Lindsay Paige is the author of multiple Young Adult, New Adult, and Sports romances. She also enjoys writing books with characters who deal with anxiety and depression, issues which are close to her heart. Lindsay is a North Carolinian who loves watching hockey, sharing puns, having conversations with her two dogs, rewatching episodes of M*A*S*H, and living her dream of writing books for a living.
Hudson and Ellie meet by chance in a bar. She is in Portland for work and he has a night off from playing hockey. Ellie has no clue who Hudson is and he uses that to his advantage. He likes that she thinks of him as normal and isn't using him for his money or fame. Ellie trusts Hudson and finds herself falling for him. Ellie is very sheltered for a 24 year old and has a lot of social insecurities. Hudson realizes that he needs to tell Ellie what he does for a living but doesn't want to have her upset with him. Hudson finally realizes that he needs to tell her, but fate steps in and things don't work out as he planned. Hudson finds himself trying to figure out how to get Ellie to forgive him and make her understand why he did what he did. Ellie finds herself feeling betrayed by everyone close to her and doesn't know how to deal. With the help of his family, Hudson tries to get another chance to make Ellie see she really does know him. It was an overall good book and I read it in one sitting.
I nearly DNF a few times. I love and devour all books with hockey involved but let me just say that a book within a romance category where a professional hockey captain dates a girl and takes almost a year to sleep with her seems so far fetched they might as well have rode a pegasus to Paris.
i think I am done with these authors....abrupt endings and no epilogues....seems to be a habit with them...doesn't make me want to read more...just ticks me off!!!!!
I enjoyed this book because it spoke to the reality that there are some women who don't sleep with every guy they date. Ellie meets Hudson King. a guy that she really likes and he is willing to wait until she is comfortable to take that step. Of course, the fact that he is hiding who he really is tarnishes his halo a bit, but, I really likes the fact that he respected her feelings enough to wait.
I thought this was a sweet romance and I bought all the other books in the series after reading it.
Couldn't bring myself to finish the book as the author couldn't bring herself to decide on which tense to use. She keeps changing from present to past and back, sometimes in a single sentence.
The first in a new series, and full of fun. A classically themed romance surrounding a professional hockey team. Not the usual you'd expect, a few nice twists and turns thrown in,. More depth than usual in the genre too.
I loved this book! It was a quick read because I couldn’t put it down! I liked how sweet Ellie and Hudson were to each other. They made a cute couple. And I loved the ending! Sweetest ending ever!
My first read by these authors and I can say that I will definitely be reading more in this series. Looking for a normal relationship and not expecting to find it Hudson meets Ellie. She has no idea who he is and it makes Hudson long for more with her. Can they have a normal relationship with his career a secret and when the secret comes out will their relationship survive? Definitely recommend.
I am a u hyyou have beenave one of the characters. Edit and spelling errors and spelling errors. If it is amazing. If you know that you can not tell the characters to say something that you haven't had a four year you have up with the same in two years
This book wasn't bad and it made me want to finish it but by then end I was a bit suprised that it ended where it did, it felt like maybe there was going to be a second book to actually finish this one and that annoys me I'm not a fan of serials. I liked Ellie and I really liked Hudson to although I think to classify this as a sports romance is a little far fetched considering there was only one scene in which and actually game was featured. So overall I didn't mind the book it flowed well, the writing was good I just wasn't a huge fan of the ending and I think another problem is that while this is a series you don't get to meet any of the characters in the following books because they are about different hockey teams as it is focused on captains. Because of this I'm not at all invested in this series or even the next story at all and I really don't feel the need to reading after being left hanging by this book. I will say I may pick up one of the books in this series in the future, because I thought the story was well written, but it's definitely not a sure thing.
Super cute story about the captain of a hockey team and the girl who captures his attention - because she doesn't know he's famous. : ) Hudson & Ellie are so sweet & this is a "lighter" romance & I really enjoyed it! I love how well these two mesh together, having something in common and somethings WAY opposite. It's a good match, and the writing allows you to feel right along with them. : )
This was a freebie on Amazon and about as good as you might expect. The characters were engaging and I really liked them. But the plot was very predictable. Hudson is lying to Ellie? You think she might get mad or maybe find out in a very public and awkward way? Ellie was also a little too innocent, shy and quite a Mary Sue. The writing wasn't perfect but the romance was sweet and I liked it mostly.
I was not sure I was going to enjoy this book, but I ended up getting caught in the story, the romance and the characters too. And I quite liked it. The only annoying character was the mother of Mr. Hudson King... it seemed as people had value in her eyes only if they had children... her insistent talk about grandchildren to his son was very, very annoying. The story was a bit maybe too "Mr Prince Charming, the perfect man" but still enjoyable.
Sheltered, innocent, young woman oblivious popular trends meets a famous hockey player who wants anonymity for a while so no full disclosure. Deception is exposed in a public event that could jeopardize her career. In her isolation the two people she trusted betrayed her.
Bit stilted in writing style, story kinda juvenile & ended abruptly for me.
This was a sweet romance. The Hero was an exceptional gentleman and the Heroine very virginal and the author had you actually seeing her blushes.. It was a quick read for me my three star rating is because I wanted to read about a marriage in the end but was left to assume.
Looking For You is the first book in the Oh Captain, My Captain series by Lindsay Paige. Great opening book with a great storyline that had me hooked from beginning to end. I'm a huge fan of sports romance books and this was a fabulous read. The characters were amazing with depth, emotion and chemistry. Looking forward to the next book in this series.
Enjoyed this story so much. Kellie is so sweet and Hudson is a great person. I hate when books make the guy seem girlie over getting the girl. This guy just seems genuine really liked that. I adore lindsay paige. She is an incredible writer. I finish a story by her a little sad leaving new friends behind.
I love hockey romance and this is the first time a read a book by these authors. Let me tell you that it won't be the last, as soon as I'm done with this review I will star the second book in the series.
I love stories like this...a famous person with an unknowing, regular person. I liked Hudson and Ellie and I really liked them together. At times I felt like Ellie was missing something, but they were pretty brief moments. This was an unexpected find and I was pleasantly surprised!
Wow I loved this book its a pretty clean read no sex until the very last chapter but the journey Hudson and Ellie take you on is equivalent to a romantic comedy.
