Spearcrest Kings

Spearcrest Queen: The Spearcrest Knight Sequel

Rate this book
I came to Harvard Law School to carve out my own future.
There’s no room for indulgence here. No room for mistakes. And absolutely no room for Evan Knight.
He’s a scandal waiting to happen. The golden heir with the world at his feet and my heart in his hands… and the boy I should’ve left behind.
Because if anyone discovers we’re together, I won’t be seen as brilliant or worthy.
I’ll be just a charity case who slept her way to the top.
So what choice do I have? I have to end it—before he ruins everything I’ve worked for.

Sophie Sutton doesn’t understand what she’s asking.
What we have is precious, all-consuming, once-in-a-lifetime. But she’s still running. From the past, from the pain, from me.
Deep down, I know I should let her go. But I can’t.
So I offer her a let the world believe we’re finished. Let me be your secret, your shame, your mistake. I don’t care how pathetic and desperate it is. Just don’t ask me to stop loving you.
It’s a loser’s bargain—a game neither of us can win.
We both know it can only end in disaster.

But when has that ever stopped us?

Oh my god did Aurora eat with this book!!
She is actually cruel and evil cause why was I in so much pain reading this...
Chest aching, heart bleeding, emotional PAIN!!!

Evan and Sophie put me through it guys. The fucking angst was KILLING me.
Some people were saying this book was miscommunication and I simply don't think that is true. Bad communication? A little bit, but because we already know about the characters from Spearcrest Knight and the Spearcrest series they have a lot more depth to us, or at least me, that made me fully understand where they were coming from. Sophie's not insecurity but I guess trauma? or hurt from the past because of Evan made complete sense and I thought was super well done. Hell no would I have been over everything she went through and I think thats part of the reason why this book affected me so much because I understood her so deeply that I knew what she was doing but I felt bad for Evan but I know they needed to separate but I still ached for them to be together but... well I think you get it 🤣
And thats why I feel like as much as I hate to say it (since Aurora was crushing my damn heart) the separation/breakup was necessary for their character growth. Sophie needed to get away from Spearcrest and the pain it brought her completely and Evan needed to figure out who he was and what he wanted.
And this book was perfect for them.
We got to not only see they grow and have their overall character arc's develop in this book, but we also got to see them grow as a couple. We got to see how they really fit together and I think the separation helped file those edges to make them fit perfectly.

Overall this book was perfect for them and I think it completed Spearcrest Knight and SophieEvan perfectly!!

Oh and I cannot WAIT FOR SPEARCREST LEGACIES OH MY FUCKING GOD!!!!! I know Aurora is going to EAT and I am SO EXCITED!!

Are you kidding me? A million stars.
I can’t begin to express the rush of serotonin I felt being back in the world of Spearcrest. This book is decadent, brimming with moments that are equal parts heart-wrenching and swoon-worthy. Sophie and Evan’s push-and-pull dynamic is addictive. Their chemistry crackles on the page, and even when things get messy (which they absolutely do), you can’t help but root for them.

This was every bit the emotional rollercoaster I hoped for, and then some. The yearning, the stakes, and the fear of being truly seen and understood all built towards a powerful emotional payoff. The sheer depth of love these two have for each other, in spite of everything, made every painful twist and turn worth it. Evan’s redemption arc? Sophie's revenge arc? I digress.

Aurora Reed knows exactly how to deliver angst, passion, and an intense, soul-crushing kind of love. Also, all the mentions and cameos of the other characters/couples in the series were the cherry on top. You can feel how much this world and these characters matter to the author, and it’s impossible not to fall in love alongside her. Romance isn’t dead. It’s in every single word of this book and across this series! 🤎

Thank you to the author for providing me with an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

𝘼𝙍𝘾 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙫𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙙 𝙗𝙮 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙖𝙪𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙧!💛

Looks like I was correct with my assumption that sometimes the sequel published after years only destroys the growth of the mcs and ruins the story:')

Okay look, this wasn't a BAD book. I really really love the Spearcrest Kings series. I do. It's amazing. And the first 3 books were straight up 5 stars for me. But Sophie and Evan's character felt very different to me here.

The entirety of their relationship felt like it was built on miscommunication. I get that Evan ruined her in Book 1 but everything also wrapped up there so it bothered me alot everytime when Sophie kept pushing Evan away instead of communicating about what hurt her. Evan was persistent and never gave up and I love that about him. I loved Sophie in Book 1 but she just got on my nerves here. My blood absolutely BOILED everytime she took shit from the trio at Harvard. It felt out of character. And when she did have a come back, it felt too subtle. I wanted her to DESTROY those rich, spoiled brats and put them in their place from the very beginning.

Maybe if I read this as soon I finished Book 1 like a duet, I'd like it a bit more. But nonetheless, the miscommunication and unnecessary push and pull was PAINFUL.

Anyways, it was nice to see the Spearcrest fam together and I loved the cameos. And I'm SO EXCITED for the sequel series!!! Despite me not liking this book, this world holds a special place in my heart, so yes I will be reading the spin-off series! It sounds so good and I can't wait!!

arc provided by the author🪽🤎🏆

since the book has been out for everyone for a while i came back to write down my honest thoughts.

i liked it - in the sense that the characters were true to themselves (we all knew sophie would break up with him sooner or later, it was bound to happen) and it was a good conclusion to the series. evan was already a perfect character from the start (sunshine boyfriend that fucks up cause he’s an idiot but immediately fixes himself to get his girl back) but we saw a more mature version of him that still felt like teenage evan we saw in the first book.

sophie annoyed me a little at the start but her overachieving mentality and her need to constantly prove herself to the elite that she’s always surrounded herself with turned out to be fundamental for the plot and her own character development so all things considered, it was a good book.

one thing that this series seems to lack is the interaction between all the main characters: it’s hard to think that they’re actually a friend group, considering that we have very few scenes of all of them together, but i’ll take what i can get.

this being said…desdemona sutton-knight, we can’t wait for you🎾👟🤍🥥

this is exactly the way sequels should be made in my mind. i've often wondered how these couples who were enemies or like these really dark romance couples end up panning out...now obviously i know it's fictional. but it is still fun to see the development and journey they go through.

in my review for the first book one of my quips is that we didn't get enough moments of just THEM like their pining, yearning, and how they straight up crave each other AHH. so im so glad she did this book and so happy i stumbled upon it cause i had no idea this was even in the works!!!

i could not put this book down and was completely sucked right back into this series. i couldn't even remember real life while reading this book, i was just completely immersed.

these characters were perfect to read about. so addicting. i think i rated there first book not even 3⭐️'s so obviously this one did something for me haha

i'm a lover for interconnected series that just keep going and going so i'm honestly here for the future books of what i assume will be about there kids

also this book fully convinced me my reading slump is not my fault its the books i've been trying to read lately's fault cause me and THIS book had no issues 😙🤣

ARC WAS PROVIDED BY THE AUTHOR.

okay first things first this book was amazing i miss sophie and my pathetic king evan BUT i’m gonna be honest there was something missing, i felt like the time jumping was a bit too much and sometimes i got confused, like i’d have to reread a page to figure out when we were, but don’t get me wrong, the emotional payoff was still there — some scenes hit hard —

also, the side characters or the “villains” were not good at least in my eyes, their arcs felt a little rushed or unresolved like i needed a lit bit of lore about them especially about the senator. that being said, aurora’s writing never EVER disappoints and there were so many quotes i highlighted that propaply make me look like a maniac.

overall i’m giving it 4.8 stars bc even with its flaws, it made me feel things and the ending?? i’m still not ready to say goodbye to them, would definitely recommend, especially if you love pathetic king evan knight 🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️.

I finally get to post my review. This book was everything, when I tell you the angst had me in pain, the first time i ever cried reading a sex scene. The pain and emotions that hang between Sophie and Evan finally started to unravel and all that came with it was years of longing and desperation mixed with a bit of fright and terror.

The tears I have shed, the snot bubbles I’ve blown. Thank you so much to Aurora for giving me the chance to be apart of your beta team. The final conclusion to the ones who started it all. My baby Sophie finally have her happy ending. We saw the growth in her and how she finally realized she is meant to be loved and the development in Evan was chefs kiss. My sweet babies will always be the light for me.

Turning away from this reminds me of one of the critical questions you asked in Spearcrest Knight

“𝘽𝙚𝙩𝙬𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝙎𝙤𝙥𝙝𝙞𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙀𝙫𝙖𝙣, 𝙬𝙝𝙤 𝙝𝙤𝙡𝙙𝙨 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙥𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙥𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧 𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙙?”

At the time I had said it was Evan because if the differences in social class but after reading this I have no idea. I started viewing the social class as just a construct to act as a instrument for Sophie’s inferiority complex around the rich kids because as we all know “knowledge is power” and Sophie has the most knowledge of them all and once she started using that she proved to be higher than all of them.

In the case of Evan however she always had the power, in the way she lead the relationship, she had this man foaming at the mouth ready to bark whenever she ask (the way you write man who simps for their women😭😭).

Sophie always had the power, she just didn’t realized it yet.

This is my first-ever review and ARC!!

First of all, we finally got a proper conclusion to Sophie and Evan’s love story. The angst, the heartbreak, and the jealousy… ooo, I ate it up in like six hours.

Evan Knight:
His character development from Spearcrest Knight to this book was amazing. I love him even more in this book; he was just perfect. The things he would do for Sophie, and he would quite literally worship the ground she walks on. This book definitely allowed him to grovel, and we love to see it.

“I’ll be your dirty little secret, Sutton. I’ll be whatever you want.” (Walk him like a dog, sis 🤭)

Sophie Sutton:
The literal queen she is! She is such a bad b, and I love her for it. The friendships she made along the way were so good, especially her friendship with Alice, which was so cute, and that revenge plan. As readers, we saw Sophie mature even more and become more honest about what she wants.

Extras: I GOT TO SEE MY BABY ANAÏS AGAIN!! The scenes with the whole friend group just warmed my heart. We barely saw the girls interact in the other books, and this book definitely delivered. Spearcrest Kings series is finally completed and I can’t wait for the second generation books 💞

ARC REVIEW!!

Firstly, once again thank you aurora for the arc. Thank you for bringing the people who started Spearcrest off back, because boy oh boy did they come back with a bang. the angst killed me several times (dare I say I almost cried may times) and just the pain was brutal. I love this whole universe with my entire heart and they mean so much to me.

Sophie is literally the hottest, cleverest and meanest women to walk the earth and I need her more than Evan. Shes the best girl ever and I love her so much.

Anyways were coming back soon with gen 2 and I already love them and have them all padlocked and oh, naming their daughter after a Othello character, insane work I love them sososososo much.

Thank you Aurora for the arc!!

ARC provided by the author in exchange of an honest review 🍂🎞💌🖋⏳

Y'ALLLLLL. If you now me, you know me I wasn't above begging to get my hands on this book.
When I first read Spearcrest Knight I was still in high-school, and, somehow, now that I'm in university these characters are STILL with me. Evan and Sophie have been on my mind often during these past few years, which is no small accomplishment considering the quality of romance books is tanking (and fast) and no character ever seems to stick with me lately.

"Spearcrest Queen" is the long-awaited sequel to "Spearcrest Knight", which - allow me to say - was a fucking amazing book for a debut. I'm not gonna lie and say I've loved all books in the series, but there were no spineless girls (FINALLY) and silly boys with just the right amount of cockiness and nastiness for it to be angsty and enjoyable. Aurora, thank you so much.

This book starts exactly where we left off: Evan and Sophie are finally together and about to enter the adult world. Now enter all the problems. The author felt like giving us this book because Spearcrest Knight was her first creation and not imagining it would be so loved it's also the only one that didn't get an epilogue, hence this book. Now, this is probably one of the few reasons why my rating isn't higher: it read too much like a really long epilogue rather than as a sequel book with a solid plot. It's definitely character driven, which IS good, and the pacing was just right, but there was so minimum plot that it just felt too long and too short at the same time. I just couldn't find myself interested in the whole Harvard drama going on with the spoiled rich brats, I truly just wanted to read about Evan being his pathetic (affectionate) self.
So yeah, overall solid good enjoyable book. It reads more like a really long epilogue, but you know what? I was glad in the end. I genuinely LOVE these characters. And we WILL be here for that second generation, can't wait to meet the new perfect golden girl of Spearcrest 💋.

CHARACTERS
→ EVAN 🎾💚👟🏊‍♂️📚
MY GOD. People was Evan this likeable in the first book too? Like I remember always loving him, but was he THIS GOOD? If the first book was all about Sophie then this one is all Evan: I've loved following his character development from lazy low self-esteem quitter to confident well-read publisher powerhouse entrepreneur.
I always skim books a little before I properly read them and I have to admit that I didn't get the Inkspill thing at first. After the first book, when the idea of this second one didn't even exist, I always thought they were moving to the USA together to be the campus perfect powercouple with Sophie acing law school and Evan being his usual puppy self but doing his own thing in sports. So at first this publishing house thing wasn't it to me, I just kept thinking that some people just aren't made to be academics and that if Evan was so good at sports WHY wasn't it his career? It would have been just as noble, considering all the sacrifices it can take. But but but, guys, I was so pleasantly surprised. I've loved the Inkspill chapters (much more than the Harvard ones) and Evan's coworkers slowly warming to him, the way he got to use his charm like Sophie suggested, and the plants schedule 😭🍎🤏, it's the little details really.
So in the end I was still very pleased Evan, this is kinda best boyfriend in the world if you think about it.
And aside from Desdemona (my actual goddaughter mind you) we still have three more kids that Aurora can make star tennis players on hard court (please. like PLEASE, lemme have this).

→ SOPHIE 👜☕🕰🤎📜
My avoidant attachment academic weapon though daughter. UGH.
As I said, this was Evan's book for me and I didn't like Sophbear as much as I did in the first book but she was still amazing. Look, as a law student myself I had to gloss over some descriptions because this was my free time from my commercial law text-book (I'm not sorry about this) but reading about this young woman is always enjoyable to me. Sophie at the start of the book is still the scared girl that barely made it out of Spearcrest alive and she's struggling to come to terms with the idea of her boyfriend seemingly being so above her league. He's not, of course, but I get where she's coming from and I love that the author truly wanted to show us how uncomfortable she was in accepting money she knew she couldn't give back yet and pricey gestures she couldn't reciprocate. It's so refreshing to read about girls that strive for something other than being trophy wives in these kind of books, and Sophie always checks all the boxes, that I'll leave to you with Evan's words 🥹:

“From the first time I ever met you, I looked at you and knew exactly what you were. Clever, resilient, competitive, prideful, repressed, detached. You want power, but you also want justice. You crave pleasure, but you like discipline. You’re loyal but never soft. You’re passionate, but you’re cold as ice. And you’re stubborn, unforgiving and self-destructive.”
Guys.

Wish I could have seen more of Zaro and Iakov by the way.

ROMANCE
I love these people I LOVE LOVE LOVE THESE people.
Evan and Sophie always deliver on the angst side and the build up until they finally let go is always so worth it. The story mainly revolves around this so I don't want to spoil too much and I'll just leave some of my favorite quotes for you <3

“Setting my glass down, I catch his face in both hands, pulling him down to me, the glossy black of my nail polish perfectly complementing his tanned skin. “Evan Knight,” I tell him. “You’re a very good date, you know.”
“I know. You should’ve dated me earlier.”

“Don’t worry, I’m still a cool kid,” Evan says, grinning. “I’m still a swimming champ and I’ve traded rugby for tennis, which is arguably cooler.”
“Less risk of brain damage,” I nod wisely.

I GIGGLED SO BAD.

“I had a great tutor.”
“You didn’t listen to a thing she ever said.”
“I hung on her every word.”
“You wasted her time with awkward flirting.”
“Awkward flirting?”I fall back onto the bed, “Says the girl who lured me here under the most transparent of pretences.”
“Evan!” she protests, cheeks flushing red, but she’s laughing now, her body relaxing on mine, thighs settling around my hips.
“I thought I was being quite cunning, actually.”
“Exactly. Cunning, clever girl.”

Every single Evan's endearment made me melt in a puddle and he just kept going.. gorgeous girl, clever girl, good girl, cunning girl, brave girl, naughty girl, sweet girl, arrogant girl and then LOVE... I just couldn't deal.

Arc Review!! ღ
I want to start off by thanking Aurora for the opportunity to read and review the arc.
It’s truly been a pleasure to see both Evan and Sophie grow up and find their way in life.
While Sophie had her struggles at Harvard she managed to excel at everything that’s been thrown at her.

Sophie’s such an interesting character that while being very confident in her abilities it was obvious that she somehow didn’t believe a rich boy like Evan could truly love her.
The same goes for Evan. While life handed him all the money he felt undeserving of a girl like Sophie.
Hence why I truly believed their time apart was necessary for them to become the best versions for each other.
The versions that could let the pain of what happened at Spearcrest and their insecurities behind to finally allow themselves to be happy as people who knew what they wanted in life.

I personally loved that both drew lines when they stood on business.
I have so much respect for Sophie for her willingness to have her heart broken just to achieve what she’s been dreaming of since she was a child while I also felt in awe of Evan’s development.

Truth be told, without the time apart Evan would’ve hung around her without a sense of direction for the future. Now he has a passion, something outside of Sophie, that brings him happiness and for him to stand on business when it came to their relationship eventually was super satisfying.

I loved all the scenes of the other Spearcrest characters and the fact that Sophie got to know them all how us readers knew them. I’m sensing a wonderful friendship between the all the girls in the future 😣

And hello, second gen!!! Count me so in!!

MY BABIES SOPHIE AND EVAN
The amount of times I cried in this book is endless the sadness the heartbreak ugh got me sobbing all through the book
My Sophie deserves all the love and happiness please it was so heartbreaking to see her sad and feel like she’s not enough
Sophie Sutton is such an wonderful character her personality is so complex I love that she’s so confident and I love she is so independent and does her best in anything and everything and doesn’t give up
I would say Sophie holds all the power in their relationship she leads

Evan my sweet precious man my heart broke for him
He would do anything for Sophie he would be there for her any second
He’s so fucking precious he loves Sophie so much I could literally feel it
He lets her hurt him because he’s so deep in love
I loved how his character developed too
He became more mature more responsible (Sophie is responsible for half of it)
He’s such a girlfriends boy it was so cute
He was so down bad in love with Sophie
Aurora writes boy obsessed trope so well cause all her mmc’s are so obsessed with their girls!

“I drove all the way here because I wanted to see you, my gorgeous, vicious love.”
He would do anything for Sophie I mean anything
The scene where they broke up literally shattered my heart
But them being separate made both of them grow stronger and finally could be happier and in a healthier relationship together

“I know you would,” he murmurs. “And I need you to listen to me, so hear me when I say this—” He tilts my chin up, forcing me to meet his gaze. “I will never hurt you. No matter what. You could tear me apart piece by piece, you could cut me down to nothing, and I’d still protect you. I’d still make sure no one ever laid so much as a fucking finger on you”
All the heartbreak was so worth it we could finally see Sophie and Evan so happy together
They make me so giddy I love them so much
Sophie would always be that girl I love from the bottom of my heart

Now the other couple cameo I loved it so much
My nerdy sexy Zach and his Theo ugh they are literally goals
Sev and Anais were so cutee!
Iakov Zahara and even Luca was mentioned in the epilogue made me so happy!!

SPEARCREST LEGACY I AM SO FUCKING EXCITED
I KNOW I AM GONNA DEVOUR IT
Just reading the blurb got me hooked can’t wait!

This review is based on an advanced readers copy.
Run, don't walk
warning: this is not merely a smut delivery system
This is a well written, angst filled, romance with DEPTH. I love how hard the author, Aurora Reed, makes things for Sophie and Evan. I love how much GROWTH they have to go through. And the slow burn is absolutely delicious (Evan is a very bad boy and Sophie Sutton isn't much better!)

This is a continuation of Sophie and Evans story in book one (Spearcrest Knight). Their relationship has always been extremely tumultuous and fraught and even though their story had a happy ending, things were still not quite settled.
Sophie is the overachieving scholarship kid who cannot believe she belongs in the spaces she's worked so hard to get into. Evan is the charming fail-son who is blindly obsessed with his girl and needs to grow up and be the man she deserves. Their passion for each other is strong, but there are painful insecurities between them that need to be addressed.

So instead of domesticated bliss and page after page of smut, we get heartache, yearning and more angst than I would have expected. Evan is at his aggressively simping best and Sophie is cracking the whip without mercy. We get a ton of character growth that leads both of them in surprising yet realistic directions. This book feels very REAL, and at the end of it I was so proud of our two babies.

I'm giving it an unreserved 5 stars because it deserves it, it's remarkably well written and caps off Sophie&Evans story in the most satisfying way. We also get a few cameos from the other Kings and their ladies which did my heart good.

MY FAVOURITE QUOTE: "What woman wouldn't enjoy absolute control? We're born to it. We suit it, unlike men"
WHAT A BANGER.

Thank you for the ARC, Ms. Reed.

This felt so fulfilling like wtf. I didn't like the ending of Spearcrest Knight, let's be for real. it felt like ignoring pain and struggles and everything that matters because people never move on from this long term of pain so easily. This one was fulfilling and I cannot wait to read the Legacy series.

I was sceptical about this book because the whole plot felt extra and pretentious but it was all Evan-Sophie at its finest and it did not feel as such in the book. It is beautiful and well-written and I absolutely loved it. It has the perfect amount of angst and resentment and these made actual sense.

Thank you for the ARC. I've been reading the Spearcrest series since 2023. I was so excited for this sequel!

It was so well written. This wasn't just a love story. Both characters had their own struggles and development. Sophie is a total badass. There's a part where she wants to take revenge and the way she does that is awesome. That was so interesting to read. I was totally highlighting that part!

Evan had his own struggle with his career choice. When he thought he was failing he got back up and tried again. Sophie's speech to Evan and encouraging him was also one of the highlights of the book!

🔸️Sophie's revenge
🔸️Evan making Sophie admit to wanting him
🔸️Sophie's speech to Evan
🔸️Seeing all the Spearcrest characters together towards the end 🥹

Of the entire series, Sophie and Evan were probably my least favorite couple, but I adored them in this book. I devoured it in less than 12 hours and was so invested in their story. Sophie and Evan's evolution as a couple and as individuals is very well written, and what happened only strengthened their relationship. I also loved the small appearances of the other couples and can't wait to return to Spearcrest Academy later this year with the second gen!!!

Was this necessary? Absolutely not. Did I enjoy it? Most of the time, yes.
I liked that they grew so much individually in this, they really needed to (cough cough EVAN), but something about their break up still felt unnecessary and spun out of nowhere.

IM SO EMOTIONAL FINALLY GETTING TO COME HOME TO MY SPEARCREST FAMILY 🖤

MY TOXIC BABIES EVAN AND SOPHIE 😭😭😭 Reading this finally gave me the closure and the ending I needed for their story.

It was everything: heartbreaking, angsty, heartwarming and most of all beautiful. Getting to see Sophie realizing she had the upper hand in their relationship was such a "FINALLY" moment, and Evan being a little simp for her low-key made me so incredibly giggly.

I wish I could write more but I'm still trying to recover from the roller coaster that was this book, so hopefully I'll update this review really soon.

Thank you SO SO MUCH to Aurora Reed for giving me the chance to read an ARC of this book! Thank you for being one of my favourite authors ever and writing this incredible series <3
