None of you are ready… wake me up in two years. I-

When i say this book destroyed me I feel like it’s believable. I laughed, i giggled, i cried (hard) and then I gasped at the end. I’ll desperately be waiting for the end of this trilogy for like every day till it comes out.

Lunas writing is enthralling in a way where you feel like you actually exist in the pages. Even though its witchy and magical you still exist within earth without all the boring parts.

Iona and Ariadnes relationship is one that is so believable. They have love and passion but also ups and downs. They aren’t all perfect all the time. (Even though they are perfect)

Seeing their growth and struggles was one of my favorite parts of this book. If you didn’t know I’m desperately in love for Ariadne and even more so after this novel.

But there is also some mystery. I had so many wacky theories and I did not expect the ending which is unusual for me. I was on the edge of my seat waiting and looking for clues.

This book did not disappoint. Make sure you read book one first!

Her Spell That Cursed Me exceeds the expectations established by its predecessor. The significance of the second instalment would be difficult to be fully appreciated without knowledge of the narrative and thematic foundations laid in book one. The sequel demonstrated impressive conceptual depth sustaining my attention and imagination throughout the 500+ pages.

This novel represents the calibre of fantasy literature I aspire to encounter each time I open a new book in this genre. The author’s craft was evident throughout, her ability to expand the world, characters and thematic scope was brilliant. I would love the development of this story into even a six-part series, I don’t mind one bit! Because the possibilities introduced in this book suggests substantial potential for continued exploration. Overall, Her Spell That Cursed Me stands as an exceptional continuation of the series and a worthy successor to Her Spell That Binds Me.

4 stars. I absolutely loved book one and have been waiting on this sequel. Since the release of the first book I went down a rabbit hole with this author’s work and have read everything that she has written. I’m obsessed with her writing style, it’s gorgeous. I found it extra impressive here. The setting and the magic system and the characters are so easy to imagine for me and really draw me in.

My main complaint of this book is the exact same complaint that I had about book one; it’s too long and the pacing suffers because of it. Listen, don’t get it twisted I love a long sapphic book but the pacing here especially in the middle and towards the end was just so slow that I found my interest waning a lot. There were moments that just brought the story to a halt and I found by the end that I just wasn’t as in love with this one as much as I was with book one.

What I did love though was the character growth for both of our girls. Ari and her hot mess family (her mom…UGH!) and her being more open and vulnerable with Iona was so good to see. Iona finds her inner strength and is learning to be more take charge and there were so many moments that I was so proud of her. Also, them as a couple I still very much adore. They are wonderful together and I loved how they handled tough situations in this. They have a great relationship and the sex scenes in this were both incredibly sexy but also tender.

Overall, this sequel was not bad in the slightest I’m just a stickler for pacing. If a book is over 700 pages (like this one) of course there are going to be slower moments, that's to be expected, but the slower moments here were just a bit of a slog for me to get through personally. I’m still very much excited about book three because I adore these characters and this world.

I never write reviews. But this book- wow.

If you think you know - it’s not that, it’s more, it’s bigger, it’s heavier, it’s everything. This is gonna take some time to sink in, but in the meantime I’ll re-read with more understanding and appreciation for these beautiful characters.

I’ll reach for this again and again and hope time passes peacefully as I anxiously await the release of book 3. Thanks Luna.

I love this series and need book 3 now!

With her sequel, Luna’s writing has vastly improved—the sentences seeming for flushed out and not as clipped as in the first book. The way these characters have developed is amazing and a credit to Luna’s writing prowess.

I freaking love and adore Iona and Ariadne with my whole heart—as a couple and individual characters.

I love how often they openly talk about their feelings together, as a couple and what they need from each other. I love seeing Iona come into her own sexually and take charge over Ariadne in their intimacy.

I can’t say too much more without getting into spoilers but I hate how insecure Ari is during some of this book. It breaks my heart bc our precious baby Iona would never hurt her in any way. Ari’s been really hurt and tormented throughout her life and Luna dives into more of that in the sequel. It’s nice getting her back story since we learned Iona’s in the first.

Also, holy shit my feelings. The way I was hooked and just devoured this book, especially the last like third of it. The action and fighting scenes are so well done and fluid and were fun to read.

I cannot stress enough how good this series is. If you like witches, spells, and a great cast of characters, definitely read Her Spell That Cursed Me.

I truly never did doubt how good this book would be or how it would never disappoint, but ooooh it smashed my expectations. The vibe was completely different vibe from what I remember experiencing with book one, but it was everything, the stakes were so high, but all the love and energy was still always there. I also failed to guess two of the big twists or surprises, I got a small bit of the big end reveal, but I was the highest amount of shocked ever at the rest of that reveal as well as the last two battles.
For me I do normally get a lot of the big reveals before they happen, so it’s not very often I experience such shock or anticipation or anything like that, but this book had me on the edge of my seat the entire time, I also have never audibly gasped in shock and horror so much in my life.
Ariadne and Iona are both still beautiful characters. The opening chapters with Ariadne had me in floods of relatable tears, I love her characters story, the tradgedy of it and the growth and the insecurities she still has, how nothing is ever 100% healed or forgotten. Ariadne is an incredibly real character and I love her the most. It truly doesn’t seem like it can get worse for her, but then it does, and it’s heartbreaking. I need to see her get the world in book 3, she deserves the universe of happiness and I truly hope she gets it, she needs it.
Iona was a little different in this book for me? Like probably not that different I just don’t think I understood some of her choices, but by the end I realized that I don’t think I was supposed to? These are my guesses but even though she knows partly what’s going on with herself I don’t think she fully understands the effects maybe? There is definitely more to Iona that we have to learn in book 3, and I can not wait for it. Like her love for Ariadne is still there, clearly, I just think maybe everything is getting too much for her? She has experienced so much in such little time and it’s clearly had an effect, on top of what she experiences in this book.
One thing I wasn’t 100% into in this book was the spice scenes, they kind of just felt forced and unnecessary? They just happened so randomly, I think it’s probably supposed to come across like that after finishing the book, but it wasn’t exactly the best of reader experiences, but after finishing the book I really do hope its just because of Ariadne and Iona’s character development, because the scenes with other characters were absolutely fine.
Overall I did truly love this book, it didn’t seem like an unnecessary sequel for the sake of it, it felt like a continuation and another chapter of complete mayhem in their universe.

Hey, so that's not very nice. That's not very nice to end this book on an awful cliffhanger.
Ok, so my brain chemistry has officially been altered once more. I was just sticking around for horny lesbians but then you give me deadly battles, dark magic, and betrayal? What??
The stakes in this book were leagues higher than the last one, so that was a bit of a whiplash. Just characters dying left and right, and you have no clue who is gonna be a target next. I was so happy to see that Ariadne got a lot more showtime in this book. Here, just through her actions, we delve even deeper into her psyche and her relationships with her family(fuck her family, btw). She's a bit softer around the edges, showing a more vulnerable side that exposes her deepest insecurities, her doubts and fears. She becomes a more complex and well rounded character here. And on the other side of the coin is Iona, who has to work even harder to prove why she deserves the pendant, is a lot more assertive and dominant(in more ways than one) and steadfast in her beliefs of creating peace among the witches. Their dynamic is very similar to that of Wren and Lei from Girls of Paper and Fire, where one preaches compassion and the other preaches ruthlessness. I'm guessing(hoping) there will be a middle ground to these mentalities in the next book. And God, am I desperate for the next book.
Yeah no was not expecting to get my heart ripped out of my chest there at the end. I nearly keeled over and cried from the emotional turmoil.
But seriously, that third act was phenomenal. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time.
Nothing too notable to critique, I only have the same gripes that I had with the last book, which was a couple of pacing issues and grammatical errors. Again, clearly a self-published book, we can't all have access to an editor.
With the first I was really in it for the vibes, but with this second book, I am in this shit for life🤞🏾. If the third installment already existed I would have bought that shit TODAY.
Here's to sweet revenge in the next story 🍻.
I'll be in my padded room and straight jacket until then.

I have finally read a book in which case I could not predict a single plot twist leading to the end. I’m left with all of the emotions, and with no words to describe them. I’m so excited for HS3 to release, with the new alliance formed, and the pressing challenges ahead. It’s sure to be an astonishing end to the series.

Amazing

This book has destroyed me. It was beautiful, it was intense, and I was gripped from start to finish. This next part of Iona and Ariadne's journey was a rollercoaster to say the least. The book felt darker than Her Spell That Binds Me, and didn't pull its punches. Seeing Iona struggling with the sheer enormity of the responsibility she's taken on while Ariadne is constantly battling her own demons and insecurities just endeared me to both characters even more. You really feel the weight these issues bear on their new relationship. And the ENDING?! I still can't talk about it. I'm counting down the days till the 3rd book is released.

Wow. This book went in a direction that I did not see coming and I am all about it. Heartache, strife, regrets - on a massive level. The chemistry between the MFCs and world-building were beautifully elevated from the foundation written in the first book. 100% cannot wait for book 3.

And I’m crying

Take a deep breath and for the chokehold that is book 2, folks. Luna will punch you in the soul several times, without mercy, and you’ll beg her for more. If book 3 isn’t Ariadne surrounded by cute puppies and kittens and filled with joy and love and laughter, I’m probably gonna need to up my Wellbutrin.

Very good! It's very hard to get me *this* emotional about a book or the characters. Speaking as a writer myself currently writing a story with women similar to Iona and Ariadne, I absolutely loved the first book and wasn't disappointed by the second. The third I hope ties this series out in a satisfying happy ending bow, as I'm preferential to happy endings and this one, well, I won't spoil. Even if, dang, it hit me right where it's making me still trying to emotionally process it hours later.
Regardless, I'm willing to wait for the next book, however long it takes (even if it's half impatient until we get a release date, lol), as making a good story like these two take time and love to create.

The range of emotions Luna brought out of me in the last 200 pages of this book NEEDS TO BE STUDIED cause I was gagged nothing but pure shock ahahaha This book was so incredibly good. There’s just something about the way Luna can bring her ideas for a plot on paper and it’s so delightful to read. I’m just so happy that I was able to read this book😭Like coming from the first book I had highhhh hopes for the sequel and it did not disappoint. The third book is set up so well, there’s so many plot points I can’t wait to see unraveled. It’s going to be so high stakes and I cannot wait😭

DONT WALK TO THIS BOOK RUNNNNNNN

Oh how I have missed Iona and Ariadne! I orginally was going to read the first book to reacquint myself with what happened, but I’m impatient and decided not to. Dare I say the second book in the trilogy is better than the first? I did not anticipate it going this way and was beginning to wonder what the third book was going to be about... and then plot twist!! I was not expecting the revelation that changes everything at the 91% mark of the book.

Throughout the book, I have made myself stop reading so I don’t finish it. I knew going into this that I would regret reading it due to the trilogy not being finished. I was right.

Luna is a genius in her world building. The way she effortlessly has crafted this magical world without being boring or dragging it out is a feat in and of itself. I never felt bored or felt like the world building was something I had to get through. Both novels did a good job at keeping my attention while world building.

Overall, the angst in the story was a lot and at times, it was frustrating seeing how Ariadne’s insercurities overtook her trust. But, it is realistic, which I believe adds to the frustration. It probably irks me even more because I can see myself and my insecurities in Ariadne.

When I say I need the next book now, I mean it! I did not see the plot twist coming. I did have an inkling or thought that maybe someone was not as them seem and wasnt an ally, but it wasn’t in the forefront of my mind. The spice in the book was magnificent, just like the first book. Luna does not disappoint in the sequel to the “Her Spell” trilogy. Why do I do this to myself?

Okay I’m incredibly impressed. This book is so good, the writing is immersive, the character development is strong, the plot is so well done, the relationship between Iona and Ari is soul crushingly good, and everything in between is also amazing (including the spice 😏). The first book is good, this book was exceptionally better. There is a big difference in the writing in the absolute best possible way. I feel like every critique I had from the first book was pointedly solved/remedied in this one and I absolutely cannot wait for book 3 (and 4..5..6, please don’t stop at 3 books, or at least keep making new stories for my greedy ass to consume)

Okay I want to cry first of all, how the hell am I supposed to wait for book 3!?!?
I honestly really loved this book, I loved the conflict in Iona and Ari’s relationship, the turmoil in the characters is deliciously devastating, and I did not see that twist coming in its entirety.
I did know there would be one due to a review (sadly, wish that counted as spoilers but ig not) so I was on the look out for it, I suspected each of the family members, some more then others, and many side characters but I mostly thought the crone was Hecate. I did not expect the whole thing, but when it was outed it was not unbelievable at all. There were small hints throughout that I remembered, and I can’t wait to re read it to find more!
Also I very very very much loved the perspective shift when the fate weaver died. I thought it was such a cool touch and made it feel like I was experiencing the same weird feeling the characters were.
Over all I’m impressed, keep writing girl you got some true talent!!

This trilogy has truly been my best read of the year, and subsequently ruined my whole life. Someone bring me back from the dead in two years, because I'll be thinking about Ariadne, Iona and what's to come until then! Her Spell That Cursed Me was an emotional roller coaster, with twists and turns I could've never expected. Every time I thought I had an awareness of what was happening in every plot line, reality of what I thought was happening was torn from me. Iona and Ariadne's devout love is an indescribable tale. From enemies to lovers in a classroom setting during Her Spell That Binds Me, to a witchy power couple that truly became a perfect match. I felt every emotion from anger to sobbing to being left on a cliff hanger with a glimmer of hope for what is come to in the third book. I would aggressively recommend this series for any wlw romantasy lover that wants to love the characters way too much, have their heart torn from them, and be left with a undying desire for the rest of the series.

To be honest, I did find the first half a little slow because there wasn't much action happening, though I didn't mind it too much due to the fact that I simply adore Iona and Ariadne and their relationship. But, once things started happening, it became a roller coaster ride until the insane ending. I'd said that this year was the cliffhanger year for me and that I'd become pretty inured to them, but this one was so mean that it really shocked me. I loved it! I can't wait to see what happens in the third book. The secondary characters felt more fleshed out this time and Crescentia turned out to be a truer and braver friend than I was expecting. But the focus was on Ariadne and her absolutely horrible past; I really hope she finds some peace and healing in the last book, she really deserves it.

An enthralling sequel.

This book... this damn delicious book BLOWED ME OUT! I devoured it quickly and want more! ❤"Her Spell That Binds Me"❤ was amazing, and the second part ❤"Her Spell That Cursed Me"❤ just builds on that... it's different, maybe darker, but beautiful in its own way! I won't give away any more, just dive into the story, fellas, and see for yourselves!

Luna is a great storyteller, masterfully building fantasy worlds, realistic scenes, and deep characters! Reading her beautiful scenes, I can see how much deep research, love and imagination lies underneath. If you haven't read anything by her, it's a big miss... I love all of her books and highly recommend her work!

the plot twist in this - WAY better than the one in book 1 (which i had guessed quite easily). it is definitely a divine exploration of the way that one's past and insecurities can impact a relationship, as well as the way said relationship can impact the whole concept of SAVING THE WORLD FROM EVIL. initially, it was a tad confuzzling when iona started losing her memories and jumping through time and stuff, however i actually admire the way that oblonsky has written those parts as well as the change from 3rd person narration to 1st person narration when the threads of fate are snapped. it's very clever and very symbolic.

I am so crushed, Ariadne suffering with a fate worse than death stuck in purgatory, her soul never allowed to rest. At least there is a chance of her soul being returned or would a happier ending be her being freed of this pain?

I did see the whole coven being a malifician/suspect it for a while, I didn't think Ariadne's mother with all of her cruelty made sense as a protector and when Morgan, the original pendant bearer had no idea of the family's wishes of preventing malificians I found that suspicious.

But I reckon that Ariadne will be revived as there may be no other way of reclaiming the body stolen. Maybe a happy ending in third book... in 2027 ☹️

What an amazing book and capacity to story tell. The stakes became higher than I thought they would and I cannot wait for the third installment. Ariadne’s journey is painful to read, but I cannot wait to see its resolution, hopefully one concluding with peace, self-love, and acceptance. Iona’s is not far behind and I am thrilled to have seen her ark by the end, understanding what must be done to get Ariadne back. Can’t wait to see how this will end.

I feel like my rating may change based on how I feel about the third one, whenever that comes out, mostly because the ending to this one was so bleak / ruined the HEA from the first book (and probably most significantly, I also didn’t realize it was gonna be a trilogy before starting).

However, I was thoroughly entertained throughout and enjoyed the world building and plot twists.

I favoured this book over the first one, it was great to get context for everything and the twist was amazing! I feel like I experienced every emotion while reading 💔, I cannot wait for the final book. I did think that there were points (esp. in part 2) that did drag out a little bit, I found myself losing interest, however I see now how that tied into everything at the end, so 5 stars 🌟

The vocabulary and imagery that Luna Oblonsky uses are so lush and evocative. It’s so fitting for the content and setting of the book.

A wholly different book than the first one but still just as amazing. Iona and Ariadne are beautiful together.

i’m gonna cry waiting for the third one :(
