When part-time 911 dispatcher and freelance writer Kim witnesses the brutal outcome of an MMA cage fight she thought she’d seen it all. But when the notorious outlaw biker club, The Soul Eaters show up and reward the victor with his new cut and membership in the bloodthirsty gang she can’t believe her eyes. Everyone has said the price of membership is the killing of another human being but she would have never believed it until that night. What was even more astonishing, what rocked her to the core was when she learned the identity of the victor.
Kim thought she had it all with her new boyfriend Sheriff’s Deputy Marc Long—that was until she met Seth, the ruthlessly handsome and violent member of the Soul Eaters. But the more she gets to know Seth the more she realizes there is so much more to the man than just the hardened gun-running criminal biker.
When Kim’s long lost brother literally explodes back into her life she is forced to reexamine everything she thinks she knows about the Soul Eaters MC and the extended family they protect. Can she reconcile her brother’s betrayal and accept who he has become or will she lose what’s left of her family, her heart—her Seth?
First book in the Soul Eaters MC novel series. Content suitable for mature readers, contains violence and sexual content.
I liked the plot a lot. The tension between the characters was really good but to be honest the passion was not there for me. I felt unsatisfied with the sex scenes and the ending. I liked the book enough that I would like to see the story continue but it needs a little more spice.
Seth and Kim meet when she is on assignment writing a story about MMA fighting. She discovers that her estranged brother, Caleb, is actually the fighter in the ring. He winds up killing his opponent and she witnesses Seth and his MC giving Caleb his cut right after the fight is over. Kim is dating Marc, a deputy sheriff and works part-time as a dispatcher. Kim was very juvenile most of this book and was so all over the place at points that I couldn't get past it. She is supposedly an expert at a form of martial arts, yet when called upon to help herself or others, she just stands there. She is dating Marc but going on dates and more with Seth before breaking it off. On top of all of that, she keeps saying how "evil" the club is over and over to the point that it was just old. At the end, she finds herself feeling a part of a family even though she abandoned her younger brother for 10 years and blamed him. I am sure this book will be good for many people to read, just wasn't my cup of tea.
