And I was having issues reading it and I almost stopped but I gave it a couple more chapters and the ending was amazing. I did cry at some of the angst around the 70% mark though. Alot. He was so clueless. But he had a hard childhood and something traumatic happened and he locked his heart away. I loved the heroine too. She fought for what she wanted once she figured it out but he still.was a jerk. Her sitting at the window waiting for him to return was heartbreaking. Really nice story. Its more like 3 1/12 stars nut that first part was just too.lacking.
3.5 stars…A story about a quick marriage to avoid scandal between an independent, strong-willed lady and an aloof and self-loathing duke. The duke lived elsewhere the first two years of the marriage, and then upon returning, Cordilia works very hard to connect as a couple with Michael, but because of the crosses he bears from his upbringing, he remains a staunch and querulous duke, and resists her every attempt. This foundation continues until the last section of the book, when the hero has his personal revelations and their HEA is achieved. I had difficulties envisioning the couple falling in love when they had limited interactions throughout most of the book. I didn’t feel the chemistry between them. Though the plot is a subdued, easy read story, it unfortunately was filled with numerous editing errors. These errors makes the story difficult to read, and squelches the easy flow for a reader. I also did not understand the book’s title. I received a complimentary ARC, but I am voluntarily offering my personal opinion.
Lovely read with a sweet storyline. Michael must get married to gain his inheritance. Cordelia must get married due to a scandal. Thrown together they struggle to find middle ground in their marriage. Fears keep Michael from committing to his marriage causing unwarranted heartache for them both. Highly recommend this book ,
I enjoy when characters grow It is fulfilling to see development in relationships. Cordelia is truly one of a kind. I really wanted to wallop her aunt and uncle. They were needlessly unkind in how they consistently and publicly berated her. I wish writers would allow the happiness to last awhile before ending their works.
I enjoyed this book very much. A forced marriage for Cordelia with Michael who could not forget his past and allow him to love Cordelia and stay with her. She had a lot of talents no one gave her credit for. I’m glad it worked out and I also liked the Extended Epilogue. Thanks for writing this book.
This was a very emotional story about child abuse and loss conquered by steadfast love. It's a hard story to read for all the emotion it invokes, but well worth the read. Highly recommended for most readers.
An exciting read! Always searching for the happy ending!
This book was a good and interesting read! I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series! You won't be disappointed. It's a very exciting read! And a great happy ending!!!
Excellent story. Fabulous characters. Great plot. This was well written, but had too much focus on the male character’s stern and ungiving face. Cleanly written, which I truly appreciate.
