Holyshyitttt!
Book 6 is really tense since page 1!
It's like, Wu Xie and co were always in dire situation, trapped in swamp full with deadly-intelligent snake. And when finally Wu Xie reunited with his Uncle and meet Chen Wen-jin, he has to brace himself for the truth.

And I keep thinking about Chen Wen-jin expedition twenty years ago. A group of archeology student set up a dangerous journey following Wang Chan-hai footstep. Who are they? I don't think they're ordinary student. And my suspicion confirmed by Uncle Three letter to Wu Xie in the end of book 6.

Also Zhang Qilin background even more puzzling now that he's lapse into another amnesiac state, and how's he joined Chen Wen-jin group?

Book 6 is the latest book officially translated in English which I enjoyed it a lot. I hope the rest of this saga will be translated too (^..^)

This is an amazing saga, filled with terror, mistery, monsters, breath taking landscapes, even secrets have their own secrets, and a plot twist that you would not believe till you read this book. The last one of the series translated to this date (the series have 9 books)

this book, could be a very good ending to the saga, but you, like me, will want the rest to answer every question we have left.

With characters as varied and funny as Fats, Panzi, and mistery like Qilin, you are sure to get a roaller coaster of emotions from the first page till the last

In the hinterland of the Shiwanda Mountains, in Banai, Guangxi, in order to help Wu Xie’s best friend, Zhang Qi Ling retrieve his memories, Wu Xie and Fatty reenter the danger and collect clues about the Xisha incident. Through the dictation of Papa Panma, everything is even more confusing. The nightmare is just beginning. They almost enter the magic lake, discover the ancient Yao village hundreds of meters underwater, the Han-style compound hidden in it and something more frightening than the ancient tomb.Iron man burial, thunder king statue, shadow in the stone, and sacrifice to the living are found by Wu Xie. They die all their lives, and “its” intentions are so elusive. With the echo of the unicorn tattoo and the ancient village, the life experience of Zhang Qi Ling becomes clearer than ever.
The Graver Robbers' Chronicles is a section of novels about Wu Xie and his friends' adventures. I like this part of the story among the 9 books because it is about finding Zhang Qi Ling’s life. The interaction of the three people was very hilarious and made me laugh until I felt breathless. But it can be seen from their squabbles that they do not need words of tacit understanding. At the moment of life and death, even if they will lose their life, they will desperately protect each other. My tears almost fell out of my eyes when Fatty and Zhang Qi Ling areHovering on the edge of life and death because of saving Wu Xie. I admire author Lei Xu.His writing can make me fall into the story and become the character in the book. His books sometimes are scary and horrible but always suspenseful. I really wanted to know the mystery of the story so I finished all the books in this section within a month.
I love all of Lei Xu’s books but this one is my favorite. I suggest that don’t read it by yourself at night if you’re timid. However,it will be very exciting to read for the people who don’t believe in ghosts!

[4 or 4.5 if I consider the whole arc] I can see how the author considers everything up until now "season 1" omg... always always we get answers but more questions! Some things have ended... but so many things are still happening that need to be dealt with. "It" is still lurking in the shadows... which is so creepy. This was a great "season 1 finale" book.

Vol 5 and 6 contain the strongest arc for plot and characters by FAR. We had such great character moments, it seems the author has really settled into the flow of things and found everyone's character, and I felt like we're finally building these strong relationships. The plot was so much fun, mixed with some truly creepy shit. Are we really never going to know Definitely my favourite DMBJ adventure so far! Cool setting, snakes, myth, danger, friendship, answers - it's great!

Of course, if you only rely on the official translation this is the end - but I've completely turned to reading the superior fan-translation, and so I have loads more books to read in this series! Wu Xie and co aren't done yet!

Speaking of the translation, I have to say it's truly abysmal how this series has been presented to English speakers. The changes and cuts are inexcusable! How is it that I can read a thrilling sequence of events that spans 11 chapters, and then the official version cuts and compresses that wholeeeee thing into just 10 pages. It's horrible!

I'm sorry, i thought this was the last book in the series but apparently it's not?? which i am very happy to hear but WHERE IS THE REST PLEASE i want to read them.

I really feel like the characters grew into themselves in this book, and i very much enjoyed reading it. once again, wu xie finally stopped yelling and now he only does when he has reason to - and god, i understand him, everyone keeps lying to him and feeding him stories and telling him to be patient and stay away from it all and just ignore everything and go back to his own life, or they just straight up tell him that "he won't believe them anyway" like i completely understand his frustration with his uncle.

i rarely ever come across a plot twist that makes me want to put down a book and just yell but this is what happened here, i didn't expect it and i needed a few minutes to calm down lol.

pacing is better than in the earlier books, but it's not as good as book five was - i'm gonna go with 3.5 stars, rounding up to 4 because of how much i grew to like the characters and how much that plot twist floored me (SERIOUSLY. WHAT. i haven't seen all of the drama adaptations so i have no idea if this is revealed earlier in the live actions but HOLY SHIT.)

Reviewing as a drama fan:

Although there are some differences, this book has been adapted most accurately into it’s drama counterpart (Ultimate Note).

These books just continue to pick up the pace which makes them ridiculously easy, quick, and fun to breeze through. There are some genuinely creepy moments throughout and we really start to see Wu Xie’s transformation come to fruition. A young boy once satisfied with burying his head in the sand and living a comfortable life unravels into the man we’ve come to know as being absolutely obsessed with unraveling the never ending mysteries that surround him. It is very rewarding to see.

The friendship between the iron triangle is stronger than ever. Xiao Ge remains aloof in a way that is much more remote than his drama counterpart. However, we also finally see the more vulnerable side of Xiao Ge.

While there are still many questions left unanswered (in true dmbj fashion), we are given SOME answers to mysteries laid out by previous books and seeing them explained thoroughly in print made them easier to comprehend than the drama did.

Overall, definitely my favorite book so far. Very excited to keep moving forward with the fan translated sequels online.

I devoured this book in a day and a half and loved every moment, it was fast paced and full of adventure but also had quiet emotional moments. Major questions become revealed and Wu Xie finally gets an answer to a family secret that has plagued him. As much as secrets get revealed, more are there to take their place.
I will be eagerly awaiting the translations for the last two in the series. Until then I will move on to the next series from this fantastic author

With all the face slapping from various party members that Wu Xie had to endure, you would think that his face would be permanently red. It was a good book that answered some big questions and put in their place yet more questions. I've always immensely disliked Uncle Three, both in books and in TV show adaptions, and this explores much more of his character and gave me justification for those negative feelings that I had had toward him ever since reading the first book.

Absolutely phenomenal. I think this might be the best entry into the series so far, as it builds so beautifully on everything that came before it, leaves the characters completely changed by what they have experienced, and leaves so many mysteries yet to be solved. It's such a shame that THIS is where the official translation ends... And that I now need to go do a full reread of the unoffical translation :)

If you've read other DMBJ books, you know exactly what to expect. Biggest issue is that this is the last one officially translated into English, but there are still other books in Chinese and there are plenty of loose threads.

Many questions have been answered, but many remain, the latter helpfully listed in the last chapter!

Love the series, but somehow its seems like they have not ended or there are other books.
The series were thrilling and very page filled with humor and adventure. You will love to hate specific characters and hate to love them.
