Another great book. This one, however, is not a time travel romance story, and because when a new Elyse Douglas book comes out, I just read it, never bothering to carefully read the cover. So I started to get a little confused when halfway through the book a few potential lovers showed up but were rebuffed. But this was an interesting and exciting book with great characters and plot ideas. Plenty of twists, too. You never knew until the very end if things would work out or not. This is certainly a book worth reading.

Non-stop Intrigue.. Unexpected Turns!!! And Masterful Story Telling!

Elyse Douglas weaves a tale with solid characters, unexpected turns and great narrative! I couldn’t put this book down but had to read, devouring page after page of action and compelling dialogue. It’s clear that Ms. Douglas is an expert story-teller and I’m on the lookout for other adventure time travel stories which I very much hope she will continue to write! Time Travel fiction at its best!!

Great surprise

Based on the cover art, I was expecting your basic time travel tale. Instead, what I got was an engrossing story that held my attention until 3AM. On Xmas eve. With two grandkids who would be up and scrambling in less than three hours. But I still couldn't close the book. Just a great story, from a pretty unique perspective. Nicely done!

I kept waiting for the romance!

I think this is the best story I've read by these authors. As most of their books have had a romance within the pages, I did find myself assessing all the male characters as potential partners for the h. I don't know whether I enjoyed this book more than their other books because a romance wasn't crammed in to an already energetic book, or whether the story and/or writing was better. Who knows? But I recommend it!

Time Risk

I have always been fascinated about time travel: about how our timeline could change and would be remember both timelines.
I like this story, but not the ending......Attention: SPOILERS
We see that Rachel's sister is there because of one small change in history. What was that change?? Inquiring minds want to know!

Wow this was a fascinating book and I found it hard to put down. Rachel has been offered the chance to time travel back to Pearl Harbor right before December 7,1941. Her task is to stop a pilot from going after the Japanese after the Pearl Harbor attack. It’s not as easy as it seems and she runs into many obstacles. If she does succeed, it could change the course of history. It left me thinking a lot and I loved it! I will definitely look for more of this author’s books to read!

WOULD YOU TRAVEL 80 YEARS INTO THE PAST TO SAVE ONE MAN DURING WAR TIME WHEN THOUSANDS WERE KILLED

☆☆☆☆☆

That's just what Rachel Hunt did. She risked her life for a man, the father of the man who employed her to risk her life and everything she knew to try and save his father who was killed during the attack on Hawaii by the Japanese that forced the U.S. into World War II December 7th, 1941. Rachel, a strong ex-cop from Cleveland, Ohio takes on the challenge of traveling through time from 2024 to December 3rd, 1941 to locate and prevent David Wiltlock from perishing on December 7th as did so many did on that tragic day.

Time Risk 1: A Time Travel Thriller of Pearl Harbor – Book 1 (Time Risk Series) by Elyse Douglas is one of those books that will not only show you a bit of history but will draw you into the storyline with the intriguing situations that Rachel finds herself in. The characters are ones that are easily to relate to and you will find yourself drawn into the tale as Rachel risks her life against crime organizations, naval intelligence that are looking to everyone as a possible treat to the U.S. as well as the compilations of a country on the verge of war.

Rachel meets up with a couple of reporters that add to the thrilling events that play into a cat and mouse case for life and death situations that will keep your interest and even touch you emotionally at times when the possibilities of the lives of the people Rachel comes in touch with. She also has to deal with the fact that if she changed history by interfering with events that might change history to the point that could be destructive to the current world of 2024 and all that live in 2024.

Elyse Douglas and her husband has most definitely put together a first book in a trilogy of what will no doubt be considered one of the top time-travel historical fiction series that is action-packed and thrilling and is easily recommend for all ages. If you haven't had the opportunity to read any of the Douglas' books, I would highly recommend this book as a great place to start.

Quotes:
"Age makes you confront yourself. Age makes you think about your past, and now that time is about to run out on me, that past keeps me up nights."

Elyse Douglas hits and homerun with this book about time travel. Sorry, no baseball is mentioned in the book this was my trying to say this is an excellent book. The characters are interesting and well handled. The plot is woven very well. The time period is very well done. Yes, I might have put double meaning in that last sentence. The ending has its unexpected, but logical aspects. The book is a one book story and does not leave you hanging. Since the cover says Book 1 A Time Travel Novel, I am assuming any future series books will have the time travel machine staff and other characters and other storylines. I highly recommend this book!

A new time travel series for me.

I really enjoy time travel books and this was a good one. The fact that she travels back to a time in history that is fairly familiar to most of us made it more interesting for me. Looking forward to reading more of their books.

Elyse Douglas is back again with one thrilling ride in the time travel genre.

Elyse Douglas' latest novel, "Time Risk," is a captivating addition to the time travel genre, offering readers a thrilling journey through history with a unique twist. The story follows Rachel Hunt, a former homicide detective with a tarnished reputation, who is recruited by an elderly billionaire, Andrew Whitlock, to undertake a daring mission: to travel back in time to Honolulu just days before the infamous attack on Pearl Harbor. The objective is to save Andrew's father, a pilot destined to perish in the attack, but as Rachel delves deeper into the past, she finds herself entangled in a web of espionage and intrigue that threatens to alter history itself. Douglas skillfully weaves a narrative that is as much about the characters' personal struggles as it is about the broader implications of time travel. Rachel's character is particularly well-developed, portraying a complex individual grappling with her own demons while facing the monumental task of changing history. The author's attention to detail and historical accuracy adds depth to the story, immersing the reader in the tense atmosphere of pre-war Honolulu.

The novel's pacing is impeccable, with Douglas maintaining a balance between fast-paced action sequences and quieter, introspective moments. This allows for a deeper connection with the characters and a greater understanding of the stakes involved. The tension builds steadily as the date of the Pearl Harbor attack approaches, keeping readers on the edge of their seats as they wonder whether Rachel will succeed in her mission. "Time Risk" is not just a time travel story; it's a reflection on the consequences of our actions and the delicate fabric of history. Douglas challenges readers to consider the ethical dilemmas of time travel and the responsibility that comes with the power to change the past. With its compelling plot, rich character development, and thought-provoking themes, "Time Risk" is a must-read for fans of the genre and newcomers alike. It's a testament to Douglas' prowess as a storyteller and her ability to keep the time travel narrative fresh and exciting. If you're looking for a book that combines historical intrigue with a modern twist, "Time Risk" is the perfect choice. Don't miss this intriguing read; get your copy today!

Two stars doesn't mean I didn't like the story, but it was a bit much on the imagination. TT is not something you can ever believe in, not if you are a rational human being, but it is a bit of a crazy obsession to keep you from fictional boredom.
This story is no exception to the rule of, "Maybe". "Probably not, but maybe".
My issue with it was that it kept bogging down in sappy, silly fluffy background things, like picking out dresses, or gloves, or what china settings were used and the scent of flower blossoms in the air. We get it, most of the action takes place in Honolulu, in 1941, so all those props were present in abundance. But I got tired of reading the filler pages and wound up just paging through and past, stopping only when dialogue appeared to be more interesting.
The characters are a bit shallow, not very well developed and the secondary plot of having a journalist murdered for a vague rumor of yellow journalism was too overdone and pointless. It served to distract from the plot.
I did enjoy the self-defense strategies the main character displayed. That was an interesting set point for the time period of self-effacing, timid and retiring women of the era.
The conclusion was just confusing and felt a bit forced. There seemed to be too many loose ends to gather together to make a cohesive ending. It was a typical "happy ending" though so I suppose the fictional goal was met for a light YA audience. I don't think this story was for more sophisticated or adult readers, it's too insipid and dreamy, but I think it will entertain for an afternoon.
I recommend it, but with the caveat of two stars, knowing what you are going to get is certainly not a novel you will never forget. Still, it was readable.

Firstly I loved this story but there are a lot of things that I questioned from the beginning, firstly how are they going to pay her millions to go back in time when if she was successful they wouldn't know that they promised her millions! AND if she was successful then the time travel company may not even exist. There may be explanations for these and other questions but it was blowing my mind and I wish it was somehow addressed.

Unlikely, Simple, Yet Entertainjng

Recognizing that this is time-travel, science fiction, it seems redundant to criticize it fit being unrealistic. The unfolding of the plot reminded me of a “Hallmark Channel” movie… Too pat, too simple, too shallow. Yet I read to the end and was not surprised to see Rachel’s sister turn out to be alive.

Deliver us from evil time travel

The message gleaned from this TT romance is that it’s best left between the pages of pulp fiction. It’s fun to consider how we might change our past, but the reality is that we cannot and even if we did, those mistakes would still be in our minds forever. Better to live our lives as best we can, protecting our future from this moment forward.

A great adventure into the past....

I was only 7 months old at the time of this book. what an interesting look back to that harrowing time that we all studied about in history, saw in movies, or read in other books. Rachel's emotions and in sight to time travel was fascinating. I enjoy time travel stories but seldom thought about the nuances of the situation.

excellent read but….

Ending was a wash …. Didn’t stand up the rigour and action of the story. Too bad. Dumb that her sister just showed up… like Douglas ran out of steam. Would have made a great book 2

Fabulous!

In the lingo of the 1940s this was just swell! It is one of my favourites of the husband and wife team as I live stories from the early to mid 1900s. Once I started reading, I could barely put it down.; I wish this was part of a mini series.

This was a good action-packed novel. I really liked time traveling during and going back to ww2. If you expect romance in this novel... it is not here. But don't let that keep you away from this novel.

Good

Read it in 2 days. Too bad it's not a series but a single book, as I really enjoyed the main character. She's bad ass, credible and charismatic. And I'm pretty sure that there is more to tell than in one story.
