The anxious asexual Jake Logan is the main focus of his biologist best friend's experiment but Harvey's experiment brings up feelings for Jake and instead of focusing on his experiment, the boys go on a journey to find the source of Jake's anxiety which means a four hour drive across the country to go and see his dad.
I don't know what I'd do with myself if I didn't write!
I decided to try and write my first novel when I was 13, all with a notepad and a pen, 100 odd pages later I shared it with my Year Nine English teacher who encouraged me to continue although that story never got further than a pen and a notepad my second attempt at a novel Choreography got further, the idea was formed during a Year 10 Creative Writing Class and took around two years to complete and was my first published novel.
As I've grown up and matured as have my characters and their experiences. Every character I write goes through a development whether it's within themselves, within their life choices or within the people around him. So whether you want to join 14 year old Nathan as he discovers his sexuality and his talent, 16 year old Ryan as he manages to juggle a relationship whilst trying to win a competition or even 24 year old Kevin who starts to realise how much fun a relationship can be, you'll find something within all of them that makes you want to cheer them on and let them come out on top (In life, not always in the bedroom!)
I tend to write more LGBT fiction and Romance with the occasional Paranormal story thrown in, they range from 50 to 400 pages and all have little connections that some people may not notice the first time!
So, if you decide for this book be prepared that it was self-published, and the author has dyslexia and so you will find there many grammar mistakes. Really many, since no one edited it.
If you can look through all the mistakes you have a really nice short book, with sympathetic characters, nice plot and also a nice and easy story-line. Don't have too high expectations, because this book is really more for relaxation.
When I read it it really made me calm down and kinda happy of how cute and sweet it was. Were more people like this the world would really be a better place.
This book is about a 17/18 year old twin who suffers from anxiety and who is asexual. The entire story is well thought-through, the characters are very symapthetic and it's a pleasure to read. I myself suffer from anxiety so I can relate very well with him. The asexual part is very interesting to read because you don't come across somebody like that in 'normal' life very often. would definitely recommend this book to anybody who's a little bit interested in Psychology but also to everybody else. It opens eyes. The only thing that bothered me were the spelling mistakes. There were a lot of them, for example 'your' and 'you're', which is easy to get right.
I did like the core of this book, trying to get to the bottom of what triggered anxiety attacks and a best friend being a great ally trying to prove that asexuality is its own thing. I could even ignore the sometimes rough reading (typos, attribution, paragraphing). But I felt the book made some logical leaps I did not agree with, I have soooo many thoughts about the therapist, and the plot/focus would often jump around and they're not really integrated.
If you're desperate for ace reads, go ahead and read this. There's worse, but there's also better.
I thought the idea behind this book is quite clever - an experiment to understand asexuality from a non-asexual POV. I quite enjoyed it and had no problems with some of the editorial errors in the book.
