The effects of the Shift have caused havoc at Time Square. Time itself is in danger of imploding and Operation Slingshot has been activated to save the day. Team ELMR embark on their first mission to locate and rescue the first of the missing travellers.

Mission: ELMR-01
Date: 8-July-1947
Location: Roswell, New Mexico, United States of America

Mission Brief: Readings indicate that the target traveller has possibly been captured by a brilliant, but eccentric, scientist who is investigating reports of extra-terrestrials that have crashed in the Roswell area.

Due to this, it is essential that the target is located and rescued before he unwittingly reveals our secret. If the secret of time-travel is revealed to such a random mind, then it could spell disaster and have a huge impact on the world.

S.W. Lothian is an Australian author who creates edge-of-your-seat adventures that are great reads for all ages. His books range from those that thrill young adult readers with intrigue, drama, and suspense, to those that launch teens into exciting settings and action-filled mysteries while reminding older readers of their childhood dreams.

His new SUBWAY series explores a new level of tension and intrigue. Set in a dystopian New York City, it’s not too far removed from where we are today. The plot is a thought-provoking thriller and aims to be a new favorite for young adult fans of such greats as The Hunger Games and The Maze Runner.

The idea behind his highly successful debut middle-grade series, AXEL RHODES, was inspired by S.W’s own childhood favorites; such as Indiana Jones and anything to do with action, adventure, and time-travel.

He followed that up with his TIME SQUARE series, which is a more quirky and humorous take on time-travel. TIME SQUARE is packed full of the great settings and action his readers expect but has plenty of extra laughs and a great cast of offbeat characters as well.

S.W.’s mission is to write books that launch readers from the mundanity of life into exciting settings, action-filled mysteries, and thrilling intrigue – whilst leaving them exhausted in the process.

His debut novel, Axel Rhodes and the Golden Scarab (Axel Rhodes 1), was a 2013 READERS’ FAVORITE AWARD FINALIST.

Lothian hails from Western Australia and due to personal experience is an advocate for Childhood Cancer Awareness.

“Time Square: UFO” by S.W. Lothian is the fourth straight winner from this author. I thoroughly enjoyed Lothian’s “The Quest” series, so I approached this first volume [SEE my Update at the end of this review] in the new “Time Square” series in anticipation of another literary treat. I was not disappointed.

“Time Square: UFO” begins a new series of adventures for a time-travelling team of young teens. A well-meaning archaeologist brings home an ancient artifact long hidden in Machu Picchu, triggering an inadvertent time-shift. As a result, some 163 time travelers already en route to other times and places, found themselves stranded in times and places they did not expect.

After a momentary panic, a project called “Slingshot” was begun, to track down and rescue the missing travelers. “UFO” launches the first such rescue effort, as our young heroes travel to 1947 Roswell, New Mexico, in search of Wilbur Force who was lost while attempting to visit an earlier time and a distant place. In the process they encounter the beginning of a major military cover-up, and deal with the machinations of an overly eager, somewhat delusional “mad” scientist/inventor.

“Time Square: UFO” is brilliantly conceived and very well-written. This is a story kids of all ages will devour. Many clever plays-on-words are liberally sprinkled throughout the book, adding a bonus element of humor to an already captivating story line.

The gadgets available to the team of time travelers are humorously reminiscent of the old “Get Smart” television series. The utility pen carried by the team leader is capable of doing almost anything, except whatever it is they need it to do at any given moment.

Lothian conveys a subtle but pervasive sense of humor throughout this book, which will be a significant draw with younger readers, up to roughly 90 or so years of age. “Time Square: UFO” is an excellent introductory episode of a new series I fully expect will become quite popular, quite quickly.

Don’t wait any longer; get your copy of “Time Square: UFO” right away, and avoid the rush! This book will make a superb gift for the reluctant reader(s) on your Christmas shopping list. They will certainly appreciate it, once they’ve finished reading the story.

1st Update: I was just informed this is the SECOND book in the series, NOT the first. Volume One is called "The Shift". I will be posting a review thereof within the week. Thank you for your patience.

2nd Update: I just finished reading "The Shift", which is actually the first volume in this series. I thoroughly enjoyed it! See my review here, https://www.goodreads.com/review/show... or search for "Time Square: The Shift" by S.W. Lothian. Great story!

Time Square: UFO: Team ELMR, (Eva,Lewis,Max&Razor) The kids are off on their first mission, to find displaced Time Square traveler, Wilber Force. They arrive in Roswell, 1947 to find that some rather bizarre UFO activity has just been reported. Their mission, to rescue Wilber from an eccentric inventor named Professor Melvin Finkelstein , who seems to have abducted Wilber, for reasons, the team does not know.

Melvin, a brilliant but long since forgotten inventor, had been hiding away in an abandoned mansion until the Roswell incident. With his trusty, albeit silent assistant Neil, ( Neil is a Rhino beetle, yes, I laughed out loud too) the two had been on the verge of a brilliant invention, when the stories of flying disc's hit the news. Melvin, knew he had to investigate. Upon his arrival in Roswell, he finds an abandoned dental surgery to set up shop. He and Neil set about getting the lay of the land, finding out anything they can about the incident, when they happen upon Wilber, the moment he is displaced from Time square. They of course, abduct Wilber, taking him to their new digs to get the skinny on the incredible flying discs, but Wilber of course has no idea what They are talking about.

Meanwhile, James Blonde, is honing in on the mysterious Sultan Peppercorn, whom Blonde believes has stolen the Obelisk. Sultan has decided that freezing the obelisk and then trying to smash it will unlock it secrets, which of course sends the whole of Time Square into a mini ice age.

With a lot of guts, gadgets and Razor turned into a miniature, team ELMR manage to outsmart the brilliant Melvin, and escape back to time square with Wilber, only to find a rather icy reception upon their arrival.

The kids may have won this round, but Time Square and time itself, are still in great peril.

This was a super fun read, with some fantastic new characters. I personally loved the antics of Melvin and Neil, and James Blonde had some great laugh out loud moments too. The kids are starting to work out each other strengths and weaknesses and I certainly look forward to their next time traveling adventure. I think kids 8-12 will find this a hilarious and exciting read.

Synopsis- When Eva and Lewis’ dad put time itself in mortal danger (accidentally, of course – he’s really a nice guy), 163 time travelers were scattered throughout time. Rescue teams were sent out to save the travelers from whatever time they landed in. Eva and Lewis, along with their new friends, Max Wells and Razer Sharpe, become a team, and are sent to 1947 Roswell, the time of the supposed UFO crash-landing. Will the rescue team be able to find and help the lost time traveler in time (no pun intended – well, maybe a little ;) )?

What I Liked- This book was AWESOME! I’ve read a lot of Mr. Lothian’s books and this one is my favorite. I loved the adventure in it and the writing was top-notch. Even though this book is technically the second book in the series, it is really Eva and Lewis’ first adventure through time with their new friends. This is a really action-packed book. There is a race against time to stop a mad scientist from trying to hurt a lost time traveler that is mistaken for an alien. The book is appropriate for all ages. The mad scientist (the bad guy) is quite funny and I enjoyed his character very much. The whole story was enjoyable and the time travel parts were done really well. The story takes place at Roswell, at the time of their famed alien sighting, so that makes it even more dangerous for the main characters (and fun for the reader), whose time traveling portal closes with a bright flash!
*NOTE* I got a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review

I really enjoyed this book. this is the second book in the Time Square series. I this adventure ELMR is brought into the Roswell event. They have been sent through time to find Wilber Force who has been kidnapped. Sultan Peppercorn who had stolen the obelisk has frozen it hoping to shatter it. Instead he creates an ice age in Time Square. I was happy to read this book because the author had a "name a character" contest. I submitted the name Leonard Paxton. Based on the description he had given us I looked for names with certain meanings. Leonard means "Brave Lion" and Paxton means "Peaceful". Leonard is Sultan Peppercorn's assistant. He doesn't necessarily like what the Sultan does or how the Sultan treats him, but as he put it, the job pays his bills. He is very loyal. This book also included a new problem. Those traveling through time might end up being miniaturized. This happened to Razer Sharp. The other kids don't know why she was and they were not. This is just one of many problems they will face. You really need to read this book to find out what else can go wrong in Time Square.
I received a copy to facilitate my review. The opinions expressed here are my own.

I've become a loyal fan of SW's stories. With the second story in the Time Square series, he doesn't disappoint readers. UFO With the first page, I was drawn immediately back into the story that started with Time Shift. This latest adventure for Team ELMR and Operation Slingshot brings in a unique US historical event that is still debated today: Roswell and aliens! The stranded traveler that the team is looking for has been mistaken as an alien by a scientist/inventor who is a little short of a full deck, and this scientist's constant companion is a Rhino Beetle!!

The adventure is fast-paced and full of surprises and a funny cast of characters including James Blonde, a spy of sorts but without the skills of that other great spy! Get ready to hold onto your seats as James Blonde goes full speed after the obelisk and ends up in a tree! I'll let you read how that happened.

While Time Shift may have been a little slow in places, its detail sets the reader in the starting box for UFO!

Review: TIME SQUARE SHIFT and TIME SQUARE UFO SW LOTHIAN

Author SW LOTHIAN has consistently proven his ability to pen adventurous, intriguing, novels for middle-grade readers. His QUEST series introduced reader's to the glory of Ancient Egypt with clever time-travel, "learn while adventuring." In this new series, he postulates, not just time travel, but threats to the actual nature and existing of time. In the 1930's, an "absent-minded" professor and his adolescent daughter and son discover unexpected adventures, in a delightful and educational series
