There is life after death, unfortunately for them, it's the same one...
Brett Perkins was a soldier until the Project killed him. Now he's finding that life after death isn't so hot. With the Project base destroyed, he and his team have been tasked with running down and destroying a group of rogue Bloods. Unfortunately the vampires always seem to be one step ahead. Then they start kidnapping women...
Thanks to her soon-to-be ex-husband, Julia Collier is despised and reviled in the small town of Greenwood. His stories have painted her as everything from an air-headed gold-digger to a nymphomaniac serial killer. She can't even shop in the local store without suffering abuse from her fellow townsfolk, and that's before the late night calls or her ex's bully-boys following her.
When her home is broken into, Julia assumes it's her husband making good on his threats to 'deal with her for good'. She never dreams that it will lead a descent into another, terrifying world. One inhabited by werewolves, vampires... and zombies. Or that zombies could be so damn hot. Especially one certain example who makes her heart pound and all her common sense disappear over the horizon. After all, what woman in her right mind would fall for the undead?
Unless the undead aren't dead at all, but something more than human, from a world she'll need all her wits and new abilities to survive the battle between the undead... and the dead.
Mina Carter is a New York Times & USA Today bestselling author of romance in many genres. She lives in the UK with her husband, daughter, a puppy who pays no attention to her whatsoever, and a bossy cat.
Allow me to start off by saying this was my first Zombie book, and OMG I loved it! I could not put it down once i started it! It was like my drug and I was an addict dying for my next high! This was an amazing book and I did not want it to end . I wanted to continue reading, I wanted to know more. I wanted more hunk zombies! The Characters were outstanding, each one possessed its own hold on your heart, just wonderful writing. My only complaint is that I have to wait for the next book to come out, but I will be first in line to pick it up and continue my ride! This Book offers so much to the reader, you get your fill of hunky hot man, yes, they may be dead but they are definitely HOT! You have action, lots, lots of fast pace action that just makes your heart speed up. You have a love story that you did not think was even possible, but was cheering it on from the start!
Julia's character is absolutely amazing! She is unbelievably strong. How she holds her head up in public after her ex says all of these lies about her, then she gets kidnapped and she fights, and fights hard! If she is going down, she is taking someone with her no matter what happens! Julia thought that her world just turned upside down, but when she meets Brett her world did a 360!
Brett and his Brothers in Arms have been turned into killing machines by the government. When the project back fired Brett and his buddies make it their new mission to hunt down the Bloods and destroy them any means necessary. Brett and his army buddies were out on a hunt when they heard a woman scream. That screamed changed everything Brett had thought he lost the day he became a Zombie!
Read this book you won't be disappointed, I promise!
I'm giving this book 5 out 5!

3.5 stars= I liked it. The sample for Not Dead Enough was really awesome, Julia lives in a company town and her ex has launched a smear campaign that has left her villified by everyone, but things only get worse when she is kidnapped by some really scary guys who she initially thinks are her ex's goons, but are in reality so much worse.
I am not generally a fan of zombie romances but the "science imitates art" premise of military experiments that created SARAs (Self Aware Re-Animates AKA zombies), Bloods (vampires), and lycans is a good foundation - and fortunately the zombie former soldiers who've managed to escape from the lab are for the most part able to manage their condition without having to eat anyone - so even being mostly dead doesn't trump their strength and speed and fabulous physiques.
Our zombie leading man is caring, protective, and heroic, and Julia who ends up ensnared in the bad guy vamps' evil plot is great- even as a human she refuses to be a victim. There's a lot of action and with a zombie leading man it's not surprising that the there's a fair amount of gore (though thankfully not in his feeding.) The romance starts out with care from our hero but is fueled by an instant soul mate vibe which I just rolled with - I am becoming sort of schitzophrenic about when this bothers me and when it doesn't.
I did have minor nits: 1) the hero's compatriots are mostly referred to by their last names, so when a first name was occasionally tossed in it threw me, 2) I really didn't need the two major love scenes to be as detailed as they were since they kind of slowed the story down and 3) -as a personal nit - said love scenes contained my unfavorite female P-word .
Nits aside, this was almost as good as I'd hoped it would be from the sample, and there's plenty of sequel bait in the hero's 'crew' .
Why you should read it: I have to say besides Warm Bodies I haven't read a book where the main hero is a zombie … I now have to re-evaluate my hotness scale. On the other hand, who wouldn't like Brett? He's gorgeous, dangerous, protective and, well, … hot! Mina's writing has always made me laugh. I've enjoyed her hero/heroine interactions, and Not Dead Enough was no exception. Julia and Brett have some steam going on, and I liked the idea of the Project and what our government could be doing. Besides the action and plot-driven story, I really loved Julia. She's strong, intelligent, and when she's kidnapped I was almost more worried for her kidnappers than her. If you're looking for something different, maybe a hero who isn't a wolf or vamp, check out this new series.
I have a *thing* for sexy zombies, guys. A thing. So I completely appreciate a team of zombies who are sex-ay and ready to take on the world if it gets between them and their special lady friend.
For Brett, we're talking about Julia. From the moment he sees her, he's smitten. And vice versa. But with her conversion in effect, they're dealing with a lot more than fiery attraction and a need to get frisky. She's on her way to becoming a vampire and he's not exactly alive. Yeah, it's complicated.
Throw in a bad guy with a messiah complex and a whole slew of vampires who want Julia back in the worst way and you have a lot on your plate. The setup with the bad guys is downright creepy and the new skills that the reanimated soldiers are exhibiting makes me think there's a whole lot more in store for these guys down the road.
Ok so it didn't live up to the awesomeness that was the Project Rebellion series (still waiting on book 3 btw Mina) but it was good. Lots of awesome sex, a storyline despite the brevity of it and I will definitely be waiting for the next one. Seriously if you're expecting more from a short book about zombies and vampires unfriend me :P
This version of the Un-Death I love and would like to read more. Actually I make a wide way around zombies but within these series „Project Rebellion“ I’m happy to be unable to do so. It was surprising and captivating and a bit of addictive. The overall storyline and each story in itself is fantastic and beautiful like the characters - great!
The whole series so far is a recommendation for PNR readers.
This is about another group of men who are considered SARA (self-aware re-animated) and created by a rogue group of the military. They have escaped and are hunting down the bloods (created vampire) and killing them before they kill humans or the other created, Lycan/human. Also by not allowing them to become re-animated (zombies).
The evil people running the Project are at it still, but in the mess Brett one of the SARA’s team meets Julia, Another innocent victim in this crazy battle!Their team is looking to save people from the crazy ‘Bloods’ that got loose from the project site and out wrecking havoc in their wake!
Interesting view, but it seems to work! Looking forward to the next story!
This installment felt like the plot threads were left loose which kind of ruined my enjoyment of this book. It just felt like everything stopped without resolution.
Not Dead Enough is the first book in Project Rebellion SARA and takes place in the same world as Project Rebellion. I don't usually like Zombie romances but the concept here was unique and interesting and I ended up liking it. The SARAs (Self Aware Re-Animates or AKA Zombies) were military men who were experimented on. The government has created Vampires (Bloods), Shifters and Zombies who aren't self aware and the SARAs.
Julia lives in a small town and her powerful ex husband has managed to turn the town against her. One evening she is kidnapped but not by her ex-husbands thugs instead she is taken by vampires. The SARAs have broken out of a lab/facility and are working together to take out Bloods when they discover that Julia has been kidnapped. They want to know why the Bloods have kidnapped a human woman and so set out to follow the trail.
I liked both our hero Zombie and Julia who is tough and brave. She does accept the paranormal world she is thrown into VERY quickly and adapts a bit too quickly to be realistic. The romance tends to fall a bit in the fated mate category but those two things aside I really enjoyed it. The books has a lot of graphic violence and some descriptive sex scenes as well.
Overall, an enjoyable PNR with zombies that will have me checking out the next installment.
I rarely bought books because Kindle Unlimited has a ton of great books offered already. But I was hooked on the first and second book of this series. Aside from the MCs, there were secondary characters that are developing their own story namely Sanders and Richards. I was expecting that their story would progress along with the MCs in the third and fourth series just like the first and the second. But that didn't happen. What happened to Not Dead Enough? Please correct me of I'm wrong. The ending of the second series was that the group was waiting somewhere with the SARAs and discussing going on war with the Project. They were missing Sanders, Steele, Richards, 2 SARAs and the other woman that I assumed was Max. The third series didn't explain what happened to them, and how the 2 SARA stragglers reunited with the rest. I thought the Lycans and the SARAs were plotting against the Project but the lycans were not mentioned in the third series at all. I'm confused with the third and fourth series. It felt like this was done hurriedly just to finish the series. This series should probably fall in my Reread and Favorite list if not for the confusing third and fourth installment. 😔☹️😵
Julie Collier soon to be ex husband has painted her as a gold digger and nymphomaniac serial killer in the small town they are living in. She even been bully by her ex boys making her life a nightmare as the town people even call her names.
Brett Perkins was a soldier until the Project he was working on killed him and turned him and his friends into zombies. He and the rest of his team try to hunt down the rest of the rogue Bloods before they can do more damage.
Julie finds herself kidnap one night by the Bloods as they turn her slowly. Thinking at first it must be her ex husband doings but finds out it is even worse situation They want her to be the mother of their new breed of people thinking she is the perfect pure human and despite she has a history of failed pregnancies.
Managing to escape, she runs into Brett. He knows he is supposed to kill her but there is an attraction between them even though he is dead he wants her. Can they trust each other knowing that they will need each other help? Can the dead and undead join forces to save humanity from greater evil? .
Another fascinating paranormal read by Mina Carter! This was a very well written and page turning book that feature Brett and Julia. Brett was a soldier who left the project changed, into a zombie....now he and his team use there unique abilities to hunt and kill Bloods, a vampire creation by the same project that changed him. Julia is a woman who is attacked and taken by Bloods and Brett and his team track down the creatures who kidnapped her but not before her life is changed forever from being a normal human to something else. Brett is such a strong man who refuses to allow his new life to stop him from making a difference in the world. Julia is so much stronger than she thinks she is as well as being super feisty. I loved that she refuses to allow anyone to tell her what to do anymore. This wonderful story had a great blend of suspense, action and romance. This is an awesome book for lovers of well written paranormal romances with some kick-ass characters!
Favorite Lines “What the hell...? Master race? Who do you think you are? A Nazi?”
“What did she see when she looked at him? A man or a monster?”
“Then level up, and let’s go get the motherfucker.”
“What, you mean get kidnapped by homicidal vampires? Then kick their asses?”
“Figured her Prince Charming would be a zombie.”
When going into this book I was iffy about it because of the zombies but I LOVED IT!!! Brett is a hot as hell, who ever knew a zombie could be so yummy! Julia is thrown into a world she didn't understand but not did she thrive. She becomes a blood that falls in love with a zombie. How can that not be a fantabulous story! Mina Carter nails it again! Loved it!!
I was given this book in exchange for an honest review
Wow, this is a great story. It is so original and unique, I loved it. There are sexy scenes and a romance, but it is more of a sci-fi/horror action story. The heroine gets kidnapped--by vampires. The hero has been changed into some sort of undead being by a secret government project, which gave him and the others special abilities. In fact, they are the apex predator of the supernaturals created by the project. Totally crazy things happen, but our heroine deals with it really well. After her escape, where she meets the hero, she helps the heroes to find the other kidnapped women, giving her a chance at revenge against the vampires.
What an awesome start to the S.A.R.A. Chronicles of Project Rebellion by Mina Carter! She's convinced me to re-consider zombies...not dead enough. Now I'm "not patient enough" to wait for the next book. I want it now, Mina Carter!
(What's up with the "45 pages on Kindle" stat? Much longer, hallelujah!)
i would've given it 4 stars, but i hated that i was expecting a hea for the secondary characters as well... hmm... i sure hope there is a hea for them.
I love this book. I love reading make me feel like I am in a movie but I get to k ow what they are feeling and how they are feeling. couldn't put it down. can't wait for the next one.
This is 4.5 stars for sure. I really liked this and it is the first thing I have read by this author. I am looking forward to reading the other books in this series at some time in the near future. There are a few little issues with wors being out of order but nothing major and nothing that should distract anyone. Things started off a bit slow but managed to kick into high gear pretty quickly once the main female was taken. The story had a nice flow that made it easy to follow and enjoy. The characters were everything you could expect them to be given their situations. I liked them all, even the bad guys because they were so believable.
Brett Perkins was a soldier until the Project killed him. After they killed him they brought him back and he finds life after death not to be so hot. The base has been destroyed after an escape by all those residing there. He and his team have taken on the task of running down and destroying a group of rogue vampires. The vampires have managed to stay one step ahead of them since the break. When the vampires start kidnapping human women Brett and his friends know it cannot be for anything good. Then they manage to arrive just after the last victim is taken.
Julia Collier has been recently separated and is divorcing her husband. Her ex is loved in town and has managed to turn everyone against her. Her husband has been having her followed by thugs and threatening to get rid of her. When she spots men outside her home she assumes that he is about to make good on his threats and tries to fight back. She had no idea what and who was really coming for her.
I loved Julia because she was a strong woman who when placed in a bad situation did not just fall apart but stood firm. I always like strong female characters which we do not get very often. The males were pretty cool too because they were not your stereotypical soldiers, they were more friends than just trench buddies.
I think it will be enjoyable for anyone who has a thing for the paranormal.
Loved this to death, it will be a re-reader for sure. I really am not a fan of Zombies and Apocalyptic books but as this is linked to Ms Carters Project Rebellion series which I love, I had to read it. Stupid me had bought this over two years ago but it had not downloaded onto my kindle app. Was reminded about it, found it and read it in one go. Thoroughly enjoyed reading about these characters and it was great how Brent was with Julia. Glad she had a little payback at the end. I loved this story, it just kept me reading till the end. Enjoyed the difference from plain PNR and apart from one scene, it was riveting reading. But once I had thought about that specific scene, I understood why what happened had to happen. Cannot wait to see where this all goes and see who is next to get a mate.
First of all, I love Mina Carter. I have read a few standalones and a couple series, most recently being Project Rebellion, so I'm pretty familiar with her writing style and know I'll love whatever she dishes out. I guess with SARAs I was expecting something similar to Project Rebellion since they're somewhat intertwined. But let me tell you, Mina blew me away with this one. The storyline, the character development, the dialogue, everything. Just fantastic. And I'll be honest and admit, my brain is still swirling in confusion on getting hot over zombies...excuse me, reanimates. That's a new one for me 😂 Absolutely recommend all of her books, but especially Project Rebellion with Alpha Team Three and the tied in SARAs.
The third in the Project Rebellion series varies on from the previous book, but can be read as a stand-alone. This series has mad scientists in the military experimenting on soldiers and turning them into Bloods (vamps) Lycans (werewolf) or BDs (Re-animates or zombies) It’s PNR so you know what you’re getting, but refreshingly the damsels aren’t damsels in distress for long; they kick arse. Zombie Brett finds kidnapped Julia who has been converted to a Blood. His team are intent on shutting down the monster making shop. There’s romance, intrigue, fighting, lots of blood and great characters. I love this series.
Quite graphic and a number of things aren't resolved but this was an interesting paranormal romance by Mina Carter. A group of former soldiers have essentially been turned into zombies. When a former spouse of a mafioso is captured by vampires and turned, one of the SARAs (reanimated soldiers), Brett, saves her and turns her into a hybrid vampire/zombie. There is a lot of grotesque description during the fight scenes and yes, it's book 4 but I was a bit lost on who the main characters in the other books are, and how they all fit together. I love a good Mina Carter alien romance so I'll catch up on the rest of these.
Antonia 's crew brings Darce back to the Project but instead of being rewarded they are injected with the latest Zombie virus. This virus makes them self aware Zombies who think rationally and can control their bodies. When Darce's squad breaks in to rescue him and Antonia they escape. They try tracking and killing the vampires because they are attacking the human population. They come across Julia who was trying to divorce the husband who is trying to kill her. Another great story. I hope there is a fourth.
This is book 3 in the Project Rebellion series. It focuses on the SARA’s, now escaped from the supposedly defunct Project, and the Bloods from the project that are kidnapping women. It is highly intense, action packed, full of things not-human, blood and guts, and of course smoking hot passion. A super strong female heroine who turns from ordinary human to extraordinary. The pack that we know and love from books one and two are not in this book, but we continue the story with the four SARA’s that we’re introduced in book 2, Quite enjoyable.
This storyline is incredible I didn't put a review on the other two books but I'm telling you the entire storyline is incredible The fact that the government could actually do something like this makes you sit on the edge of your seat and how vicious people can be but how even somebody who could be turned into something they're not could have the passion and love to to be there for somebody if you are interested in fantasy with passion intrigue and a lot of craziness read this series you are going to find it incredible
