Crush #2

Just a Little Flirt

Rate this book
Saying yes has always come easy for Fallon. Now, as Renita Pizzitola’s steamy, poignant Crush series continues, winning her dream job means saying no to the guy she wants the most.   Between all the parties and random hook-ups, Fallon Carr is this close to flunking out of college. But her internship working with pediatric patients means the world to her—especially since, at the end of the summer, one lucky intern will be offered a paid position. Determined to leave her bad reputation behind, Fallon even takes a bet that she won’t sleep with anyone from work. But there’s one little catch. . . .   Not only is Cade Ryan the hottest guy Fallon has ever laid eyes on, he’s a therapy dog handler who volunteers his time to visit kids at the hospital. So when he starts pursuing her, Fallon can’t believe her bad timing. The thing is, Cade is different. He’s not like the college guys who see her as a one-night stand, or the high-school boyfriend who took a part of her she can never get back. Cade genuinely wants to spend time with her—and not just between the sheets.   Fallon won’t let her growing feelings for Cade get in the way of her dreams. Besides, no guy can break down the walls she put up long ago. So what’s the harm in a little flirting? It’s not like she’s falling in love. But she may have seriously underestimated how complicated things can get when the perfect guy falls for her first.Praise for Renita Pizzitola’s Just a Little Crush   “Brinley and Ryder are the perfect combination of sweet and hot. They’ll have you pulling for second chances.”—USA Today bestselling author Lisa Desrochers   “Be prepared to swoon hard over Ryder in Just a Little Crush, Renita Pizzitola’s impressive New Adult debut. Brinley and Ryder are drawn together in an almost hypnotic way and I couldn’t help but be mesmerized by the utterly sexy, sweet, romantic, and scorching moments between them. I loved it!”—Christina Lee, author of the Between Breaths series

3.5 Reinvention and Accepting Stars * * * 1/2

This was a little find. I think many younger people go through periods of just trying to see what fits. Sometimes it is done freely and with no serious back story to it. It is the standard growing pains of life.

I also think, though, times have escalated so much to where the same pressures of young romance have become more intense than ever before causing the decisions of 17 through 22 to leave deeper scars with freer acting out. It is understandable. It is more common than we would like to think....and it is something which bears consideration.

Just a Little Flirt is part of a series by Renita Pizzitola. This was the second installment. I had not read the first book and I was able to fully "get" and enjoy this. I could tell the first was good by the writing of this, so it is something to go and find later.

Our set up and focus is on the known "party girl" who has realized she wants to reinvent herself after her first wild year at college. She has been accepted to an internship at the local college hospital working with pediatric patients with the possibility of employment at the end of the 6 week period. She is determined while there this summer to get her head on straight, buckle down and fly right.

She is a cute package and knows she was using it freely, no holds barred. She was trying to break the mold of good girl/long term girlfriend from high school.... because that sure didn't work out. Her boyfriend since 15, pulled the "If you really love me you'll let me" on her Vcard just before graduating. Then he topped that off with "I love you enough to cut you loose for college" crap shortly there after. Now the pond scum is after her 17 year old sis and only her dad sees how screwed up that is.
No...after rebelling and messing with hard drinking, hit it and quit it...it is time to re-access... cause she wasn't even feelin' it.

The set up goes with Fallon racing to get to orientation on time; she left early... did everything right and still there were complications causing her to take the stairs instead of the elevator. Running and trying not to pull a muscle up the three flights, she lands right into a guy talking on his phone at the landing. Of course, he is hot... eyes which connect with hers and both are in that suspended Matrix moment. He clears the air and in a cute flirtatious ways... let's her know a button right in the middle of her shirt is gone leaving her bra exposed. Dying, she grabs the fabric...mumbles something and runs to the ladies room trying to figure out what to do...A knock on the door and a T-shirt appears...The guy felt bad... wanted to help her because he figured out she was going somewhere important to her. Shocked, frantic and willing, Fallon takes the shirt. She puts it on, tucks it into her skirt and prays she is not too late.

As she sits listening to what the head of the program explains about the program, possible employment, etc...she drifts into a daze of feelings... the scent of the hot guy's shirt is too much... too male, too yum and she has to fight her natural inclination to find him and do him. Instead she looks around the room seeing her other interns and now competition.

At her home with her roommate, she shares her story of hot stairway guy and how she wanted to jump him. Laughing with her friends they tease her. One makes a bet claiming she has no ability to stay clear of any guy at work...and bets she cannot for the 6 week period. Fallon says game on.... no hook ups with workers during this time... she knows she has already decided this... they don't know... It will be a piece of cake.

At her first day in the Child Care area learning what her tasks and duties will be, in walks THE GUY...he is Cade and with him is Scout, a golden retriever trained to be a care dog with children. The staff love him; the kids clamor for him and the parents are thrilled with the results. These are children with long term illnesses, their siblings and others. Having an activity calms them, makes the day feel more "normal" and gives them a release.
Fallon sees all of this and cannot believe her luck...here is this amazing guy, with a dog... no less... and she cannot do anything with him...She pulls up her big girl panties (a little damp) and just does her job.

Cade is pleased she is there... she is someone he has been thinking about... and proceeds to be charming, a little flirtatious and tries to make in roads with her. They develop a friend vibe... but he is not going to be happy with that...no... he will see what is the deal.

This had so much going for it. It had a fella who was just the best... loved animals, patient and non judgmental. He understood Fallon after the first misconception...from there it was smooth sailing most of the time. He was good for her... he gave her the way to discover how she was and not fear the labels were always going to stick. He was understanding and took great care to show her respect.

Respect she needed to learn for herself. Fallon had been damaged by her high school idiot. She thought she had trust and love only to see it was never there. She had to experience a road which got her to were she was when she met Cade in order to appreciate and be open for the experience.

I think there are many who have had the Fallon Experience to one degree or another. It can be damaging on so many levels to lose trust at such a young age. The lesson here was eventually she found within her self to figure out what she needed. There was no judgement of being free... it was more of why are you doing it and is it actually for a healthy reason.

This had cute flirting and then steamy times between Cade and Fallon.... yum. There was a substantial plot of hospital politics, cutthroat interns and work lessons. The author has a knack of putting you with these people and keeping your attention. As I said, this was a little find.

Sweet, low-angst and sexy NA romance between likeable H and h who is learning about love. The romance was also slow-build and showed character growth of h which I liked. Didn't like the part where h avoided H bcos of the internship confusion - seemed bit contrived but then it was cleared up and then things were on an even keel:)
Also people who love dogs in their books will like this one.

So. After a week and a half of procrastination, I'm finally reviewing this.

This is the second installment in the Flirt series, whose first book I read a while ago through NetGalley. I was expecting some fundamental differences. Firstly, Brinley, the heroine from Just a Little Crush, was fairly innocent, in typical NA fashion. Her roommate, Fallon, main character in Just a Little Flirt, was the opposite and led a very adventurous life, engaging in one-night stands. Therefore, I was expecting to find a strong, confident in her choices, inspiring MC in this one. Yet instead the author managed to paint her lifestyle in a different light. Apparently, Fallon enjoys only foreplay and cannot get any satisfaction from sexual intercourse, doing it only because she believes it wouldn't be correct after leading guys on. So you see, the author somehow made her a victim in all this. And there goes the image of the free-willed and libertine MC. It would just be too damn terrible if she did it because she wanted too, wouldn't it? You just had to martirise Fallon.

 photo 13886722_zpsuzqyipjl.gif

I ended up not sympathising with her very much. I really liked the love interest though. He is actually a decent guy, without the man-whoring and assholeness normally associated with NA guys. And I'm not saying I don't appreciate those characteristics, because I do, but it was nice to read about this kind of character too.

I'm not feeling like creating a proper review, so I guess this is it. Like the first one, this book failed to deliver something beyond its given pattern. The author sabotaged her chance to write something different by partially annulling the very things that made her main character stand out. Oh well. Maybe next time.

Cade is the ultimate perfect book boyfriend! He's sweet, patient, hot, kind, sexy and he's good with kids and dogs. What's really different and unique about this book from others in this genre is that Fallon is the one with a reputation. Fallon likes to party and hook-up. She's kind of gained herself a reputation as being a one-night stand girl and being easy. She makes no apologies for who she is but she also doesn't want that part of her life to interfere with her hospital internship so she's decided against hooking up with anyone from work. Cade is a dog handler for the kids program at the hospital and when these two meet, there is instant chemistry. I absolutely adore Cade and he's in my top 5 favorite book boyfriends. I'm so glad the author wrote this book, I wasn't a big fan of Fallon in Just A Little Crush but I really ended up liking her and her character really evolved throughout this story. This is the second book in this series but can be read as a standalone. This is a top book of 2015 for me and I highly recommend this one to anyone who loves a sweet romance!

The second book in the Crush series focuses on Fallon, the roommate of the heroine in the first book. Fallon was in a three year relationship before starting college, then the a-hole broke up with her and she kinda lost her mind a little with partying and boys. But she’s starting an internship and she’s determined to put her slightly slutty ways behind her and there will be no crushes or sexing up the men at work. So of course, she meets Cade, the therapy dog handler with the program and you guessed it...romance happens.

The Good, The Bad and Everything In Between

-Fallon is not your typical virgin princess...and I liked that: So I’ll admit, If this was Grease, Brinley would have been Sandy and Fallon’s definitely Rizzo. I could NOT get that old song, There Are Worse Things I Could Do, out of my head when reading this.

description

I could flirt with all the guys smile at them and bat my eyes
Press against them when we dance, make them think they stand a chance
Then refuse to see it through that's a thing I'd never do

Fallon’s the girl determined to be like the boys, willing to share her body but not her heart. As the story delves deeper into why she feels this way, I grew to like that she’s not the typical virgin heroine. That she’s made her mistakes, she owns her choices and she’s really just finding her way to becoming a woman. Frankly, I think there’s alot of young women out there who sleep with guys because of reasons other than desire and I thought it was a refreshing change from the usual virgin college girl stories. Her self-esteem issues, however...

-Fallon’s also really frustrating at times: Her constant self-doubt was frustrating, if realistic. She has her epiphany towards the end, but she waffles alot, even late in the story, and that drove me a little batty.

**Mild Spoiler Alert** There was a point where she deliberately goes out to hook up so she can take her mind off of her attraction to Cade, and that was a huge turnoff for me. It lead to a great scene with a guy named Luke (a sweetheart that I’d like to see get his own story), but it lead to not so happy feelings for me with Fallon. In the interest of fair play, if a hero did this, I would loathe it, so I have to hold Fallon to the same standard.

I completely understand that part of her self-esteem issues drove her to slut shame herself and while in keeping with her character, it doesn’t make the reading pleasant to see her so down on herself. I would have liked to see her change be gradual and build throughout instead of the one step forward, two steps back dance she did, doubting everything, including Cade, who never gives her a legit reason to doubt him.

-But there’s alot of positive messages as well: I loved that there are several guys in this book who respected women, and refused to use Fallon, even when she put herself out there to be used. Between Cade and Luke, I liked that there was a balance to the men, and that the reader had the chance to see good guys as well as the typical drunken college frat guy types.

The Bottom Line
While I had some issues with it, I liked it. If you’re in the mood for an NA romance and don’t mind a bit of frustration with your heroine, I’d say check this out.

Thank you to Random House Publishing Group - Loveswept via Netgalley for the free review copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

Did I like this book?

You know, I'm glad I gave this author another chance, because I really liked this book! And yes, that sentence deserves an exclamation mark because I am really surprised by that fact! After finishing the first in this series, "Just A Little Kiss", I didn't think I would read another Pizzitola book - that one was not bad, but it definitely didn't blow me away either. The characters were stereotypical New Adult cliches, and I wasn't about to seek out another book in the same grain.

Colour me surprised to find that all the problems I had with "Just a Little Kiss" were completely eradicated with "Just a Little Flirt"! It was like someone actually read my mind and said, "You know what? We don't need another cocky, king-of-the-one-night-stand type of guy wooing the innocent virgin only to find himself falling helplessly in love with her and committing to her for life. That storyline has been beaten to death in recent history, let's try something new and fresh!" Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for finally giving this reader what I've been asking for!!!

Anyhoo, now that I've expressed my happiness over the storyline, I need to gush a bit over the characters, especially one Mr. Cade Ryan. Seriously, this guy is perfection on a stick - I fell for him like one of those monkeys jumping on the bed. (Can you tell my daughter just entered kindergarten?) He is just...gah, I don't even know! I just loved how he was so nonjudgmental about Fallon's past, and understanding of her various hang ups. Truly a great guy!

And Fallon? She's pretty cool. Despite her reckless behaviour, her heart is in the right place, and I really enjoyed the growth of her character throughout the book.

Will you like this book?

If you are searching for a quick, sweet, not-so-typical New Adult read, I'd say give this one a go!

Will I read more by this author?

My opinion has been effectively changed with "Just a Little Flirt"! I am now eagerly anticipating the next in this series by Pizzitola.

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of Just a Little Crush (Crush #1) last year (read review here) and enjoyed it so much that I jumped at the chance to also read an ARC of Just a Little Flirt (Crush #2). I'm so glad I did because I loved it every bit as much as the first book, if not more.

Too much time spent partying and hooking up with guys has left Fallon close to flunking out of college. But she's taking her summer internship in the pediatric ward of a hospital seriously and is determined to turn things around. She even bets a friend that she can make it through the six week internship without sleeping with anyone at work.

That was before she ran into (literally) Cade, who volunteers with his therapy dog, Scout, and spends time with the kids at the hospital. He's the hottest guy Fallon has ever seen and just happens to also be sweet and funny and genuinely interested in Fallon. But guys like Cade don't go for girls like Fallon, right?

A history of one-night stands since arriving at college left Fallon with quite a reputation. She's a party girl who isn't shy about her escapades. But an opportunity to be hired on as a staff member following her internship has Fallon determined to put her reputation to rest and be taken seriously. There was so much more to Fallon than just partying and random hook-ups. As I learned more about her background and her relationship with her ex-boyfriend, she became easier to understand and much more relatable. She was determined not to get burned again and thought she knew the best way to avoid it. True love and happily ever after might be for other people but not her.

I loved watching the relationship develop between Fallon and Cade. It was a slow burn, but with plenty of heat! Fallon was determined to not fall into her same pattern and not do anything to jeopardize her internship (plus win that bet). But her attraction to Cade was undeniable and, to her great surprise, it was more than that. Cade was fun and sexy and kind and considerate. But good guys like Cade just didn't get involved with girls like Fallon. Despite Fallon's doubts, Cade's attention doesn't wane and she finds herself more and more attracted to this guy... and not just to his looks.

Fallon was so determined that she didn't deserve a guy like Cade and I loved how Cade ever so patiently showed Fallon how he saw her. And that was my favorite thing about Cade - his patience and his willingness to give Fallon the time she needed to open herself to a relationship with him. Sweet and sexy, funny and understanding... Cade might be the best book boyfriend ever.

Despite the almost-instant attraction between these two, there was no insta-love and their relationship took time to build. Watching as they slowly got to know each other was a joy. I loved their banter and Pizzitola has an amazing gift with dialogue and humor. There were several laugh out loud moments which doesn't happen often for me.

Confession time: If I know in advance that an animal plays any significant role in a book chances are I'm going to pass on it. I'm just not an "animal/pet person" and don't typically enjoy books where animals/pets are featured. I even cringed a little when I first read that Cade was a therapy dog handler. But what a surprise it was to find that I loved what Scout added to the story. Not only did I not mind in the case but I warmed to Scout and I even got a bit emotional at one particular scene. The fact that I was able to overcome my initial bias and actually enjoy this aspect of the story is something that I credit completely to Pizzitola's writing.

There were so many times when I caught myself smiling as I read this book. It quite literally put a smile on my face. And that's what I loved most about this book. Pizzitola's creation of two characters that I was totally invested in, truly pulling for, and who just made me happy. This is only my second book by Renita Pizzitola but I already feel that I'll be reading anything she writes from now on.

Just a Little Flirt is the second book in the Crush series but can easily be read as a stand-alone.

I received an advanced readers copy from Random House via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!

Just a Little Flirt is the second book in the Crush series by Pizzitola. I did have the opportunity to read Just a Little Crush (the first book) in advance of this one but it is not necessary in order to follow along with the story. This book was about Fallon where the first book was about her roommate Brinley.

This is the type of new adult fiction that I enjoy the most. It follows the typical formula of this genre but the characters are true to age in their thoughts and problems and there is more than just sex on each page. In other words, it is more realistic and relatable than some other ones I have read.

I'll start with my thoughts on the characters...

I remembered Fallon from the first book and she had quite a reputation. Although I liked her, I wasn't sure how an entire story about her would play out. Lets just say that I didn't need to question it. Pizzitola did an excellent job at filling in her story so that the reader understood fully the reasons she did the things she did and made her extremely likeable. You got to really see her softer and more fragile side. You really couldn't help but like her.

Then there was Cade...sigh! I loved, loved, loved him! He wasn't the alpha male that is so often found in this genre but the genuinely nice and respectful guy that just happened to be hunky as all heck. Just when I didn't think I could like him any more he would do something to prove me wrong. Seeing as I'm a married woman I can just hope for someone like him for one of my daughters off in the way distant future.

The two of them together were a joy to read. The chemistry was off the charts and the build up left you breathless with anticipation. I thoroughly enjoyed every twist and turn (because it wouldn't be NA without complications) in their relationship and routed for them along the way. When the pages heated up they burned, proving that their chemistry was just as strong between the sheets.

One more character that I feel the need to mention who was a big part of the story was Scout. I loved Scout and I had real tears at one point for him. That is all I am going to say about him. You have to read the book to find out more and I can almost guarantee that you will love him as much as I did.

To wrap things up I guess it is obvious that I really enjoyed this story. It was a quick read that I finished in one day. I can't wait for the next instalment!

4.5 Forever Stars

This is the second book in Pizzitola's Crush Series. I am really glad Fallon is center stage in this book because she really became a great friend to Brinley in the first book, despite my initial thoughts that Fallon was a skank. Fallon is trying to escape that reputation and she is hoping her internship as a Child Life Aide will be the first step in the right direction. Those steps however had her running into one of the most gorgeous guys she has ever seen and despite concerns for getting involved in the work place, she can't deny her attraction to Cade. Even more, she has been burned before so she is not really looking to get hurt again.

Cade is an all around great guy. This good looking dog handler spends his time volunteering at the hospital. He is attracted to Brinley and is willing to spend time with her any way she is willing. But if a guy is as great is Cade, will he be just as willing to over look Brinley's colorful past.

I absolutely love Pizzitola's writing style. This sweet read has just the right amount of sexy, balanced with some funny moments and that little bit of angst which makes you wonder how things will work out. I find that I was able to breeze through the story because I simply enjoyed what I was reading. Brinley and Ryder have some appearances in the story and of course Mason is present for some good nature banter with Fallon. Can I tell you how excited I am that Mason will be getting the next book, I am certain he will make a great hero. So for those looking for a sweet love story with a hero that is truly deserving of that title and a heroine who actually is more of the bad girl turned good by the love of a good man, I highly recommend this book.

Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Cade he likes to give his woman cookie options and share his opinions on them, "I like the peanut butter. And the chocolate. Hell, they're all good." He popped a french fry into his mouth." He always is willing to go the extra mile for his girl, "well, if that day ever comes, I'll owe you one for the birthday party." He raised his beer and tilted it in my direction. "Awkward family functions can be our thing." Cade was always comforting, fun to be around and an all around decent guy, "see, that wasn't so bad." Cade tugged me a little closer. "And right after I pry your nails from my skin, I'll get us something cold to drink." He's always reassuring his girl things, "Cade laughed. Like hard. "Okay. First off, you're not fat. I should know. I've seen you naked." I liked this book it was cute.

I really liked this book way more then the first book in the series but I think it's because I had that background of the everyone so far. I also love a book with a dog as the sidekick, but this one was just a lot more fun to read. Kind of slow at the start but once I got into it I couldn't put it down. Now I'm excited for Mason's book!

I definitely enjoyed this book a lot and was almost gonna give it 4 stars, but I gotta lower it to 3.5 stars. We were so close.

I am honestly so glad I took a chance on this series because it’s quickly become some of my favourite stories, characters, and couples. While I probably prefer the first book to this one, for many obvious reasons, this was still very cute and a strongly worthwhile read. I had already been proud of Fallon’s slight development in the previous book but seeing her fully, getting into her mind and seeing not only how she’s made an effort to change but how she continually wants to be a better person is inspiring and wonderful. I am so glad she’s changed my mind. I think it was really important how she recognized how wrong her behaviour used to be and how every time she felt like she was resorting back to her old ways she consciously made decisions to be better. It was important for the story and for her. I really enjoyed the romance here, even though sometimes it’s not entirely my cup of tea or go to favourite, the chemistry between Fallon and Cade was truly undeniable. I loved how it began as harmless flirting but evolved into something real. I liked how good Cade was for her and how he was not only beyond understanding of her hang ups but of how he really got her to open up and just talk about her issues and how he never judged her for that or even for her past. He was cute and sensitive and just a really good male character. They gave me so many butterflies and I never wanted to stop reading. My only problem, other than no male POV again ugh, was that the ending just didn’t feel like it was enough. I wanted more of their story even though I got a good timeline and satisfying end not only to the drama but to where their relationship was going, I wanted more. I think all the loose ends were tied up and it was a good, happy ending, but I think just from a good solid ending standpoint, the final chapter wasn’t enough for me. I do want to point out the writing was vastly better this time around and I absolutely appreciate that and it made the experience a lot better. But I can’t get over how I still want more. Regardless of that, I still loved the story and loved everything about the characters and relationship. But Brinley and Ryder are still my favourite, no matter how perfect Cade is.

Review by Nicole Lorenzo

Fallon Carr likes to party, says her reputation. Her grades are falling because she spends all of her time at wild parties or with random hook-ups. But the day she starts her summer internship working in a hospital with pediatric patients she vows to start a new leaf. No more parties and way more studying. When she learns that at the end of the summer an intern will be chosen for a paid aid position, Fallon is even more determined to get her life on the right track. Her main focus must be the internship. She decides then and there that she will not sleep with anyone from work and even makes a bet with a friend who thinks there is no way she can keep to that promise. She knows she can until she realizes that Cade Ryan will be working with her a whole lot. Her first run in with Cade was an embarrassing one, but she though he was just a hospital visitor then. Now she knows he’s a therapy dog handler who volunteers at the hospital with his dog Scout. He’s charming with a killer smile and sexy arms that are very hard to resist.

“I’d never consider a guy out of my league—let’s face it, ultimately I always had what they wanted—but this one did all sorts of things to my confidence.”

Cade isn’t like the guys Fallon hooks up with. He is genuinely a nice guy and he starts going out of the way to talk to Fallon and make it very clear that he has an interest in her. Fallon has every intention of sticking to her guns though no matter how different he is. But for some reason she gets tongue tied around him and finds herself agreeing to go to out with him. As friends. He’s just so charming. Besides what’s wrong with a little flirting?

“Damn. That good boy was nothing but trouble.”

Cade was very good at flirting. So good Fallon was at times left speechless. But Cade wants a lot more from Fallon than friendship and flirting, he wants her. A guy like Cade has never showed an interest in Fallon before. After an amazingly hot kiss Fallon tries to tell Cade that she can’t be more than friends right now.

“The way I feel about you isn’t something I turn off and on. I’ve just been holding back…..”

She is seriously worried about the internship but she is also worried about getting hurt. A previous relationship left her feeling worthless and heartbroken. But she can’t stop thinking about Cade and after spending the day with his family she realizes that she is fighting a losing battle. Cade is a good guy and if they keep things quiet for the next three weeks, until the internship is over, she could still get the paid position.

Who would have known the one guy I wanted more than all the others would be the one I’d have to resist?”

Fallon and Cade decide to go ahead with a relationship, keeping it quiet while at the hospital until Fallon’s internship ends. But it turns out that Fallon’s party girl reputation has followed her to the hospital and could ruin everything. Fallon has to decide to trust her heart, trust Cade, or let her insecurities hold her back from true happiness.

“The last year of my life had been nothing but one well-timed mistake after another. I hadn’t planned this, but, for once, I’d gotten it right.”

Just a Little Flirt is the first book that I’ve read from author Renita Pizzitola and I am so glad I did, I couldn’t put it down! Fallon was hurt by her ex, causing her to use partying and meaningless sex as a band aid. She decides to reinvent herself when she starts her internship but then she meets Cade. Cade is perfect. Definitely swoon worthy Book Boyfriend material. He’s gorgeous, charming, sexy, caring patient and works with children and animals. Like I said…… perfect! The chemistry between them is hot and even though Fallon is trying to be good for more than one valid reason you find yourself saying “SLEEP WITH HIM ALREADY!!” But don’t worry patience makes perfect in this story and I enjoyed every moment of it. I am really looking forward to continuing the series even though I haven’t read Brinley and Ryder’s story yet (from the first book) but I plan on rectifying that immediately. Mason’s story is next which I am also very excited for! This is the perfect beach read, funny, sexy and of course flirty!

“And just so you know, when it comes to love, you’re my first, my last, my only.”

Fallon's more interested in temporary fun than a relationship, and her partying ways have earned her both a reputation and nearly failing grades. But while she may not have the heart or the confidence to fix the relationship problem, she's determined to pick up her grades, succeed at her internship, and achieve the career she's always wanted for herself. However, the internship will become a paid position for one lucky participant, and she'll work her butt off to be the one selected — but she has to keep her focus.

Cade works with therapy dogs, bringing canine comfort to ailing patients, and it doesn't hurt that he's drop-dead gorgeous and genuinely nice. But Fallon accepted a bet that she wouldn't mix business with pleasure, and staying away from the one guy who might just get past her walls is proving to be a lot harder than she expected.

The Verdict: I'm not usually a fan of characters who sleep around due to some issue in their past, but Fallon was different than most. While she certainly had some problems when it came to commitment, she never really played the woe-is-me card, and her refusal to be ashamed of her promiscuity had me respecting her before I had a chance to judge her. Sure, a bad experience had turned her off to relationships, and she didn't deal with it in the best way, but she never really went into full-on self-destruct mode, and even though she was missing out on the fairy tale, she was enjoying her life as it was. It felt like more of a change in ways than a coping mechanism.

Like Fallon, Cade wasn't your typical romance novel alpha male, and while he was definitely hot enough and confident enough to go toe-to-toe with Fallon, he avoided the cliches I expected to find in him. He seemed as much into Fallon after her reputation was laid out for him as he was before, and since he didn't play into things like her typical lusty frat boy, he stood out from all the rest of the potential one-night stands. He didn't overdo it, but he did manage to forge a decent friendship with her, something that made her see him in a different light and begin wanting the same kind of happily ever after her friends had.

As could only be expected, Fallon began to compare herself to Cade and felt like she came up short, like he deserved better than a girl who had a long string of guys in her past. That change from her usual brazen pride in who she was got a bit frustrating, but at the same time, it seemed pretty realistic. Everyone has doubts as relationships begin, especially when the object of their attraction and affection seems damned near perfect, and it only makes sense that she'd wonder if her past behavior would become an obstacle. Fortunately, Cade was a much better guy than that, and even as Fallon was busy judging herself, he accepted her for who she was.

Just a Little Flirt certainly lives up to the first book in the series, and I love that we even got to visit with Brinley and Mason. Given how different Fallon was from the other characters, this book easily works as a standalone, but I certainly wouldn't suggest passing up the fun that is Just a Little Crush. So far, this series has everything I love about the New Adult Romance genre, but Renita Pizzitola adds a bit more depth and uniqueness to her characters than you'd usually find in this category, and it's that difference that really makes the stories stand out.

Just a Little Flirt is the second book in Renita Pizzitola's Crush series. See my review of Just a Little Crush on my blog, or on Goodreads.

Fallon has a bit of a reputation. You know, that girl who never says no to another drink. That girl who's not afraid to go home with a different guy every night. That girl who prefers a good party over actually going to class. That reputation is starting to catch up with her as Fallon realizes that her grades are slipping, and if she doesn't do something big, and soon, she might just flunk out of college. Her new internship in the pediatric ward of the hospital might be just the thing to get her back on track. After all, she can't quite show up hungover to a morning shift with sick kids. So with the help of a bet that forbids her from hooking up with anyone at work, Fallon starts making an effort to get her life back on track. The summer internship is only six weeks anyway, and what's six weeks of celibacy? ...Or so Fallon thinks, until she runs into the hottest guy ever in the stairwell at the hospital.

Cade is everything Fallon would never go for. He's the golden boy, and unlike her, his whole life is on track. He does well in school, holds a steady job, and volunteers as a therapy dog handler in his spare time. That's right, he lets sick kids play with his dog to make them a little happier. To make matters worse (at least for Fallon and her goal of celibacy), Cade is the most perfect human on the planet. He's the most patient, understanding, non-judgmental person she's ever met. He'd never go for someone like her, and even if he did, he's totally off-limits.

Just a Little Flirt is the second book I've read by Renita Pizzitola, and I have to say that she's a very talented author. She takes your average, typical romance storyline and puts a twist on it with great characters who have great chemistry. She's equally good at writing steamy and sweet scenes, and her dialogue is always spot on. I actually love every character in this series... how rare is that?

One of the things that I've loved about both books so far in this series is that the girls keep up with the rest of their lives throughout their new relationships. In so many books, the characters spend all their time with their significant other, completely ignoring their friends and families, and making the reader question whether they ever leave the house to go to work. In Just a Little Flirt, just like in Just a Little Crush, the main characters keep up their other friendships. Fallon still hangs out with Brinley and Mason, Cade regularly spends time with his roommate, and the two of them together hang out with the other people from work. And, if anything, Fallon throws herself more into her work to prove that she can do her job well regardless of her relationship with a co-worker.

I really enjoyed Just a Little Flirt, and I'm looking forward to reading the third book in the series. I just hope it features Mason!

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for inviting me to review this book!

I read and reviewed the first book in this series not to long ago, and I enjoyed it a lot. One of the characters we get to meet in the first book in the series is Fallon, who was Brinley's roommate from book one. I liked Fallon in the first book, and even in the first book you could tell her character was evolving, so I was pretty excited to read her story in this book.

So part of the reason why I enjoyed Fallon's story so much is because I think it does the new adult genre justice. Part of the reason why I like the new adult genre so much is because it one of those weird times in your life when you aren't quite the adult you grow up to be, but you aren't the teenager you once were, it's kind of an awkward time. And Fallon is such a great example of this. She changes a lot from the person she was in high school to the person she is after a year in college. Like a lot of people, she really lets loose when she gets to college, and she does that with a lot of sexual relationships with men but avoiding anything serious of any kind. She has some hang ups about sex that are left over from a three year relationship that ended before she went to college, and now with this new summer internship all she wants to do is make her life better. Get better grades, do well in her internship, basically get her life back on track. Only she meets Cade, and he makes her question the whole swearing off guys from work thing. Fallon is just so easy to identify with, I can easily remember being in college and feeling self-conscious about myself or unsure of where I stood with other people. I think a lot of people are going to be able to identify with her.

So Cade is kind of awesome. He's a totally awesome guy. He's patient with Fallon and totally understand of how she feels. He is also just such a good guy in general. He's nice to everyone. Plus he's totally a guy after my own heart because he's a therapy dog handler, and such a great dog owner. And I'm kind of obsessed with people who are good to animals. He's good with kids, he volunteers his time, and has a good relationship with his family. I mean seriously could this guy get any better. Oh wait I forgot to mention he is super hot, has great chemistry with Fallon and he helps make some seriously hot and heavy scenes in the book. Yes please!

I can honestly say that I think I like this book more than the first book in the series, I just loved these character and their story. Great pacing and writing, and a fantastic addition to the new adult genre.

Just a Little Flirt (Crush, #2) by Renita Pizzitola
Book Summary
Published By: Random House
Release Date: 31st March 2015
Pages: 240
My Rating: 4 Stars

Review
I'm a little torn over this book. After the epicness that was Just a Little Crush, I was expecting this book to be taken to the next level. Unfortunately for me, it fell a little flat. That's not to say it wasn't a good read. It was, but in the back of my mind I had the storyline, the chemistry and the angst from the first book playing over and over and over like a broken record.
Don't get me wrong, I am freaking crushing big time on Cade and Scout, they're seriously the heroes of this book, cause now that I'm actually thinking about it, I think the reason that I didn't enjoy the book so much was because of Fallon.
She claims that she never felt bad about sleeping around until the moment that she realised that she'd fallen for Cade, but yet, time and time again throughout the story she reflects on how much she wishes she could change the way she behaved after her relationship with douchebag ended. It became seriously monotonous and boring this mantra that she seemed to need to keep repeating to herself. In my opinion she would've come across a lot better if she'd truly owned her sexuality, if she didn't care what anyone thought and that her internship didn't depend on it. Cause lets face it, what happens behind closed doors shouldn't be anyone else's business.
Anyway, that's just my opinion, I think she needed to be balls to the wall, take no prisioners and own who she was and what she'd done, rather than lament on it and constantly blame her relationship with her ex for the reason she did what she'd done.
So, yeah, as I say, Cade and his dog Scout are definitely the heros. If it weren't for them, then this book probably would've only recieved 2 stars from me, but luckily for Fallon, Renita Pizzitola wrote an awesomely sweet guy for her.
I look forward to the next book in this series, but like I seem to be doing so often lately, I'm also hoping that Renita goes back to her roots and writes a story that is as amazing and sizziling as Just a Little Crush.

Big thanks to Flirt/Random House Publishing and NetGalley for an ARC copy for review.

I saw this on NetGalley and the synopsis had caught me interest, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. It was fun, sweet, and sexy all rolled into one. This is a series, which makes it even better. I have to read book one now!

I liked having Fallon's perspective. She's a fiercely independent, hardworking and dedicated young woman. When it comes to her love life, it's complicated. Fallon doesn't do the relationship thing, but rather casual hookups. She isn't looking for love, but all that changes when Cade Ryan enters her life.

Cade Ryan...

This is the effect Cade had on me. He wooed from the beginning, and throughout the entire novel. He is gorgeous, charming, kind, patient, and wonderful with kids. I love that he volunteers as a dog handler for the children's hospital. When Cade meets Fallon he is very taken by her, even with their first encounter being a little awkward. Their romance was both very endearing and passionate. Renita knows how to write good sensual scenes with the perfect amount of steam. While the intimate moments were amazing, my favorite part would have to be when they both realized how much they meant to each other.

We took a moment to catch our breaths, his gaze locked on mine and a small smile graced his lips. He cupped my cheek, and opened his mouth to speak but I cut him short.
"I love you."
He snapped his mouth shut, curved into a smile, and said, "I love you too."
No exchange of two tiny sentences had ever felt more right. ~ Fallon and Cade

I will say that Fallon's ex-boyfriend is an absolute idiot. He got on my nerves quite a bit, but other than that it was good story, and I adored the ending.

4 my only stars

but anyone who knew me, knew I wasn’t that girl. I was the girl guys took to bed but never home. The one who made them feel good for a moment but never a lifetime.
Fallon is trying to come out of her slutty girl image and focus on school which she is desperately failing. She applies to work at a hospital with kids and she bets she can go 6 weeks without sleeping with anyone and of course the swoon worthy panty melty Cade literally walks into her
Cade never pressures Fallon for more and respects her goal to not sleep with anyone and he is such a good MC he builds Fallon up every step of the way
All in all the book read like a very cute Grey’s Anatomy episode!
youre the only one. My only. Soleyly. Exclusively. Its an unquantifiable measure so you cant devalue it by adding a number as if there will be others

Thank you to Flirt/Random House for reaching out to me and asking if I could read part two in the Crush series

Just a Little Flirt is book two in the Crush series by Pizzitola. I loved Just a little Crush and was excited to be given the opportunity to read Just a Little Flirt. This is a series of stand alones so you do not have to read the first book before this one.

Just a Little Flirt is Fallon's story. Fallon had her heart broken, (well more than broken... probably shattered, blown to smithereens, you get the idea), by her high school sweet heart. She had one boyfriend all through high school, and so missed out on all the high school experiences. Now that she is in college she vows she wont make the same mistake, about missing experiences or giving her heart away. However, Fallon takes living life to the fullest a little far. Now she decides it's time to clean up her image... at least at work. She is going to swear off partying and random hook ups... with people she works with. It is at least a beginning.

Fallon never planned on meeting Cade aka hot dog boy. Cade is a volunteer at the children's hospital where Fallon is an intern. He brings his therapy dog Scout, to help the children. Cade is sweet, attentive, and hot. Fallon quickly puts him in the friend zone.... after all she did make those rules, but she is beginning to wonder if rules were made to be broken.

Fallon obviously has baggage, and lots of it. The question is will she grow enough to get past the hang ups and trust issues to truly trust and believe in what is happening between Cade and her.

This was a good read. There weren't any huge glaring issues that would make it not great, but it was just good. I enjoyed it and I would recommend it.

I adored this book! Cade is seriously perfect. Understanding, patient, honest, sexy as hell AND he works with therapy dogs and children. Swoon!!!!
I loved everything about this book. Sure Fallon was a little standoffish and cautious about a relationship with him but she was also pretty open and honest with him from the get go. For the most part when she did freak out or have doubts she talked to him about it. Even when misunderstandings came in to play neither one of them overreacted in a way that has me screaming about communication.
This book was low on angst but heavy on the sweet and feel good moments. This is a perfect example of why I LOVE NA and will always fall back on it when I'l feel a rut coming on.

Really an enjoyable read and quite erotic for a new adult contemporary romance. Fallon is a young woman trying to find her footing in life, her freshman year was all about the partying trying to regain what she lost during her high school years being on the straight and narrow and trying to please her an asshole of an ex. Now its her sophomore year and she needs to become more focused since her internship can lead to a part time job. But she never counted on good guy Cade who was all so wrong for her but never felt so right. This was really a very erotic and quite realistic take on college life. Both Cade and Fallon were quite enjoyable to read and their romance took awhile to get on the right footing but when it did it just combusted.

Not my cuppa. I was interested in this because for once it's the female MC who is into casual sex and the hero who is sweet but that one scene turned me off. Doesn't matter if it's the heroine or hero doing it.

Fantastic read that I just loved! This had a great storyline with a bit of a role reversal in the characters. Fallon is a party girl who has the reputation to match. Cade is sweet, sensitive, and generally the type of guy every girl is looking for. Fallon has decided to put her bad girl ways aside while completing her internship - no work hookups allowed - but can the temptation of Cade have her rethinking that decision?? This is a great NA read and I highly recommend it.

Renita Pizzitola knows how to write romance that keeps readers on the edge of their seats... breaths coming in fast pants... and gripping their Kindle too tightly. I enjoyed the first book in the Crush Series, and was pleasantly surprised when Just A Little Flirt not only stood up to, but surpassed it. This author's books are on my: buy-as-soon-as-up-for-preorder list.
