Son of Pan: The Journals of Pan Series Book Two

Rate this book
The nightmares are back — and they’ve missed you.

Peter is cracking.
Maya is lost.
Finn is polluted.
Evangeline is heartless...
And Crow — son of Pan — is alive.

After their king sacrificed his life and the dying Paragon’s new 'Messiah' arrived, peace was meant to be forged. But in his wake, mayhem spills across the realms — both hidden and seen — engulfing Neverland, the Peculiars and their domain, Corporeals, and everything around them in vicious peril. The nightmares are no longer confined to Pan's mind; they’ve spilled into the world, leaving destruction, madness, and betrayal in their shadows. And when the Shaedrym forces of the Umbraic kingdom unleash their horrors, all hell breaks loose. Literally.

Those we know — those we love — may crash like Lucifer, torn from grace... but the war? The war has only just begun. Every choice drips with consequence. Every soul hangs by a thread. Every kiss tastes like betrayal. Everything is a lie — but the truth is worse. In this epically deranged tale, one creed must be kept in “Perception is leverage. Fantasy is gospel. Reality is forged.”

The realms are fractured illusions, and everyone is lost in the fight for their own sanity. They say dreams are just nightmares sprinkled with dust... but what if memories are just nightmares masquerading as happy thoughts?

Whose side are you on?

Wickedly witty, unhinged, and packed cover to cover with sinister, evocative fantasy, Son of Pan continues the gripping saga from I Prefer Peter, picking up after the jaw-dropping cliffhanger and plunging you into the next chapter of how a broken boy learns to fly.

The cursed Journals of Pan saga spirals onward.
Can you see it through? Or will you burn with the rest? Be careful what you wish for.

Hey! Before you read...

((ARC REVIEW))

If you thought I Prefer Peter was intense, Son of Pan will absolutely wreck you—in the best way. This book is darker, deeper, and so much more emotionally charged. It throws you headfirst into a twisted legacy full of magic, secrets, and characters so vivid you’ll swear they’re real.

This is not a story that holds your hand. It grabs you. And once you’re in, you’re in. The world is brutal. The choices are crazy. And the emotions are very, very real.

Mia Battaglia takes everything you thought you knew about this universe and flips it on its head. Whether you’re in it for the magic, the heartbreak, or the messy relationships—this one delivers. And it doesn’t just deliver. It destroys.

If you are at all thinking about reading this series I highly recommend it. As always make sure to check the trigger warnings and put your mental health first, but if you are able to I highly recommend everyone read it. You do not need to be a fan of Peter Pan to enjoy it, I promise you it will be well worth the read.

5 stars. Without a doubt. I’m so honored I got to be a part of the ARC team. Thank you to Mia and my fellow ARC and BETA Readers. I’m so glad I get to be a part of this Journals of Pan family ❤️

SPOILERISH THOUGHTS BELOW! IF YOU WANT TO GO IN BLIND, DON’T KEEP READING! YOU’VE BEEN WARNED

This book? Devastating.

There’s no other word. I finished it and sat there in silence. Maya’s amnesia, Crow’s chaos, Peter’s grief, and Finn’s heartbreak—it all tore through me.

Crow is an instant favorite. Peter’s arc is tragic and tender. And Finn… his fall hurt more than anything. Every twist, every betrayal, every lost moment—it earned the pain.

Mia Battaglia crafted something brutal and unforgettable. And the epilogue? I’ll be screaming about it until the next book drops. 💫

4.55/5

Nightmares have escaped into the real world, bringing chaos to every realm. Peter is falling apart, Maya is missing, Finn is corrupted, and Evangeline has lost her heart, yet Crow, the son of Pan, is alive.
After the king’s sacrifice and the rise of a new “Messiah,” peace was expected. Instead, destruction spreads through Neverland and beyond. The nightmares once trapped in Pan’s mind now ravage everything, and when the dark Shaedrym forces strike, total war erupts. No one can trust their memories, their allies, or even their own sanity.
This dark, twisted fantasy continues the story from I Prefer Peter, following the aftermath of the previous cliffhanger as a broken boy tries to survive, and maybe learn to fly. Every choice has dire consequences, and the line between truth and illusion keeps crumbling.

REVIEW:
Imma be honest, probably would’ve given this book a 5/5 if it wasn’t for my friend spoiling it for me. This book gives Once Upon a Time vibes, and honestly - couldn’t get that out of my head the entire time reading this.

Just like the first book, the last 50 pages literally had me crying. Mia really knows how to hook you in, pun intended.

CHARACTERS:

PETER:
ugh, chefs kiss man. Never disappoints me.

DELBITCHIAN:
I cant stand this man. He once was my lover (from the first book), now he’s the ex I wish gets a paper cut on his tongue.

MAYA:
Honestly, still don’t like her.

EVANGELINE:
Again, still can’t stand this woman.

C R O W:
UGH. MY BOY. AGAIN, CAN DO NO WRONG.
I felt so bad for this kid, literally didn’t ask for any of what happened to him, and his witty remarks had me cackling on the ground.

FAVORITE QUOTES:

“FAte’s A BitCH, anD iM her FAVORITE”

“He’s not my kid.” “Oh, you bet your sweet, divine cum he is, pal.
^AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

“fuck, man. Whoever said the ‘ sticks and stones’ bullshit was mad off.

“You were my sunrise to sunset,”

“Don’t Judas me, got that? My back has been stabbed one too many times.”

Well, fuck me with my own hook.

“You’re cute when you beg. It’s a shame you’re straight.”

“I always knew you’d taste fucking sublime.”
^ you know, for me not being able to stand this man for this book, man really had me hootin and hollering.

Son Of Pan Ya'll ain't ready. Trust me on that. I reread I Prefer Peter in preparation and anticipation for Son of Pan thinking since I am all caught up with the adventure in I Prefer Peter that I was ready for the adventure that awaited in Son of Pan. I was completely totally and utterly wrong. The ride that Mia took us on in I Prefer Peter was just a tiny glimpse of the ride we get taken on in Son of Pan. There is intrigue, love, heart break, betrayal, pain, joy, feeling lost then being found, friendships broken, reunions, and maybe just maybe a villain becoming a hero or visa versa. I wasn't expecting the journey each character takes in this story but in the end the characters ended right where they were meant to. I know this book hasn’t been released yet but it was so incredibly amazing that I can't what to see where the story goes in the next installment. Way to go Mia
I can't wait until this is released into the world so it can get all the love and respect it deserves.

You need to read I Prefer Peter to
understand whats happening in Son of Pan.
Son of Pan comes out May 9th. So run don't walk to get your copy of I Prefer Peter: I highly suggest immersive reading | Prefer Peter because Mia narrates the audio herself and it’s outstanding because she has a different voice for each of the characters.

This book took me a little while to get into. Though I slammed through the first novel and anxiously begged for the second, I found myself struggling to grasp the timeline and the events happening in the beginning of the book. I later discovered that my slowness to start was due to the lack of Mia’s gracious character voices bringing the words to life. I found that I missed the audiobook.

That being said, after making my realization, I journeyed deeper into the book. And wouldn’t you know it, it got better. The romance sparked to life, the characters grew more in depth, and the world began to materialize around me. The author is great at creating characters you want to fall for and worlds you want to live in.

Finn will forever be a favorite of mine but Crow started to grow on me. I found I HATED Peter in this book, but you’re not exactly meant to love him for the actions he presents in this book. Maya fell flat to me in this book, but it wasn’t about her so it’s okay.

All in all, I kinda wish there had been more action in this novel. I did feel like it wasn’t as intense as it could have been. The villains weren’t dark enough and it felt a little too…. Easy? Would love to see more suspense in the next book.

Also….. I’m so mad at you for my guy Finn and you know what I’m talking about.

I have never read a Neverland story quite like this, and I absolutely love it. Yet again, like I said with I Prefer Peter, I recommend the author annotated version. Getting to be inside Battaglia’s head and understand why she wrote certain things and her personal connections just make this even more enjoyable.

That cliffhanger in I Prefer Peter was brutal, so Son of Pan picks up where it ended. The details surrounding Crow are very intriguing, and learning certain things I can’t share without spoiling have me NEEDING the next book to see his story continue. Hook? Smee? Never been written like this before and I’m obsessed with it.

Maya’s fate and Peter’s destiny? FINNEAS? I finished this hours ago and writing a spoiler free review is hard. So damn hard.

I’m struggling with rating this one.
The beginning and end? Absolutely 5 star. A chunk of the middle was 3.5-4; I love these characters and this story but I struggled some. It was all necessary, but it was very information heavy in between the action.

Ahhhh!!!! That was like riding a roller coaster! Book two picks up right where book one ends and takes us on a journey through hope in the midst of hopelessness! I couldn’t get enough as I cried, laughed, gasped and screamed and even yelled a time or two. I was trying to wait for the audiobook but I simply couldn’t wait any longer. She has done incredible work and I can’t say enough good things about it.
