Trusting God to fight my battles requires letting go of self-sufficiency. Some of us struggle with being able to do it all ourselves. This book challenged me to relax, to let go and let the Creator take care of my battles. We all have them, but how we navigate them determines our health and well being. It was the perfect book at the perfect time for me.
Let God Fight Your Battles: Being Peaceful in the Storm by Joyce Meyer Its a good short read with interesting revelation on spiritual warfare with how to guide on letting God fight for you while you wait on God.
This is my first Joyce Meyer book and I was a little skeptical going into it. But I think she did a wonderful job addressing the subject matter, including appropriate scripture and keeping all of her statements Bible based. My only complaint is that I believe she should have read it herself. I think that would have made it even more effective. (To clarify this, I "read" the audio book version!)
I have read many of Joyce Meyer's books and consider her one of my favorite readers. I have always found at least a nugget or two that I will carry with me. I had trouble with that in this book. I would highly recommend the author, just not this book.
I love Joyce Meyer. She has a great ability to make the Bible relatable to every day life. She has great explanations and no matter how many of her books I read or podcasts I listen to, I always end up with several pearls of knowledge and inspiration.
I was so worried about my current trials and how I was going to fix it. After reading this book, I realized it is not my place to figure it out. I need to give my trials to God, and worship Him while he rescues me.
Included a range of themes from all parts of the bible. Not the most thought provoking book I've read but good to remind yourself of God's will during times of suffering.
I’ve read Joyce since 1999. I’ve listened and watched her since then also. She is a powerful writer, speaker and awesome woman of God.
This book talks of how when things come against us we can hand these things over to God for Him to battle on our behalf. The Bible is full of passages where God promises his protection from harm of all types. This doesn’t mean these trials don’t come our way, the Christian walk is not an easy one (like some think). In fact it’s the opposite. Especially these days.
One thing I’ve learnt on my journey is that people who hurt other people are hurting deeply. Their wounds have not healed. Something is broken inside them. What are we told to do by God? Forgive. No matter what. Forgiveness does not mean we forget but it does free us from a prison of anger, bitterness and overall ugly thoughts and feelings. This is why, even today I choose to keep forgiving and often need to call on God to do so.
My favourite scripture of all time is Jeremiah 29:11..
”For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.”
Joyce knows only too well what dark trials can be thrown our way. Her life journey and story is one of healing and total transformation from horrible circumstances. No matter what you face today - illness, personal loss, relationship heartbreak - God says hand it over to Him. When we try to fight our battles in our own strength it’s exhausting. God sees ahead, it’s hard to trust though right? Faith is trusting in things we cannot see.
God has worked literal miracles in my life over and over and when everything seemed to be coming against me suddenly things shift and there is no explanation for it in the logical sense. Literal times my life was saved.
This is a powerful book that can truly bless you. Joyce doesn’t write with fluff and glitter about how tough walking as God wishes us to is. It’s really very hard. Giving your struggles and battles over can be tough. As human beings we want to try to hold on to control but how many times do we picture an outcome that never appears? A lot right?
We need to get out of our own way in order for God to do HIS way in our battles. Trust me, if someone or something is coming for you and you are one of Gods children sooner or later (and Gods timing can be a lot longer than ours) you will see Gods justice at work. It takes patience.
When the darkness and trials feel they will swallow you up, hold on. God often moves at the eleventh hour! I can’t recommend this book and all of Joyce’s books highly enough. Even if you are not a Christian you’ll get something from her way of getting life messages across.
You might be in the midst of battle right now but Gods army is already ahead of you making the way clear.

I'm not so sure if I liked this book. Maybe You Can, You Will set the bar high, and that was so much easier to read! Although I was able to get some points from this book naman, and I like how Joyce would say “by the end of this book, I know that—“ it seems like she’s claiming it already and it makes me more motivated to really apply the things I’ve learned from books in to real life. I kinda had a hard time reading this, but I’m glad I was able to finish it. The overall message is: God has a battle plan prepared for me. Here are some of the takeaways I had:
- [ ] God is bigger than my problems - [ ] He already knows what to do before I even encounter the problem - [ ] Staying and standing still shows that we trust God. - [ ] Satan hates people who say thank you in the name of Jesus - [ ] Even if Satan comes our way, Jesus can always interfere and turn our bad situation in to good ones - [ ] Fear will stop me from fully experiencing God’s gift for me - [ ] Focus on God - [ ] I would rather please God and have people stay away from me, than please people and draw God away from me. - [ ] Spend time with Jesus. When I become a mom, I don’t want my kids to come to me every time they need something lany or if they need help, I want a relationship with them. God feels the same way. - [ ] Thanksgiving and focus on God first before presenting our problems, because by doing so, we are reminded that God is in control and that He’s behind all of these - [ ] Admit that I can’t do it myself - [ ] FULL dependence on Him; “We don’t know what to do, and even if we did, we wouldn’t have the strength to do it.” - [ ] Fight our battles God’s way, not the world’s way - [ ] God is changing me - [ ] While waiting, enjoying where you are on the way to where you’re going - [ ] Victory is waiting for me, winning is in my DNA
This book is directly applicable for all of us. From the beginning to the end you will be applying scripture to tumour lives and wondering why you didn’t realise this yourself after all this time.
You will also be looking into the lives of some biblical characters an levering how their experiences apply directly to you. You will want to please the Lord by surrendering to Him and realise that you should pray before anything, before doing anything , and before starting to worry.
We praise God, this is how we fight our battles.
This book is shockingly simple, yet profoundly deep. This book should take you a few days to read if idiot really apply yourself but it will suffice for the rest of your life. You will find yourself applying every day what you find here.
The Lord has been waiting your while life for you to let him take your hand, and let him enter in to your experience.
This is the first Joyce Meyer book I have read and it has some useful take-aways about how to handle stress, hardships and other unpleasant trials in life. It provides much encouragement and lots of scripture references. I liked that this wasn't one of those just think positive and everything will be just fine or just imagine you already have what you want and you'll be able to think it into your life type books. Joyce shares some of her personal trials as well, which may help readers feel not alone in their circustances. It was a quick and easy read. I look forward to reading another book of hers.
I really like Joyce Meyer's ministry, she is talented in her message and delivery. This book was a great way to start the new year as it is a good reminder of who really is in charge and how to find peace in the process of worshiping, waiting and working. I listened to this book and admit that I would have liked it more if it was actually read by Joyce Meyers as I did not like the narrator on this one and that can make or break an audiobook experience.
This book was a great read for me especially during Lent. Lots of tips you can use that encourage you to hand over all your battles to God instead of trying to face them on your own. Many times I find myself trying to do just that when I should be saying "I'm just going to hand this over to GOD" and be done with it.
Great read! Joyce uses relevant examples and knows how to uplift you. I recommend this to anyone looking for spiritual growth and how to pray and let God fight for you! Read! Read! Read! Seriously, get this book as Joyce shows you how to pray by opening your mind and heart to God, allowing God to fight your battles and gracing you with His favor.
I fully understand the need to have a testimony, but when does that become your identity. I love, love Joyce Meyer, but must she include her awful childhood in every book.
Trusting in God may be the only thing one can stand on for support. Good to be reminded that The Higher Power, is indeed such!
One of my all time FAVORITE Joyce Meyer books. Whatever it is you are struggling with, no matter how big or how small, this book will help you find the strength, wisdom, and courage you need to deal with it. God is in control and He will never leave you or forsake you. Thank you Joyce for another reminder of God's love and His "very" present help in times of trouble. Love, love, love this book!!!
This book was phenomenal and is a must read for those in need of a personal or professional breakthrough. Joyce Meyers fluid way of touching the reader’s heart through God’s word, faith attestations, and holiness does it for me. Read this book soon. You won’t regret it. It’s been a transformative experience for me as I hope it is for you.
this book truly blessed me. It gave me insight about life and how to worship when I’m going through my pain. I really recommend this book to anyone that are facing trials or tribulations in their life, and they need a breakthrough and have understanding of how to make it through
What a powerful book, this won’t be the only time I will read this. This book really touched me and is something I will keep in mind throughout this whole year, so glad I read this this month. God’s timing is perfect!
