THIS IS THE COMPLETE SERIES. Find out how the story begins, and how it ends. A book of 7 girls living in the most ratchet, drama filled, gossip spreading city of Atlanta. In this book I tap into the stereotypes of black girls from hoes, oreos, hood rats, and your average nerds, and boujie girls. Each having their own separate story to tell that makes this book one complete series. Find out how they find love, hate, heartbreak, and much more in the city of ATL.
Just here to update this profile. I'm actually not 25 anymore but I'll be 30 next year haha. Still writing. Wow. Can't believe it. Current book I'm working on as I type this; Moon Child.
No matter how many times I read this series (and this was like the 6th or 7th time) it never loses any of its gusto. It’s still an AMAZING series. It’s still just as funny. It’s still just as real. The characters are so realistic and being that I’m from South Carolina as well it just seems as if they’re all ppl you know. This author is literally my favorite. 💯⭐️📖💯⭐️📖

This series had over 20 characters lol but listen I caught on quickly. Amari, Indie, Toni, Lo, Dorian, Harlem and India were my favs. This series had everything going on from white ppl saying the n word, LGBTQ, extreme drama, and lots of sex lol. I read this series straight only stopping to get some sleep or work but I finally finished all four books and definitely recommend. Besides the errors throughout this book I enjoyed the humor and characters drama and their development.
This was such a great read. So many different personalities and crazy characters. Different dynamics of relationships. It was very relatable to all the things that go on in my state Capital. By far my favorite characters were Jeremy and Amari.
Just wow. Desiree is a gifted story teller. I’m going to now read all her work in list order. Character development was great. I’m starting “The Carter Boys” today.
Loved it! Refreshing break from the usual hood novels. I enjoyed going on the journey with the different couples. I loved Amari, Dorian, and India. Nariah and Lo surprised the hell out of me!Good book that kept my attention the whole way through. There were a few grammatical errors otherwise I would have gave 4 stars.
I usually don't like alot of characters but this story was cohesive enough that I was able to keep up with all of them. This book gave me a little bit of everything and I enjoyed it.
I've always heard good thing about this series and they never lied. I think what I like mostly is the righting style an how open the author made the character. They are the perfect personalities of college life. There were a lot of characters in the story, but not so much you can't keep up. At some points characters crossed bringing more life to it. It even tripped out how the character talked backed to the readers. The book is full of life, drama, and surprises. You get a feel of hurt and pain, but it also give pleasure once the angry is no longer in denial. They party hard, the smoke they drink, but family and relationships remain protected.
This book is poorly written. Too many spelling & vocabulary errors. Too many characters, no real point in the trilogy, and definitely too ghetto. Not a true depiction of college Greek life either. I’m done with this author. Avid readers will not enjoy this author. No depth to her writing.
I enjoyed reading these novels. At first, I wasn't expecting it to be so many stories placed together in one overarching plot line so it felt daunting to keep up with. But, the interweaving of different perspectives worked out nicely because you were able to truly understand the backgrounds of all the characters. When I realized that it was a four in one combo I became more appreciative of the content. It is urban literature, meaning that it is based in ATL and centers around the lives of African Americans that are just trying to make some sense of their positions in the world. You get the feeling of black culture through voice, descriptions, settings, and characterizations.
More than that though, I loved reading it because past all of the drama there were a lot of cultural themes that stood out to me, one being, the different subcultures of blackness. You had everything from there being a Jamaican, to a virgin, to someone that's hypermasculine yet a part of the LGBTQ community, to greek life, to those who aren't in college but on the outside looking in. There wasn't a category of blackness Granger didn't touch upon.
It's not the genre that I'm used to reading, but it was still well written for it to be so vastly different. There are some areas where she can take the plot a step further in order to increase the empathy that her reader has for certain characters. Overall, this isn't too lengthy and I was able to finish all four in a week's time span so I highly recommend it.
Reading this was like watching a messy reality show where everybody’s dating everybody, somebody’s always lying, and you just know someone’s about to throw a drink. It’s drama from page one to the very end, and honestly? I was entertained… and also exhausted 😩.
This series has a lot of characters. Like, a LOT. Every time I thought I had them all down, boom—new person with a whole backstory and mess of their own. Some I loved. Some I hated. Some I hated but was still invested in because… well, I’m nosy 😅. And some just vanished like they never existed (Desiree, girl??).
There were moments that had me rooting for people, moments that had me rolling my eyes, and moments where I had to put the book down like ain’t no way they really just did that. It’s definitely one of those stories where you’re yelling at characters like they can hear you.
But if you’re looking for growth and accountability? Ehh… not everyone got the karma they deserved. Some of them needed to get dragged and instead got happily ever afters 🙄.
Still, it was a ride. A dramatic, messy, wild ride. I laughed, I gasped, I rolled my eyes, and I kept reading—so that says something. If you like your books with chaos, hookups, and a side of “I can’t believe this,” then go ahead and trust-read it. Just don’t get too attached to anybody 😬.
This book was a good read from start to finish. My favorite character was India. I love how she captured Lo’s heart without being the prettiest, the most popular, or over the top female. India was the calm to Lo’s storm. I just wasn’t buying Toni and Talin’s relationship. They say opposites attract, but that was a far stretch. Plus their story seemed rushed. My least favorite was messy boots Nariah. Amari should of dog walked her like she did Tiffany. Poor Dorian was a sucka for love and so naive. He fell for the two biggest floosies in the book. My favorite couple was Harlem and Troy. Troy was everything Harlem didn’t know/think she was looking for. All I can do is smh at Jasmine and Marcus.
There should be a couple of spoon offs though such as... My favorite couple: Toni and Talin...really nothing to say they are so cute and opposite but it works. Toni left came back got married and now a baby!!! There should be more to them. Mari & Jeremy will they get it together? They complement each other. I think their relationship could withstand the tests of times. India& Lo If they can bounce back through all their issues they will have a beautiful life ahead. Teagan & Rashaud their sex game is strong!! She has seemed to tame the beast within him in ALL aspects. Harlem & Troy I think they are a bigger influence on each other than they thought. Hope more to come with theses couples. NOW FOR THEY OTHERS... Alex is too full of herself needs a check. Marcus silk be fine now that his secret is out and he and Keon can be together in peace, but there lies a long road ahead. Nariah will always be a ghetto, bitter, and miserable no good hoe. Age had the BEST MAN a girl could ask for!
I read this before starting Carter girls series to get a background on the characters. My favorite couple was Harlem and Troy. Even though I was giving Troy major side eye in the beginning because I thought he was using Harlem lol I loved Amari, India, Dorian and Toni.
There were things that happened in the relationships that were a big no for me and I didn’t like how Amari and India forgave their partners so easily. Jeremy didn’t deserve Amari and India should have left Lo
I know that this book was first 4 separate books that the author decided to combine into 1. The errors in the books brought my rating down 2 stars. It has potential to be a five star book, even with all the characters in it. I loved how all the characters intertwined with one another. There was a lot of drama, secrets coming out, and disloyalty.
Great story teller !!! I’m out of order reading your series lol Wow I literally sat down for 6 hours to read the whole thing ignoring everything around me 😂😂. I loved loved loved Teagan, India, Harlem, Reno, Troy and Lo. I thought Jeremy was going to be my book bae but that secret had me like 🤯🤯🤯. Welp on to the next series on the list. Good job!
This was such a great series so many characters so much action plots twist and turns but I was thoroughly intrigued since the beginning and couldn’t stop reading until I reached the end...Definitely and amazing 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 read and I can’t wait to dive into more books
My co worker recommended this book and author. I love how she went into detail with each character that really made you feel like like you got to know who the characters were I really can't say anything bad about this book it kept my attention which made for a good read.
This was my first read by Desiree and to say I was floored is an understatement. The interweaving if characters and relationships was everything. I read the entire series over the weekend just couldn’t put it down. I will definitely be adding Ms. Desiree to my must read authors
This series was everything!!! I need more, I really need more from these characters and the Sky sisters
I love that the women weren't needy, and trusted their partners. I need a story for Yoda I literally couldn't put my phone down, I got caught so many times reading at work, not to mention the sleep I missed
This book was really good ; well books, I should say. I loved the gossip, the fighting, the drama. I was definitely here for it. Amari was my favorite character in the book. Only reason why I gave it 4 stars was because of the grammar. After a while, it started to get annoying. Aside from that, all 4 books were great.
3.5⭐️ Okay I was hoodwinked, bamboozled, led astray! At the end of Carter Boys, it was suggested that I needed to read this book b4 going to The Carter Girls. The ONLY Carter Boy on this story was Talin and it was very limited!
Now reading the full set of books was horrible; but I kept reading looking for The Carter Boys!
I love how she writes her stories; but the editing is frustrating!
I’m going to read The Carter Girls and see what’s going on.
UPDATE: you definitely need to read this before The Carter Girls.
I'm soo glad Dorian dropped ole guh...whew chile...I also wishes Talin and his boo had their own story! I loved their story the most!! Very good! Now I'm patiently (not) waiting for Nirvana to come out! Hey Ms.D you go girl!!
This is my first read by this author and it sure won't be my last! I was in a reading stump and this took me right out! This was filled with ratchet drama, heartbreak, love, make ups,and betrayal. I loved every minute of it! Few small errors.
