Racing hearts, Toe curling kisses, Sexy whispers…

Decker Brand has spent the past four years earning back his man-card. He’s got the calloused hands, the dirty jeans and the toned body to show for it. Now that he’s satisfied with whom he is he intends to stay true to himself even if it means remaining alone.

April Maddox thought she’d lucked out when she found her prince at the early age of sixteen. Unfortunately, their kiss turned him from king to croaker right before her eyes.

When it comes to relationships, they say timing is everything, and everything has its time.

History has played a part in Decker’s and April’s desire to give up on love. Fate will bring them together. It’s up to them to battle the outside forces, life’s interruptions, and daily dramas… together. With a little faith, they can undo everything that’s been…

I am a wife, a mother, a daughter, a sister, a friend,a reader, a writer, and a self proclaimed comedian. (Just not always in that order.)

I have loved reading ever since I was a little girl, in fact one of the first series I remember falling in love with was the Sweet Valley High series by Francine Pascal. Those books started my obsession with series/related books.

Writing has always been a passion of mine and I feel blessed to have the opportunity to put on paper the stories I've dreamed up in my head.

I can't wait for you to meet my "friends" in the Charistown series as well as in my other books. I have fallen in love with each and everyone of them and I think you will too.

Some fun facts about me....If I could only have one food for the rest of my life - it would be french fries! I love them! I also love Godiva Raspberry Truffles. Ok, enough about me.

I hope to hear from you soon,
Lisa

When life hands both Decker and April lemons, it takes them both their own sweet time to start to make lemonade. But all that is about to change when Decker finally works up the nerve to say more than a few words to the woman that has held his attention for weeks. But what they don’t yet realize is just how similar their pasts are. Both wanting something more but not willing to risk the hurt it could cause to the loved ones in their lives, but love doesn’t happen at the perfect timing... it happens when it happens and as long as these two don’t throw roadblocks in its way, they’ll finally get the happily ever after they both always wanted.

This was my first read by Lisa N. Paul and I really think the blurb for this story does not do it justice. I went into this story with little to no knowledge and probably would have overlooked this particular title just based on the blurb alone, had a review opportunity not arose.

I adored the story. Even with April making want to grab her by the shoulders and give her a few good shakes (or twenty); I could still fully understand where she was coming from. I think a lot of authors forget to explain the insecurities of their heroines and it often leaves the reader just annoyed rather than us finding a way to see through it all, to understand it and still embrace the character. I think Ms. Paul pulled that off completely. April was at times trying... but I just knew that she had her reasons for it and I understood it and in the end could not fault her for her slow approach to grasping onto her happiness. I wanted to throttle her ex and then I wanted to smash his head in with a rock. Multiple times.

Decker was pretty much perfect. I loved the interactions with the “other characters” and how he knew when to push and when to hold back with April. I loved that he knew what he wanted and wasn’t so damaged from his own past.

In the end, this was a really sweet romance that is much, much more than what the blurb leaves you to believe. I enjoyed this low-drama romance and it left me with a sugary sweet feeling in the end that just reminds me why I love this genre so much.

I want my own Decker Brand!!! It's official forget book boyfriend because Decker Brand is book husband material. Yes, ladies if you want the sweet, family oriented, sexy, funny, and the total package of a guy then look no further than to get swept off your feet by Decker in Lisa N. Paul's newest release, Blocked!!

#blockedLisa

Blocked was one of those books that will leave you smiling once you finished reading the book. I was completely smitten on how sweet, romantic and swoon-worthy this book was. Ms. Paul was able to incorporate romance and a bit of comedy into the storyline allowing readers to fall in love with the different and unique personalities of Deker, April, and their beloved family members.

Having been burned and left by her ex-husband while pregnant, April Maddoxx has lived her life that was solely focused on her son. For years, her heart has been guarded and honestly she didn't want to get hurt since she thought she had the HEA when she was married. The life of a single mother changed when she met the HOT GUY at the gym who practically swept off her feet. This "hot guy at gym" aka Decker Brand was everything that April was attracted to. He was sweet, funny, and sexy as sin.

Decker Brand is a single father who lost his wife due to a car accident. Though his marriage was not perfect, he deeply cared for his wife and took on his new role as father seriously. Decker's life revolves on his work, family and of course his baby girl, Charlie. So when Decker meets the sexy and beautiful April, this single dad makes it his mission to make April his. As Decker and April enter into this new relationship, they try to learn on how to balance and take into account of their kids. For so long these two have blocked any notion of finding love, so can they finally get their shot at a second chance of love and happiness?

So if you are looking for a fun, sweet, sexy and romantic read then I highly suggest you read BLOCKED by Lisa N. Paul. Ms. Paul will definitely leave a big fat smile on your face when you read the epilogue. So ladies, get ready to meet your next book husband!!!

"He played every game, knew every trick, and saw through all sorts of bullshit yet never once had he come across a woman that was so brutally honest."

"I intend to ravish you like the starved man that I've become. Goddamn, April, the pleasure of having your sweetness convulse around me while my name tears from your throat, that's been MY fantasy."

Oh Decker, my sweet and sexy Decker. I was lucky enough to have been able to BETA this amazing book and it is one you must read!
This story was so different from anything I've read. It was refreshing, sexy, witty, sweet, heartbreaking and just simply a beautiful book.
It took a turn I didn't see coming and that turn made this story so much more relatable. It was a touching tale of loss, love, family, breaking down walls and so so much more! If you're looking for something new and and fresh, this is the book for you!!

"So much goodness can rise from the worst devastation, April. One just needs to believe in the possibilities."

Fun, sexy, and real relatable characters. This book was an experience to read. You feel every single emotion the author attempts to pull you through. The characters are well developed, the plot is refreshing and realistic, and Lisa N. Paul's sense of humor shines through the entire story. There were times I found myself giggling out loud.
The main characters (Decker and April) have both experienced the worst in relationships before they first meet. Their relationship grows and the sexual tension is pure perfection. This is a book you DO NOT WANT TO MISS OUT ON!

I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for a review.
This book is a little different than my normal read, not a lot, but enough that it was a concern to a few that i would even like it.
The author carried it, owned it and made it something i would LOVE even when its outside my normal realm. I absolutely love this book.
Decker Brand and April Maddox have both been burned before, in different ways, but burned none the less. So you have 2 people that have come from past relationships that leaves A LOT to be desired. They each carry their own weights and issues.... though i really have to say, the "issues" aren't all that bad and are dealt with fabulously.
Decker, ~ what can i say ~~ he's HOT HOT HOT !!! Super sexy, sweet, caring, tall, dark and handsome, he's definitely got it all and then some. He has an ex from hell (i really cant stand his ex) but there is so much more to his past that i really cant give away ~ so i'll leave it at that.
April is an awesome female character. I'm not fond of most women in books, and to be honest, she got on my last nerve for an extremely brief period of time, but it was an understandable reason and she redeems herself beautifully, and on the whole she's an amazing woman. Beautiful, smart and funny as hell. I love her sense of humor. It reels you in and you cant help but love her. She has an ex you just want to bury in your back yard, after repeatedly hitting over the head with a shovel.
They both feel the attraction instantly, and take their time bringing it full circle. They both do things that are stupid but they both have the common sense and decency to realize when they have messed up.
Again, i cant give too much away.
The characters are so well written, and you fall in love with them both right away, first separately and then as they become a couple. They have amazing senses of humor and mesh so well together. The sides characters are awesome and are written so well. They fall into the story well and make the relationships flow. I for one really need to see a bit more of August and Ford. preferably naked, but hey i'll take what i can get. The spelling and grammar are spot on, and considering i received a copy that wasn't ready for the public eye ...that says a lot because i still really found no mistakes.
I know this one made the author quite nervous to present, but i can honestly say its an amazing read and i'm so proud of this author.
I would absolutely recommend this Author and this book

What an absolutely fun and sexy read this was. Lisa N. Paul ("Paul") once again delivers a story of true romance that leaves you longing for more. There's none of the "insta-love" crap here. Instead, it's a well-written story of two people who begin a relationship that develops into love over a period of time. The sexual tension and heat that Decker and April have is off-the-charts sizzling hot. (Oh, how I loved Decker, a man who knows how to use his hands at work, and more importantly on a woman.) Both Decker and April were once in relationships that ended very badly for them. However, the minute they see each other and then finally meet, it's as though they've both finally found their true love. The author really shines when it comes to creating a beautiful and meaningful relationship that feels as real as it can be. Even after a failed relationship, Decker knows he wants a relationship with April and will do whatever it takes to have a future with her, even if that means taking it slow. April may have moved on with her life after her failed relationship, however, she still harbours such insecurities that it's has kept her from dating for years. When April gets to know Decker, only then does she realize that she wants a loving relationship with him and that maybe this time she won't end up getting hurt. I totally understood all of April's insecurities, but like other readers mentioned, her negativity became a little tiresome. I wanted to shake her, yell at her to wake the hell up. It wasn't all smooth sailing as they did hit a couple of bumps along the way. There to support them were their siblings, whom I thought were terrific, especially Decker's brother, Ford. I loved the Epilogue; however, my only wish was that it could've been a little longer. Somehow the author has you falling in love with Decker all over again. I could go on but I don't want to give away much more. Just read it.

I love, love, love Decker. I know I've already said this, but it's worth repeating. He's sexy as hell, leaving you breathless at times. I know I'll be dreaming of him tonight.

"Blocked" is a novel that I highly recommend. Honestly, if you haven't read any other works by Paul, you are truly missing out on some great reads. And trust me when I say you'll fall in love with Decker, and all the other heroes in her books.

Note: March 10th, 2015 - The Kindle version of "Blocked" is on sale right now for $0.99. What a steal! Don't miss out on this great deal.

FIVE FUNNY AND SEXY STARS!

Lisa N Paul is a natural comedian who’s humor and sparkling personality comes through in her writing. Yes, Blocked is a sexy as shit romance but it’s also hilarious.

Our heroine April is a fighter who had some crappy guys in her life (namely her ex-bobble-head-loving-asshole-of-a husband), so when she meets sexy Decker at the gym, she’s all about taking it slow. She’s been through hell with her ex and giving her heart to another guy isn’t part of her plan.

She never planned on the instant camaraderie and mutual attraction she feels for the hot guy who's been scoping her out for weeks.

But Decker…sigh…his is so hot and sweet and yummy that you just want to eat him up. The best part? He’s a GOOD GUY. He’s not cocky or an asshole like some of the heroes I’ve read lately. Nope, he will warm your little heart from the beginning even as he smiles at you with that sexy ass grin.

One of my favorite parts of this story was the family dynamics I saw within each of their situations. Lisa has a way of creating these larger than life characters that sometimes you want to hug but other times you just want to slap. Case in point: April’s mother and Decker’s brother. Lisa is all about the giggles and there’s plenty of those when these characters start in with their shenanigans.

In the end, you will fall in love with this story and the characters…from the delicious descriptions to the sexy times—cause there are some steamy moments.

This is a book I will tell all my friends about…because it’s the whole package. I’ve already told my mom, my hairdresser, the lady at Kroger, my dentist, my mailman…haha, you get the picture. Strong (non-doormat) heroine…check; hot-as-hell hero with a heart of gold…check; naughty times that are off the charts steamy yet funny…check; and one fabulous writing style that will keep you glued to her every word.

Barricaded. Closed Off. Hindered. Prevented.

All of these terms hold the same stymied meaning, and for April Maddox and Decker Brand, memories of their past relationships, wrecked feelings, and putting others before themselves have deterred them from moving on, holding on to the pain that shredded their lives. But with a little help, luck, and a leap of faith, April and Decker try to permeate the walls wrapped around each other’s hearts and open up to the potential that each other could bring to their lives.

I absolutely loved this book! Not only are the main characters vividly portrayed and their complexity examined fully but the honesty and realism that surrounds April and Decker’s story is something that captured my mind and my heart from the very beginning.

The devastation April faced after her scumbag of an ex left her while pregnant and in dealing with being a single mother for numerous years clearly illustrates the emotional torment that any woman in a situation like hers would feel. Lisa N. Paul takes April through the ups and downs of a woman who is holding onto her pain far too tightly and takes her in a direction that allows April to slowly loosen her hold, fighting with herself and those around her to stop cutting herself off to any happiness, especially the one standing in front of her offering her the world.

Decker Brand is 100% swoonworthy. He’s strong, protective, and one hell of a fantastic single father. His relationship with his wife before her death was not ideal, but he always gave everything he had to her and his baby girl. Decker’s baggage is just as heavy as April’s, but, most of the time, he feels ready to move on with April and unfetter himself from his memories, but he knows April’s blockage may take a bit more work. Good thing he’s willing to fight for the woman who completes him in a way he never imagined having.

Blocked is an absolutely gem of a read. It’s humorous, romantic, infuriating, and passionate. The buildup of Decker and April’s relationship is perfectly drawn out and the stops and starts as well as road blocks that seem to get in their way along the path to coupledom as well as creating a family with April’s son, Elijah, and Decker’s daughter, Charlie, clearly show how difficult a past riddled in pain and heartache can be freed by the right person.

Deckerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr I love you!!!

I’ve been a fan of Lisa N Paul’s since I read the first sentence on Thursday Nights. If she wrote me her grocery list, I’d read it. But seriously, Lisa knows how to write a love story. She sucks the reader into the story where I felt like her characters were my friends.

Decker and April have lived a life before meeting each other and not an always easy one. But they are determined to do better the second time around in love. Decker is an owner of a construction company where he can’t sit behind a desk and loves to be in the mix of the action. His first wife couldn’t understand that desire.

April is a sweet school teacher whose high school sweetheart husband couldn’t keep it in his pants. She will fight to never have that feeling again. She will protect what is important to her.
This story had all the feels for me but most importantly, it had laughs. I seriously laughed out loud, getting looks from my family, laughed while reading some scenes. The sexual tension between these characters could be felt throughout the whole story.

Bravo Lisa for giving us another amazing story that I will think about for months. This sexy, funny read should not be missed.

Blocked Lisa N. Paul
Blocked by Lisa N. Paul
Adult Contemporary standalone
Sweet, sexy, and funny, Blocked by Lisa N. Paul was just a pleasure to read. Lisa approached me a while back, asking be to read an early copy. Because of Wicked Book Weekend, I wasn't able to give it a read back then, but I'm so glad I got to it by now. She had mentioned she was worried because it wasn't erotic. I don't know, I thought it was pretty damn hot, and had she not mentioned anything to me beforehand, I never would have realized that there weren't in-depth sex scenes, because the chemistry and teasing and descriptions of what would or did happen throughout the book was hot as hell.

April is a single mom. At 8 months pregnant, the man she thought she was happy with, up and left her for another woman, never to be in touch again. For 5 years, April's entire focus, outside of teaching middle school, was raising her adorable son as a single mom. She would never take the chance of bringing in anyone into her son's life that might hurt him by leaving, and therefore rarely opened herself up to new people.

Decker is a single dad, and co-owner of a construction company with his brother. His wife and he had some major problems in their marriage before she passed away in a car accident. He has dated, but hasn't found anyone he was interested in enough to take him away from his daughter more than once.

When April's meddling 'means-well-but-is-really-a-bitch' mom gets her a gym membership (because no man wants flab, of course), she sees the hot Decker, and the two check each other out for weeks before Decker finally makes his move. Even then, April ("Dimples") and Decker ("Super hot gym guy") take it super slow, becoming friends first. But the tension is there...building. Boy it is there!
"I'm a pretty creative man, dimples," he murmured as he pulled her tighter, lifting her chin so her eyes met his. "And it just so happens thoughts of getting you dirty turns me on."

April has so much insecurity from both her mom (scary how much she is like mine!) and her ex, that is causes a lot of hesitancy on her part. A few times I wanted to jump in and yell "Do you see that guy??? If you don't take him, I will, because he is sexy, likes to get dirty, sweet, and is a great father!"

Being single parents, it's not easy to have any alone time without it getting blocked by the kids, so their relationship progresses slowly, making this one of the more realistic books I've read (though Decker is a bit too swoony to be real!). But there was some HEAT!
"When we get up to my place, April, every hot kiss, every touch, every look we've shared up 'til this point will be like a spark compared to the inferno I intend to unleash the moment I get my hands on you. Do you understand what I'm saying, beautiful? We are going to burn together, and I can't fucking wait."

Blocked Lisa N. Paul

The side characters in this story, especially each of their brothers were awesome, and I'd love another story about each of them! But my favorite characters were the adorable kids.
"No whites and no dents, Mommy. I miss seeing them."

Likes:

•Amazing character development.
•A slow and steady relationship development.
•Normal people (no rock stars, bikers, billionaires, step siblings, Doms)
•Parents dealing with all of the things that we have to worry about as parents.
•The side characters were awesome.
•Just sexy enough.
•For readers of her Charistown series: You will have visits from those characters, but it is completely not necessary to read first, it's just a bonus.
•Many funny moments.
•Cute kids that make you smile.
•Decker is hot as hell!
•A nice, easy, sweet, mostly angst free read.
•The point of view that Lisa writes in is a very close 3rd person. I was halfway through the book when I even realized that I wasn't even reading a first person book, especially because there is still a POV change from hers to his even though it is 3rd person. So I was making notes, and one of them was the easy to follow POV switches, when I realized it was because both POV's were told from a 3rd person.

Dislikes:

•The sneak peek chapter at the beginning. I couldn't get into it, and was worried at first, but ended up skipping it just to start at the beginning.
•I waited a while to review it, and the story didn't stick in my head that much, I needed to re-read a bunch to write the review.

 Rating: 4.5 stars, 3.75 Heat

The Down and Dirty:
Blocked by Lisa N. Paul is a sweet, funny, sexy story about a couple of burned-before single parents of young kids. It was a pleasure to read about good parents and the struggles a single parent faces. Lisa writes amazing side characters, and has very good story and character development. Decker is totally swoon-a-licious, I don't think any woman could resist him. I hope Lisa writes more about some of the side characters!

"Cock-blocked by the kids again." August chuckled. "Remind me not to have children, like ever."

Sometimes moving on means allowing yourself to actually let go of the hurt from the past. Because holding on to it will block you from finding the happiness you truly do deserve.

This is the story of April Maddox and Decker Brand's rocky road towards love, including the past experiences that scarred them. They are now older, stronger, more aware of their own needs and know what is truly important in life. But they are also out of practice at flirting, dating, and relationships. Their interactions are witty and fun. Their insecurities and dating adventures are endearing. It is realistic seeing them try to fit dating into their busy lives while also dealing with daily commitments, trust issues, and past demons. She is guarded with big walls up for protection. He has his own past issues that rear their ugly head. But they both have important obligations and an understanding about each other's daily life. And they also both have families and friends that love to offer their opinions.

Decker is sexy, sweet, protective, caring, funny, and respectful. He is downright hot and swoony! And she is sweet, kind, insecure, but can also be feisty and sarcastic. She is likable despite her reservations, fears, and stubbornness. I loved their humor, snark, and chemistry together.

"Why. Ms. Maddox, are you flirting with me?"
"Oh, hell, I hope so...Because I really suck at this shit."
"Beautiful woman, you have no idea how good at this shit you really are."

It oozes in sexual tension and extended foreplay. But despite their growing attraction and needs, it seems like real life keeps blocking them from getting to all the good parts. And they have their own internal road blocks that get in the way as well. In order to move past them they will have to systematically deal with their past issues once and for all. Being out of practice and with bad experiences behind them, they are bound to make mistakes and cause their own problems. But they have to figure out how important it is to fight their own fears as well as fight for each other.

Exhibit of total swooniness:
"I needed to ask you those questions earlier, April, because I'm in this...eyes open, parachute off, no safety net. And I wanna make sure I'm not jumping alone."

This was another well written, engaging story by Lisa N. Paul. She always ends up sucking me in with her complex, likable characters. I will admit that she took a creative risk on how she started this book a bit untraditionally and I am still not sure I was totally grabbed by it, but I was completely invested by the time I got to the traditional prologue and first chapter.

I loved all of the side characters (except the few I was supposed to hate and I did hate them). Elijah and Charlie were scene stealers. And I fell for both of April and Decker's siblings August, November, and Ford. August and Ford especially have the charisma and sincerity to be great male leads. Her friend Rori also seemed to have things about her life that were hidden and interesting. I would love to see their stories continue in future books.

I was thrilled to see the tie in with the Charistown series. It really made me smile. So much about this book actually made me smile or laugh. It had so much humor and fun banter not only between the main couple but also with their families and friends. But there was also enough heartbreak, frustration, and drama to keep it interesting. This was such a real-life type of romance. Life is messy, people are not perfect, mistakes are made, people get hurt, but if they are lucky you get a second chance for happiness and they are smart enough to hold onto it instead of letting it get away.

"So much goodness can rise from the worst devastation, April. One just needs to believe in the possibilities."

This was a fun book to read. I am a fan of Lisa's I enjoyed the fact that the people from Dan's Bar were Incorporated into the book. I had to do a double take when I first read Janie's name. LOL Decker, what can you say, he is the "Big Guy" he is trying to move forward as well as April "Dimples", they both have had a tough past with their significant others, but once they meet , the rest is history. They have there ups and lots of ups but they also learn to grow and become better versions of themselves. This has the sexy and hot scenes but it was also funny and at times you don't always find that in books.

I admit it- I am a Lisa fan. Hard core. Her stuff always gets to me- and puts me in the best warm fuzzy mood ever. Her Charistown series is one of my favorites- and it’s because of the thoroughly sculpted characters, the well thought out plot, and the development of “family,” or the secondary characters, that make you want more and more. And my hope of hopes is that Blocked is the first in a series of books from Lisa.

We start off the book with April- who I fluffing loved. She is a kick ass survivor- even when love kicked HER ass. Her “husband” if you could call him that- Ben, left her when their baby was six weeks old, claiming he was not ready for children, cheating on her, and leaving her for someone he was truly in love with. I mean, sucker punch to the gut, to the heart, and to the mind! April guards her heart HARD after douche-nozzle, and rightfully so. A woman can only take so much before she is stripped down. Her mother, who is not the most couth person out there, but really does have April’s best interest at heart- gives her a certificate for a gym membership (I know, HOW RUDE, but just give it time…) and there she meets- Decker Brand. *side note- her son Eli, adorbs!! Totally the cutest little thing- another strike for what’s his name who left April. The way he calls his moms dimples “dents,” is amazing.

Swoony mc Swoon Pants- or as Lisa calls him, Decker, is such a fan-freakin-tastic hero. He himself is a gym buff, an architect and a single dad. His deceased wife- did a number on him as well. And while I shouldn’t talk badly about the dead, she’s fictional and a total ass bag. She messed with his mind so bad, saying he should never be dirty from the construction, never wanting him to talk about work around her because- god forbid he give his MIND to something else beside her. Charlie is Deck’s daughter- and she is a great little addition too. Loved her. And he has been eyeing “Dimples” for a while now.

I loved the secondary characters- everyone from Deck’s brother Ford- to his mom Robyn, or April’s siblings- August and November- don’t ask April’s mom had a “thing” for months. And even Rori- April’s BFF and teaching partner in crime, loved. OH- and if you are a huge fan of the Charistown series, which I am, you will be THRILLED to know there are some tiny cameos from some of the gang, which I absolutely loved!!

Lisa is an author that has a fantastic way with words. She knows how to write a story- and write it well. There are so many cookie cutter romances out there- especially similar to the this story- but with Lisa writing it, it’s like those other books fall to the wayside and this is a completely new book for me. She always has me smiling at sweet terms of endearment (big guy, is now my FAVE), and can gut you with a single sentence or phrase, but have you giggling through tears on the next page.

Last thing I will say, the dedication in this book is spot on for me, and I am a firm believer of the YES I CAN attitude- and it seems Ms. Paul is under the same notion. That just because a certain situation in your life ends poorly, and it seems like everything it BLOCKED, from your head to your toes, we are all thriving survivors- and we CAN do whatever our minds set forth into motion- that we are truly capable of happiness- if we just believe in ourselves, that sensation of being BLOCKED falls by the wayside, and we become happily OPENED, to do and be whoever we want to be. Thank you SO much for that message Lisa, it really touched me. And I am SO happy that I was granted an ARC for an honest review- because honestly, it was one of my favorite books so far this year. And one I will not forget.

April Maddox. Single mother. Divorcee. When her husband announced, only months from the birth of their son, that he was leaving her for another woman, April decided then and there that she wouldn’t give anyone the power to hurt her or her son like that again. For 5 years, her focus has been her son and her job. She didn’t have many friends, nor did she date to prevent anyone from being able to hurt her when they left.

Decker Brand. Single father. Business owner. Widower. While he has remained single since the death of his wife, he hasn’t avoided women but finding one he was interested in who also didn’t run the other way when she learned of his daughter had proved more difficult.

But timing is everything.

When Decker stepped in to save the day at the gym, a tentative relationship begins to grow. I say tentative because for a while they moved at a glacial pace. April was so hesitant to open up and let Decker be a part of his life that he showed the patience of a saint, not only in gaining her attention, but in sharing with her what he felt. And though their physical pace was slow, the burn continued to build despite everything standing in their way.

I loved his thoughtfulness and his ability to see beyond her outward actions to see the reasons behind her hesitation and hot & cold behavior. As a father and as a partner he shows the characteristics of a perfect man -- one who may make mistakes, but never the same mistake twice.

I wasn’t bothered by the pace of their progression. For these two characters, slow and steady was necessary. They are each carrying a lot of baggage from previous relationships. But April’s continual reliance on avoiding heartache for her son as a reason for not dating, or not doing anything beyond work and home began to grate on me as I read.

This was a nice, smooth read, with few unexpected surprises but great family dynamics. I haven’t read anything else by this author, but enough breadcrumbs were dropped here that I have added her Charistown series to my TBR and look forward to getting to know some of the side characters a little better.

I was gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Perfect isn't even a good enough word to describe Decker Brand! He's sexy, compassionate, kind, and strong! There's nothing like a hot man that not only has the looks but also has the brains and common sense to go along with it. but Decker isn't the only man that blocked left me lusting after... August is well the funny guy...I found that refreshing and sexy as hell and hell the way he was with his family had me melting away.....ohh and then there's Ford, The one that cant be tamed, the mysterious one...Ohhh how I would love to learn more about Mr. Ford Brand!

I thought this book was refreshing. in most good love stories there is always some unnatural crazy plot or story line that is pretty much unrealistic.... This story was probably the most realistic story I have ever read! I absolutely Loved it. Don't get me wrong, Decker and April both have gone through things in there past that left them with scars and insecurities....but they are real life things..things that people can absolutely relate to b/c they have either experienced it or know someone who has. That alone made this story AMAZING!

I have to say this is the first time I wanted to scream at the female character(April in this case) for letting something that most people search for there whole lives slip away from her. Normally I want to scream at them for being voiceless or submissive(outside of the bedroom of course) . Ohh but not our April.... She was the stubborn one. The one too scorned to see what was right in front of her. well you'll just have to read to see if she ever gives into him or not!

If you have read the Charistown Series.. which I have. you will notice the references to some of our favorite characters. I absolutely loved the familiar faces and the Names. But its not necessary for you to read them to understand this book. although you absolutely should B/c They are AMAZING as well!

Lisa, I must say I loved how the apple references popped up! :) and of course you'll know why. ohhh and Ando!!! I now am extremely curious about him and rori!

Lisa N. Paul brings us Blocked - A heartwarming story with just the right touch of drama to keep you flipping pages! This story of April Maddox and Decker Brand’s bumpy road towards love will make you fall in love!

April is a middle school teacher and she is sweet, very insecure but at the same time is one feisty little thing that has sarcasm that I love. She was very hurt by someone she trusted. Her loyalty was taken for granted leaving April hurt and broken. Her guard is up, walls were erected and she won’t let herself be hurt again. That is, until she meets her match with Decker Brand. But April is stubborn and Decker won’t be able to work his way in that easy.

Decker Brand is widowed and a father to six-year old daughter Charlie. He runs a successful construction company and is extremely sexy, protective, caring, passionate and funny. Basically Decker Brand seems to have created a BRAND all of his own, he’s the total package! But all this sexiness doesn’t come easy or without a past. He has known what it feels like to have your world falling down around you, but Decker has been able to overcome tragedy and there is nothing holding him back.

"So much goodness can rise from the worst devastation, April. One just needs to believe in the possibilities."

Ahhhhh.. SWOON!

I loved Decker and April’s chemistry. This book is perfectly blended. Love, Drama, Humor, Angst all blended into the Decker/April sandwich. Reading their story unfold was easy, everything seemed to fall into place right where it should’ve making you fall head over heels. Both very likable characters as well as the supporting characters leave you either loving or hating them, just as you should. She gives you just enough of them to make you want to know where their stories go, hopefully in future books!

You seriously need to read this book!! This was my first Lisa N Paul book, but it won’t be my last that is for sure! 4.5 Stars ! - Copy provided for honest review

★★★★★★ Given this Arc for a honest review ★★★★★★

I never really take peoples advice on books ( I guess I've been burnt a few times.) Anyway I took a chance on this author as a friend of mine recommended her. ( Totally my go to woman for new books now ;) )

This was my first time reading anything by Lisa N paul and to say this book blew me away is an understatement. This book is so different to any other books I've read before, I've never read a book before that has left my cheeks hurting from all the smiling liking a cheshire cat and all the lol moments, yes it has plenty of these moments but it also has a heartbreaking story involved too.

Wow.... I've wrote this review, deleted it and wrote it again .... I honestly don't know what to write to really express what this book made me feel, this has never happened to me before usually words come easy.

So I'll keep it short and sweet ..... you NEED to read this book by Lisa N Paul , the way she wrote these characters is beautiful..... both Decker and April go through the worst relationships imaginable.

What happens when you are given a second chance, but you are too scared to open up your heart again, you've spent years building walls up and closing yourself off ....is it possible to give your heart to another?

The bond between Decker and April is flirtatious, sexy, admirable and true.... I guess you could say Decker is April's match and vice versa.
I love the things he says to her, he's the real deal he's not just after a fling he's in it for the long haul.

"I needed to ask you those questions earlier, April, because I'm in this" -he gestured between the two of them -"eyes open, parachute off, no safety net. And I wanna make sure I'm not jumping alone."

I can honestly say if this is what you get when you read Lisa N Paul , this was the first time I read her work but it most definitely won't be the last.

If you have not read any of Lisa N. Paul’s books I would highly recommend Blocked.

Lisa writes an emotional story with compelling characters that touch your heart. Her writing is smooth, has the right amount of push and pull, the right amount of heat and steam, and is well plotted story. She adds the right amount of humor and the right amount of angst. She allows her characters to come to life and take over the pages.

In her latest release Blocked, the characters have both experienced bad marriages. They have been burned. They both carry around issues from their past marriages. Although they have seen the worst of love and marriage, they have managed to pick up the pieces and move on with their lives. They don’t let their past hold them back. And because of their past, they are much better parents to their children.

Both Decker and April are strong characters. They both display different strengths and prove that they have the right kind of backbone to make a new relationship work. Although they are cautious because of their pasts and their children, they do not let their caution ruin their chance at a happy future.

I am not going to say too much more because it would leave too many spoilers. I will say that both characters will capture your heart and you will fall in love with them. Their story will pull on your heartstrings and make you rejoice in the end.

Waffling between 3.5-4* stars so we'll round it up.
Contrary to the cover and the warning, (yes, there is some dirty-talking and some squirming in my seat love scenes), this is a sweet, I mean really sweet, almost cotton candy with sugar on top sweet, book. It's a story of starting over, taking chances, opening yourself up for love.

April and Decker are both single parents, who come to their situations in different ways, but which are equally heart breaking. I wanted to strangle both of their significant others at certain points, as noted by my status as I read the book! My God, April's ex..."Now you won't be alone after I'm gone. I've got it all planned." You have got to be kidding me.

I enjoyed the set up of the book, how April and Decker connected. I liked how their relationship progressed and the fact that time passed in the book but it wasn't necessary for us to see every day that went by.
I loved the secondary characters- I want books for Ford and August!
Decker is definitely book husband material. He's caring, compassionate, considerate...and he's got quite the mouth on him, he's one of those surprising ones! April was burned so badly by her ex that it's kind of tainted her outlook on men, and who can blame her. She's afraid to fully commit to Decker, afraid that he'll just be like her ex.

There's some strife and drama, and there were a few times I wanted to give April a little smack. But overall this was a really enjoyable read, definitely for those that love a sweet romance.

Lisa N. Paul has done it again! Blocked is charming and heartwarming with just the right amount of drama to keep you entertained. I tore through this story page after page and enjoyed every second of April and Decker's story.

Our heroine April is goodhearted, but that loyalty can easily be taken for granted leaving April's heart trampled by someone she trusted. Despite the turmoil, she's resilient and is determined to be the best version of herself for the ones she loves. Decker knows what it's like to have the weight of the world bearing down on you. He's experienced tragedy but tried to find the silver lining instead of drowning in loss. Plus he's mega sexy. I loved the connection these two shared. It was genuine and built throughout the story. Watching their romance unfold made me smile and fall deeper in love with these characters.

Page after page the story lured me in and held my attention. You can't help but get swept away in this fictional world Lisa Paul has created. I want to spend a Thursday night at Danny's with these incredible characters. There was plenty of angst and drama but it wasn't the overwhelming kind. It kept me engaged without making me feel like I was drowning. I loved the balance between the heartbreak and gentler moments.

Get your hands on Blocked and meet the always sexy and irresistible Decker Brand. You'll be hooked from the prologue and swoon until the very end.

Sweet story of how 2 people falling in love and the trials and tribulation of starting a new relationship.
Decker- owner of a construction company, window, father and gentleman.
April - English teacher, divorced, single mother

Decker was once married to a superficial woman that sucked the life out of him and died while berating him via text while she was driving. His focus was on work and his daughter. Although he was an owner of the company, he loved to be hands on, which was one of the things his wife hated. He was a wealthy man, but very humble.

April was left by her husband at months pregnant since he decided he liked screwing his employee better. Breaking her heart he left her and his son without so much as a backward glance. Despite this, April was strong and resilient and took care of her and her son with the support of her parents, siblings and friends.

They met by chance at the gym, and that is how their story began.

What I enjoyed about the story was the blossoming of the relationship and how the book took the time to show the build up. There was also a lot of humor between April and Decker, and all the characters in the book. On top of the humor, there was a good mix of hot and sexy. I always love the dirty talk. I was expecting a much more dramatic climax but for the most part it worked. I did enjoy the read and would recommend it.

I really enjoyed this one!

First off, let me just say, this Hero and heroine each had the absolute WORST in ex's. April's ex in particular. Douchebag of the year award for him.

That being said, this a sweet second chance at love sort of book between two single parents. They have their ups and downs and crazy family. They are sassy and snarky and a little bent at times. The adorable kids steal the spotlight at times.

I have to say, I felt this was very real. Some of it was a bit over the top, in that way that only romance books can be, but other times I sat back and said "Oh my god! That totally happened to me and my husband!" or "Doesn't it just figure that would happen?"

I took the one star off, because with one big thing (I won't say what, that'd spoil stuff) I felt like April wasn't quite acting like the woman we'd met already. She seemed to act WAY out of character. And while for a small amount of time during this incident it is warranted and acceptable, it seemed just off...to me...for her. I don't really know how to explain it, other than it was just a bit TOO much out of character for too long. And really, that's all 110% just my personal opinion.

I would recommend this book if you're looking for something quick and somewhat light. There's some drama but not a ton of angst. Give it a whirl!!

Lisa N. Paul wrote a fantastic novel! I didn't think I could love this book as much as I love her Charistown series- But I do! I quickly fell in love with and related to the characters! The family dynamics are so real and cherished! Then there are the two main characters April and Decker! You instantly feel like April is real and loveable ! Decker is just pure male hunk, and, yet, he's so much deeper! I love the witty banter between all of the characters! I felt like Lisa wrote the book perfectly to make the reader feel that they were right there with April and Decker and feeling what they felt during each step of their journey! You feel so many emotions during this book: anger, joy, lust, sadness, and hope! I literally laughed out loud at one point! I felt it had the perfect ratio of storyline and sexy, panty-melting scenes. For Charistown fans- Lisa N. Paul entwines some of your favorite Charistown series characters into the story . Loved to read about some familiar characters, but also not necessary to have read the Charistown series (even though you should)! I'll end with my favorite quote from Lisa N. Paul's Blocked, "So much goodness can rise from the worst devastation, April. One just needs to believe in possibilities."

I loved this book, and I adore this author!

I absolutely loved this story! This is my forth read from Lisa, and she is a talented and versatile writer. The books in the Thursday Nights series are a bit deeper and intense, and more serious in nature. Blocked, even with its adult issues, felt lighter and more joyful; maybe I'm not making sense, but the overall thing I want to convey is that Lisa has mad writing skills!
Decker Brand is a real sweetheart, and April did not stand a chance, LOL! Both Decker and April had their challenges in their first marriages, but all that was endured so that they could find such joy together. I loved that we got to see some of our old friends from Danny's, and I hope to see more of the new connections we've now made with Blocked. I want to know more about Rori, as there seemed to be a connection with the new bartender at Danny's, and I want to see what woman is going to tame Ford Brand, and big brother August also captured my heart! The other wonderful element of this story is the humor and witty banter between Deck and "Dimples"' loved it! Lisa, you are a rock star! Thank you for another fantastic journey, and please keep them coming!

True Love can Unblock anything

I love each and every book by Lisa N. Paul. Decker a loving father part owner of the family business. Family is everything, all he is missing is his One True Love. April is funny, a loving mother to her sweet little boy, but her walls are so high up it will take some one special to break them down. Chemistry between two people that only see each other at the gym, but sparks keep flying, but April is scared to be hurt again and she Never wants that kind of hurt to touch Eli. She has done everything to make sure he does feel loved as her and her family shower him with it all. Decker was raised to respect all and he has given his daughter Charlie a stable home and love from him and his family. When you have two people that came from bad relationships and they want to have their Happy Ever After, but the mistakes from each of their past relationships come into play and can and will they move passed them and bring their families together and make it One Happy Family. April has a lot of soul searching to do and she has to let her walls down so the Love Decker is offering can show her that she went through this headache to be with the one she was meant to be with. I totally recommend this book. You will not regret this book.
