Mary Campisi is the author of over 40 emotion-packed novels that center around hope, redemption, and second chances.
Mary should have known she'd become a writer when at age thirteen she began changing the ending to all the books she read. It took several years and a number of jobs, including registered nurse, receptionist in a swanky hair salon, accounts payable clerk, and practice manager in an OB/GYN office, for her to rediscover writing. Enter a mouse-less computer, a floppy disk, and a dream large enough to fill a zip drive. The rest of the story lives on in every book she writes.
When she's not working on her craft or following the lives of five adult children, Mary's digging in the dirt with her flowers and herbs, cooking, reading, walking her rescue lab, Henry, or, on the perfect day, riding off into the sunset with her very own hero/husband on his Ultra Limited aka Harley.

Mary Campisi again YOU ROCK
Pop leaving Magdelena!! Who would ever dream of such a thing!! Oh no!! The town would never be the same. Hmmmm, that's what Pop's estranged son has in mind. But will the town folk Pop always stays up for leave his fate to his estranged son. You can bet your last pizelle it ain't gonna happen!! And throw in a little help from mother nature and Pop's dear friend, Harry Blacksworth (who would have ever thunk it...you have to know Harry to know why this sounds so strange (lol)) who hosts the town folk at his newly built mansion, this is one story you don't want to miss.
It's Christmas time in Magdelena and you'll love it! So snuggle in with a good blanket and cup of coffee/tea, and some pizelles if you have any, and journey through Magdelena. There's more heartache, secrets, misunderstandings, more communing with departed, and more second chances.
There's such a sense of belonging, family, and what it all means to come together; and more importantly, you really get a sense of understanding 'second chances,' and how it can impact and change the trajectory of someone's life or so many lives, as is the case in Magdalena.
Tony, Lucy, and Ramona... Fresh Beginnings! 3.25***** Spoiler Alert
Lucy, Pop Benito's granddaughter has dropped out of college, and started to live with him in Magdalena, NY, pregnant and unbeknownst to her dad, sweet talking, rich, Tony, and Pop's only son, who has lost his way in life in his pursuit of The greenback. The town folks are there to protect Lucy and Pop's, from Tony forcing them back to CA. The town , including Ramona, once Tony's heart throb, spent Christmas in a blackout, huddled together for warmth, in Harry's mansion, while waiting for power to return. Lily once again shows Tony how lucky he is, and he tries to reconnect with his daughter, dad, and ex-lover. Maybe a HEA!
An okay novella, with the heart strings pulled as Ramona tells Miriam of her domestic abuse and the loss of her fetus. Don't judge people until you walk in their shoes and know their pain. There is hope for second chances and new beginning! A quick read!!
Christmas is the tradition of family, love, forgiveness, healing, celebrating, and togetherness. In Magdalena, it is also a chance to bring the town together in the name of friendship and family.
When the electricity in the town goes.out, many challenges arise. But as a community all things, or most, can be overcome.
There truths from the past that are suddenly brought forth. Truths from the present that are suddenly realized and are bringing about change....hopefully. But in every truth and change there is always support from the town and its community members.
More changes abound. Be sure to read "Second Chance: Simple Riches," before " Family Affair: Winter".
Though there was a large section of the book (at the end) promoting other books by the author, I enjoyed the story as it was told. I got to know some of the residents a little better and am now looking forward to exploring a relationship I never would have imagined had taken place, yet hope it can pick up where it left off.
All in all, I continue to enjoy how the residents of Magdalena stand up for their own - watching out for them, speaking up when necessary and remaining quiet at other times to see how things unfold before intervening.
I look forward to the next instalment of the story and hope it won't be too long before it's released.
These would be good stories if it weren't for the author's unexplainable need to retell each character's backstory from the previous books...in EVERY subsequent book. We're told the same information over and over. I kept hoping that she'd expand on the new story, but was disappointed. Take all the rehashing out and the story is half the length.
I loved this trip to Magdalena and catching up with the gang. This book picks up right where book 4 ended, it also explains alot. I can't wait for book 6. If you haven't read the series you need to, if your a fan of romance this is the series for you!
