From the author of Pond Magic – Lily Padd returns for more magic and mayhem…
Something weird is going on...very weird. Long black hairs keep sprouting from Lily’s chin and her dad is looking more and more like a Yeti. Just what’s behind this fuzz fest? And is Lily really turning into a witch like her neighbour, Mrs Swan?
Now the prettiest and meanest girl in class is threatening to tell the whole school, including the cute new boy. Can Lily put her desperate plan into action before the school bully strikes? And will the magical solution Mrs Swan offers work? After all, what’s the worst that could happen? A bewitchingly funny coming-of-age story about secrets, bullies and pumpkin soup.
Interspersed with magic, colourful characters and an unwilling heroine kids will really relate to, Snap Magic weaves humour with fantasy in a story that is guaranteed to engage the tween reader. The main character, Lily Padd, lives the life of an average angst-ridden twelve-year-old with one exception – her elderly next-door neighbour is a witch. Themes: trust, friendship, bullying, consequences, family relationships, coming-of-age, peer acceptance. 8-12 years.

I just finished reading this book with my two daughters. All three of us loved this book. Funny, engaging with enough mystery to keep us hanging on every word, this modern day Cinderella story was a highly enjoyable read. The girls both laughed throughout as the main character, Lily, was faced with some rather embarrassing magical moments. I certainly had a few giggles myself as I was taken back to my own early teenage years where the boys would go around 'snapping' the girls' bra straps. Highly recommend for tween and teen girls especially. "It was just so cool I want her to write a whole series," - Miss 9.
Feisty fun and wickedly funny, Angela Sunde has conjured up more magical mayhem for Lily Padd and best friend Maureen. Newly released, on the eve of Halloween, what better way to celebrate the magic of growing up than with pumpkins, frozen bras and hairy chins?! Fans of mid grade magic from 9 - 14 years will love Snap Magic.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading Snap Magic with my daughter. This story is engaging and humorous, with plenty of laugh out loud moments, which intrigued my boys to listen in too. Lily Pond is an enchanting character who finds herself working through some awkwardly hilarious situations. A story many girls would relate to and find amusing. Even one of my boys enjoyed it so much, he read it again later. I found it under his pillow with a torch.
Having adapted to reading a lot of 'boy' friendly books due to my three sons' particular tastes - wrestling, soccer, fantasy - I wasn't sure how much I would connect with Snap Magic. But I can tell you that I loved it. This is escapism at its best. It's an adorable little story that's easy and fun to read. The characters are impossible not to love and the plot is light and entertaining. It's the perfect book a child can disappear inside and one that might help relieve any stress they might be experiencing on the outside.
This is the type of book I implore all parents to buy their children, to sit alongside the more serious stories and classics that address deeper issues. Perfectly suited for girls to read alone or maybe with their mums and friends.
An absolute delight from start to finish, I loved 'Snap Magic' even more than Lily's first adventure, 'Pond Magic'. Strange hair growth, a cute new boy at school, first bras and pumpkin soup all play their part in this funny and charming book. Every tween girl (and every woman who can remember being a tween!) can identify with Lily. Great fun.
Hilarious and enjoyable read. Something quite wickedly enchanting about the spunky and irreverent Lily and an authenticity to tween concerns in life within a fantasy /mystery setting. Something I would have just loved to have read when I was nine to eleven, or had around for my daughter to read when she was that age too.
This enchanting book is both humorous and heartfelt, a story I will remember for a while. The author, Angela Sunde, has a knack of capturing exactly how young people feel and act, which mixed with her quick wit, makes for an entertaining read. Can't wait to read more from this delightful author!
This book reads like middle grade fiction dealing with young adult issues. Lily is acquiring her first bra while dealing with magic induced body hair. A quick enjoyable read.

WITCHES and magic never gets old, especially when it’s told in such a fun and creative way like it is in this novel.
Snap Magic focuses on the weird things happening in lily’s life, like how black hairs keep sprouting from her chin and her dad starts looking more and more like a Yeti with each day. In lily’s mind there is really only one reason for this…she’s a witch just like her neighbour, Mrs. Swan.
Angela Sunde has created a story that is full of magic and mischief. The language is easy to understand and fairly relatable.
Although the demographic for the book tends to stick to children, I found that I enjoyed it very much and could easily see older readers getting into the adventure for themselves.
Snap Magic is all about opening your imagination to the weird side of life and enjoying whatever comes along.
Can Lilly escape constant humiliation? Why is she growing black hard to remove hairs on her face? School is a nightmare.
Her mother is now a stack and snap saleswoman. She recruits Lilly and her best friend Maureen to do a leaflet drop on Halloween. They get a treat they didn't expect at Mrs Swan's next door. Could this be a way to save her Halloween dance from ruin, or, could it backfire?
Her dad is oblivious to her anguish. He is happy making Pumpkin soup to give to friends, even her favourite teacher Mr C gets a snap and stack tub. The soup he’s making is from the huge pumpkins in Mrs Swan’s garden. Has she put some magic spell on them to make them grow? After all she is a witch.
The worst thing about this book is that it ended. I love the lead in to Lilly's next adventure as it's sure to involve Storm, a new cute boy at school.
