Song of the Forest: Book Two of the Pendulum Series

Rate this book
In the shadowed wilds of the Sunlands, the forest does not forgive mistakes.

And it never forgets them.

Dannel, a solitary Forester haunted by the death of his Guide, hunts the monsters and giant beasts to protect his people. But when the Lord’s law is broken, he faces a choice that will set him on a path more dangerous than any predator’s pursuit. As the line between hunter and hunted blurs, Dannel must decide what he’s willing to sacrifice, duty or love.

In a forest older than empires, a boy of mixed blood flees from his past.

And straight into legend.

He was never meant to survive. But when a half-orc is saved by a shape-shifting witch with secrets of her own, he’s given something a second chance. Haunted by a burning rage, he must learn to control it or risk becoming the very thing he fears.

Sworn to protect them both is the Company of Bones, mercenaries for hire.

Loyalty, luck, and the promise of gold collide in the second thrilling installment of The Pendulum Series, where every name holds power and every choice echoes in the song of the forest.

The character building and visualization of Mr. Morton's writing are top tier among fantasy writers. I was enthralled with this continuation of The Company of Bones.

Still loved the dynamism of this story but wanted them to go deeper into the characters already introduced not throw more into the mix.
