Der große grüne Ork, der neben mir wohnt, ist so sehr geheimnisvoll.
Er arbeitet von zu Hause aus und geht selten nach draußen. Und wenn er doch einmal rausgeht, trägt er nie ein zugeknöpftes Hemd über seiner massiven Brust, egal wie das Wetter ist. Aber heute ist Valentinstag und ich mache mir Sorgen, dass der große Kerl traurig und einsam ist. Mein Nachbar sieht wütender aus und knurrt mehr als sonst, trotz des niedlichen Welpen, den er kürzlich adoptiert hat.
Und da ich an diesem Valentinstag zufällig auch allein bin, beschließe ich, ihm einen Teller meiner berühmten Zuckerkekse zu bringen.
Alle warnen mich davor, ihn zu stören, weil Orks immer ihre Bräute in der Dunkelheit des Winters beanspruchen.
Aber aus irgendeinem Grund beunruhigt mich das überhaupt nicht.

I’m going to go ahead and put this on my ‘should not exist’ shelf because this book absolutely should not exist.
This is the worst bit of writing I have seen in a long while. You can tell this author received a lot of participation trophies growing up because only someone with a crazy amount of overconfidence would press publish on this piece of garbage.
Add to that, this had a really creepy tone and the white saviorism and traditional wife/woman/caregiver vibes were off the charts.
Yikes.

It felt like a first draft that hasn’t been edited at all. there were soo many grammatical mistakes that they just pulled me out of the story. and that was really sad cause i was really excited about the premise. i also didn’t liked that the mmc was referred to as ‘the orc’ or ‘the man’ even towards the end of the book, and the dog Pepper was referred to as ‘the dog, that dog’ even by the owner, aka our mmc. and that made the story feel cold and distant.
I loved that our heroine was strong and powerful tho and she really carried this story on her back fr.

Cool premise, terrible writing
Love the premise, but the writing was so bad. The language was awkwardly formal and stilted. The whole thing moved too quickly and there was no buildup to make the relationship even slightly believable.

3⭐️ I was so excited for this little novella, and it was just kinda…mid. The storyline was cute but the writing was a little bit weird and rushed at times (even for a novella). The spice was also minimal.

First of all- who is rating this five stars?!? All of the cheesiness aside, the writing is terrible. It reads like something AI wrote after being fed nothing but Hallmark movies and orc lore. The only reason I finished it was because it was short and so bad it was stupidly funny.
The dialogue in this book is nearly unbearable. I’m including the characters internal monologue in that as well. What I’m saying is the whole book is nearly unbearable. People don’t talk like this. It made me wonder if the author has ever heard a human conversation. There is way too much exposition in almost every statement. No one should explain every step of their thought process leading up to a simple decision like eating beef stew.
I hated every character. They’re all toxic. FMC is a stalker and a pick me/borderline toxic trad wife. MMC is a stalker. FMCs best friend has zero respect for her friends boundaries. The other male character who creates the worlds weakest love triangle is also a stalker who has no regard for social norms. You don’t text someone, then immediately call them, show up to their job when they don’t answer either, and then show up to their house when they blow you off at their workplace. Straight to jail.
You never need two epilogues for different time jumps. Just write all the details into one. The first one is going to be a pointless stepping stone. Readers can figure out what happened earlier if you have one well written epilogue for a further time in the future.

So I had a nice funny review I made a mistake and deleted. This was an extremely cute start to a series. I just downloaded book 2.
Solid, 3.5 star ⭐️ read I deducted a half point because I have recently become obsessed with orc mating and this had no knotting. But the on page sex was very sweet and passionate so that was a plus.
I will definitely give this author another read.

This read very ‘young’. As in the author is young and hasn’t lived long enough or this is their debut and hasn’t found their writing style yet. It was almost a step-by-step ‘what is your favourite trope’ chain of events.
But at least I finished it, which is more than I can say of other stories that are better written but I’m very bored while reading it.

The writing is terrible. I felt like I was reading a high school freshmen's creative writing story. It was so robotic and flat.
I've tried to read a few books by this author, and I think I've dnfed them all. From here on out I will remember not to waste my time.

Well I guess if you’re going to have a crazy stalker type FMC you might as well stick them with a possessive orc, right? This book was not nearly as spicy as I thought it would be. It was a cute story about acceptance for who you are and really baby hungry people. And orcs that have a long history of stealing human women and are now “modernized”.

I was in the mood for ridiculous, sappy, sweetness. It pretty much hit that mark.
Sadly, it needed another couple runs through an editor. It’s not well written, there are a good amount of typos, grammatical errors, and repetitiveness.

The cutest little Valentine monster novella. All in all, a cozy read with little angst. A romance that results to the building of a family (🧟♂️+👩💼=👨👩👦👦) with the plot lacking nothing when compared to full novels.
