Nehemiah found his good thang in Eden Lynette Crawford. They met, dated, and married all within six months. Eleven years later they are thriving in their careers. Nehemiah as Executive Pastor of Unlimited Grace Church and Eden as an Investigative Reporter with JMT Broadcasting.
But behind closed doors, their marriage is starving.
Eden longs to understand why her husband has withdrawn, emotionally and physically, but Nehemiah refuses to confront the growing distance between them. Frustrated, tired, and without answers, the final rejection is the first time Eden walks away.
But an unexpected return home reveals a secret Nehemiah has been hiding. One that threatens not only their trust, but the very vow they made before God.
In the final installment of the What Did You Vow? series, discover whether “Until Death Do Us Part” is a promise they can survive… or a sentence their marriage cannot escape.
Lakisha Johnson, native Memphian and author of over ten titles was born to write. She’ll tell you that “Writing didn’t find me, it’s was engraved in my spirit when I was created.” Along with being an author, she is an ordained minister, co-pastor, wife, mother and the product of a large family.
She is an avid blogger at kishasdailydevotional.com and social media poster where she utilizes her gifts to encourage others to tap into their God given talents. She won’t claim to be the best at what she does nor does she have all the answers, she is simply grateful to be used by God
This was God-ordained indeed. Beautiful and heartbreaking story. It gets as real as it can get in this story. Everyone needs to read this book, and everyone needs to read this series. Amen 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Executive Pastor, Nehemiah has been married to his beautiful wife Eden for almost eleven years. But, their marriage bed is cold and Eden can’t help but wonder why. As an Investigative Reporter, her mind starts wandering and while away on a business trip, temptation reared its ugly head. Little does she know, Nehemiah is indeed hiding a secret…one that will change their lives forever.
The sixth installment of this series deals with sickness and how it affects both parties in the marriage. Was I upset with Nehemiah for keeping his secret for so long…Yes? Did I think Eden overreacted to the revelation…Definitely. But, at the end of the day, I understood both sides and cried like a baby as everything unfolded. What I loved most about this series by @kishajohnson is that it dealt with relatable issues that many don’t talk about. My favorite character is a tie between Nehemiah and Harlem. Oh, the tears I cried for these two, and I can honestly say that I couldn’t find a least favorite character.
I must also state that the Spirit led me to read this series, and when I asked God why, in my prayer time, He told me that it would all be revealed at the end. Thank God for intel. This series should be included in premarital counseling sessions as well as marital counseling. I promise you will not leave the same.

My Insight:
All I can say is 'Wow... this book left me breathless from start to finish.' The author masterfully illustrates the complexities of a love that, while deep, can falter without the foundation of communication. In the end, despite all they shared, Nehemiah's silence becomes a chasm between him and Eden. He thought he was shielding her from his struggles, not realizing that the very act of sharing his burdens could have helped heal the rifts that had grown between them. When the truth began to unravel, it moved me to tears.
This is a poignant story that everyone should experience; it beautifully highlights the vital importance of honesty and connection in any relationship. The writing is both compelling and impactful, leaving a lasting impression. This is a story you must read to appreciate how well the author crafted it. You will gain a great deal from it. Thank you to the author for an outstanding read!
A heartfelt thank you to the author for delivering such an extraordinary read.
I'm speechless. We all act differently at things. Temptation is everywhere but understanding the state of your home is important. At first I was leaning towards something else. I was wondering what Pastor was hiding. But God...Has his way and his timing... I can't imagine. I loved that Eden was fire angry but yet understood makenthe best out of what was left. She was right to feel what she felt. Pastor tried to protect her but they needed each other. He also prepared to guide her with the help of Harlem and videos. Thank you for this read being about commitment and serving God. I enjoyed this✨️✨️✨️
Lakisha, what a good read. I felt a way because my mind went right to the wrong thing. Thank you for showing we need to have faith instead of fear. Was this a great lesson on how people may want to save you from heartbreak but it doesn't come out the correct way.
It was such a caring read. I was glad for the support that was given in this situation.🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
What did you Vow is the question? This last read of the series really made me think, feel and take account of my household. The main characters Nehemiah and Eden really resonated with me, both not really communicated to each other and most importantly hearing what was really going on with both of them. Communication is the key and not just trying to do and say what we think is best for the other. Talk, hear, express and show action in a marriage.
Tears, Tears, and more Tears.’’ This was another amazing read. You definitely did your thing’ I truly needed to read this and thank you for putting together such great reads of every day life and what people are going through. I love the characters in the book and I’m happy Eden forgave him and her sister. It definitely made me laugh, cry, think, and breathe. Job well done as always.’
I loved this book. Lakisha Johnson has done it again. Finished the book in 1 1/2 days. Thought at first that Nehemiah was having an affair, was shocked that he was sick and dying. Loved the video he made for Eden. I do hope that there will be more to this series. May the Lord continue to bless Lakisha, Thank you.

This book had it all, laughs, crying, delusions and it keeps your attention. This is beyond the “Christian” books and shows real life. Much appreciated, now I think I’m caught up on all your books!
Although this novel is a fictional story, the topic depicted in this book, feels so realistic. From the characters to the storyline, had me thinking about my own marriage and how death is inevitable.
This one had me tearing up, I did not expect that one. Sigh, I just thought he was going to end up saying he was impotent and was embarrassed to tell her.
This is probably the saddest book I read by Leaks ha , but it was awesome. We are not promise tomorrow. Get it together now people. I live your wrting. Keep them coming.
