Cassie Palmer, once the chief seer of the supernatural world, is out of a job. She’s also out of time—her time. Thrown fifty years into the future by a spell she doesn’t understand, she finds herself sans power, sans allies, and sans a plan—except to get to her heir, Rhea. She received the Pythian power after Cassie vanished but is being held captive by the ancient gods, who found a way back to Earth and turned it into a wasteland.
With the help of John Pritkin, a powerful mage, Mircea Basarab, the sole survivor of the once-dreaded vampire senate, and a rag-tag group of survivors, Cassie must make the impossible happen. And find a way back to her own time to ensure that this one never takes place. But a whole pantheon stands in her way, and they will stop at nothing to wipe out the last remnant of her mother’s blood, and the last chance Earth has for survival.
Karen Chance is the author of two New York Times bestselling series, plus a number of novellas and short stories, all set in the Cassandra Palmer universe. A full-time writer since 2008, she was previously a university history teacher, which comes in handy when writing the time-travel aspect of Cassie’s crazy adventures. Yeh, this was almost back to true form for the series. I really enjoyed this one, and I couldn't say that for the last few. It had really good character moments, it had the excitement and a very satisfying ending. Yes it still has confusing, long action sequences, but not as much as in previous books and I was better able to follow them. Almost no skimming needed. Pritkin was still there for the entire book, which I loved, even if one character I didn't want returned. I think I finally feel confident in Cassie and Pritkin as a couple now; Karen Chance kind of messed with us as soon as they got together, throwing Mircea back in our faces, but I think (hope!) we can trust that Cassie and Pritkin are officially together now, and only them. I need the Lover's Knot spell to die a fiery death. Why is it still a thing? Also, I can't believe that it took this long for the Tony storyline to pick up. Crazy how some plot points are dragged out.
I liked all the new side characters and their arcs. Cassie had some really tough choices and self-reflection going on and it was nice to see her goodness shine through. I read this book in one day and I was sad when it finished. I am actually excited to read another book in this series, and I was missing that love for a while. I just want Cassie and Pritkin to be happy together with no more couple issues, I want Cassie to remain the sweet and caring person, I don't want her to turn into an all powerful god and still have vulnerabilities and need help. If I get all that, with good pacing and editing, I will be a happy girl.
Absolutely amazing book, like any other book in this series.
This book was a crazy, full throttle, balls to the wall rollercoaster from start to finish... pretty much normal for any Cassie Palmer book but this one was even more intense than usual.
This is by far the best Cassie Palmer book... What a rollercoaster of emotions...it's bittersweet because the end is near... but damn it's a good book.
Finally got the second part of this duology and had to go back to the first half to review what happened at the ending. Apparently, Cassie, Pritikin and four friends are propelled 50 years into the future by the explosion of the Green Fey world into a time where giant gods have taken over. She has to stop the gods, save two worlds, find her heir and get back to their own time. Piece of cake.
While I loved reading this, I have to admit it was very confusing. I also lost track of who is there and where they were. So rather than stopping to figure it out, I just kept reading and enjoyed what was going on at the moment. On top of that, there was waaay too much standing around talking, emoting and arguing over things.
Fave scenes: the challenge fight, Cassie choosing, Cassie meeting a ghostly friend and the safe room.
Exciting conclusion to the Highjack the Seas Duology
Pritkin and Cassie and the allies, who now include some of their former enemies, awake in a dystopian future after, the events,at the conclusion of book 1 propel them 50 years into a future where the gods who were previously unable to re enter the realms of Earth, Fairies or the, demon realm break through. The weakened barriers and turn Earth and Fairie into a wasteland as the gods seek to consume all sources,of magic and most of humans and the other magical beings have died. This was a well written storyline with good world building and fan of Karen Chance's Cassie Palmer series will really enjoy the story (and especially the epilogue)!
Cassie Palmer rules and I am so glad I stumbled on the first Karen Chance story in an anthology and then gobbled up everything she’s written. The Cassie Palmer world is intertwined with the Mircea, Dorina world and you won’t want to miss any of it so watch your reading order carefully; start at book 1 and hang in for a wild and wonderful ride through history and fantasy. Fabulous stuff here.
It was an OK book. I wish we could find out that Dory is could turn into a full vampire. Also, could we get Doria’s grandmother as a goddess or something that would be kind of cool and Dory fine and adopted more pets /children like stinky that would be pretty cute along the way to help with the battle and stuff .but in all that it was OK the book I mean
After a spell sends her 50 years into the future, Cassie must figure out not only how to get back to her own time but how to prevent the dystopia she finds herself in. Loved the time travel adventure to stop a dystopian future. Also loved Cassie and Pritkin getting engaged, even if wish she had proposed to him. 3/5 stars.

I struggled. as much as this is fantasy and pushes the boundaries of feasibility this book felt a stretch too far. I honestly expected to read that it was all a vision or dream towards the end. seemed to be an excuse to break the rules had already set in previous books.

I will always come back to this series, its amazing. I've been waiting for this book to come out for ages and at the same times once I got it I kind of held off starting for some reason. Once I started I could not put it down, it did take a bit to remember what was happening. I just kept thinking can she please catch a break, its been non stop for days she needs to at least catch her break.
I still say all these cliff hangers got me going crazy. I wish Rhea had more time to tell them what was going on, they were all talking too damn slow. I was like tell them what they need to know asap like you running out of time, if you have time after then chat more.
Some of the characters got on my nerves the prince always complaining about everything. Also Asabran why do you think you know best, that so frustrating. Love when he got told off. I loved Enid, Vodel and the witches I hope we see more of them in the future. The one thing that I was a bit confused about was the witches that hadn't been born yet. Them coming back to the past, wont that mess up the timeline. As well as the other witches coming back to talk to their younger self. I wonder how that will play out.
-5 stars. this book was split into two books. the first half of the book is hijack the seas: seismic, this is the second half.
dammit! firefox shut down on me and when it rebooted, everything i typed here was gone. all the quotes. grrr. and i've already returned the book to the library so i can't retype the quotes i wanted to share.
loved this book. nonstop action from start to finish. the author had a better editor on this book than some from the past. i had difficulty putting the book down. and billy the ghost is back! for this book at least. that made my heart happy.
Ms Chance has created another wonder of a book. A delight to read and reread. Now we must the wait for the audio book that will slows the fun down so you can catch the hidden gems you missed with the first reading. Truly awesome world building and character development.
Simply great. Even with the finish line now in sight, Chance doesn't let up: the plot is still fast-paced, the action insane and the characters keep evolving. Add to that the usual good dialogue, sense of humour and our favourite war mage and you have another winner in this series.
Warning: Karen Chances books have to be read in order, otherwise nothing will make sense.
Hijack the Seas: Tsunami was a really fun read. I honestly loved it. It did feel a little long in spots and there was some filler here and there, but it never dragged enough to ruin the experience for me. The action, tension, and overall vibe kept me hooked the whole time. If you’re a Karen Chance fan, this one is definitely worth picking up.
Chance delivers the build up that has been going for four books, making me so excited for the next installment. Long standing plot lines are explored, hilarious antics, roller coaster action and strong character development. Loved it!!
I don't have a single bad comment or any critics at all! Omg! I pray this series continues!! Pls let next installment be soon! Idk what I'd do if it didn't keep going!!!
It was a bit boring. I'm sorry, but it was. I usually like the creativity and twists and everything being pulled together with some brutality, but this one was...tame.
