He offered them escape. He never expected to find a family.
Former trauma nurse Kara Macintosh is a survivor. When she and her non-verbal son Rory are abducted by aliens, she fights with everything she has to keep them together, only to have the pair of them sold to the owner of a brutal asteroid mine. Although her medical skills are enough to keep them alive, it’s a constant battle for survival—until a huge scarred Cire warrior comes to their rescue.
Captain Thraxar doesn’t get involved. Since the future of his race was destroyed by the Red Death, he survives by keeping his distance—from danger, from others, and especially from feelings. Despite his rules, he can’t resist coming to the aid of a beautiful, defiant female and her silent child. He promises to take them to safety, even though safety is hard to find in this part of the galaxy.
Experience has taught Kara to be wary of anyone who seems too good to be true, but Thraxar’s gruff kindness and his patience with Rory quickly start to win her over. Her suspicion turns first to trust, and then to an unexpected passion. When they add a feral alien child to their odd little group, she realizes that more than desire binds them together—they are creating the family she has always wanted.
But danger still hunts them, and claiming their future means confronting the scars of the past. When danger returns, will love be enough to hold them together?
Each book in the Treasured by the Alien series can be read as a standalone romance. This sweet and steamy HEA is intended for adults only.
As of now, this is the end of the series. We follow Kara and Thraxor, a trauma nurse working at an alien mine is rescued with her autistic son.
Now let's get into the series as a whole.
These books were surprisingly boring and I also couldn't help comparing them to Ice Planet Barbarians. This series started in 2019 and as of June 2025, is still ongoing. Bex McLynn stopped contributing after book six, A Home For the Alien Warrior.
Despite there being 13 books, they're virtually identical with very little to define them individually. It was so bad that I often forgot character names as soon as I finished reading. Treasured by the Alien are a series of books that follow the same formula. An older woman is taken from Earth and is accompanied by a child, not always their own, and are subsequently saved by a lizard like alien called a Cire and then they fall in love and form a found family unit. Oh, and the woman always ends up pregnant at the end.
Ice Planet Barbarians has an overarching plot that focuses on different couples. Characters meet and you know what they're about even before they get their own story. But this series isn't like that. There's no overarching plot, the characters don't know each other, and any conflicts have to be resolved in just a few pages. The fact that these books are completely standalone, all follow the same dynamic, the same formula and clock in at around 200 pages each makes this a very fast but boring read with most of the characters being forgettable with barely any defining characteristics.
The series does have some interesting character, they're sadly relegated to background characters, some of them for the simple fact it isn't a human woman and a Cire warrior. I'd love to know more about Alicia and Rafalo (Kissat) or Kwaret, Kareena and Kanda (Vedekian) But the most we can get are cameos in other books to show that they're still doing okay, which is a shame since they're largely more interesting than the main characters. I can at least remember their names, a feat not many of these characters can claim.
Also the grammar is especially bad here. Often there's no indication of who is talking and nothing to indicate a change of POV. And one instance of the author misnaming her character, Anna instead of Abby (But I still had to check my notes.) I want to be clear that I'm not over here looking for perfection, but it did make it challenging to read these books.
The Cire are more than a little unbelievable and not because they're aliens. It's the fact that they are perfect. The only time they misunderstand something is for the sake of comedy. They are otherwise perfect at knowing what someone wants or needs. Even when there's a severely autistic child, they will have infinite grace, patience, and understanding. Not even a hint of confusion.
The patrol is kind of shit for letting the Vedekians continue to abduct women and children continuously for over five years. Corruption be damned, the good ones should be monitoring Earth at this point.
The Red Death decimated many species over 20 years and the Cire were especially impacted having all their women killed. This is why the abduction of human women is in such high demand. The Cire are also blunt, violently protective and misunderstand things by taking them literally. It's VERY similar to Ice Planet Barbarians.
A race of blunt, violently protective people, lose most of their women to the Khui sickness and then they can rebuild the population with half breeds thanks to human women. I'd go so far as to say that one series probably inspired the other.
I don't think tails have enough bones to be THAT prehensile.
My favorite book in the series is probably Daughter of the Alien Warrior. Inzen was a background character in Mama and the Alien Warrior and I was glad to see his tale continue in his own book. The conflict was also unique and believable with Inzen adopting an orphaned baby only for the mother to cross the universe to get her back and their shared love for the baby brings them together.
I don't have a least favorite book in this series because they're all just too similar. They all blur together into a largely forgettable whole.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
We're back with the incredibly honorable Cire warriors and Thraxar is an absolute sweetheart. He's unaware that human women can bond with his kind and he's completely resigned himself to being alone. But when he sees Kara and her son in a bad situation, he doesn't hesitate to step in and offer to help them.
Which is EXACTLY what I expect from these big guys.
Kara is stretched thin with everything that's happened to her. Trying to keep her son safe in a situation determined to break them past the point of no return is wearing on her and she's lost hope that there's anything better out there. Then Thraxar offers them a hand when she needs it most and suddenly there are possibilities. Not only for her and Rory, but maybe for her and Thraxar.
Then they stumble across an alien child being held in a cage and suddenly their trio is a foursome. Because NONE of them can walk away from this obviously terrified child without doing something to help her.
Found family, endless amounts of patience and understanding, a safe haven on a quiet planet, more than a little danger, a warrior with a heart of gold, and a lady who holds onto the things that matter with everything she has. *thumbs up*
“Sometimes the family you find is the one you needed all along.”
A beautiful, immensely touching tale about creation of a family forged by necessity but cemented with love. A tale of living through loss and loneliness, not to mention the guilt for things beyond one’s control. Things aren’t looking up for human Kara and her neurodivergent son Rory after they were abducted by Vedeckians, who sold them to the owner of a mining colony on Jellix V. Barely surviving, things are indeed bleak when they are suddenly saved by Thraxar, a Cire trader. He offers to take them aboard his ship Sarex to a Patrol station who will take them back to Earth.
But Thraxar is lost in his own way as well after losing his family years ago to the Red Death Plague. He has remained alone since. How could I not lose my heart as well - the way he was with Rory was so touching-offering acceptance, patience and kindness in abundance. And then they found Talia, who was also lost and alone and danger yet hope abounds. This story is satisfying on so many levels - full of action, steam and family. My heart felt so full - a truly magical experience ❤️.
I voluntarily reviewed a free Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
I really liked Legacy. The characters are interesting, believable, and loveable. A few bad things happen, but the story is mostly happy and heartwarming with a trademark Phillips's happy ending.
Although ‘Legacy for the alien warrior’ is the 13th story in the ‘Treasured by the alien’ series, this story can be read as a standalone. I’m a bit behind with this series and I had no problem following the story.
I really loved this story. It was sweet, emotional and filled with hope. The story was told in both POV’s. There were a few sex scenes in the story.
The main characters were alien (Cire) Thraxar and human Kara. Karen and her son Rory were abducted from Earth by aliens. Thanks to her experience as a trauma nurse, Kara was able to convince her new owner to let her work as a nurse for the miners. But even then, the situation was dangerous for her and her son. But then one day, to her surprise, an unknown alien comes to her and her son’s aid and help them escape. Thraxar was a trader and loner. He lost his parents and brother when he was a young man. Guilt made him a soldier and later a trader. Living a solitaire life on his ship. He did this for many years but when he sees a human woman and her son in trouble, he intervenes. Not knowing that his life will change forever. During their journey to safety, they rescue the alien child Talia. With each passing day, the bond between these four different people grows stronger and they become more and more like a family, but danger follows Talia. Can Thraxar protect his new family? And will Kara return to Earth with her son or will she choose a new life with Thraxar and Talia?
Each character had their own charm and qualities and was special in their own way. Thraxar was a wonderful man, he was very protective of Kara and the children. He was a warrior, but he was patient and gentle with Rory (he was neurodivergent), Thraxar accepted Rory for who he was, just like Kara, Thraxar communicated with Rory in his special way. Thraxar took the time to get to know Rory, something that most people didn’t do. Thraxar was also amazing with Talia, he made her feel safe and secure. He was a great father, protective, generous, gentle and patient and he was also a great partner for Kara. He respected her opinion, gave her the freedom to make her own decisions and encouraged her in her work.
Kara was a wonderful character too, she was strong and used her intelligent and talents to protect herself and her son safe. She was determined and brave. She loved her son very much. You could feel her love for Talia from the moment she met her. She cared deeply for the little alien girl. She was a good mother to both children.
Rory was unique and amazing in his own way. Talia was such a sweet and cute child. She was the opposite of Rory in many ways, he was silent, she was talkative, he needed routine, she was very curious about everything. And although they were very different from each other, the bond between them was very deep and they cared for each other. It was so sweet to see them interacting with each other.
It was heart-warming to see this small group of strangers become a family. Each of them had experienced emotional and/or physical pain, they were alone in a dangerous world but together they found love and a new home. I loved how the story developed, with small steps, a small hand holding a big one, a caress, a hug, trust and understanding.

Legacy for the Alien Warrior de Honey Phillips Serie Treasured by the Alien libro 13
Argumento:
'To his shock, the tip of his tail had circled her wrist. The action had seemed so natural he hadn’t even noticed, but when he mumbled a hasty apology and released her, he immediately felt the loss. As if in response, the child reached out and touched his tail again, a quick, gentle caress, before taking his mother’s hand. A strange warmth filled him.'
I love the Treasured by the Alien series! The Cire warriors always melt my heart and I'm always excited for more of them. Great world building and wonderful characters. I was captivated with the story from the very start learning Kara and her young son Rory's predicament. I really liked that Rory was both non-verbal and had sensory issues. He was sweet, and I liked that Thraxar's first interaction with him was respectful, kind, and understanding. He spoke to Rory as if his input had value rather than talking down to him as others did, even kneeling so that he could speak to him face-to-face. I think I fell in love with him from that first interaction. He was honorable and protective, and always allowed Kara to decide for herself rather than ever try to convince (coerce?) her.
“Why are you doing this?” she asked. His eyes darkened. “Because no female— or child— should ever be treated like that. And no one else here would intervene... I promise you will be safe”
I liked the way their relationship developed. And I loved his interactions with Rory and how quickly the little boy was both comfortable with him and trusted him. This story was a sweet adventure and I can't wait for more Cire romances. 5 stars.
This is hands down one of my favorite series ! It puts a smile on my face and in my heart each time I read one of these Treasured by the Alien books. In this one Thraxar is a lone Cire warrior who !most his entire family to the plague that ran through this galaxy. From that moment on he was only surviving not truly living. Believing it was better to never love again than go through the pain of ever losing someone again . Until he met Kara who changes his whole world. Kara and her autistic son Rory were abducted by aliens. She was given to a .mining colony where she used her nursing skills to s ave miners and get them back to work faster. She doesn't know how much longer she can keep her son and herself alive. Until she is struck by A guard tormenting her son and s large green hand reasons out to save them. A!though nervous to trust a stranger she does and Thraxar up gets her to safety. Along the way they find another child to add to their growing family . Both Thraxar and Kara find unexpected kindness and acceptance. Love blooms and a new sense of purpose and belonging fill both their hearts! The world building is excellent and the characters have fantastic chemistry!💯highly recommend! One of those best!🌟✨🎈🎇✨🎈🎇✨🎈✨🎇🎈🎇🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖
A really lovely interstellar romance between human Kara and reptilian-humanoid alien Thraxar that examines the meaning of what constitutes a family, and whether one’s past should dictate one’s future.
Honey Phillips writes the most decent, fierce, and lovely alpha males who rise to whatever occasion is required to endure the safety and wellbeing of their mates. In this particular case, Kara has a young son who’s rather intelligent but non verbal, and Thraxar seems to be one of the few beings who don’t regard the boy as a defective, but rather meets him where he is and quickly learns his cues. Without spoiling a significant part of the plot, I will say that his admirable ability to accept and adapt to situations make him a fabulous surrogate parent and certainly accounts for Kara’s willingness to allow him to help her and her son escape a dodgy situation on the planet upon which she was taken to and forced to work after being abducted from her home.
Their romance is sweet with lots of heat, and it’s a beautiful story of love and hope in the midst of seemingly hopeless circumstances.
I was fortunate to have received an advance reader copy from the author and booksprout, and I’m sharing my honest impressions.
This is another great installment in the Treasured by the Alien series. While some of the books are interconnected and may be best read in order, this one works well as a standalone.
After being taken from Earth, human FMC Kara is doing her best to provide for and protect her non-verbal son, Rory, while being forced to use her skills as a nurse on the mining colony where she’s been enslaved, until Thraxar, an ex-mercenary alien MMC, rescues her and Rory.
The story spans across space as the traumatized humans and the loner alien travel together and face new adventures along the way.
This is a sweet story of found family, with touching moments and a slow-burn romance between the main characters. As a parent of a non-verbal child, I was initially hesitant about this storyline, but Phillips, as usual, did a great job of creating complex characters without relying on stereotypes. I found Rory and Kara to be realistic and relatable, and Thraxar was the kind and compassionate warrior hero I’ve come to expect from this series.
Another sweet, spicy, and heartfelt sci-fi romance in Treasured by the Alien. I can’t wait for the next one!

***I received an ARC and am voluntarily providing my honest review.
I'm in love! Thraxar stole my heart away! It's perfect that this book has released on Father's Day because Thraxar is the best dad. Kara is the most awesome mom too. Kara and her son Rory were abducted and sold to a mine owner. Rory is Neurodivergent, a thing the people at the mine aren't tolerant of, especially the head guard. Thraxar arrives just as he is abusing Kara and heading toward Rory. Thraxar rescues them, refusing to leave them to be abused. The honor and compassion of the Cire Warriors are the reason Treasured is my favorite Syfy romance series...ok that and those naughty tails 😉. When they stop to make some repairs to the ship they find and rescue Talia, a precious beautiful orphaned alien little girl. The family Thraxar never thought he deserved is complete...as long as he can't fight off the beings who are out to destroy it! This book is filled with action, romance and beauty. As the grandma of a neurodivergent child can't tell you how much I appreciated the gentle tenderness Honey treated Rory with. He didn't all of the sudden get better, the loving people around him met him where he was with love and acceptance. I loved this book so much.
Kara Macintosh and her neurodivergent non-verbal son Rory are abducted by aliens and then sold to the overseer of an asteroid mine. Her nursing skills save her from an unsavoury fate as a sex worker but when one of the guards assaults her and attempts to assault her son, a Cire warrior comes to their rescue.
Captain Thraxar has lived a solitary life ever since his family and the future of his race was destroyed by the Red Death, but when he rescues Kara and Rory and promises to take then to a Patrol station, he finds unexpected feelings arising and a reluctance to say goodbye.
Thraxar shows great kindness and understanding towards Rory and holds back initially from taking things further with Kara. When she initiates a sexual relationship, he is surprised that she is compatible with being his mate. A rescue of a Lumiri child adds to their family and Thraxar finds he can have a legacy after all. Although this is the 13th book of a series, it can be read as a standalone. There is steam but it takes a back seat to the story showing how great a father Thraxar can be when he thought that having a family would never happen for him.
"In a world of chaos, predictability was sanctuary."
Thraxar set down on a mining colony to make some repairs to his ship, and maybe sell a little cargo, what he came away with is more than he could have bargained for.
Kara was abducted from Earth with her young son Rory, and nothing has gone well since... but sometimes you have to take a leap of faith, and trust a stranger when they offer a helping hand.
Legacy for the Alien Warrior brings together two good people who are used to making it on their own. Both are perfectly happy to stand up for others, they just aren't accustomed to others having their back, and it is as they stand up for each other that they discover how much richer, and fuller their lives could be, if they took a chance.
The two kids that have a fair amount of time in this book, Rory and Talia are delightful in different ways, with their friendship being one of the truly beautiful aspects of this story about accepting people as they are, trauma and baggage included.
These Cire Warriors carved a space in my heart with the very first one and they just keep getting better. As the parent of a neurodivergent child it still feels like a gift when an author doesn't try to "fix" them or they are suddenly cured during the story, they are simply as they are. I say this because the human child in this book, Rory, is non-verbal. Something which is not exactly tolerated in the mine where he is and so his mum, Kara is desperately trying to protect him. She is being abused by a guard but finds an unexpected ally in the Cire Thraxar who will not stand to see that kind of thing happen. He is something of an outcast, but is of his own choosing. His family traded in the stars and rarely returned planet-side so it was even more of a blow when they caught the Red Death. This left Thraxar on his own. Finding another child, this time an orphaned alien girl, he seems to have unknowingly built a family of his own. I absolutely adored this.
Abducted and sold by aliens, Kara was able to keep her son Rory and herself alive, barely. Six months of inadequate food, clothing and fear that didn't allow her to sleep fully, have not helped. Thraxar has to make an unscheduled stop on the mining asteroid and prevents a bully from further hurting them. He sneaks them aboard his ship, hides them and they leave. He still needs parts to repair the ship and they find little Thalia when they land on another planet. Our author is an amazing storyteller and her richly described characters and scenes allow you to feel like you are right there in the story. Add in discovery, danger, plot twists and steam and you have another wonderful tale. I loved reading about Thraxar's interactions with Rory and how Rory communicates with the world. I really felt the hope and the power of found family so strongly as I read. " Sometimes the family you find is the one you needed all along.".
I LOVE THIS SERIES! With each one I’m afraid Honey will stop.
This one’s a little different from the previous ones. Thraxar’s family lived on a ship as traders didn’t go home to Ciresia often? However, they were there when RED DEATH hit! So he had very little interaction with his people before or after he lost his family. He settled into being alone and ti be a loner until he joined his family in the afterlife.
Kara’s life had also been very emotionally difficult, though no as tough as his. She and her son Rory’s latest problem was a guard intent on making their life even harder. These three meet when Thraxar intervenes. He helps her and her son escape and soon they fill the voids in each other’s lives that lead to their happy for now. I can’t wait to the next one.
Oh, we're returning to my favorite aliens with tails, the Cire warriors! I thoroughly enjoyed this book from start to finish. Kara and her young son were abducted by the Vedekians and held at an asteroid mining camp. Kara has been trying to survive by using her nursing skills to care for sick and injured miners. Thraxar stopped there to make a trade when he rescued Kara and her son from a violent guard. This plot is so good! It’s about found family and new opportunities that could never have arisen if Thraxar hadn't stopped on that particular asteroid. I love the Cire, their core beliefs, and their deep understanding of the importance of family. Fantastic book with the BEST happy ending! (Yes, there is steam!).

"Sometimes the family you find is the one you needed all along." This quote from Legacy for the Alien Warrior really sums up the found family aspect of this beautiful book. Kara is a courageous mama bear who is doing an amazing job raising her neurodivergent son Rory in a horrible alien mining camp where she was sold by alien kidnappers. Enter Thraxar, a Cire warrior who finds Kara & Rory under attack by a sadistic guard. Of course, Thraxar comes to the rescue. Things get so much better & then they rescue Talia & things get so good & then tricky & scary. Sometimes, you have to fight for the family you have created. Thankfully, Thraxar is an honorable male. This story is beautiful. I loved it.
Thank you, @HoneyPhillips, for another amazing book. Never stop writing.
I ALWAYS enjoy stories from this tremendously Awesome world !!!! In this book , Kara and her young son Rory have been abducted and are on a distant mining station. She has found work as a nursing assistant of sorts. Goodness knows that her owner is way too cheap to get decent health care for his workers !! 🙄🙄
Thraxar is a noble Cire who has found himself at this station . He can't stand the guards mistreatment of the vulnerable , and so when he sees something , he has got to say something !!! He offers Kara and her son help. And that's the start of an incredible story !!! Kara and her son are a special case , and Thraxar is has something on his ship he never thought he would ever have. Family !!!! These 3 are very sweet , and I found myself smiling , because these books are amazing !!! I LOVE it here !!!! Can't wait for the next !!!
I love all of the Cire warriors and their passion for their mates. But, the representation of a child with neurodivergence and the level of love he is show by his mother and others around him makes my Speech Therapist heart happy. I love when people who perceive and experience the world differently than what is seen as typical are allowed to be themselves. To express themselves in ways that work for them and to have the ways that they show love and affection to be acknowledged and respected. To have true relationship with others is something that not everyone who is neurodivergent is able to experience. Seeing it illustrated here and hand-in-hand with the love and passion that is always present in a Honey Phillips books reinforces that she is and will always be one of my favorite authors. ❤️❤️❤️
This is a Touching sci-fi romance and another wonderful story from Honey Phillips. I received a free copy and am voluntarily sharing my honest thoughts.
Thraxar, a gentle alien warrior, embraces Kara and her non-verbal son. Their bond grows in adversity, filled with compassion, healing, and fierce protectiveness. Thraxar’s empathy and strength shine, making him the father-figure Kara never expected. Heartfelt, steamy, and uplifting—a perfect blend of alien love and found family.
A wonderful example of a strong father and it’s extra poignant that I’m posting this review on the night before Father’s Day in the U.S. I highly recommend it!
Legacy for the alien warrior is an emotional read. Page after page you're lured in. So grab onto that tail and enjoy 💜🔥
This story breaks all the rules. A cire warrior, who despite his better judgement realizes that maybe all hope isn't lost. His compassion to protect shines, when he stumbles upon a human female and her son. His capacity to see beyond the norm and understand the non verbal cues of a child is without a doubt a monumental quality to find in a partner. The bond that forms creates the foundation of a beautiful family. The ending is the icing on the cake. Perfection Honey!
This read checks all the boxes. ✔️✔️✔️✔️.

So I have read several books in this series and they are all amazing. These Cire males never take for granted finding a mate and having a family. I love them every time. But this book will certainly be a favorite amongst the series. Rory, the little boy, stole my heart and seeing how Thraxar found ways to connect with him melted my heart. I loved the neurodivergent rep in this book it was so phenomenal and spot on. Kara has such inner strength and I loved how she took the chance to open her heart. Such an amazing story and I loved it so much!!!
I did receive an ARC and this is my honest opinion.
Thraxar is minding his own business going about his trade route when he comes across a female and her young son in a bad situation. He offers them a way off planet and things settle from there. lol just kidding. Things get very interesting when Kara and her young son Rory. Thraxar understands her son in ways others don’t. They build a strong bond as they travel. Which makes both start to think that they could make a family together. With the addition of young orphan Talia added into the mix their small family just makes sense to keep her. The only thing they need to do is find a home that suits their families needs for a permanent home.
Honey Phillips’ Legacy for the alien Warrior is a wonderful story. After being kidnapped from earth and sold, Cara lives on a mining planet, where she serves as a nurse at the pleasure of her owner who dislikes her autistic son, Rory. Thrax are saves the two from a deviant guard and whisks them away to take them to those who could help them, but he and Rory click, though the boy rarely interacts with others. Then he and Cara discovered their attraction. They save an alien child from being trafficked, and their newly formed. Family is complete until a bounty hunter comes after the orphaned girl. Lots of action and a beautiful family is created.
These books are always so sweet! And there's also a lot of satisfaction in seeing a neurodiverse character meet someone from another planet who is able to see the obvious - "oh, they just process things differently and might have a different perspective."
I will say, the kids in all these books are always super-well behaved, so while it's not realistic (you know, besides being sci-fi), it's still really heart-warming.
Each character has been hurt in some way, and they each provide a balm to the others to help each other heal.

I've read every book in this series and have loved every one of them. Kara and Thraxar are perfect for one another. They were each able to fill a need in their lives like loneliness, trusting and how they saw one another’s feelings deep down in their souls.
I loved how Honey Phillips wrote her characters to the fullest they can be. Even Kara’s son who is autistic and how he was more accepted by aliens than humans.
I loved the line from Thraxar, ““That I had everything I never knew I wanted,” he answered truthfully. “And now I have even more.”
Read this book and the series, even though they can be read out of order.
Kara and her son are kidnapped from Earth and end up in an alien mine. There she uses her nursing skills to tend to the sick and injured. When a guard threatens her son Captain Thraxar, a trader, stops him and takes Kara and her son intending to bring them to a safe place. Along the way Thraxar finds that he has feelings for Kara and her son. But with his past he doesn't think that he deserves a family. Time for fate to prove him wrong. Sweet alien love story.
