Who Do You Think You Are?: The Genealogy Handbook

Rate this book
A new concise guide to tracing your family tree, from the people behind the popular British television show

In the last decade, the world of genealogy has been transformed. While the sources and information remain the same, the ways of accessing them have multiplied and changed almost beyond recognition, and the team at Who Do You Think You Are? exclusively share their experience and expertise in this essential handbook. There is information on everything from how to order birth certificates and track down immigration records, to drilling down on specifics such as finding out if your army officer great-great grandfather was ever awarded a military medal. Drawing on celebrity stories to illustrate and inspire, and providing hints, tips, and practical step-by-steps, this handbook will bring family history to life for fans of the show, and for any amateur sleuths starting out on their own journey of discovery.

I read this in hope that it would help me out with a writing gig I’ve got over this next year regarding genealogy - and it was brilliant! Not only did it educate and inform me, but it also was an interesting read on its own.

Very enjoyable stories of well known people finding out about their ancestry, combined with tips and advice on where to start if you wish to research your own family history.
