🏆 A hilarious, slow-burn enemies-to-lovers romance from award-winning author Hunter Snow.

🎸 She’s a rock star.
🤠 He’s a country crooner.
🔥 Enemies-to-lovers? Absolutely.
🚌 Forced proximity on tour? You bet.
💥 Chemistry? Off the charts.

Two worlds. One accidental hit song. The stage is set for the ultimate showdown.Jamie Keaton is a rock star with a reputation as fiery as her songs. Clayton Langley is a country singer who epitomizes Southern charm.

Their paths were never supposed to cross—let alone collide—but when a chance encounter forces them to collaborate on a song, she’s suddenly thrust into his universe of cowboy boots and steel-string guitars.

As old resentments and undeniable chemistry simmer beneath the surface, Jamie must decide whether to embrace the unfamiliar world she’s been dragged into—or to stoke the fire of their rivalry and watch everything burn.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐“Meet Jamie a whiskey-voiced rock singer with baggage heavy enough to ground a tour bus. Then there’s Clayton Langley, the golden boy of country music who seems more rhinestone than grit—until you peel back the layers. These are not your typical romance leads. They’re messy, wounded, and refreshingly adult. Their banter isn’t just flirtation—it’s verbal fencing with emotional scars as sabers." —The Bookish Magazine

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐" OBSESSED. Country star Clayton is all charm and wholesome sexiness, and he has the world eating out of his hand. It annoys rock star tough girl Jamie to no end, and boy does he get under her skin. When they accidentally collaborate on a song and it goes viral, a whole new world opens up for both, and they’re thrown together for PR, performances, and all the fun.” —Decanting Books

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐“Hunter Snow’s GONE COUNTRY is a witty, heartfelt romance that blends sharp banter, authentic musical detail, and slow-burn connection into a story that hits just the right emotional notes.” —Indie Reader

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐“While there are some serious things going on in this story including the romance, it is also funny in so many ways. For a fan of music (yes, even that twangy country stuff) as well being a person who likes to laugh and be a bit of a smart … well, you know … this book was one of the most fun and enjoyable reads I’ve devoured in a while. I’m glad I decided to give it a try.” —Big Al’s Books and Pals

I barely survived my career in the music industry—now I write about it. These days, I live in the Pacific Northwest, spinning contemporary romances inspired by everything I swore I’d never talk about again. Any resemblance to real people, places, or events? Total coincidence. Obviously.

🩵 | thank you NetGalley for this arc in exchange for a review:) I'm going in blindddd. no other reviews but it sounds and looks so cute?? how could I not???

Alexa, play “Gone Country” by Alan Jackson 🙂‍↕️

First reviewwww!! I absolutely loved this book! As someone who’s been sticking to the fantasy genre, this was such a refreshing change of pace and I was hooked from the very first page. The writing is fast-paced, easy to sink into, and kept me invested the wholeeee way through. (Also it was lowkey giving Ella Langley and Riley Green if Riley Green actually liked Ella🤣)

Clayton (mmc), is such a sweetheart, and Jamie (fmc) is a spitfire. Together, their chemistry is everything you could want in a slow-burn romance. I also ADORED the side romance between Clayton’s brother and Jamie’s assistant?? Hunter is spoiling us with the romanceee💘

Honorable mention to all country and pop culture references sprinkled throughout. It gave the story such a fun, down-to-earth vibe.

This was such a cute and heartwarming read, perfect for anyone who loves romance and country music with lovable characters.

Rating: Loved It

This was such a cute slow-burn, enemies-to-lovers rockstar romance. Jamie hasn’t had an easy road. She’s worked her butt off to get where she is, and she’s definitely the black cat/grumpy half of this pairing.

Clayton, on the other hand, is an ex-pitcher-turned-country star and single dad to two adorable twin girls. Total southern gentleman and golden retriever/sunshine vibes.

After an accidental co-written song goes viral, Jamie suddenly finds herself immersed in the country scene she knows nothing about. Forced onto a tour bus with Clayton, the two spend the entire trip poking at each other, and the banter is chef’s kiss. He teaches her about country music, she schools him on rock ’n’ roll and movies.

The cultural references (as someone who loves both genres) were so much fun, and the prank war between them (on busses named after Reservoir Dogs) had me giggling. The twins kept me smiling and my heart full.

Oh! And that epilogue gave me everything I wanted as an ending for this book!

Why not five stars? Since this is an honest review, the ending felt rushed. After the slow burn, the final act hit like boom, boom, boom. There was so much room to explore Jaime’s childhood trauma and her strained relationship with her dad, then to parallel that with her with the twins and shared experiences. That could have deepened both the emotional impact and their connection.

Also, while it’s dual POV, Jaime’s chapters were long and plentiful, while Clayton’s were short and sparse. I would’ve loved more of his perspective to see how his feelings for Jaime grew over the tour.

That said, I did love this book. It was the perfect palate cleanser after a string of dark romances. The cover is adorable, the story’s fun, and I think anyone picking this up will have a great time.

Thank you, Hunter and Greys Promo for the ARC.

He's a little bit country 🤠, she's a little bit rock 'n' roll 🎸. Okay, actually, Clayton is a lot country and Jamie is all about that rock 'n' roll.

Gone Country by Hunter Snow is an enemy-to-lovers, country-meets-rock, light-hearted romance novel with a reverse grumpy x sunshine trope. Jamie Keaton is a fiery rocker with a complicated past and a controlling ex-boyfriend who is also a famous action movie star. When she unexpectedly collaborates with country music star and her overly friendly rival, Clayton Langley, her whole world gets flipped upside down. A rocker at heart, Jamie finds herself at a crossroads when the country music scene and Clayton try to bring her into their world.

What initially drew me into this novel was the music themed premise. As a fan of music, I love reading books that incorporate music heavily into the storyline and this one certainly does that! It felt like a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into writing a song, recording it, and then promoting it in hopes of hitting the top of the charts. And while my husband is more of the hardcore country music fan, I loved that I was still able to recognize many of the songs and artists mentioned throughout.  In fact, Clayton kind of reminds me of my cheerful, country music loving husband, while Jamie reminds me a bit of myself and my love of rock music - thanks to growing up with a dad who played the likes of The Beatles, The Zombies and Deep Purple on cassette during car rides. I found it pretty funny throughout the novel when Jamie and Clayton would make references to music from their sides of the world and the other would be completely oblivious of who they were talking about. It's something my husband and I do as well 😅.

I enjoyed how Gone Country jumps right into the story and has a good pacing, while still offering some backstory to each character throughout the book. The banter between Jamie and Clayton definitely was fun to read, especially how it evolved as they stopped seeing each other as rivals and it became more flirty. On the surface, these two wouldn't seem to have a connection, but the two really found their footing with each other when they were able to dig deeper and learn more about each other's pasts. Truly an opposites attract type of connection - Clayton being the Southern gentleman, while Jamie was the tough, cynical rocker - there was a sense of balance that worked well with their partnership. If you love a good slow burn romance on top of all the other tropes mentioned, you'll enjoy the progression of Clayton and Jamie's relationship. The spice in this book is pretty minimal. While there is an open door scene, it's quite tame, in my opinion - a 2.5 to a low 3 out of 5 on the spice rating 🌶.

Other notable mentions are the secondary characters, the puppies and the farm and Nashville backdrops. Ruth and Nolan were such a great emotional support to Jamie and Clayton respectively. Plus, their own side story was a nice addition to the story without detracting from the main one. As a dog lover, I loved all the scenes with the puppies, as well as Jamie's rescue, Poppy, and Clayton's yellow lab, Duke 🐕.

Overall, this was a fun and quick read for me. I enjoyed how music-heavy the storyline was, and I could tell the author has a true love for music as well. If you're a fan of country with a sprinkle of rock, you'll definitely appreciate the storyline. I give Gone Country a 4 out of 5 stars ⭐️.

A big thank you to NetGalley, Tellwell Publishing and the author, Hunter Snow, for giving me the opportunity to read the eARC before its release. Gone Country is now available!

Firstly, thank you Hunter & @netgalley for the ARC 👐📚

He’s country, she’s rock and roll. Both music artists.

Forced proximity on tour.

And one accidental collaboration turns into a hit song. 🎶

Loved this one! So much fun 🤩

Perfect for those that like a rockstar/music romance but also a good ol’ cowboy romance. 💕

AND PUPPIES!!!!! 🐶

Slowwwww burn. I loved the way their relationship panned out. They hate each other and ignore what they have between them. When they realise how they feel about each other … sparks truely fly. ✨

This felt very unique!!

Loved the whole thing — beginning to end!!

Definitely recommend — out Aug 12th! 👖👢👠🎸

Quotes //

‘He turned on the radio, adjusting the station until it landed on “Anti-Hero” by Taylor Swift. She’d hardly pegged him as a Swiftie but he knew every word, just like the twins & her.
“I wish I wrote that song. You know, those songs that are just so good you wonder why you didn’t write them”.’

“I can’t change the past, but I damn sure want to be part of your future, I’m not going anywhere”.

Thank you to NetGalley and the author for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Also, shoutout to Trin for the recommendation — it did not disappoint! ❤️

I’m a sucker for enemies-to-lovers tropes, and this book absolutely delivered. I do wish Clayton’s (MMC) chapters were a bit longer — I loved his perspective and wanted more of it. Jamie (FMC) frustrated me in a few parts, but it honestly made her growth feel more authentic in the end. And can we talk about the side romance between Jamie’s assistant, Ruth, and Clayton’s brother, Nolan? So adorable! ☺️

I flew through this book because the plot was so easy to follow and engaging. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for more books from the amazing Hunter Snow!

Firstly, I would like to thank NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC!
Gone Country is a heartfelt romcom with lots of lovable characters and such a fun story! Jamie Keaton & Clayton Langley's enemies to lovers story was so adorable to read!! I loved reading about how their relationship grew and evolved, from hating each other, to writing songs together, and eventually being together! The author did an amazing job incorporating the side characters and subplots in such a natural way and I loved Nolan & Ruth, as well as Emily and Charlotte. I especially adored Jamie's relationship with Emily and Charlotte, it really tugs at your heartstrings!

I haven’t read an enemies to lovers in quite sometime, as it’s not normally something I gravitate to, but “Gone Country” was really cute!

The banter between Jamie and Clayton was great and I’m such a sucker for a single dad character. So much so that Charlotte and Emily were probably my favorite characters in the book. Their relationship with Jamie was just so adorable and I really loved that whole family.

3.5 rounded up.

I love a good story with music in it! I really enjoyed how Jamie grew as a character and her relationship with Clayton and his kids was super cute.

Overall I liked the book but at point the pacing felt weird and I wish Jamie's rock background was explored more.

I absolutely loved this book! It was so well written and completely pulled me in from the first page. I adored Clayton and Jamie’s story — their connection, the chemistry, and the way they understood each other was just perfect.

The characters felt so real, and I genuinely cared about what would happen to them. The pacing was great too — I never felt bored or rushed. This was such a wonderful surprise, and I’m so glad I picked it up. Highly recommend if you love romance that makes you smile, swoon, and stay up late reading!

I'll be honest, the first 10-15% of Gone Country by Hunter Snow didn't really grab me. I just wasn't connecting with the FMC, and I found myself a little indifferent. But then something happened, and suddenly the book clicked for me, and I could not put it down. I ended up reading until 2:47am to finish it, which is waaaaaayyyyy past my bedtime!

As someone who loves country music, enjoys visiting Tennessee, and going to concerts, this book hit all the right notes once it got going. The writing is fast-paced and fun, and by the end, I absolutely loved both the FMC and MMC. Their chemistry was fantastic, the story was cute and heartwarming, and it left me smiling when I turned the last page. If you're a country music fan or just in the mood for a feel-good romance, Gone Country is definitely worth picking up, even if it takes a bit of time to find its rhythm. Thank you to Tellwell Talent and NetGalley for the eARC. All opinions shared are influenced by nothing other than my own reading experience.

I've not read Snow's first book but now have to.
Her writing style flows naturally and I can easily see why her books are popular.

A very cute and easy to read musician romance. I love reading about musicians, especially ones with a country singer/ cowboy MMC!!

Jamie is a rock singer who is unexpectedly pushed towards the world of country music when she accidentally collaborates on a country song with Clayton, a well-loved country star.

I loved the combination of cosy scenes at the ranch and the fun tour van scenes.

Clayton's two daughters were adorable. There was some nice found family.

This book touches on some emotional themes. However, I would have liked to have explored these a bit more, as I feel like some of the deeper topics regarding mental health and abuse were brushed over.

Nevertheless, this was a very cute romance, and I enjoyed it.

This is a meet-cute, rom-com style, slow-burn, enemies to lovers story.
Very little spice.

In this story you are following an up and coming rock singer as she battles with a country singer who also works for her label.

The characters have quite a bit of funny banter throughout the story and strong personalities.

The narrative and dialogue is very fast-paced and includes a lot of musical references. Whether is be a song name, artist name, etc.

A very cute, musically inclined story with a happy ending.

This is rival musicians, Janie, a rock star, and Clayton, a country music star.
A chance encounter at a benefit for a children’s hospital, the sparks fly. These two are forced to join forces and collaborate on a song together.
This is a well written easy to read, emotional roller coaster, with trauma, enemies / lovers, humor, witty banter, resentment, romance, twists and turns, healing, undeniable chemistry, and love, which leads to an entertaining, tragic, and unpredictable page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this author whose work I recommend.

Cute enemies-to-lovers rom-com between established male country star and pop princess a few years after winning a tv singing contest. Liked the characters, including his family and her assistant. Center section dragged a bit for me as they were continually playing pranks on one another. Thankfully, no third act breakup and story played out well. Thanks to netgalley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book was everything I needed to lift my spirits. It dealt with some difficult subjects in a very gentle way which showed a lot of thought and consideration for readers that may struggle with the same issues. The characters were well written. I was rooting for the main male character from the beginning and the I loathed the main female character at the start. Little by little, all of the supporting roles start to leave their little mark on you. If you want a read that warms your heart and reassures of there is still some good in humanity left - give this one a try. You just might be surprised.

Jamie, an up-and-coming country musician was doing a benefit for the children's hospital with an artist named Clayton whom she could not stand.
Her record label president, Mike a.k.a. Doofus wanted her new album to be recorded in Nashville starting tomorrow which was New Years. Ruth, her bff and assistant sent for her clothes and her dog, Poppy Rose
I am absolutely loving the love hate relationship between Jamie & Clayton. I laugh, I cry and kick my feet while reading. The twists and turns are absolutely amazing.
I’m hoping that's a book two in the works since I need more

Gone Country is a delightful slow-burn romantic novel that, despite its leisurely development, unfolds at a brisk pace. Hunter crafts a fun romantic comedy that blends elements of the enemies-to-lovers trope, making it an ideal choice for unwinding during a cozy afternoon.
The characters are particularly engaging; they resemble oil and water at first glance. The female protagonist is a spirited rock performer, fiercely independent and a bit rough around the edges. In contrast, the male lead epitomizes the easy-going charm of country life, with his chill demeanour and warm heart. Their dynamic is charming, as they navigate their differences to find common ground. Together, they create a musical connection that resonates, and their witty banter had me chuckling throughout.
Overall, Gone Country offers a narrative filled with humour and just the right amount of romantic tension. I can’t wait to see what Hunter has in store for readers in the next book!

I received this book as an ARC and leave this review voluntarily. We have a country singer with southern charmes and hospitality, who lives on a cowboy ranch with an enormous library, falls first for a rock star and calls her madam and darlin'. This book shows opposites attract and you can have more in common than you may think. I gave this book 3,5 stars because the third person writing in dual pov confused me and I found some of the chapters ending really abruptly, which pulled me out of the story. But the chemistry between the characters is really cute, the banter is very funny and I loved all the music references. Really recommend this book!

This book was truly a joy to read. I received an arc copy before it was published. It took me a few days longer to read than I anticipated, however, I have no regrets on taking it slow. There was a strong arc of character growth for both the MMC and FMC, and many subplots that Hunter Snow tied up into a neat bow by the end. I loved all the amazing slow burn moments. I also feel like Jamie Keaton (The FMC) was a very well-rounded, well-developed character. The backstory of her growing up in Las Vegas and being quite the poker hustler (and her bonus competitive nature) made for so many hysterical moments. Hunter Snow bundled together all the great tropes - He falls first, close proximity, Single Dad, Enemies to Lovers... What more could a girl ask for? There was an abundance of chemistry between the main characters. By the end of the book, all the side characters (and crew members from recording and going on tour) became one big, happy family. I feel like I might miss some of these characters.

**Trigger warning: A few references to abandonment & Self harm
Mood: Humorous with a sprinkle of tender moments
Spice Level 3: Open door (Barely)
Chapter 33 (KU) Pages 357-360 - It's a really easy section to skip without losing any of the plot.

I really enjoyed this ARC! A music industry rom com with a country singing cowboy? Instant download 🤭

I felt there could have been more character development for both Jamie and Clayton. I wanted to know more about them and their past but really enjoyed reading them go from enemies to lovers. I believed their frustrations and emotions throughout the story.

Slow burn, enemies to lovers with musicians for main characters made this book really enjoyable!

I’m a music lover as well as a book lover & love a good rockstar romance. I’m always looking out for new books & new authors with these themes so was instantly drawn to this book. I liked the sound of it & decided to take a chance on this new author to me - & am so glad I did.

Jamie is a pop / rock star & Clayton is a country singer, both at the top of their game. Sharing a manager & publicist they’re asked to work together whilst they’re both in Nashville. There is some history between them. Neither knows much about the other’s music & genre; Jamie in particular is adamant in her dislike of country music & of Clayton in particular for a past incident. Clayton is attracted to Jamie, but quickly realises how easy it is to tease her, & delights in doing so. Sparks soon fly! Despite their differences, they find that they work well together & write good songs together, which helps deepen both the tension & the friendship. His particular brand of southern charm is gorgeous, but just doesn’t work on her.

I loved the way that music is at the heart of this story; it’s an essential part of each of the main characters, drawing them together & providing the context in which their friendship & working relationship develop. I loved the way the author integrates the fictional & the real world of music, & if country music in particular with references to just enough real life country stars to give context to the story, which I really appreciated. The musical references helped me imagine the kind of music Clayton & Jamie performed individually & together, & sent me off to listen to some of the songs referenced in the story - including a particular favourite of mine - “Shut up and kiss me”. I’d love it if the author could produce a track list to go with this book.

I really enjoyed this book. It’s a great story with main characters who are believable & likeable, & a superb supporting cast with Clayton’s family, especially his twin daughters, & their dogs. There’s some lol moments, & I read this with a smile on my face. I can’t wait to read more by this author.

With thanks to the author & Netgalley for the opportunity to read an ARC of this gorgeous book.

When Gone Country begins it feels like an enemy to lovers' romance but reality the animosity is one sided. The author brings the reader a fun story about 2 people who have had some misunderstandings but when they let their guard down are great together.
Jamie seems to be a bit of a hot head when she’s introduced. Making everything about her and what said people have done to her, especially Clayton. She wasn’t good enough to go on tour with him. She’s not a country artist. And the list goes on. So when she has to do an NYE event with him, which was originally supposed to be just her, she’s on a rampage.
But what she doesn’t realize is how that NYE event is going to change her life. She also doesn’t know the real reason Clayton didn’t take him on his tour 5 years ago. Maybe once she learns that she won’t continue to hide her feelings. However you’re going to have to read to find that out.
Clayton on the other hand is excited to be near and potentially work with Jamie. He feels bad that he was unable to take her on tour and wants to make things right. He also likes her. Which is also why he wants to be around her. So when he helps her finish her “drinking song” he suggests that they perform it at an open mic. An open mic performance that ends up going viral keeping them in each other’s paths.
Which irritates Jamie but puts Clayton on cloud nine.
Now that the studio wants them to work & tour together, how will that change their dynamic?
Will he explain why, after all these years?
Will she forgive him?
This story is fun and playful. A book that you will want to keep turning the page vs putting down.
I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I have! Happy reading!!

ARC Review: Gone Country by Hunter Snow
✨ He’s a little bit country, she’s a little bit rock and roll… and together? Absolute fire.
As a country music lover, this book made my heart sing. Gone Country felt like stepping inside a country song—full of heart, grit, heat, and just enough heartbreak to make the healing feel earned.

Jamie and Clayton’s dynamic had me hooked from the start. Their enemies-to-lovers tension was palpable, with a delicious slow burn that paid off beautifully. He fell first (and fell hard), and watching Jamie slowly let down her walls made me smile more than once. And let’s talk tropes—dual POV, forced proximity, single dad?! Yes please.

Now, was their communication flawless? Not always. There were moments where I wanted to step into the book and shake them, but that frustration made the payoff even sweeter. And while I had a few theories brewing (and even got excited about one in particular), Hunter Snow surprised me with a twist I absolutely didn’t see coming—and I loved every second of it.

Some side characters didn’t win me over, but the story stayed strong, and the emotional beats landed just right. The chemistry was intense without being overly descriptive—spice is present, but implied more than shown, which worked well for this story.

Overall, Gone Country is a feel-good romance with just enough edge. It’s a story about healing, learning to trust, and finding harmony where you least expect it. I'm so glad I got to read this early—Hunter Snow, you’ve got a new fan. 🎸💫

Thanks to NetGalley and Tellwell Talent for an advanced reading copy of Gone Country in exchange of my honest opinion. Gone Country was released on August 12, 2025.

Gone Country was just a fun read. 2 singers who had a misunderstanding several years earlier accidentally write a song together (they share a manager). When the song becomes a hit, they’re thrown together for all the press events. However; making music doesn’t just happen. They form a friendship (the witty banter is the best part of this book!!) and then a romance.

The golden retriever, black cat trope works so well in this book!!! Jamie learns to trust, and Clayton shows her that he and his family are there for her. Clayton sees someone that really cares, she just needs to believe in herself. Jamie gets a found family, and although her traumatic childhood makes her think she doesn’t want children, she loves Clayton’s twin girls. Jamie and Clayton really bring the best out of each other, professionally and personally. The forced proximity of the tour, and the pranks they pulled on each other, made me laugh out loud while reading!

If you want a romance with a Nashville flair that shows the good in people, then this book will deliver. I started my first full week of work as an elementary school media specialist/librarian, and this book was a perfect romcom to help me relax after the craziness of each day. I want to read more of the author’s work after reading this!
