Stubborn Skill-Grinder in a Time Loop #2

The Stubborn Skill-Grinder In a Time Loop 2: A LitRPG Adventure

Rate this book
Betrayed by the Gods, bearing unwanted Blessings which stain his soul with their foul divine taint, Orodan faces pursuit as the hostile divinities of Inuan seek to reclaim what they see as theirs.

Dire odds, even for a time looper.

And if unwanted godly attention wasn't enough, the ever-present threat of the Eldritch Avatar and the world's inevitable corruption draws nearer as always.

Facing danger right from the beginning of each loop, Orodan must fight, die and repeat. Too bad he's never been one to quit; and never been one for planning and clever schemes.

What's one to do when surrounded by hostile Gods and world-ending monstrosities on all sides? For Orodan, the answer was simple. Run his head into the wall over and over, until either the wall broke, or he did. And by now, his head had grown quite resilient.

Book 2 in this fast-paced LitRPG Adventure about Orodan and his progression toward becoming extremely overpowered using a time loop.

The series features a detailed system, loads of skills, varied progression paths, deep worldbuilding, cultivation aspects, and a heroic character you can't help but root for!

I am not really sold on this one. There was a large chunk in the middle that…plodded. I was too distractible. The ending was good, but I found reasons to read other things.

Not sure I will continue with book 3. The concept is fun, but it just didn’t keep the momentum found in book 1.

The difficult second book after making the character basically invincible in the first one. It can work, but this doesn’t unfortunately. There’s no overarching goal or tension, just him dicking around doing whatever takes his fancy. Clean the sewers? Sure! Make friends with a mole guy! Learn jewellery polishing! Have an adventure! No, scratch that last one. Oh well.

While feeling shorter was still enjoyable

Even though this book isn't all that shorter, for some reason it felt a lot shorter. As if the first book just packed in more events into it's pages while this one was more just three or four big loop sections.

That aside lots of progress, though didn't feel as impactful even if some good skills, was still good read and ready for the next one.

No real negatives about anything the main character did in this book and his outlook. Stayed true to character and was entertaining.

Hopes? Well one hope is he gets a memory skill of some sort. To make a list of all the things to do in case he ever figures out the time loop. From Discovering the Well and Mine for that one Clan. To getting the spider-dragon, to teaching his friend the elemental fist...To...well lots of things. So many that he surely should have some mental list so he never forgets.

Also a big hope that he learns how to set a checkpoint or something to start his time loops at a new spot. Even if he tests it to just be an hour later before going and doing all the stuff on a 'list' and resetting the time loop in like 5 months so he has a new spot to start from and has all the stuff settled as he wants it. That would be neat.

Second big future hope? That he learns Chrono-mancey and uses it to repair a certain orb of his friend's that got broke. Should be able to reverse time and un-break it right? Really hope to see him do that and what effects undoing it would do. Like if the author doesn't have him learn that magic and have him do it at least once. I'd be super disappointed. Like he doesn't have to reverse everything about the orb just it itself to unbreak in that present time.

Here hoping the next books are just as good. While won't mind if all the time-loops always start the same day, almost every author does that and it's super sad to never have his external efforts matter. Don't want to have to wait till a final loop like most books for it to matter. So a new checkpoint to start looping from would be really nice.

Solid second entry into this series, with continuation of Orodan's time looping adventures. There are new characters and regions with many enjoyable battles and progression. Mysteries are present with more every time new information is revealed. I did enjoy the side character in this book more than the previous, though they still feel very two dimensional. My biggest gripe with this book is the power scaling. I felt like the series power levels are starting to grow exponentially which drastically reduced my enjoyment. The ending while enthralling and exciting while reading, leaves a bitter taste in my mouth as a I wonder at the end goal of the story.

a clean book

With grinding out the loops came the grind of the story. The author did a good job of trying to introduce new things but most was a repeat of everything the first book offered. The next book looks to venture into new territory. There was balanced usage of anyhow and anyway but my pet peeve of writing is adding an ‘s’ to anyway. Never would you add an ‘s’ to the words anyhow or however and that is your clue as to when you should add it to anyway; which is never.

The Stubborn Skill-Grinder continues to impress!

I continue to be very pleasantly amazed by how good this series is turning out to be. Great characters, great plot and great action! Plus, great mysteries also continue to exist and to tease us with the hope of eventually understanding them. I am sooo looking forward to book three in this series. Do yourself a real favor and read this book and this series. You WILL be VERY glad that you did!! :)

Very lame ending

This was a very good series. I really enjoyed it and I like the way it was going, but the main character has changed so radically from the beginning of the book series to the end of this book so much so that I find myself extremely disappointed in this series. So much so that I think I’m going to stop with this book. There are too many other good book series out there that I can put my time too. I just don’t find this one worth it anymore.

Boring

I'm a time looper blah blah. I'm stubborn and really stupid and I cannot die that and I'm powerful enough to be a God. The mc really is stupid cause just to the middle of the book he died millions of time. Just to be real here no matter how strong you are after all the deaths he would be a vegetable his mind would shut down just from the trauma.

hard to maintain this kind of plot

I enjoyed the first book and parts of this one but I lost interest in the end when it seemed like this was destined to just be another mountain to climb in each book with a shorter timeframe to deal with. Guess novelty of the story started battling the lack of much character development for the rest of the cast.

Absolutely Fantastic

This story of a guy in a time loop that only resets on his death, but he keeps his stat gains was a pleasure to read. He is a tad too stubborn and a little unhinged as he will fight for thousands of times against the same foe till he wins.
At the end the System puts a bounty on him, so I can’t wait for the next book. GREAT Stuff

Great Read

This book continues the pace of the first one and does not let up. Orodan continues to grow stronger and find more and more difficult foes to fight. Loved it and can’t wait for the next!

Great sequel

Fantastic story and writing. The development of the main character just keeps getting better and better, he is over powered but stays himself. It's just a great story and can't wait for the next

Despite being formulaic and somewhat repetitive, I had no trouble sticking with this story. Even after the hidden powers aspect was left behind, there was enough to keep it interesting. The ending was excellent, leaving me wanting more.

Amazing Continuation!

That ending will have you begging for the next book to come out now!! I love the direction this story keeps going in and how you never know what major turn the story might take next. The skills, characters, and fights were all fantastic and I need more!

It's just so good.

The second book was as good as the first one. With the first one you are left thinking he is overpowered right? What more can there be? Wow there was so much more to do in book two! And I can not wait for books 3!

I read this book on Royalroad as it was being written. This is my way of showing support for the author.
The MC has managed to get a lot stronger, but my feeling is that he hasn't really grown as a person.

7/10 Still worth reading if you don't have anything else.

Me and Orodan Wainwrite are done for now...

This book was a tedious listen (Audible), and I dont think I will continue my journey. It was a little slow, and not much character development, and I get that the MC is under 20, and so there is not much there...

Strangely interesting.

Yes it’s a grinding lirpg but it keeps morphing. Layers appear and get stripped away yet there is a storyline and complexity. Much better than the first and addictive. I’m looking forward to the next one.

Was great until the author gave in

Was a good book/series but the author is giving in to pressure to include elements in their stories that get you banned from writing reviews if you directly mention them. Until that point I was enjoying the story.

Orodan Wainwright would never have guessed where his choices would take him but his plan of operation is still the same, keep battering that wall with his head until it breaks. Battering against Gods might need a larger battering ram but that's okay - Orodan loves a good challenge.

This is exactly what it says on the box. A litrpg time loop progression with stats. It won't be for everyone, the very nature of the story is repetitive - but for those that love time loops and love stats this should be on the list. It can be a bit of a slog in parts - the comment about Orodan's head being a battering ram for a wall is not an understatement - but I really enjoyed it. The author does well to incorporate the repetition of the time loops into time skips when necessary, which gives a nice reprieve at the right times.

The plot is detailed and the world building is elaborate. This second book expands even further heading into the land of the Gods and Outer Space. There was some investigation into a few of the mysteries surrounding Orodan's existence and his links to the System but there's still a lot to be discovered in future installments. I liked Orodan but I love the supporting characters he's made friends with. Adeltaj Simarji and Arvayne Firesword were the best and I liked the Emperor. There isn't anything new here, but it's well written and incorporates all my favourite tropes. It wasn't quite as good as the first one but it's exactly what it says.

A battering ram of a litrpg time loop progression. 3 stars.

It follows an enjoyable formula. It’s not like the perfect book that changes your viewpoint on life, but it does the thing you want a silly book to do.

Book 2 continues with a bit of a different view of the time loop/skill grind trope. Very well done. Recommended. :)
