I was wondering if this was going to be the usual formula Mafia story, but I was very happy to find this is not the case.
Anastasia is not the usual Bratva princess who follows the rules. She persuades her father to allow her a week in Paris for artistic purposes. She manages to evade security, but is cornered by a rival Russian gang, when Viktor comes to her rescue. He takes her to his penthouse to evade other gang members. They end up in bed, but have to evade the rival gang, and separate. She never comes in contact with him again and later finds out she is pregnant. She is able to go to Switzerland for course where she gives birth. She is forced to leave her infant in the care of a nurse who keeps the baby secret.
When she returns for Switzerland to find her father has arranged a marriage for her to Viktor.
He has managed to become a trusted Lieutenant for Anastasia's father who murdered Viktor's family. He plans to murder her father in retaliation.
The heat between the Anastasia and Viktor is off the charts. She is forced to reveal the existence of the baby to Viktor.
They hatch a plan to end Mikhail's reign but not kill him.
They are betrayed which results in the rescue of Anastasia by Viktor and his forces.
The end of the story is wonderful which I don't want to reveal.
This story is very well written with a complex, well developed plot. The characters are very believable, with hot attraction between them.
You will definitely want to read this story.

This is the first book I’ve ever read by Evie Ward! I love Mafia reads and I will say that this one is different than the normal trope! I loved watch Anastasia grow up as the Don’s daughter and she is a sly and devious woman who has learned how to survive in this world. I love that her mother showed her a different outlook on being the heiress and skills that are frowned upon for women in the Bratva world.

I loved watching her show her true colors and drop her walls with Viktor in Paris only to be left stranded and somewhat heartbroken after their night. But I loved the fierce and determined woman that was born from that night and her determination to keep her new treasure safe as she navigates the male-dominant world.

Viktor is out for revenge from the Markova family for annihilating his family and he’s strategically worked for five years to get to the point. He knows who Anastasia is but he’s drawn to her. But is she truly different or just a distraction from his endgame? She truly falls into his lap as the Don proposes a new arrangement for him and Anastasia as he climbs the ranks within the Bratva covertly. Both Anastasia and Viktor are leery of this arrangement and he decides to keep extra vigilant when it comes to Anastasia! But when he finds something hidden and it’s revealed to be a picture with two silver eyes his whole world is flipped upside down!

I loved watching them together and trying to navigate this world and learning who they can and cannot trust. I love that they are trying to build a better life and future! The ending was rewarding with watching Anastasia stand up for herself and her life! I love that Viktor got his revenge but in a different way than he ever dreamed!

A few things that I struggled with - changing the spelling of names especially Viktor throughout the book. Now I did read an ARC so this could be fixed in the final version. And sometimes all the tactical and analytical speech about protocols and delegations and levels made it hard to understand and felt impersonal. So I did find myself skimming some of it and I would have to stop myself! Other than that I loved the different take on this Mafia world!

I’m excited for Lena’s book and I’m trying to figure out if Anton is Viktor’s Anton and right hand!

She was born a Bratva princess. She has always known what her duty will require, especially as her father's only heir. An arranged marriage. She decides to have something for herself before obligation comes calling for her. She meets a handsome older man and has a passionate night with him. The night was everything she hoped for but morning brought danger and complication, and while he helped her escape, he also disappeared and she thought she would never see him again. Her father is responsible for the murder of his family and he is determined to find justice. When he sees her out that night it is unexpected, and he certainly never expects to spend the night with her, but when their enemies come for them the next morning, he gets her to safety and knows he has to get back to his objective. Weeks go by and she is back at home, only to realize that she didn't leave their night alone, she is pregnant with his baby and has no idea how to get in touch with him. She has the baby in secret to protect it from her father, but when her marriage is arranged she is shocked to find out that it is to him, her baby's father. It is only a matter of time before all the secrets come out. If you like complex mafia plots, with militaristic influences this might be for you. This is a mafia drama/mission style story with moments of romance. If you like reading about "objectives, extraction points, security breaches, check points, and infiltration teams" then this might be for you. All of those terms are used multiple times throughout the story. If you are looking for an alpha dominant powerful bratva man just claiming her, this is not that story. She grew up being trained for the bratva so she is aware of much of the drama and how to navigate it. He is former military and out for revenge and is working with teams of people helping him via complex plans. They are each navigating drama and then have more to navigate together. This is most of the focus of the book with a couple of steam scenes and some tension. This was not a win for me, I personally want a romance with some drama and tension thrown in, not the other way around.

You might want to make sure to double check that you are buckled up, dangerous men, alpha’s personified, possessive, oh, gorgeous, brooding all the makings of a story consisting with three D’s (dark, delicious, and dirty) 😊. There will be suspense, betrayal, death, darkness, secrets reveled, violence, hope, forgiveness, and maybe even love along the way. Anastasia is sweet when she needs to be a princess who convinces her father to allow her a little time in Paris to enjoy her art but while there of course she does exactly most princess due ditch their security but runs into trouble with some gangs and needs to be saved by none other than Viktor who takes her back to his penthouse where that one night changes her path. Viktor sexy as all get out Bratva isn’t a man you want on your radar he is dangerous, ruthless on a good day, deadly every day when he saved a young woman from a rival gang, she left an impression and one night wasn’t enough but when she left to head back home, he never expected to see her again. But fate had other plans see a few months later Anastasia gave birth to the heir leaving the baby with a nurse her father arranged her marriage to the one man she never forgot the father of her child but all isn’t as it seems so hang on tight because there is betrayal, there is more to Viktor then meets the eye, Anastasia is stronger than most give her credit for, will he accept his baby, do they become a family, is her father as bad as they think, where are they headed, and will they find happiness somewhere along the way?

I want to start out by saying that I am a huge fan of Mafia storylines.
Let's start with the parts I loved. I loved both the heroin and the morally gray hero in this book! I loved that they were both independently strong but not overbearing. They complimented one another and I believed their chemistry.
I love that the MFCs mother played a huge roll in who she became throughout the story. I love that the characters were adaptable to their circumstances. My favorite part was the emphasis on a strong family unit and the unwavering love for a child that led to building something stronger and better!
Viktor's possessive vibes for Anastasia earned a 10/10 for me! I loved watching her become a need for him! The spicy scenes were tastefully done and realistic. I love a good protective alpha!
Now the not so great. I'm not a fan of the entire picture being painted for me in stories. I like some detail, but I want to be able to use my imagination as well. I felt like the author could have removed a lot of the details regarding locations and it would have added so much more to the story. I felt like the time spent reading all the descriptions took away from the storyline and the building of the characters.
Overall I did enjoy the story and characters. It was slow to get into the meat of the story, but around 45% of the way through, things definitely pick up and it keeps your attention from there on out.

This would have been my 1st 5 stars of the year, BUT there's a good (A LOT) amount of errors/missing words like the/a/but/my, etc. Also, a little too "technological wordy" which makes it somewhat repetitive. It comes across a little sterile, which makes the relationships not feel as seamless and compatible as they could be. There's smut but not alot (3 scenes).


Random thoughts.
-I love the FMC here. She actually did something instead of talking about it. She's a baddie.
- I didn't understand the MMC timeline with the FMC father. Why wait over a year to kill him once he was there? They didn't really give any reason as to why he was waiting. I do like MMC did show FMC all the info he had on Her father and his mission of vengeance.
"I can help you." The offer emerges unexpectedly. She steps closer, entering my personal space with deliberate intent that triggers an awareness between us. "Not with destroying my father—regardless of his crimes, I won't participate in his execution. But with targeted dismantling of criminal operations while preserving legitimate business structures. With surgical extraction of poison without destroying the foundations Sofia might someday inherit." The wrap up was perfect.

This is a new to me author and I enjoyed this book. Vicktor has been planning and totally focused on getting revenge on Anastasia's father for having killed his whole family. As he is doing surveillance and gathering evidence and information he notices his enemy's daughter is all alone with no guards and totally alone. Anastasia provides a new and different advantage for him to gather more insider information. Things spiral so fast for this couple, their chemistry is off the charts and now there is a child from their one night stand, and a whole lot of complications. The action is non-stop the chemistry is spicy, and the plot keeps you enthralled that you feel the need to keep going and finish the story so you can find out what happens. I enjoyed this book.

All he wanted was to get revenge for his family against Anastasia's father but coming to Anastasia's aid to fight off her captor's changes things and has a new outlet through her. Things heat up quickly between them and what he had in mind backfires when feelings and two pink lines come into the mix. Will Viktor and Anastasia's path lead them to happiness. This story had me all caught up in the characters and their drama.

It was kinda slow for the first 50%
I'm not a fan of the entire picture being painted for me in stories. I appreciate some detail, but I also want to be able to use my imagination sometimes. The author could have removed a lot of the details regarding locations, and it would have added so much more to the story. The time I spent reading all the descriptions and missions and planning took away from the storyline and the building of the characters.
Overall, I did enjoy the story and characters. It was slow to get into the main deal in the story, but around 65% through, things pick up.

This mafia romance book is going to leave you squirming in your seat while reading about Viktor and Anastasia as well as hot bothered and breathless. I was instantly hooked by the cover and once I started reading this mafia romance book Evie has me hooked due to the AMAZING storyline. I can't wait to read the next book in this series, because I know it is going to be just a fantastic as this book right here.

What a page turner! Action packed, full of intrigue and unexpected twists. Anastasia and Viktor are two very complexed characters whose lives entertwined beautiful. One must admire the strength of Anastasia throughout the book as she navigates through friends, family and foe.

This book was disappointing and unrealistic. A mafia leader does not send his only daughter to Paris without any security or bodyguard. They lied to each other had a one night stand she got pregnant. You would think at this age these people would know how babies are made.
