Rate this book
M/M romance.

The Soul Bond short stories take place in a world where everyone is a Submissive or a Dominant and a person’s place in society and in a relationship is based on their dynamic rather than their gender.

In this story Jim, a Sub who has grown up seeing how dangerous Doms can be, is horrified to find him Soul Bonded to Marcus, a divorcee who wasn't looking to have to start all over again. Together they have to find a way to overcome their pasts to find a way to build a life together.

I wasn't quite the target market for this book, but I still rate this a solid "I liked it."

It is kind of 'pick the source' fanfic-esque, but let's be real; m/m BDSM is so far from real life BDSM that it's all a form of fan fic these days. There are conventions in BDSM that exist only in fiction, and the sub-genre is so self-referential that stories which have one foot in reality are in the minority.

So if I say this is Xanthe's BDSM verse, mixed with everything Sean Michal ever wrote, and the Soul Bonds trope so beloved in fanfic, I am not being disparaging. (Oh, and then Kennedy sends his characters to Starfleet Academy).

I think this deserves a broader audience than it's getting. The writing is in no way inferior to Sean Michael. Why it hasn't taken off more is that Kennedy hasn't quite nailed that deep neediness that SM and Mary Calmes both do so well. If zie could work on that, and keep the other elements, I think zie could be a very popular writer. Currently this is just too emotionally removed from the reader to hook us in like crack.

I found this a little light and fluffy, for my personal tastes, to rate higher. So I rec'd it to my dear friend Sarah_loves_books, and she found it too dark (. So I'm not sure who I would rec this to.

But I would definitely buy another from this author, because I'm interested to see how they'll develop.

I rate 2.5 stars, rounded up.

BTW I have a Kindle copy of this I will lend to people who want it and are comfortable messaging me their email. Emma currently has it.

This sounds like BDSM AU fanfic of Sean Michaels' Bent. This worries me that I found it on Amazon. Hopefully if it's actually fanfic, then it's free all the time and not just for a promo.

Unusual take on D/s in a futuristic world. I found the writing style appealing and the story interesting. Left me with an interest in reading more in this universe.

I really enjoyed this book, although I am not into BDSM, this was more showing the tender side. M/M romance is my favorite genre, and when one of the characters are sensitive; well, that makes it magical

A different type of BDSM

Futuristic world with Doms and Subs that includes Soul Bonds, this is a great premise. I really like the characters and storyline. I got this for free, but I would buy more in the series.

That was a sweet read, two guys have to overcome their pasts to make their new relationship work. I was glad to read that in the end they did something about the abusive relationship of Jim's mom.
