Played is a romantic suspense novel by Author Lilliana Anderson.
From beginning until the end, this read was intense, action-packed, fast-paced, biting my nails reading. I loved it!! There is nothing like being catapulted into a story that makes your head spin and your mind intrigued. Page after page, I was a starved woman and these words fed my hunger. I had to know what made the plot come together and made these characters tick. This feeling never stopped. The character interactions were phenomenal. Snark, sarcasm, and cunning gestures were constantly whirled into the air giving character details, exposing personality traits, and making magnetic connections that played into the dual storyline.
If you love a story with action and suspense, Played is a must-read you should check out.
“I think we're all going to get along like a house on fire."
I really enjoyed this book although I am wondering where the romance was in it. The plot is fast paced, exciting, well written and full of suspense /intrigue.
The two main characters are NOT a couple but instead are in love with someone already. If you've read book 1 you will know Aiden's background story but you can read this without having read that book. However I didn't care too much for Chloe, I think this would have been different if l had read the previous book.
I liked how Aiden struggled with his feelings for Chloe and that he remained angry at her. This felt more genuine and realistic.
I found the mix of first person chapters for Aiden and Caitlin easy to read and very enjoyable. I did struggle when the book swapped to third person POV for other characters. This is partly what lost an otherwise good book a star. For me the book didn't focus enough on either 'romantic relationship' enough so these felt under developed.
The plot idea was excellent and the story is really easy to read. However there is just so much going off that this needs to be a much longer, more detailed book as it all felt a little rushed and under developed.
That aside I still enjoyed it and read it in a day.
If you haven't read Partners, stop now and go read it and then continue with this book.
From the beginning this book is intense, fast paced, and will keep you wanting more in the end.
In Partners I didn't know how I felt about Chloe but by the end of this book...I'm liking her more and more. Aidan still is Mr. Alpha male and is us out for revenge, and all I can say is he will make you forget what your thinking.
Just when I thought I had this book figured out...nope totally went the other way. I have to say that this was a great conclusion to their story but would have love to see what happen a little in the future, maybe we will get a glimpse into it in the next book in the series.
Played picks up where Partners left off. Aiden wakes up in the hospital handcuffed to the bed with Drake and Caitlin in his room waiting to talk to him. Aiden is hurt and furious with what Chloe has done, he will get his revenge.
They say there’s a thin line between love and hate, and I’d say a bullet pushes a man to cross it.
Drake and Caitlin are working the robbery case and are determined to solve the case. They offer a deal to Aiden that he can’t refuse. He want’s out of the cuffs so this is his only option at the moment. Of course he pushes their buttons to the max. He takes off and finds Chloe and they have a quite the discussion. Definitely not how he had planned it.
We also get a glimpse into Drake and Caitlin’s relationship as partners. There seems to be more between them and Aiden quickly picks up on it and uses that to his advantage as well.
Things are going to get way more complicated. In his eyes, it’s only a matter of time before they lose control.
Things get even more complicated and intense as the story moves forward. Aiden continues to have love/hate thoughts about Chloe. There are more twists and secrets revealed. I really enjoyed all of the secondary characters, they added a great element to the story. I had some LOL moments with Aiden and the things he would pull on Drake and Caitlin. The ending was great, definitely not what I expected at all. I was pleasantly surprised. Make sure you read book one, Partners before Played. I was lucky enough to have both books in hand so I didn’t have to wait to see what happened in Played. Thank you Lilliana Anderson for a great read. I will definitely be reading more from this author.

Played (Fire & Lies 2) was a fast paced, suspense filled read that had me eagerly turning the pages. Picking straight up from where we were left with that "heart in my mouth"cliffhanger. I strongly recommend reading this series in order to experience the intense filled journey!
A story about lust, money and revenge. I don't want to give to much away as I feel you need to read "blind" without the chance of reading any spoilers but fasten your seat belts, it's gonna be a bumpy ride...
The plot was flawlessly written. It was full of mystery mixed with romance creating a page turner of a read and just when I thought I had it all figured out BAM there would be a twist I didn't see coming with more secrets revealed. Zero predictability!
The characters, both main and secondary were full of personality, mixed with sass and laugh out loud banter and admittedly I liked them all yes even Chloe. Aiden was still full on alpha mode which I just loved.
A really enjoyable series from start to finish which I highly recommend to readers who enjoy a good romantic suspense read.

Played picked up where the last book in the fire and lies series finished off and answered many of the questions I had previously had in the first book. Played like the first story I the series was a suspenseful read that captures your attention from the start. New characters are introduced in this story that I enjoyed reading about.
Caitlin is the female character in this story that readers are introduced to. She is a feisty character that I enjoyed reading about.
Aiden was once again an alpha male that had me laughing a few times throughout the book. He was a sexy and hot character that I enjoyed reading about in both books in the series.
Played picks up where partners finished off and sees Aiden looking for revenge for being betrayed by the woman he loves.
Overall, I think this is a definite must read for everyone who loves a good romantic suspense story. Lilliana Anderson knows how to flawlessly write a story that keeps you captivated throughout the story.

Played was a suspenseful read that kept me at the edge of my seat !! Book two in the Fire and Lies Series we pick where we were left dangling in Partners. I highly recommend reading this series in order to be able to keep up with the character development and plot.
Drake and Caitlin are diligently working on their case while Aiden is out for revenge on Chloe.
The way this talented wrote this novel has the reader getting sucked in more and more with every turn of the page. It's complex, intense, sexy and mysterious. As circumstances get more complicated, insight given and facts brought to light, you will be biting your nails in anticipation of the outcome.
Lilliana Anderson did a fantastic job with the push and pull, mystery and passion of this read and I highly recommend the Fire and Lies Series to all.

This was the final piece I needed to end this story! Chloe Donovan had no choice, even though her intentions were good she needed to keep Aiden safe but really she hurt Aiden, like in the chest, shot with a gun by her, after the bank robbery!! Apart from Federal agents staking Aiden out, he manages to outsmart them and visit Chloe once he found her hideout. Aiden and Chloe together in the room is like hell, its hot, they are bothered and Aiden wants to kill her but their tension and feelings get in the way, Aiden has questions and he wants answers!! Chloe is still determined to bring down Michael Goldsmith for ruining her family and destroying her father but what Chloe doesn't realise is that a Federal agent named Drake Jefferson and his hacker, Caitlin, are wanting to do the same; it all gets a bit tricky! This was a great action/romance story!
I’m just letting all the details of the ending sink in... that was a crapload of secrets upon secrets. I loved the person Aiden was and how he handled everything thrown at him after the love of his life shoots him in the chest. Chloe on the other hand, I wanted to strangle every time she refused to be honest with Aiden and hah, Aiden did exactly that! I’m glad the plot got resolved in the end, the addition of Caitlin and Drake was good side banter for the ride. I still have unanswered questions and there were few inconsistencies, namely why Caitlin’s surname switches from Saunders to Samuels and one moment she’s ‘Agent’ and the next their nailing it down that she’s not an agent.
I would read a follow up story on their life after.

Starting right where Partners left off we get to embark in the journey of what is more suspense and chemistry! This read was quite the page turner from the go and I loved every second of it!
From page one, I devoured this book! Chloe, Aiden, Trixi and Drake pullllllled me in from the very get go. Lies, Slander, Gunshots, Robberies.... Everything you could possible imagine was in this book, and as always I am in love with Lilliana Anderson!!
If you're looking for a book with an amazing storyline, a great love/hate chemistry and some sleuthing, this is definitely the book for you. You'll love Aiden, You'll hate Chloe. You'll Love Chloe and you'll hate Aiden. Trixi is the best 1/2 secondary, half main heroine ever, and Drake... well he's a dick, but he has poptarts! Pick up this book. It's STELLAR!

This is book 2 in the Fires and Lies Series by Ms Anderson and you DEFINITELY MUST READ book 1 PARTNERS, prior to reading this one. PLAYED picks up from where PARTNERS finished, soI wouldn't class it as a standalone.
PLAYED is once again full of suspense and thrills and will instantly have your attention from the very first page.
Aiden is out to extract revenge on Chloe for what she has done to him. He is most definitely not a very happy man. It's sad to see that he still has love towards her - but soon his eyes will be opened further to her betrayal.
Caitlyn is the new heroine in this story and it is very interesting to witness how she works and repsonds to her partner, Drake. There is definitely more going on between those two than what the reader sees.
As usual, Ms Anderson hs thrown in a few unexpected twists and turns just to keep her readers on their toes and guessing as to what she will come up with next. Aiden provides a few funny moments with his antics, ensuring that the reader does have a chance to have a little bit of a giggle. An unexpected ending was just a perfect way to finish off this one.
Definitely read PARTNER prior to PLAYED to get the full experience of this story. Once again I have been wowed by Lilliana. Can't wait to see what she comes up with next.

Reading this amazing book is like watching thrilling detective movie as the mystery is revealed. The buzz from the action, the chase, and the mind-boggling trick was sooo exciting! This has been one captivating series, and I can't wait to read more of the characters.
The start of this book includes some flashback scenes which were unnecessary for me because I'd read just book 1 (Partners) but for those that read partners when it first came out I'm sure the memories helped jog their own memories of the story.
The story of what happens to Aiden and Chloe after their big heist was maybe even more fun than the first. The addition of Caitlan, a hacker working for the Federal Police and her Federal Agent partner Drake was great. I loved getting Caitlan's story along side the our existing couple.
There is of heat and action and this is a fun ride. I'm definitely going to read more of Ms Anderson's work.

Wow...I was sucked right back into Chloe and Aiden's story. With lies, deceit and drama at every turn...I didn't know who to trust. I couldnt put this book down.
"They say there's a thin line between love and hate and I'd say a bullet pushes a man to cross it."
Picking up where #1 ended, sees Aiden coming to handcuffed to a hospital bed. He is furious that once again Chloe has turned his life upside down then walked away...and he let her!!! Now he has a choice to make but will it cost him his freedom?
Chloe had no choice to walk away from the man who owns her heart completely but she knows that this time she may never get a chance of redemption. With everything stacked against her, she tries to play the game but will this be her biggest downfall?
With Drake and Caitlin working the robbery case and them having Aiden under lock and key makes things a little difficult for him.
Drake and Caitlin are a great set of secondary characters, they have a fantastic connection that was fun to read. They became a part of the story as much as Chloe and Aiden.
The one thing that I felt throughout this book was anticipation, Lilliana Anderson exceeded all expectations with this book and I cant wait for what comes next!!!
Well, this was a little beauty! Rammed with so much action and angst that it was difficult to find a suitable pause with which to take a step back from the intensity and just absorb everything. Chloe and Aiden will keep you hooked and you will willingly participate, they were superb characters in a nail-biting situation. Aiden is determined to find the answers that he needs and that means that Chloe is back in his line of sight and he isn’t willing to hold back, after all once bitten twice shy, she has ticked him off in more ways than one and this time, the bullet that he took was the final straw…or is it! With an ending that was a bolt from the blue, this is a story that blew me away!!!
How many times could you get Played and have your heart broken by the one women who you can't seem to stay away from? Well twice wasn't enough for Aiden. A broken heart, a bullet to the heart and there is still so much intense passion between Aiden and Chloe. He wants answers and he is going to stop at nothing to get them. This book picks up right where it left off in Partners. Aiden's heart is not going to stop him from finding Chloe his way. He is not even going to stop the Feds, he will play them along to handle this his way. We not only get our answers we were looking for in Partners, but we get bonus characters and see a story between Drake and Caitlin. Ironically, who are Partners on the Fed team and get Played quite a few times. The story continues to be suspenseful, continues the pity bang (those are HOT!) and takes us on turns we do not expect. I will say never did I see that ending coming with Leah. Nice outcome! This is one series that I highly recommend if you love to read a book that hooks you from beginning to end and love the suspenseful romance reads.
First off make sure you read Partners before you even think about picking up Played, it will make so much more sense that way. I was about two chapters into Played before I realized that there was another book before it and I had to go back and read the first one. Anyways, Played picks up where Partners left off. Aiden is handcuffed to the hospital bed when he wakes up, wounds to his chest and questions being asked. When given an offer to get him out of the cuffs he could not refuse. This has him on the other side where he is to be giving information about the case. He wants to get revenge on Chloe, however things did not work out the way he had planned. The story was back and forth hate and still love for Chloe. Very fast paced, action packed story that held me to the last word. I love the way that it ended.
Played (Fire & Lies #2) by Lilliana Anderson was action packed and filled with suspense. This book was a good continuation from the first book for it picks up right after the first one. In Played we get to follow Chloe and Aiden as they continue their quest to get answers that Aiden is seeking out. Chloe was a great character as well as Aiden they were both very strong characters. The plot in Played was a nail biter for it kept you glued to the pages. The author did not disappoint with this story. I enjoyed reading Played and loved the characters of Chloe and Aiden.
