Gah!!! What a story!! From beginning to end, I was sucked into Kyle and Addison's beautiful love story. It was not an easy road but it was worth all the angst and heartbreak to get to the last page. Tears will be shed, though I can't decide if they're more happy or bittersweet tears. Probably both. I didn't want it to end. Kyle's voice was so perfect and strong and I loved being in his head the whole way through. I'm so glad I read it and got to experience their young love and then when they're adults, after everything happened. Their love story is one not to be missed.
I also loved just about every character; especially Kevin and Ashley. What a great group of friends and family. They all brought something to the story. However, my favorite was Kyle. He was definitely an amazing hero. I loved everything about him and put him in my new book boyfriend list, because he was sexy and sweet and wasn't afraid to go after what he wanted. He was also thoughtful and romantic. I couldn't help but fall for him. You will too. I highly recommend this book to all my romance junkies!!!

I started out really liking this book. In fact, I really enjoyed the prologue. I found the heroine, Addison, to be feisty and charming and the hero, Kyle, a little bumbling but in a sweet, heartfelt way. The chemistry between them was sweet. They were cute together. Unfortunately, the prologue ended with her disappearing, only to show up 8 years later.

I was really on the fence about what happened with the rest of the story. Because of how the story started, I was already cheering for them, but eventually there were just aspects of the story I couldn't get past.

First, the mystery was solved when it turns out that Addison didn't disappear because of going into witness protection or having amnesia. Instead, she survived a plane crash, but was in a coma for 9 months. After she woke up, she had to undergo a lot of rehabilitation.

It was understandable why she didn't reach out right away, However, when she had a chance 2 years later she opted not to. Granted, she saw him kissing another girl; but given that all this time, he never knew what happened to her, she owed at least him an explanation.

When they finally do meet again, she's married and because she still cares about him, she asks if they can still be friends. Unfortunately, there are instances where she's really sending him mixed messages. I don't think Kyle knew whether he's coming or going, but then his judgement wasn't that great either.

Then she gets pregnant by her husband, Derek, and didn't seem to understand why Kyle was having difficulty wanting to be friends with her. Doesn't she have a clue? She eventually does have a miscarriage.

This pregnancy leads Kyle to becoming friends with benefits with his ex-girlfriend, Jen. Personally, I think the only purpose of that was to eventually make it even more clear what a louse, Addison's husband was. It turns out that Derek, was having a relationship with Jen, but under a different name.

Throughout the book and before the situation with Jen, there were already hints (and then bombs) being dropped that Derek wasn't such a nice guy, even though he was originally her physical therapist and played a important part in her recovery. It's almost like they needed to paint Derek as the bad guy as a reason for her to leave him. After all, if he was a good guy, leaving him might not reflect well on her.

As for Kyle, knowing his feelings for her and the fact that she's married, I don't think it was right for him (as well as not smart) to put himself in intimate one-to-one situations with her. While they may have not slept together, they were still re-building a type of emotional connection that was not appropriate at that time.

And giving Addison the space to open up her dance studio also seemed disrespectful. Regardless of what was happening with Addison's marriage, it's no small thing to give something so big to an ex-girlfriend. If I had been Derek, I would have been upset.

Eventually, Addison and Kyle get their HEA, but by that time, I didn't care for either of them that much.

***ARC Given to Me for honest review***

We first meet Kyle, one of the main characters in Sara Mack' s New novel, Sparrow when he's 16 years old. He's visiting his Gram' s cottage on Buhl Lake. Kyle and his brother, Kevin go to Buhl Lake during their summers to help their Gram with chores. Summers at Buhl Lake have become boring for the two; now that they're teenagers, girls would be a pleasant distraction. Enter Kyle's "mystery girl" whom he notices while fishing one day. She's swimming next door with two other girls. Kyle's brother is insistent that he go talk to her. Kyle's never been shy when it comes to girls but this one, she's different somehow. He continues to watch her from afar until a chance meeting on a wooded trail has Kyle face to face with his "mystery girl." Addison Parks. She's gorgeous, feisty, sarcastic, and bold.

She meets my eyes without a hint of shyness. "I've been waiting for you to make your move."

To Kyle's disappointment, he finds out Addison is leaving the Lake within minutes.

She faces me again and flashes a smile. "don't be a stranger next summer."

The following summer, we meet Kyle and Addison back at Buhl Lake. The two become inseparable, falling more for one another as the summer goes on. Nights are spent sharing their dreams, telling each other secrets, and what they wish for each others future-knowing each will be play a huge role in their future lives.
On Kyle's last night at Buhl Lake, Addison expresses her fears that he'll forget about her. In his heart of hearts, Kyle knows he could never forget Addison Parks. The two will be reunited in two weeks.

"don't say you love me"
"why not?"
"Save it, I want those words to be the first words out of your mouth when I see you again."

But that doesn't happen, Addison seems to have vanished without a trace when Kyle gets to her house. Questions are left unanswered. Kyle is left to wonder if the summer they shared was all a lie.
Sparrow is told from Kyle's POV. It's a story about falling in love for the first time, sharing your forever moment, and experiencing all the wonderful emotions of young love. It's also about loss, confusion, and questioning what you thought was real. Sara Mack did a wonderful job writing this novel. It takes great talent for an author to write a book from a male' s POV and she nailed it brilliantly. Sparrow was a roller coaster, just when you thought things were ok, another twist came. Ms. Mack keeps you on your toes throughout the whole story. Very well done.

I was thinking about rating it 5 stars but I think the last few chapters weren't really much necessary.

When I started reading the book I didn't thought I would like Sparrow so much. But as it continued I absolutely loved her. This story had many moments. The moments which makes you laugh, some makes you smile, some makes you cry. There were moments which let you thinking. When I was half way through I thought kyle should move on and I regret even thinking about it but it's not my mistake. It's so beautifully written, the way things go for kyle the pain and his heartache will make you feel it too.

I really loved it. I am not sure why it didn't made it to the best Sellers list. I hope it will reach the public and will get the place it deserves.

I am conflicted with this book. I love Sara Mack's writing and her fun storyline but Sparrow I had a hard time connecting to the characters in this one.

The story is told in the POV of Kyle from the age of 16 to the current age of 25. Kyle spends every summer since he was a young child with his grandparents at the Lake. Every year it's just him and his brother but the summer he was 16 he met Addison. Her family just purchased a lake house and he falls in love at first sight. The two connect instantly and the following summer meet up again but this time they fall in love. They promise to see each other after summer but when Kyle meets Addison at the specific time she doesn't show up and her phone is disconnected. Kyle is heartbroken and has no idea how to find Addison. He never gets over her or falls in love again but now at 25 Addison walks back into Kyle's life.

I really liked Kyle and felt really heartbroken for him. The love of his young life just vanishes and he never was able to get over her or find out what happened to her. However I wasn't a fan of Addison. I was mad at her. Yes she has a very good excuse on her reason on what happened but I feel as time passed she used that as an excuse not to be with Kyle. I enjoyed the storyline but I felt everything/everyone was just to connected. They must have lived in like the SMALLEST town every to have that many connections between a group of people.

Sparrow missed the mark for me but I think if you enjoy second chance romance novels you should give this one a try! Sara Mack is a wonderful author! :)

I give Sparrow 3 stars.

ARC given for honest review. Kyle. Addison. Kyle. Sparrow. I loved this book!! From start to finish I was mesmerized by this story, the love between two people can always stand the test of time if it is TRUE LOVE. I don't like to give spoilers when I do reviews. But the merry-go-round my emotions went on had me having to put the book down at times and walk away. Thank you once again Sara Mack for pulling me right into this story and falling in love with the characters.

I'm an author. I was in a writing funk. I couldn't wrap my mind around words, UNTIL this book. I found my inspiration through this book, my feelings of writing came back to me.

I loved this story. Second Chances do exist. Fate does exist. And Karma comes around every once in a while.

There were ups and downs, heartbreaks, angst, sadness, and I was rooting for them from the first word. Sometime's there's only one true love.

This book is truly amazing. For those of you who are familiar with Sara Mack’s Guardian trilogy this work is unlike her earlier books, Sparrow took a completely different direction. I wasn’t really sure what to expect, but I was completely blown away. It is incredibly difficult to write this review without giving too much of the story away. Sparrow is a standalone contemporary romance/new adult novel very different from the paranormal Guardian trilogy. However, this book displays Sara Mack’s multifaceted talent as a writer. I fell in love with this story and absorbed it like a sponge. This book makes you feel, it makes you ache for a love that comes along once in a lifetime. It makes you question every obstacle, every situation and every path you take to find your way along life’s often confusing journey. It makes you believe in a love that is so powerful it can withstand the test of time.

Kyle and Addison meet while they are teenagers at Buhl Lake. They are inseparable and develop a bond that seems unbreakable. The love these two have for one another as teenagers is incredibly moving. We watch the love between these two grow and expect a promising future. But then Addison disappears without a trace and Kyle is devastated…I was devastated. How could she vanish? Eight years later Kyle finally learns the truth, but can he deal with the many challenges life has thrown his way and will he be able to forgive, move forward, and most of all find happiness.

Kyle is an incredibly complex character. His story is often painful and you feel for him as though you are experiencing his loss, his pain, his love. His struggles and those of the other characters are often things someone can relate to in one way or another. I love the way the story grabs the reader’s attention and at times will have you holding your breath. I feel such a strong love for Kyle and I loved that the book is in his POV. I mean come on, who doesn’t love a good male protagonist? Although I’d love to delve into my feelings on Addison I’ll leave it up to you to decide how you feel about her. My fear is that if I did, it would just give away too much. Let’s just say I did ultimately love her character, she struggled as much as Kyle, but her battles were different in some ways. I’d love to read her perspective on many of the events that occurred in Sparrow. That would be interesting…wink, wink SARA….Ahem, not pressuring you or anything haha.

What I truly loved about this book is that the characters have depth, you can relate to them and you take the emotional journey with them. You will find yourself hopeful that things will find a way to right themselves. It also makes you think, I mean serious life altering thoughts. I found myself wondering what I would do if I were in Kyle’s shoes or Addison’s, for that matter. Sparrow is well written and Sara Mack intrigues you with complex issues coupled with raw emotions and unpredictable outcomes. This is a beautiful story and I highly recommend this book to all readers. You won’t regret it.

ARC provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.
Sparrow by Sara Mack is a coming of age story of first love, lost love, picking up the pieces, and finding that first love again.
In the beginning we meet Kyle, a young man of 16 who is spending summer at his Grandma’s cottage in northern Michigan, along with his younger brother Kevin. After years of spending summer on the lake, they are starting to grow bored with their surroundings, this particular summer brings 3 young ladies to the lake. Kyle is mesmerized by one, but has not got up the nerve to go speak with her. On a quad ride he stumbles upon his mystery girl, she is searching for her lost dog, Sam. It’s then that Kyle learns she is leaving that day. Their exchange is somewhat snarky, but mystery girl introduces herself as Addison Parks. She lets Kyle know that she is aware that Kyle has been watching her and would like to know why he hasn't made a move. They part ways, but Addison tells Kyle “Don’t be a stranger next summer”
The story continues the following summer where Kyle and Addison grow much closer. They share all their wishes, and dreams for the future. They spend as much time together as possible, and they discuss continuing their relationship after summer ends. They learn that they live with an hour of one another, and makes plans to meet up Labor Day weekend. Labor Day weekend comes and from the texts and phone calls both are very excited about seeing one another. The day comes and Kyle could'nt be happier. He shows up at Addison’s house and she is nowhere to be found, nor is her family. The only person home is Sam their dog. Kyle waits around and no one every shows up. Devastated he heads back home. He keeps trying to reach Addison, but is unsuccessful. He returns to her house days later only to find that Sam is now gone.
Fast forward a bit into the future and we now meet Kyle as an adult. He has commitment issues, and can’t really settle down with anyone.
This story is told from the male perspective. It’s a sweet, honest, and a bit heartbreaking love story. It’s about meeting your first love, falling madly in love, having your heart broken and questioning if it was ever real, to finding that love again.
There are so many ups and downs with this story, it all feels very realistic and has a happy ever after ending. Kyle is just a normal down to earth young man, and Addison is a feisty, tell you like it is young lady.

I can only hope that Sara writes more about these wonderful characters in the future.

This is a story about lost love that’s found again. It’s a story about how life can get in the way and how, sometimes, it can lead you back to where you belong. Kyle and Addison meet as teenagers and experience a unique connection. They fall in love. Unfortunately, the universe has other ideas about what their lives should be and, without warning, they’re torn apart. Many years later, their paths cross again and they find that their connection is still strong. However, their lives are not the same as they were when they lost each other and, now, deciding what to do about that connection is more difficult…and there’s certainly more at stake.

This was a well-written book with characters that I enjoyed learning about. They’re both strong characters who have embraced life after their separation. And each has moved on differently in the 8 years they were apart. Kyle has trouble committing to anyone, fearing once again losing someone he loves, whereas Addison is now married. This is where the story begins to run along a fine line…attraction, chemistry, history, and love…juxtaposed against commitment and, ultimately, fidelity. I think the author handled this story with the kid gloves it deserves and, therefore, provided the reader with what we needed without asking us to make a decision between right and wrong. I know that this may not make sense to you right now, but once you’ve read it, I know you’ll understand what I’m alluding to. I believed strongly in the love story between Kyle and Addison and the author made it easy for me to feel comfortable encouraging that love to blossom.

There were some unexpected moments and that added to the storyline, making it about more than just their romance. I loved that this was told from Kyle’s point of view. It’s rare that a book such as this one is written from the male POV and this was very successfully done. I enjoyed hearing his thoughts and hearing his inner monologue throughout. The secondary characters were well developed making it a well rounded story and the plot flowed seamlessly to a great conclusion. Ultimately, this was a book about the heart wanting what it wants and about how sometimes we have to make decisions that seem completely impossible. But if you believe in fate and if you believe in romance, then I think that this story is for you!

First thank you to Sara Mack for providing an ARC of sparrow to read and review.

Sparrow tells the love story of Kyle and Addison. After meeting at the lake when they were sixteen both feel a connection that transcends time. But after a lovely summer together everything ends abruptly. Kyle's world is turned upside down and he lives his life wondering what happened with Addison.

Years later when Kyle and Addison are brought together by certain circumstances, Kyle is adamant to get the answers to the questions he has had for a long time. When those questions are answered and a friendship is formed the story takes a turn. What starts as a friendship turns into so much more and eventually they must face reality. As adults they have to face the reality of the screwed up situation they are in and the fire they are playing with.

As an avid fan of Sara, I wish I could rate this higher and say that I obsessed over Kyle and Addison's story. Sadly, I cannot. I thought their story was sweet. They fell in love and never fell out of it. They had a few "bumps" in the road but those were solved pretty neatly. My issue wasn't with the story itself but with the disconnect with the characters. I didn't feel any connection to Kyle or Addison and wasn't immersed in their story like I wish I could have been.

Surprisingly, I found myself more interested in the secondary characters lives, then in the protags. I think Sara did a wonderful job of providing a little background for her secondary characters in the book. I was particularly interested in Jen and look forward to maybe reading more about her.

Overall, Sparrow was a good read. Although I'm rating this 3 stars, I would recommend this book to anyone that wants a sweet and light read.

Also, if you haven't checked out Sara's Guardian series, I recommend you do.

HAPPY READING!

How do you write a review without it giving anything away. This book by Sara Mack was great, and I would like to say thank you for thinking of me when you sent it out. I have read the other writings of hers and the way she tells the story gets you sucked right in and will not let you go. This book is no exception to that theory.

In this book we meet a teenager by the name of Kyle that spends his time during the summer with his Gram. Nothing exciting ever happens during these visits until the one summer  when a girl named Addison came into his life. Is there such thing as love at first sight? Well there could be but what about when you are 17 years old. Can you find that one person that just takes your breath away? Can it just be a summer fling? What happens when summer is over do you just go back to your normal days life and forget what happened?

But what if something happens and you go to see the one person that you met and fell in love with just disappears like she was never there. What do you do then? Did fate just play a dirty trick on you and your mind just made up the whole summer?  Oh fate what a dirty bastard that you are.

But wait fate is going to play even dirtier, lets say many years down the road and you see that one person that you thought was gone. Is it a ghost of your imagination, or is this real?

This book is awesome. If you want to know the answers to these question then you need to get this book and get ready to start turning pages because you will not be disappointed one bit. THIS HAS TO GO ON YOU TBR LIST….

Thank you Sara for another wonderful book and for making me fall in love with your writing even more.

I give this book 5 stars.

It's been a while since I've been unable to put a book down, but that was my experience with SPARROW.

I first opened it late one night, intending to read a page or two before going to bed. Two hours later I finally forced myself to stop and sleep!

Sara Mack has written a beautiful love story about interesting young people with whom I instantly connected. I read very little NA because melodrama and narcissism don't appeal to me (I have teenage daughters, so I get enough of that in real life), but Mack's characters aren't cookie-cutter types. They have depth and feel real. They're people I'd be happy to know.

Not only does Ms. Mack write beautifully, this story is written in a very convincing male first-person POV. Writing out of gender takes great skill for chapter-long bursts -- yet, Ms. Mack pulled it off for the duration of this entire book. (Okay, I'll admit it. I was crushing on Kyle. So will you.)

There is certainly drama in this story, but it's *real* drama, not forced or caused by a decision no real person would ever make. (Are you getting a sense of my pet peeves, here? LOL...) The story and relationships build organically, so we never see the author's hand working the strings. The ending was both satisfying and unpredictable, which is the goal of every great writer I know.

SPARROW is sweet, sexy, funny and romantic. I can't wait to see what Ms. Mack writes next. One thing's for sure -- her GUARDIAN series has just moved to the top of my TBR.

WOW, what a story!!! I must admit this is the first book I have read by this author, in fact, I had never heard of this author until she sent a message asking if I was interested in reading and reviewing Sparrow. The blurb sounded pretty good, but I really was not blown away by the blurb. HOWEVER, I started reading and could not put it down. I can honestly say by the end of the book I was BLOWN AWAY!!! The writing was flawless. The story was told in such a way that I literally felt every single emotion Kyle and Addison had. I laughed and cried. I also really loved that the story was told in Kyle's POV. At first I wasn't sure I would like the whole book being in his perspective, but once again I was blown away by this author. I absolutely love that this book is a true testament to TRUE LOVE!! This author has definitely moved to the top of my favorite list. I'm normally not a paranormal reader, but I went out and bought her paranormal series to read next because I absolutely adored her writing. I think every single person should read this book. This is a MUST READ!!!! There aren't enough stars to give this book!! It really is that good!!

I absolutely loved this book. It has been on my kindle forever, and I kept putting it off, because I ad so many ARC's and part of series to finish. Well that was a damn shame because this book was to good to have left unread all this time. LoL

I enjoyed all the characters, the story line, the writing, and the love that was given into this book.

Of course I think Kyle is Hot as hell, amazing, perfect, and so on and so on. He is what any woman would want to go home to.
Addison was also awesome, she was perfect.
Together they were inseparable. A couple you would surely be jealous of.
Derek, well he is an ass, and I knew that from the time he was first mentioned in the book.

I also enjoyed Kevin and Ashley, they were great.
Jenn was pretty kool as well, thanks to her quick thinking, the encounters weren't awkward.
I also loved Gram and Mr. Grant. He followed through well with his promises to Gram.

All in all it was a great book. I can go on all day telling you about each little thing I enjoyed about it. But I am sure you got what I wrote so far. lol

This is a book for any book lover to read. Of course I could and would loved it if it would have went even longer, but that's only because I am greedy and can't ever get enough.

This is the first book I have read by Sara Mack and I loved it, it was difficult to put down I just kept needing to know what would happen next.
Kyle and Addison meet one summer, after spending every waking minute together they both fall hard for each other, when the summer comes to an end they arrange to meet up back home 2 weeks later only when Kyle turns up on Addison's doorstep there is no one home. Addison and her family have just disappeared.
Fast forward 8 years and who should Kyle see but Addison, she explains what happened all those years ago but things have changed dramatically in both their lives will they be able to find their way back to each other? Will true prevail?
An amazing 5 star read about 2nd chance love and one I'll definitely be recommending.

I was hooked from the start! Young love never truly dies completely.although time passes and feelings change you always have that first true love one never forgets. Kyle learns first hand what life has in store for him even 8 years after his heart was shattered and he had moved on in life. A family tragedy brings him back to the first place he found true love, wrong place hmm maybe wrong girl nope never, but she's with the wrong guy. The fight begins to find the love they once shared. Through the turns and twists does Kyle win over his true love for the second time?
This is a must read!

This was my first Sara Mack book and I absolutely loved it!! Give me a second chance romance book without a cliffhanger and that is my all time favorite kind of book....and Sparrow was exactly that. This stand alone book had a great storyline with tons of twists and turns that had me hooked from the beginning. The characters had lots of chemistry and you actually seen them grow up right before your eyes. I would absolutely recommend this read.....you won't be disappointed!!!

This was a great romance and I enjoyed reading about Addison and Kyle. They were very sweet kids who fell in love when they were seventeen. Then Addison disappears mysteriously without a trace and Kyle is forced to move on. Then he sees Addison again and discovers why she disappeared and all of his feelings come back. The problem is that Addison is now married. I wasn't sure how I would feel about the love triangle portion of this, but I loved that there was NO cheating with Addison and Kyle. Even though they had feelings for each other, they refused to actually act on them as long as she was with her husband and that was awesome. I just wish that Derek wasn't made into such an asshole in order for them to be together. Couldn't they have made a love triangle with likable characters? Then maybe the book would have been slightly less predictable. There were a few times when I could understand why Derek was acting like an ass. If my husband were making goo goo eyes at some other woman, I would probably hate her too. Also, they could have done without the miscarriage storyline. I knew as soon as she was pregnant, that it would end in a miscarriage so Addison and Kyle could be together with no strings. Anyway, I still thought they had a great romance and I enjoyed reading their story and I thought they had great chemistry. Great read.

Jaymee's Review

5 Stars

Sparrow is a stand alone romance novel by Sara Mack and it was absolutely wonderful from start to finish! I really needed a book like this to help restore my faith in love and fate. This one really pulls at you heartstrings, it is a story of lost love and heartbreak but it is also a story of second chances. If you ever had any doubts that young love could be true love than this book will change your mind, I've never read about a love as deep or real as the love between Kyle and Addison and they were only seventeen. A summer romance of two young lovers who had that forever moment we all want to experience only forever doesn't happen, Addison literally disappeared off the face of the earth. The book starts off with the past, telling us the story of how they met, how they fell in love and then how Addison was never heard from again. Fast forward eight years and Kyle is still destroyed by the girl who had held his heart, he finally returns to the lake where they had spent that fateful summer where he finally finds out the truth. She is very much alive and hadn't willingly disappeared however quite a bit has changed over those eight years, can they be friends? Is their love still alive? Will they be ripped apart by circumstances beyond their control? I can't say exactly how things turn out, you'll have to read it and see but trust me, this is a must read!

This novel is an emotional roller coaster that will build you up, warm your heart and then rip you apart. Kyle really affected me, he was such a sweet, loving, wonderful young man but when Addison left it destroyed him. He closed himself off and couldn't let go of the past, he loved her so deeply he couldn't get over her. I shed more than a few tears for him because he deserved so much more! While I loved Addison very much there was one thing she did that made me so angry, I understood the reasoning but I really felt like things could have turned out much differently for these two characters! Things are complicated after she returns, circumstances won't allow the two of them to be together so they try to make a friendship work. The author really pulled me into the tension between these two, I could literally feel the awkwardness, the longing, the confusion and the desire that coursed between them.

Sara Mack created amazing characters that everyone will be able to identify with and emotions that we have all experienced. Who hasn't had a lost love or loved someone they couldn't be with? This story really pulls you in emotionally so be prepared! Every character in this book is amazing and I loved them, they all felt so real that I couldn't help but be sucked into their lives. Sara also delivers quite a few surprising revelations that I never expected! I was riveted to this story from the very beginning, the author's writing style, the characters, the emotions and the killer plot line had me up way past my bed time to finish it! I guarantee I will read more by this author!
