It's written as well as Rejected and Despised, but without the complexity of the subject matter. The psychological torment of a composer who is a closeted gay man and consciencious objector during WW1 is a much more fertile ground than the psychological torment of a composer. I enjoyed the book well enough, but I won't read it again.
