I've been a reader all my life, starting out with fairy tales and graduating to reading everything in the house when I grew older, including my parents' romances, mysteries, science fiction, fantasy, and action/adventure.

If a writer can combine romance and humor with a fantasy, science fiction, or paranormal element, I'm hooked. Add action/adventure, and it's even better!

Since I couldn't find quite enough books that combine these elements, I sat down to write some of my own. The result is the books you'll see on my website.

I now live in Colorado with my three dogs: Mo, Daisy and Trixie.

Pseudonyms: Pamela Luzier (Fantasy genre) and Parker Blue (Young Adult urban fantasy genre).

To be blunt, I hated this book, pretty much from the beginning. I think it's probably that I hated the main character. I found her annoying, unbelievable, and of poor character.

I wanted to stop reading right away, but I hate not finishing a book. You never know when the book might turn around. For me, this one just never did.

Given my reaction to this book, it's unlikely I'll read anything else by this author.

Couldn't finish this book, but I really wanted to like it

This book could've been hysterical. A woman is set to marry her second husband of the day her presumed-dead first husband resurfaces. it sounds like the perfect setting for an outlandish, hysterical, fluffy piece of escape literature. Unfortunately, the whole plot of this book centers around the main character being terrified is being called a polygamist, and thus being forced to hide out with both her husbands so as to avoid the waiting paparazzi. This is a sloppy, heavy-handed way of keeping the characters all together in a hotel. It simply doesn't work because her situation is easily explained. There is no basis for the soul crushing fear that plagues this woman. There are funny scenes in this book, but not enough to keep me reading past 80%. I understand that the goal was to emulate a screenplay, but there had to be a more realistic way of keeping these characters together. Even a zombie attack would have been more believable.

I seriously hate to give bad reviews but sometimes it just can't be helped. On the plus side, I was somewhat entertained by this comedy of errors. There were parts that made me laugh but that was mostly due to the pure absurdity of the situation. There weren't any glaring grammatical errors which is a big pet peeve of mine. But everything went downhill from there.

The gist of the story is girl's husband is lost during a plane crash in some remote jungle. Girl marries husband #2. Husband #1 returns from the dead on girls wedding day. Are you with me so far? Seems like a good premise for a good love -angle. But this is where the insanity begins.

Spoiler alerts from here on:

1- girl marries husband #2 in the morning and has funeral for husband #1 in the afternoon of the same day. Who does that? Why not bring the casket to the wedding chapel and have a two for one service?!! Smh. I should've deleted the book right there.

2- Husband #1 shows up to his own funeral. Not only is this the most overused gambit but how did he get there and who told him where the funeral would be? How does he have money and transportation without family or government influence or ID or reporters stalking him?

3- when husband #1 is released from the jungle and his captors he doesn't immediately return home. Instead he decides to finish the job he started to do when he was captured five years earlier in the same location. Sure. That makes sense. If I were held hostage for five years the first thing I would want to do upon my release would be to go to work. Family friends lawyers criminal charges all that can wait until after the job is done.

4- while at his funeral husband #1 speaks only to his wife. Tons of people are gathered there to pay respects to him; possibly including his parents siblings coworkers and friends but he ignores them all and sneaks out of the funeral home to follow ex-wife to meet husband #2

5- after being held hostage for five years husband#1 shows little sign of Post traumatic syndrome and is anxious to return to extreme lifestyle of traveling to dangerous foreign places. He shows little concern over being separated from the wife he claims to want to reconcile with

Most of what I just described happened in the first chapter. The book becomes more and more ridiculous the further along you read. If this still seems interesting to you feel free to read the book. There are more plot twists but nothing too unpredictable in my opinion. There are many more characters thrown into the mix and a happy ending if you could call it that. Although the ending is more far-fetched than anything I have ever seen in any book

I think I'm done. Like many others said, it had a promising synopsis. It absolutely could have been funny and interesting, but the author fell flat. It's too predictable at this time. And I agree with another rater: they seemed more horny than in love.
Which is sad. I'm actually more lenient on books usually... but I found myself wishing I could rewrite every scene to cause the audience some suspense.
Luckily, this was free. I only read 45% of the book and that was basically, lazily forcing myself.

Cute Twist to a Couple of Old Movies.

I loved the two movies that came before this book, but you left out the kids , and nobody can perform in this movie like Doris Day and Rock Hudson, and Chuck Connors (who played the stranded castaway with Doris Day), in the second film version that this book is loosely based on. It's always been a great movie, and I believe the twists in this book would be great for a movie based on this different perspective of the originals. The brother in this story got to provide most of the comic relief, and was a brilliant addition (I picture Evie's bumbling, greedy brother from "The Mummy"--Jonathan.. The snooty mother needed a bigger role. Also, the snow season was a nice way to get away from the summer island theme. I really think that everyone should've wound up in front of the magistrate for a few extra laughs towards the end. Also, a renewal of the wedding vows would've been a nice way to emphasize the renewal of their vows, followed by a cut away to some "Indiana Jones" type of good, old fashioned, archeological mayhem with the two reunited lovebirds, for more levity, and possibly a lead-in to a book, a movie or a television sequel... Think Peter Sellers in "The Pink Panther" humor complete with inept archeological assistants, and terribly funny verbal and visual misinterpretations with some of the locals, leading up to a chase into the sunset...

I read some of the reviews they weren’t that great but I decided to read it anyway, I’m sure glad I did.

Ihad so much fun reading this book, I wanted a laugh out loud kind of book, and this book made me laugh, I loved all the characters they were funny in there own way. What can I say about Chaz, the first husband, you could not help but to root for him to win Kelly's heart, then you kind of feel sorry for Spencer because he is not a bad guy. Kelly's brother Scott was so funny he had me laughing the most, I am so glad that he will have his own story and I cannot wait to read it and see what has become of him.
Happy Reading

This book was so much fun reading! Who gets married to one husband and buries another on the same day? Well Kelly does. What she did not plan on is her "deceased" husband showing up alive to his own funeral! When you think things cannot get worse for Kelly you are proved wrong. There were so many funny twists and turns that I was hook! I was rooting from the beginning for her first husband, Chaz to win her back. He was definitely My Favorite Husband!

I would highly recommend this book!

Each book genre has its own nuance and characteristics. I'm a fan of romance novels, the more happy ending the better, and I believe that working on a comedy book is one of the most difficult things.
This book was recommended to me by some website that honestly I don't remember which one it was. It's not a new book, it's from 2003, or maybe older. But I got absolutely hooked on reading it, and I couldn't put it down until I had finished it.

I read some reviews AFTER I read the book (which was great because the reviews weren't good at all). But do you know what? I loved the book!

Is it an absurd comedy? Yes. Is it a comedy of errors? Absolutely, but it's fun like few others.

The story was based on an old movie, My Favorite Wife (1940 - Cary Grant & Irene Dunne). I confess I haven't watched the movie, but it's already on my list.

Kelly lives a day of joy and sadness.
Joy because she is marrying a co-worker, Spencer, who has been supportive of her the last few years, and even helped her get a promotion at work.
Sadness because on the same day (and this is bizarre, but it's part of the comedy) she will say goodbye to her husband in an absentee ceremony.
It turns out that Chaz, who was an archaeologist, disappeared in the Amazon rainforest after the plane crash. His body was never found. Five years later, the State pronounced him dead, and now she was free to remake her own life, having spent all her savings trying to find him.
At the time of the supposed funeral, Chaz himself appears. He had been captured by a tribe, got sick and was held captive. Now, Chaz wants to regain the life he thought he lost, and the wife who just married someone else.

300 pages of confusion with crossed loves, paparazzi, and a brother-in-law (Scott) who wouldn't miss it for the world (he's the BEST!!!)
Remember: this is a book for laughing, not looking for holes in the plot.

Do not waste your time on this book. I have a pretty hard time dropping a book I've begun, or I wouldn't have wasted my time either. The genre was listed as romantic comedy and the synopsis sounded interesting. It turns out to be a screwball comedy with ridiculous and underdeveloped characters. In short, a woman's husband of three years disappears in the Amazonian jungle. After five years, she has him declared dead and marries a co-worker with whom she has supposedly fallen in love. The day of her wedding, she also has a memorial service for husband number one. He miraculously shows up at his memorial service. From there the story goes to hell in a handbasket. The plot is unbelievable, ridiculous, and moves so fast that it seems choppy. Most of the dialogue melts into melodrama or whining. My biggest problem with the plot is that the heroine and hero of the story aren't so much in love as they are just horny. There are several pages of overly explicit sexual drivel. The author could have done so much more with this plot line! One star for the idea. I'm quickly deciding to stay away from the chick lit category.

Romantic Comedy with great characters that appear in future books.

A few hours after marrying her co-worker, Spenser Preston, Kelly Richmond Vincent Preston attends the funeral service for her first husband, Chaz Vincent, only to witness Chaz's live appearance as the service ends. After 5 years in captivity and declared dead is Kelly still married to Chaz or married to Spenser?
Getting to choose who is her favorite husband presents a lot of humor filled situations.

omg what a stupid book. i can't believe i wasted my time on such garbage. if you're gonna write a book, make it a little believable... just a little bit. if you're into ridiculous books, and if you're into reading the same things over and over and over, this is for you. my god i never seen such repetitive writing in my life. this isnt even worth one star!

I found this book for free using bookbub.com. It was fine as a free read or for checking out from the library. It was very unbelievable but I think the author was looking more to be humorous and there were definitely parts that made me laugh. If you are looking for a deep read, there isn't much meat to this one. For a light read, this is a fine choice.

I chose to read this book because the description sounded interesting to me. The first thing I thought is who would have a wedding and funeral on the same day?! Crazy right!
Parts of the book were very hectic and all over the place but it was a very amusing book. If you're looking for an easy book to read that's kind of silly and not at all difficult to get into then this could be a good one.

If you like your rom coms over the top and in your face, then give this book a go. It's based on a Cary Grant movie, and I can easily visualise these scenes playing out on a screen.

It just wasn't really my cup of tea.

What a cute contemporary romance! I can see this as a Hallmark movie. It's quirky and fun with interesting characters. Kelly's getting remarried! Her wedding day should be blissful until her presumed dead husband shows up for the funeral that the same day.

This story was uncessarily long with no direction. Unfortunately this is a direct rip off of "The Perfect Wife" Directed by Garson Kanin in 1940

My Favorite Husband is a romantic comedy by Pam McCrutcheon. This is a hilarious novel about the unlikely occurrence of a bride having two real husbands.
On what should be the happiest day of her life, Kelly Richmond was not having a good day. The only one who knew how she felt was her brother Scott. Her mother, Claire, was too excited about the wedding to pay attention to Kelly. Today, Kelly was to marry her business partner, Scott Vincent and leave for her honeymoon. Between the time she married him and left for her honeymoon, she was going to bury her first husband. Even though he had been missing for five years and had been declared legally dead, she was having second thoughts. Scott told her he would back her in any decision she made. She decided to get married.
After the ceremony, Scott left for the hotel and she left for the funeral of her first husband. Chaz’s family was there and had changed the ceremony to suit themselves. Kelly just went along with it; but kept her right to say a few words. Several others did the same and as they started on with the ceremony, a voice from the past came to haunt Kelly. It was Chaz and he was home and alive! Was she still married to him?
To straighten things out and tell Scott about Chaz, Kelly heads to the hotel accompanied by Scott and Chaz. However, she can’t find the words to tell him so gets her own room on the same floor. Scott and Chaz do the same. What they don’t know is that Chaz’s guide on his misadventure in South America was also there claiming to be pregnant with Chaz’s baby. With her were her two burly brothers. What else can happen?

I was bored.

Chaz is selfish, cocky, and childish. He is a thrill seeker. He lies by omission and he lies using technicalities.

Chaz is the guy you date for fun but in the back of your mind you know that there isn’t any future; so you have your fun with the man-child for awhile and then move on to an adult relationship. Unfortunately for Kelly, she married this man-child. Chaz took her for granted during their marriage and didn’t see any problem with his selfishness. Kelly spent their marriage being happy when they were together and miserable when he would leave on one of his many adventures.

I felt sorry for Kelly because the trajectory of the story made it obvious in the first few chapters that she would want Chaz; so there is no suspense regarding who she would choose in the end.

Spencer is sweet, patient, handsome, elegant, and kind. Spencer is an adult.

The Kelly/Chaz s3x was ok but the steam factor was meh. There are many many better writers who know how to write smoking hot s3x, so if that is what you want don’t waste your time on this book.

If you want rom com chick-lit with meh s3x then you will like this book.

No condom use, no discussion about safe s3x.

Candace is the lucky girl who got a man. Kelly got the man-child.

My Favorite Husband (Romantic Comedy Duo, #1) — Pam McCutcheon (18 chapters) November 1-2, 2021

So, here I am following a sad (in the way of no character growth and similar theme) series with another one that feels a twinge bit misogynistic and at times downright condescending. But the guy does change in this one. And he grows. There are five characters in this book, but it really comes down to two, as the writing is focused on them the most.

Chaz died in an accident, or so his wife Kelly is led to believe. Spencer is the rebound but acts more like he re-branded Kelly in his image and that image is not fully hers…but as the story unfolds I am led to believe it is more one-sided. Rounding out the cast is Kelly’s bro Chaz and Chaz’s hanger-on, Amalia.

Kelly marries Spencer in the morning and buries Chaz in the afternoon until Chaz shows up very much alive.

The plot that follows after is who does Kelly decide on…an image Spencer created, or the inner adventurer that Chaz brings out in her.

A decent read that I am not sorry to have sent time with. Take my rating with a grain of salt. It was A-OK. And that’s not a bad thing.

Two stars.
