Katie Flynn was born in Norwich and attended Norwich High School, where she was extremely happy and extremely undistinguished. Published at the tender age of eight, in Enid Blyton's Sunny Stories, she joined a Writers’ Circle as an adult, publishing short stories, articles, etc; only turning to novels in 1971 because the postal strike cut off her main source of income! At first she wrote under several different names – Judith Saxton, Judy Turner, Lydia Balmain, Judith Arden – but her Katie Flynn books were a delight to write and proved far more popular than she had dreamed. She has now published nearly ninety novels, twenty-seven of which are Flynns. Her most recent titles are: Lost Days of Summer and Christmas Wishes.
The Glory written by Katie Flynn is another great read by this very popular author. This is the second book of the series and I loved how I was able to connect again with the characters I first met in the first book titled The Pride. The first book was based on the lives of the TIna and Ted Neyler as well as their many relations. With this book, we once again are brought into the lives of Louis and Dessie and of course Frank who we met in the later stages of this last book. I enjoyed this book as it was based on the era of the First World War, it showed how it affected the men who went to war in so many different ways and so many different levels. I loved how the author showed each character at their worst and best which made it so easy for me to connect with them and their way of treating those around them. This is one very readable book which I am very happy to recommend. I loved this book so much I bought the audible version which was narrated by Anne Dover. Anne Dover has a wonderful way with not only bringing the accents alive but also her way of showing the characters and their depth of feelings while they face not only the horrors of war but also the years after when they have to come to terms with the very many cruel sights which they saw during their time in France. A great read which I am very happy to recommend.
I was disappointed in this book. This book is the middle book of a trilogy I have now started reading the third which looks much more interesting And more of a compelling read which I’ve got to expect of this author
Sorry to say that I only read to page 33 and it really got to be hard work. I can normally read a book to the end but on this occasion I am going to call it a day and start a new book
