While mixing a variety of new elixers and concoctions in their shop, Lotions and Potions, under an April full moon, the three Killaney cousins are stunned by the mysterious arrival of three gorgeous men, one for each one of them, but the three women wonder if the passion is real, or the result of an intoxicating aphrodisiac designed to fulfill their erotic fantasies. Original.
Janice Maynard came to the writing life early! When her third grade short story, “The Princess and the Robbers”, won a red ribbon in a school arts fair, Janice was hooked. She followed up that early success with a more commercial piece in the sixth grade… “Why My Mom Loves To Drink Coke”. No advance for that one, but she won a six-pack of Coke… remember those great little bottles?
In junior high Janice began circulating her work to a wider audience. A dozen or so notebook pages stapled together made the rounds in some particularly boring classes, with the riveting tales carefully hidden behind textbooks.
High school meant the big time… editor of the school newspaper, the Maroon and White. Janice used her insightful editorials to delve into such meaty subjects as “locker room odor” and “why we need two-ply tissue in the student bathrooms”.
College brought lots of writing, but very little of it creative… four years later, Janice stepped into the adult world as a fully certified elementary teacher.
Despite motherhood, full-time employment, and keeping up with an “always into something” husband, Janice never lost her love of writing or the desire to be published. In 1996 she realized her long-time dream when Kensington Publishing bought her first book, Sweetheart. That exciting moment was followed by the sales of two more books in the Precious Gem line.
In the fall of 2002, Janice left the classroom to pursue writing full-time.
Janice has a way of writing anthologies that don't leave you feeling "cheated" like a lot of anthologies do. I have never felt that she rushes the stories or the romance between the hero and heroine.
This is another awesome book that I would highly recommend. She is one of my "must buy" authors as soon as her books are released.
OK, so I have to admit that I wouldn't normally have picked up this book but I was feeling particularly naughty on the day that I stopped by the library to pick up some others from my "to-read" list. As you can see by the cover, the book looks a little naughty. I'll let you know. This book is divided into three short-ish stories. Each focuses on one of three cousins who run a store called "Lotions and Potions". They have apparently concocted the perfect aphrodesiac lotion. The stories show how this new lotion works on the men in each of their lives. This book has no shortage of smutty sex discriptions. I don't know if I can tolerate reading the whole book. It all seems the same to me. I was right. The second story was the same as the first. Even the same seduction tactics. I couldn't possibly waste any more time on this book. I'm not one to put a book down especially if I am that far into it, but I just couldn't do it. Started:2/4/08 Finished:2/5/08 pps:read 126 of 265
Diana's dad was a womanizer after her mom died so she doesn't trust men. The local high-end mechanic is from a podunk town in KY and has something to prove. Elizabeth is almost 40 and wants a future family. She meets a Hollywood location scout and is smitten until she find out he's only 29. Jeannie's gorgeous and almost a phD which no one notices until a shy scientist in khakis says he's been dreaming of her every night after only seeing her once. Could all this be explained by the human pheromone lotion they've created for their shop? Review
By the summary I thought this book would have been paranormal (talk of special potions and whatnot) but it's definitely not. I changed it to the romance category, so don't expect any witching in the stories. However it is cute and fun with sexy hunky men. The three stories are about three cousins who find themselves some delicious men. All three stories are sweet and steamy, which makes for a fun, quick read!
Blah...this is like 3 mini-Harlequin romances with hotter love scenes. I thought this was going to be more of a supernatural type read and I was wrong. Those who like a good, dirty romance will enjoy it I suppose.
I really really like the 3rd story i dream of jeannie i thought he was so cute being all shy and everything .. Overall love the stories and the cousins. good quick read
