I love that I get involved in helping with Blog tours and promotions of authors work, and now and again I tend to weaken and choose a book that stands out to me. I help with the promotions but select books from them to review and THIS is just one that stood out. It stood out because it appealed to me. The cover is the first thing you see. Its the " appetizer" for me.

Here was have a thoughful woman, what is behind her sitting there reflecting? I needed to learn this.

Secondly it was reading the blurb.

Marci. Bringing her daughter into the world in one room and the father of her child dying in the next room.
The poignant scene that plays out at the start of this book will have you in tears. BUT I tell you this, don't put them tissues away because the ending you will need them again!!!

For five long years after the death of the man she adored, the man she loved so much, the only thing that keeps her going and the only thing she cares about is her daughter.

I admired Marci, she kept in touch regular with her late husbands parents, his Mother was an interfering woman and came across as she was the only one that knew what was best for her granddaughter, one day, this comes to a head. But she does have support, she has support from her late husbands brother.
.....
She also meets Calvin.

...........

The actual novel I read within hours, in one sitting, its not the kind of book I could just walk away from and leave until another day, I had to stay with this.

I equally read the authors notes at the beginning and the ones at the end.

When I read the authors words coming from herself at the beginning of the book AND at the end, you could hear her "voice" as she writes the actual novel. She comes across as a very warm generous loving person. I know that sounds silly, but it really made an impact on me apart from the storyline.
I don't know why I mentioned that!!!! But I felt I had to.

Its a very emotively charged read, and I for one....loved it.

Thank you for my copy and to the author for a great read.

Sometimes in life you have to Just Try.

OMG!! I have just finished this story, like just this second. What a fantastic story about love, losing love and then finding new love. I was crying from just reading the prologue and chapter one.
Maci has had some hard times in her life. Trying to get over the love you lost from that person because they died. I think that made it so much harder for Maci because she didn't fall out of love, the person was taken from her when she still loved them, and I think that kind of love is always going to be with you, no matter how much time passes.
But I loved every second of reading this story, it made me laugh and cry all in one. I finished it in one sitting.
I am so glad that Maci got a HEA because she deserved it.
Calvin is one hot man, and he is perfect for Maci in every way.

Moving on after losing the love of your life is never easy, but when Calvin walks into Maci’s life, feelings she thought were buried resurface. Calvin makes Maci want to live life again, to love again.

Just Try is a contemporary romance that you will want to read again and again. Lisa Robinson truly pulls at your emotions in this book; you will need a box of tissues ready from the very first page. I loved Maci, after being dealt a rough set of cards in life she embraced being a mother. I absolutely loved Calvin; he is as honest as you can get, and he says exactly how he feels. He knows that having Maci in his life also means Layla in his life, and he loves that little girl like she’s his own. Along with tear jerking moments, this book is full of laughs too. This story is a true inspiration to single mothers; everyone deserves someone to care for them, and sometimes we have more than one soul mate in life.

If you love contemporary romance, that brings tears to your eyes one minute and has you laughing out loud the next, you will love this book!

Let me start of by saying that I don’t think I have ever ugly cried at a book so much before.

From the first page I was hooked, this is the type of book that I would love to see get made in to a film, its beautifully written, raw and gritty.
I feel like no other book has ever connected with me as emotionally as this book has done, being a parent and a wife just made everything hit home harder for me.
I loved the characters, I loved this whole entire book, it’s sweet and refreshing to read something that’s totally different to what’s out right now.
I was laughing, swooning and crying from page to page, Just Try is really a rare gem and I look forward to reading more by Lisa, she is a fantastic writer and her debut novel is going to be a breakout hit.
I finished the book in a couple of hours, I would recommend to anyone to pick up and read this easy and effortless read.
Dam you Lisa S Robinson for making me ugly cry more than I have ever cried at a book in my life!!

This book was fantastic. It pulled at my heart strings from the very first page and kept me rapt through the whole book.
The lead lady Maci has a tough beginning to her story but she is a strong, hugely likeable character who isn't whiney and I warmed to her instantly.
The lead guy, the gorgeous Calvin, is sure to become a new BBF for everyone who reads this story.
The story had me laughing, crying, swooning and enjoying the story right along with the characters.
It's a wonderful debut novel and I look forward to reading more from this great writer.

I was provided a copy of the book by the Author for an honest review.

I just finished reading this book, and I love it, love the characters and love how the book turned out to be, this is a story about second chance at love, about how to step out of your comfort zone, and tried to take the chance that life is giving you, I'm gone keep this short since I don't want to give anything away.

The story begging with Maci, she's at the hospital about to welcome her baby into this world. While at the same time her husband is dying, after she gave birth to a little girl, she told the doctor to take her to see her husband, for he could meet his daughter, that was the day that change her life. But when she show up at her dead husband family house, and her friend Aaron show up she look up to see Mr Hottie from the gym, that's when she meets him and his name is Calvin, that's when she star to feel alive again.

Just Try was a crazy emotional read. In the prologue, Marci is bringing her daughter into the world in one room and in another room Flynn, the love of her love and the father of her child, dying in the next room. That was written so great teat the emotions jut jumped off the page. I was definitely hooked into the story after reading the prologue. The main story starts five years later. Maci is raising her daughter Layla. Flynn parents are anything but accepting but Flynn's brother Arron is always around to help.

Maci hasn't dated since Flynn. She meets Calvin. Calvin is a friend of Arron. Maci is attracted to Calvin but isn't sure she's ready to move on from Flynn. Calvin is patient and willing move slowly with Maci. I really liked Maci strong character who has been through a lot. Calvin is just prefect. I loved reading there story.

I was given the great opportunity to read this for a review by the author. I was actually speechless from the emotions that were running through me after I finished Just Try.
We meet Maci who has been through some pretty tough obstacles in the past. She is living in her own bubble and does not want to leave that. Until Calvin enters the picture. Oh my word Calvin the no filter make you swoon type of man. I am a huge fan of his! He gives Maci all the perfect reasons to drop her guard and to give them a chance. But can Maci really let go and move on? Or is she really stuck in her bubble?
I absolutely devoured this book. It took me on a roller coaster of emotions. One minute I was laughing and smiling and the next I was a blubbering mess! I loved all the characters. It was a perfect mix of an adorable little girl, to the funny outspoken best friend.
I would definitely recommend this book to everyone and I know I will be on the lookout for whatever Lisa comes out with next!!

The book had me and down with my emotions and drew me into the book with happy tear and sad tears. What fantastic story.
Sometimes in life you just got to let go and JUST TRY!!
Maci was trying to get over the loss of her husband Flynn but yet still be a new mum and dad to her daughter Layla. For year's in her own protective Flynn bubble with Layla not letting anyone in.
Until Calvin walks into her life and starts feelings she has never felt before.
But can Maci move on from Flynn and stop shutting everyone out to realise she needs happiness in her life for her and her daughter.
I am truly honoured to read this book for you.

This book is one that will pull at your heartstrings. I was unable to put it down once I started it. The story is one that deals with the reality of loss and how hard it is to move on.

When Maci is finally able to deal with her lost love and try to move on that is all she can promise just to try. Calvin was willing to take what he could get and help her to move on, with him.

The emotions run high through this book but it is still a good story that is not all sadness but watching the phoenix rising from the ashes.

I highly recommend this book and give it a five star rating.

I really enjoyed this book. What a really great second chance love story.
I was beautiful, heartwarming, sad, loving, sexy. I loved every page of this book.

Maci, she is a beautiful, single mom. She has not been handed the best life. But She has done well with what she has. She is strong and independent and what I can gather does not take crap from no one.

Calvin..OMG..this man is amazing. He is perfection. I could not have written a better man. He is passionate, thoughtful, and he is down right sexy. He will make you swoon..

I loved this book. Well written love story. Great story.

The prologue just made me cry!! I had to get my tissues ready before I continue to read on! (Highly recommend some tissues before you start this amazing story!)

We meet an amazing woman - Maci was about to give birth - supposedly to be the most beautiful time of her life, but she's bringing her baby early a week before her due date so her dying husband Flynn could meet their newborn baby as he doesn't have much time.... OMG like I said the prologue was an emotional read but I have to say its just so bittersweet..

Five years later, Maci is raising her daughter Layla with everything she's got with some support of her family & her blasted in-laws! Her best friend Brooke - I just love her sass!! and Arron is her brother in law - doting Uncle to Layla..

She meets Calvin who's Arron's best friend from the Army.... funny thing is that she already seen him at the gym but didn't know his name till they met properly in Flynn's parents house as part of their annual get together to celebrate Flynn much to Maci's dismay but she does it, She's so bloody strong even though she doesn't feel like it at times.

He's a real man in my eyes!! Love the way he's got no filter so he says what he wants to say.... seriously how hot is that???

Here's some of his sayings...
"I don't flirt, Maci, and I don't play games. I like you and would like to get the chance to get to know you better, Arron talked about you so much, I couldn't wait to meet you. I've heard so much about you that I kind of feel like I know you already."

"In my thirty-two years, I've never had a lady buy me drink and I don't intend to start now. You will unman me. I'm old school, babe. Another Rose?" **Swoon** I just love Calvin!!

Holy shit no wonder Maci was so confused and feeling a little guilty... but then comes Brooke with her sass telling Maci enough of hiding behind the Flynn bubble and Just Try...

OMG I just cried my bloody eyes out when Maci finally felt ready to read Flynn's letter he wrote before he passed away.... I was a soppy mess that I couldn't read till my tears were gone...

It's was the most beautiful & so emotional story to read, I just loved every god damn bit!!

Seriously this author Lisa totally blew me away with this amazing story, and for that I thank you...

*Gifted for an honest review – 4 stars
For a debut novel this is really quite good and I am definitely looking forward to seeing what Lisa brings us in the future. Clearly it’s not an original story line so I often look to the delivery and the writing style to see if and what sets it apart from others. Unfortunately for me I struggled to read this without comparing it to another story that is a little similar in subject matter and that pulled me off my stride. It’s not to say that the writing wasn’t good because it was, very good in fact. The prologue certainly had me reaching for those tissues and I knew I was in for a bumpy ride with the content.
I liked the characters; they were quite wholesome people who had their heads screwed on the right way so therefore I didn’t encounter too much angst and anger here. It’s there, in small doses but doesn’t override the story. The addition of a child in any novel always has a reader oohing and ahhing (unless you don’t care for kids) and I felt my heart melting at little scenes involving Layla. Maci is nice, for me she didn’t really stand out as a really strong character. Yes she had her moments but she just seemed like a normal Mum trying to live here life. And Cal….well, he’s the kind of guy I like to read about. Not too alpha, heart of gold and not afraid to say what he means.
It’s worth a read for sure and it does grab you right at the start. But it is very emotionally charged and it will pull that from you so please have those tissues handy. The four star rating is due to constantly thinking of another book whilst reading. Not Lisa’s fault I’m sure, none the less it’s there and I haven’t had that before when I’ve been reading. I loved the cover, thought it was very simple and fit well with the story! Great debut Lisa x

This was a good debut from this author to me. She was able to grab you from the first page until the end. The way we were introduced to the story was heartbreaking. The heroine Maci goes through something that she couldn't imagine and I felt so sad for her. But I loved the determination that she set to live for her daughter Layla-that was beautiful. So after five years of living comfortably in this bubble of just her and her daughter, a sexy wrench named Calvin comes into play that just might make her want to venture outside that bubble. Calvin was mister cool, smooth, and sexy. He wanted Maci and was determined to make her "just try" and find happiness. Will Maci be able to do that or is she afraid to step out of her comfort zone?

I really loved the characters of Maci, Calvin, and Layla. Individually they were fantastic but together they were so sweet and perfect. I loved how Calvin was able to make a good rapport with Layla. As a reader, I could tell that he truly cared for her and wasn't doing so because he liked her mother. It was so great to see Maci's progression from when we were introduced to her after the prologue to the end of the story. Now there were some bumps in the road but I felt that it actually made Maci more real and it made her really evaluate her feelings about everything. I was glad with the ending-it was so beautiful. I loved how everything came full circle in a way.

This was a good read that had moment of sadness, laughter, and sweet with wonderful characters!

Every now and again, you stumble across a book that, from the first page, will have you hooked, and this lovely is no different!

I had heard a lot of buzz about this book in the blogging community and could not wait to get my hands on it.

Maci is a young mother who has been through an awful tragedy. Trying to raise her young daughter, Layla, with the help of her best friend, Brooke and Layla’s uncle, Arron, she has closed her heart off from finding love again. There was only one man for her. But can she open her heart again and …just try?

When she meets Calvin, Arron’s best friend, she cannot hide her feelings, and neither can Calvin.

I loved the chemistry between the two of them. There was a banter that can only come from finding a person that knows the real you.

Maci is a wonderful character. I loved her from the first sentence. She is strong, a wonderful mother and a great friend.

Calvin is the ultimate man’s man that the author had me falling in love with him! He is hot, funny, charming and tender. He loves Maci with all he has and it shows!

This novel had it all…sadness, humour, passion. I cried, laughed and was rooting for Calvin and Maci from their first meeting.

Lisa S Robinson has outdone herself with this debut novel and I CANNOT WAIT for more from her!

FIVE STARS for this wonderful novel !

My Review
This is a story of a woman whose life is changed in an instant. This is the story of how one day can fill your heart with joy...then smash it into a million pieces. This is the story of a woman learning to start over. This is Maci's story.

God i don't even know where to begin with this story...it gets inside of you, fills you with questions and leaves you doubting your own life. How on earth would you cope in that situation? How do you move on when your heart belongs to someone else...just because they're gone...doesn't mean that your heart forgets how to love them? Then in walks Calvin...someone who makes your heart begin to beat again? someone who makes you want to hope for a happily ever after? someone who begins to breath life into a section of you that you thought had been buried along with your husband.

Now, what did i think...well, it was exceptionally well written, the plot and story development were flawless! The progression of the romance between Maci and Calvin was believable and also respectful. The internal emotional conflict Maci faces was beautifully written! I actually cant remember the last time i read something that's left me so filled with sadness and joy and a million other emotions.
Very well done Lisa. I'd love to see a follow up...little hint there...lol

Reviewing on behalf of Relentless Book Chics Ramblings and Reviews

A heart-warming story about a woman who finds the strength to “Just try” after 5 years of just existing in her own world, with just one person to focus on, her daughter.

Maci has her life turned upside down by tragedy at the start of the book, I didn’t think I’d need tissues in a prologue but Lisa made sure I did.
As a mom myself, I can’t imagine the pain she went through but understand her need to survive for the sake of her daughter.

She’s an amazing mom and this comes across in the dialogue between her and Layla. She has family around to support her and didn’t think she needed anyone else. Then along came Calvin.

I’ve now added him to my list of book boyfriends, he’s a no nonsense, say it like it is kind of bloke who wears his heart on his sleeve and isn’t afraid to admit his feeling for Maci right from the start.

Maci needs some convincing that her world needs anyone else in it and her outspoken best friend Brooke(her story will be told in Lisa’s second book)tells her a few home truths about the “bubble” she keeps herself in.

This book will take you through every emotion and I can’t believe it’s the author’s début novel, it’s flawless. A definite 5 star read that I would recommend to all my friends.

It was a great read right from the beginning. it terribly awful about Flynn, who you quickly come to know in the prologue. The way they named their daughter together was extremely sweet, that was my fav scene! I love Maci's independent, the single mom strong persona she throws off. I was laughing & cheering on Maci when Flynn/Arron's mom Marie was being really rude with the things she was saying about how Layla was being raised. Layla's sweet demeanor and how she wants to do everything, & seems to have everyone wrapped around her little finger is such a 5yr old girl for you! Arron is a really sweet uncle/BIL, but when his emotions for Maci and Layla get mixed up for "love or lust" it throws the story for a loop. I love Brooke! I can't wait to read her story, you can tell there's more to her ways of not just staying with 1 man.
Calvin is a true gentleman. He lefts his soft side, the other side of him out with Maci & Layla. They have that kind of love that makes you want to go all in and not be scared anymore to let somebody in. This is a HEA, a woman realizing she can love again & love will find you when your least expecting it to.

Just Try is a second chance at love story about Maci and her daughter Layla. Maci's husband dies from cancer the day that their daughter is born. Maci is a great mom and is content to be alone. Well she was until she see's a mystery man at the gym staring at her. Then he shows up at her in-laws house. Turns out he, Calvin, is a friend of her late husband's brother, Aaron. The chemistry between Calvin and Maci is off the charts from the beginning. Will Maci be able to let go of Flynn and just try?

What an amazing quick read. From the first page the author had me invested in this story. I couldn't put the book down, I had to know what was going to happen next. The characters were well written and easy to connect with. Maci was a strong, independent woman. Aaron was the perfect friend and uncle. And Calvin...well Calvin was perfection! He is worthy of the title of a swoon worthy book boyfriend. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a second chance love story. I look forward to reading more from this author.

I was fortunate enough to receive an ARC copy of this book to read and review!

I am in shock after reading this great book that it is the authors debut novel! It was written spectacularly well and I truly wouldn't have thought it was her first!
This book made me laugh and cry, a lot! I adore all of the characters in the book and cannot wait to read more about them! Especially Brooke!
Maci is such a strong inspirational woman who knows firsthand all about loss, and although she lives her life for her daughter, I think she knew something was missing, she just avoided the thought and focused on her Layla.
Enter Calvin, a hot as hell guy who has a heart of gold, AH I love him! His sexy sweetness, dimples and winks! The guy every woman wants!
This is such a fantastic story and I cannot wait to read more from this incredibly talented author!

Just Try

A story which begins with the worst thing you can imagine can only get better right?

Lisa's story of young a widow (Maci) with a daughter trying to move on with her life 5 years after the death of her husbands really pulls at the heart strings. Throw in a hunky ex-soldier, a jealous brother-in-law and a feisty best friend and you could have the recipe for any other chick lit out there. However, what Lisa brings to the table is about being a mum. Layla, Maci's daughter is brought to life in the pages in a way only a mother knows how. It's as much the child's story as it is the mothers.

Just Try is about moving on, letting yourself live and love again. It's lovely.

PS. Tissues needed

Wow - what a prologue. I can honestly say I have never cried at the beginning of a book before... but, this... My heart broke and the tears flowed. Maci has so much courage, I felt like I was taking this journey with her and willing her through, willing her to ''Just Try''. This is the kind of book that once you have picked up, you can't put down. It's the kind of book that will stay with you long after you've finished reading. Congratulations, Lisa, on a fantastic, emotionally charged, début novel.

Never give up believing...
"Just Try" is a beautiful novel about hope and not losing faith even when life has dealt you a really bad hand. The story gutted me, made me cry and laugh but above all it touched my heart and left me with positive vibes because no matter how tough things seem to be...we should never lose faith...keep looking forward and you will soon see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Just a lovely, sweet romance book. I loved seeing Maci slowly getting over the tragic loss that held her back from truly living for anything other than her daughter. It was lovely to watch as she opened her heart up again. I ugly cried a few times, especially in the first chapter, and I laughed along with the characters.
