Slasher Reading

Growing up, I loved the slasher movies with names you'd never remember...until you saw them again. Movies like, "The Stuff" and "Chopping Mall." This book reminded me of that.

It was a fun, slightly gory trip with just enough titillation to get the R-rating. It does continue into a series, which these naturally lend themselves to. That's why we have about 300 Jason and Howling movies.

Good times that brought me back to childhood for an hour.

[Edited to add: Other reviews point out that there were a LOT of storylines and characters. I don't disagree with that, but also considered that most of them were just cannon fodder for the upcoming deaths. Also, I couldn't tell you the plot of "Jason Takes Manhattan," but I love that movie. Sometimes its fun to just let your mind go and have fun with it.]

This was a quick summer horror read that takes you on a wild ride from the very beginning. I had so many questions throughout this book because there were so many parts where I was like, "wtf!" I am going to be completely honest and say that I only jumped into this one because I needed a "camping" story for a bingo book prompt, but I definitely liked this book more than I thought I would. The idea of going back to the campgrounds where one of your friends went missing so many years ago for a class reunion is the perfect setup for your typical slasher story to take place. When body parts start to pop up and then are ignored for the sake of being the savior of the weekend, I knew things were treading on psycho behavior. There are so many characters and so many things going on, from the little boy with the worms in his head to the con artists that are trying to blackmail the politician.. AND THEN... that ending... you can't just end a book like that... WHAT THE HELL!!! ho hum... off to book 2.

arg . I was reading this book for a slasher summer horror book. I know when I hit page 38 and they had like 5 different story lines that something was up and I was correct be continued . Also they are all over the place I don't plan to read the next book 60 pages could have been made into a 100 and finished the story do not recommend this book . The reasons I had not DNF'ed
1. the vibe was right .
2. writing was good if not for all the different storylines.
3. I was wondering if they could end it well in 60 pages . it did not.

I didn’t expect much from kindle unlimited recommending me a 60 page book.
But holy cow what did I just read? There’s so many characters and story lines it’s confusing to follow. It’s already obvious who’s going around killing. So rushed. Not worth the time.

Too much going on in such a short book. I also dislike the fact that three 60 or so novelettes or novellas are split up into separate books instead of one book since it's one story. It's not a cliffhanger; they just end the book like it's another chapter. It makes me want to avoid the rest.

Changed from a 3 to a 4.

First of all, there is way too many things happening at once, too many characters and storylines. BUT. The reason I upped it was purely because I read the next one.

This really should have been one big book vs a short story. Would have helped a lot!

The kill scenes are really cool, the vibes are great! Just too much happening. I had a great time though,

I am a sucker for seasonal books, overall it was okay. I felt like there were 3 story lines going at the same time and didn't get a clear conclusion to neither of them.

Way too many characters and storylines to keep track of. It’s written like a sugared up kid was reading a screenplay overview.
I made it to 48% and just couldn’t keep track of anyone or anything that was happening

I was in the mood for a slasher type book and ran across this on Kindle Unlimited. I didn't have an issue with the different storyline arcs and it started off with a bang. I figured out the killer kinda quickly the only issue was all the childish fighting from the characters. It ends on a cliffhanger so I'll be reading part two to complete the series.
