Prayer was intended to be a conversation—a two-way dialogue between God and you. It’s only when you learn to speak and listen that you open up the limitless potential of communication with your Creator. In this book you will It will change your life, forever. “As a pastor for 47 years and seeking to lead people into a dynamic relationship with the Father, I know of no more valuable and necessary thing than what Mark so simply and definitely teaches. I highly recommend this book as a vital and necessary aid for growing and maturing Christians.”— Peter Lord, pastored the Park Avenue Baptist Church for over 20 years “When I heard Mark’s material in the early 80s, it quadrupled my ability to hear God’s voice, taking a lot of the guesswork out.”— Dale Bolton, Senior Pastor, Thornhill Vineyard, North Toronto “Dialogue with God has dramatically changed my prayer life. I have found I can dialogue with Christ on a daily basis. I believe this inspired approach to be absolutely essential to the growth of every serious Christian.”— Dr. Richard Watson, Dean of the School of Education, Oral Roberts University
This book was very well written, easy to understand, and easy to apply! It has more information in it than the "How to Hear God's Voice" workbook, but could easily be used in tandem to really help you learn to not only hear God, but have confidence in what you hear! This book helps remove the fear that satan likes to keep us bound up in that usually prevents us from even believing that hearing God is a possibility.
This is a great resource for anyone seeking to hear God's voice and commune with Him. The author helps us to understand where we can hear God's voice. There are many sources with many voices in our society today. No we need to learn how to listen to God's voice and speak with Him in the ways He communicates to us. I found this an enlightening book and helpful for personal devotion.
Really good introduction on learning to hear the voice of God and how to communicate with Him. Some very practical steps and tips to use. Worth a read.
Dialogue with God is a great book to teach or remind you of how intentionally and intimately God wants to be involved with you. Not just a judgemental God that hovers over the earth but one that has been anticipating your arrival since the formation of the universe.
There were times while reading the book that I would start to feel unsure of what Virkler was writing, thinking thoughts like, "this is getting a little fruity" or "this feels new age-y" but then (like he was anticipating it) he would establish boundaries and clarify things in the next section.
The level of journaling Virkler talks about and provides examples of seems wild to me. In a, "God will really say that much to someone?" kind of way. I think it is a great thing to take to the Lord and wrestle with Him about. And no matter where you end up standing on that particular point, I would not discount the rest of the things Virkler teaches.
I do highly recommend this to anyone seeking a deeper, more full relationship with God.
I'm going to be spending a while reading this with my network group (small church group). There are days when I look at my growing reading list and drool, but then there are days when I want to scrap all of it and simply read the Word, a book like Virklers, practice hearing God with brother & sisters in Christ or just meditate and be alone with nothing else to read or do for the rest of the year.
This book is so deep, hard to summarize. Powerful. Opened my eyes and ears to the voice of God in so many new ways... I borrowed this from a friend, and really want to buy it for myself to keep, it is a must re-read for me!
