved Blind & Deaf was no exception, I was totally hooked and the book ended before I was ready and it ended on a bit of a cliffhanger.... Darn u Xavier Neal :)
This book picks up where Blind finishes and the thing I adore about this series is that both Logan & Maxx talk to u like your actually there and a friend, completely enveloped in their journey with them, some of it actually cracks me up and some of the sexy, hot scenes kinda make me blush and thats simply because I feel like I know them and their feelings... It's a very fly on the wall series.
The good news is that you won't have to wait too long for Numb (book 3) and I for one can't wait to read it especially with how Deaf ended.
Have you read Blind and got to know the sexy Logan and the hot nerd girl Maxx? You have? Good, you can continue reading :)
First I want to start of saying you HAVE TO read this series! Xavier has an amazing ability to connect you to the characters, whether they have big or small parts. You laugh, cry and fall apart along with them. She's AMAZING. Now on to the good stuff!
Logan = FUCKING SEX GOD! I mean seriously, you know you want him as much as every other MMA groupie. I would totally do a walk of shame for just one night with this man. Totally worth it!
Maxx = hot ass nerd girl. You know you love her and totally feel her pain as she watches Logan with all the tramps he messes around with.
However, when these two finally get together... MIND BLOWING! You know it's coming, all the sexual tension and the anger Logan has with other men looking at Maxx. It's bound to come to one hot ass sex scene! I mean you can't get me all worked up like and with no release, it's just not right!
But the ending.... OMG that ending! my heart totally breaks for Logan at the end. I'm really hoping that in Numb things turn out the way they are supposed to (well what I think is supposed to happen anyways).
So Xavier, I am impatiently waiting for the next book. Hurry up and put those magic fingers to work. I have to know, no I NEED to know, what happens next between Logan and Maxx!
As usual Xavier not only blows me away with the way she writes and how her characters are with one another but the fact that I truly find myself longing for Logan and Maxx. Feeling all of their feelings and emotions. I love how Logan and Maxx interact with the audience (the reader) as well.. I think thats a reason its so easy throw yourself into this complicated love story because your made to actually feel like your apart of their lives. The hot sex scenes finally came in this book lol! And Logan and his jealousy... lets just say its pretty hot.. I definitely got my book hangover from this book and im so very impatiently waiting for the next book in the series.. gosh im worried about Logan and Maxx but also so excited for them to be what they need to be for one another. Great job again Xavier..
Book 2 was just as good as one! Flew by like nothing! Fun as always and man, so HOT, too! Logan is just so DANG YUMMY! And Maxx amazes me with her ability to hold onto her self worth considering what she's been through and endured with that man! God bless her! Ha! Yeah, this installment had lots of heart-throbby progress between the two main charries and I loved that. Logan moved a considerable amount in the right direction and I was so proud of him for that! And I was also so rooting for Maxx when she made her long-overdue stand! It was perfect and moving and just did it for me! The state the two's relationship in now leaves me with a bit more peace of mind as I move to the next book, but the predicament we are left with them is still cliffhanger worthy! Need full HEA now!! Great job on book two, Xavier! Fantastically fun read all around!
DEAF is the book two of Senses Series.. It started right where Blind has ended. In this book, some of the questions that arises in Blind will be answered. I enjoyed reading Deaf because I've got. to. know Logan more, his past, his emotions, his cocky attitude that I love. It is amazing how Xavier Neal put all the. characters all together, shows them strong friendships of Logan, Maxx, Luke and Erin. Furthermore, I like how Maxx and Logan's relationship has stepped up in this book. DEAF definitely has it all humor, angst, and romance. It will pull you in, enough to finish it in one sitting and crave for MORE. I can't wait for book 3!
Our little Maxx has gotten more vocal since the last book, "out! Around! Jesus Logan, I went to yoga class, which sucked since I'm not made to be bent into a effing pretzel." I'd bend her a** into a pretzel in my bed. Spank it for giving me so much effing trouble right now." Personally I think the girl likes to tease Logan which is fun for me to read, "Maxx's a**, which is pressed against my c***, wiggles again. My arm that's wrapped around her waist tightens as I groan. "Quit moving." Logan he means serious business when he starts threatening things, "damn it, Maxx, if you don't stop moving your a** like that I'm gonna bury myself balls deep inside of you." The cliffhanger was worse that the first book's so I'm eagerly waiting for the next one to come out.
Oh my word! Wow! Just when I didn't think I could love Logan anymore along comes Deaf. I'm completely smitten by him. It was so great to see a different side of him. I loved that he was willing to try to get over his insecurities for the sake of his one true love! I love Dean and Logan taking on the big brother role to him. Dean couldn't have a better role model! I loved everything about this book. From the sexual tension to the start of their relationship until the end.... Noooo broke my heart and I cried but I know that Xavier is Amazing and she won't let us down! I can not wait for Numb! I'm dieing to see where the story takes us! Another masterpiece by Xavier Neal! ~ I received a copy for a honest review.
Xavier Neal is such a tease. So mad right now. Did it to me again. A cliffhanger and one right after a crucial moment. So mad. And I cannot even say I won't be there to read the third book because we all know I will be. The chemistry between Maxx and Logan burned out of control in this book. Logan the sexy, tortured fighter and Maxx the lovely nerdy object of his desire. Wo good together. Still love that the characters talk directly to the reader so we feel apart of the story. The supporting characters Erin and Luke add humor and some common sense to the story. Loved it except for the that ending. Cannot wait for 3rd (and hopefully final) book.
Ladies, get ready to have your mind blown in this installment of the Senses Series. If you love Logan, you are going to love him even more after reading this!!! Maxx and Logan love to play a little game of cat and mouse, and you hope once the predator catches their prey, all that tension will get released!!! These two have quickly became one if my Favorite couples. The series is going to grip you from the beginning, and you better hold on and enjoy the ride!! Xavier~ you are amazing!!! Love ya!
Oh my gosh! As If we couldn't love Logan Keller more than we already do! I dove into this book as soon as I got it and couldn't put it down. I love Xaviers writing style she grabs ahold of you from page one. Her characters jump out of the book and it's like watching a movie in your head as you read. I absolutely love this series! it is definitely a must read! Your not going to be able to put it down!!
I received this for an honest review. I have to say that the minute I picked it up I could not put it down. This is the continuation of Maxx and Logan's story and I have to say the more I read their story the more I fall in love with them. When I read the first book I had a hard time with the conversation that the characters have in their heads but throughout this book I absolutely loved it. This is such a fun and sexy book. I absolutely can not wait for the next book to come out.
We pick up where Blind left us.. Maxx is still trying to get Logan to commit... This book is more from Logan? You get to see inside his head.. Xavier still has the great internal dialog and it's funny as hell! But this book had one problem..... I read it too fast! It is a cliffy but come on, it's one of the very few I recommend because it's just that good! I can't wait till Numb!! Will they have a HEA I'd like to also see more from Erin and Luke!
WOW!! Xavier Neal does it again. She is a hot new author and she is amazing!! This is the second book in her Senses Series. The first book is Blind. These books are awesome you will fall in love with Logan and Maxx. I love Logan but in the second book Deaf he pissed me off. All I can say is he better make it right in the third book Numb. Also Ms. Neal just released the first book in another series called Havoc. You need to check this book out also.
Omg!!!! Can I say it enough? I doubt I've ever needed a different pair of panties so often for one book! Xavier has done it again. Just feel privileged that I'm taking time from the next one to let you know how awesome this book is. When Logan finally gets it together enough to admit a few things, he gets knocked flat. Unbreakable? Hmmmm not so sure. Will he be able to absorb all that is trying to break him? Or will he finally collapse under the pressure? Hurry and find out!
This is f***ing awesome! the second part picks right off where the first one ended...and the battle between sexes continues LOL you all know how that particular story goes, right?
nevertheless, it's good to be just looking in from the outside...cheering and rooting...and cussing too
shit, would go through it again...I mean not the whole love-will-mess-up-your-life kinda stuff...(well, I'm not that love crazy LOL) but re-reading it, definitely LOL
Well Maxx and Logan are back and they are taking baby steps towards finding their way together after the declarations made at the end of book one. Nothing is ever easy when it comes to Logan and Maxx but it is bloody funny and the writing style continues- thank god!! The book sets off at a fairly steady pace, with them both tentative about where they are going but when they eventually get their act together their relationship is smoking hot. Logan is just such a cool guy, I know that I should be a little peeved with him when he steps out of line but he is on uncharted territory with his feelings for Maxx and it is like watching a toddler trying to take their first steps, hard to watch and not be able to help but so endearing – I suppose that is what I find that I like about him. Trying to keep her all to himself, he thinks making all the right moves, but Maxx is beginning to tire of being a secret, she want to shout it to the world that she has this adorable man all to herself and by the time Logan gets with the plan, the goalposts have moved and it just might be too late. We get more of Erin and Luke in this book and I have to say that I was beyond annoyed with Erin by the time the end of the book arrived, I thought she would have fought harder for her friends and not been a contributing factor to the cliff hanger that greeted me when I reached the last page. With book three Numb in the pipeline, I hope that we get the resolution I am praying for with Logan and Maxx. This pair have a past that will define their future but I pray that it is a future that they can share together.
The mental tirades of Maxx and Logan continue in this second installment of SENSES. It's still a bit off-putting, but in the interest of "getting over it", I'm going to do my best to ignore the chosen format and judge more on the characters and plot itself. Best line? "Just because you lick it, doesn't make it yours, Logan." Loved it, such a current phrase thrown in with unexpected sass. The characters are well-written. Mostly enjoyable, but human. There are flawed personality traits and they don't always do/say the right thing or make the best choices. Dean is a wonderful addition, especially in the way that he adds more dimension to Logan's personality. I wish the shadowed back stories of C.J. and Erin as well as the kindling of Luke and Stuart would be highlighted just a little more. The flow of the book progresses smoothly and has enough dynamics to not feel stagnant; not an easy thing to do when you are reading novella-length books. Although, to be fair, these books do NOT individually have closure like a regular book would, it's more of a serial: "to be continued". Thankfully, there's really no predictability. DEAF is just as open-ended as BLIND was; do NOT expect closure or resolve, you WON'T find it here. -------------------------------------------- DSR: 3.9 Stars: 4 --------------------------------------------
Deaf is as good as Blind was. Things slowly start escalating between Logan and Maxx in this book. There are still some complications, like Logan and his fear of commitment, and Maxx is scared of losing him. Even though they each have there own fears, the passion is still sizzling and the passion is still going strong!
The one thing that drove me batty was the the one thing I also enjoyed. One minute they are fighting and the next they are having hot sweaty sex and making up. You see Logan trying to show Maxx he is changing. Like him buying new bedding and towels. This is a shorter story compared to Blind though, but it sure isn't any less good.
There is another great cliffhanger for an ending. Normally I am not fond of these. But of course it just depends on the author. I am happy to say Xavier Neal does an excellent job with the cliffhangers. Yes, you want to know what happens but your more then happy to leave things as they are and jump right into the next story to find out how it continues. I give Deaf a FINE FOUR OUT OF FIVE SHOOTING STARS! It has loving characters, a great storyline, and is both fun and entertaining with some light humor. Lets see whats in store in the third book!
We're picking up in the second part of the Senses series with Maxx and Logan. Still trying to figure out what they want to do. Or rather, how to go about getting together. It feels like they finally figure it out. And at least one of them does.
It seems like Logan is making some pretty vital changes in his lifestyle. Working to make Maxx see who he wants to be, what he's willing to do for her. But Maxx is having a hard time dealing with it and feels like Logan is just doing/saying what he has to, to get what he wants. Their roles have reversed in the second part of their story. And there's a strong "It is, what it is" attitude present, as well.
We see more of the inner monologue writing style, which I absolutely love (I mean it. It really woks for how my brain functions.). And the cliffhanger is what gets me. Every. Time. I really don't like them, especially when we're left with so much feeling unfinished.
I'm about to dive into Numb, which will hopefully resolve a lot of the angsty, unfinished feelings that I have at the moment. I'll be back with the next review soon enough, I'm sure of it!
Deaf by Xavier Neal was part 2 of the Senses Series. There is another 3 parts to come. In this series we see the continuation of Maxx and Logan: all she wants is for him to realize that they are meant to be together and for him to quit being such a jerk, but he is not getting it. A comment from her stops him in his tracks, and causes him to ponder what life without his Maxx would be like. On the other hand we see him reaching out to a young man who has a similar fate that he had as a young man, and it was very touchiing.
Follow Maxx, Logan, and their two room mates through the stories of their lives and see what happens. You will not be disappointed! What will happen with Maxx and Logan? Will Logan finally come to terms with his fear of commitment? Will Maxx get tired of waiting for Logan and go with someone else?
You will have to read part 2 to find out. I liked this book and look forward to see what happens at the end of their story.
I gave this book 4**** Stars, and look forward to the next three parts.
