I quite enjoyed reading this short booklet. I read the first portion and then skimmed through the recipes that followed. Though I have yet to make any of them, I am excited to try. The section on the historical use of sourdough was of the greatest interest to me.
This book discusses a simple way to make a sourdough starter, and use it in recipes. Most starter recipes require days or weeks, need you to throw away half and refresh, and then wait. That’s way too much trouble — even if it does work which is not guaranteed. I don’t think the pioneers had this much time to fiddle with sourdough but still had good results. The directions in this book seem much more attuned to my lifestyle.
Pretty helpful, I'm actually working on my starter right now. I think the recipes in this sound lovely too. Helpful and clear little pocket book. Recommended to any beginner bakers…which is currently me.
