Sergeant First Class Johnathon Cortez and his Special Ops squad have endured everything the war could throw at them. But when they are recruited to rescue a scientist shot down deep behind enemy lines, everything seems out of the ordinary. Lieutenant Ross, fresh out of Officer School, and a soldier with no military record are added at the last minute to spearhead the operation alongside them. But the mission becomes even more obscure when the coordinates for the helicopter crash are hidden from everyone but the new lieutenant, who is also given the only map to their objective and his own mission briefing.
As they are given new weapons and equipment to aid them in their mission, Sergeant Cortez can’t help but feel like there is more to this mission than they are being told.
Once they are inserted into the jungle, the mission quickly goes from bad to worse. Their team sniper stumbles upon the corpse of a fully mature tiger that has been ripped apart and eaten by something in the jungle. Next, the team locates an enemy camp that has been massacred with only one survivor that has had all his appendages bitten off.
But before Cortez can call to get them out of there, they are attacked by a primate more deadly than anything they have seen before. After using all their skills to kill it, they hear dozens more closing in and their radio is destroyed.
They must find a place to hold out and make a plan. Getting hold of the map, Cortez realizes their destination wasn’t a helicopter crash, but a facility underground that holds secrets and nightmares more terrifying than they could ever imagine.
Rallying his team, they make a run for the facility in hopes of finding a way home and end up uncovering an operation so terrifying that getting out alive is almost certainty futile.
