"Only we could get lost in the English countryside and find ourselves trapped in The Wicker Man!"
While on vacation in England, detective Tony Peterson and the witch Cassandra visit Tony's estranged cousin Lord Trent Malkin and his wife Ruby. The two couples team up to investigate the disappearance of a maid from the manor and a series of murders by an ancient cat cult. Complicating things are hostile villagers, an unfriendly vicar and amateur sleuth, Miss Emma Simon.
Who can be trusted in the village of Little Bascombe? And if the legend of a Devil Cat wandering the countryside in search of souls to devour is true, are Tony and Cassandra about to face the greatest threat of their lives?
Ouch. Why are my favorite ships always so complicated? I've loved the Tony/Cassandra stories in Big Finish's Dark Shadows "dramatized readings". The witch and the private detective solving occult crimes while snarking at each other -- what's not to like? They're limited to only the two of them and maybe one or two guests, so the banter crackles between them. This one is set in a small British town with its own mysterious cult and they're drawn into investigating the disappearance of a missing maid. No one is who they seemed and everything goes wrong... as it does in Dark Shadows form.
Where it goes wrong for me is ironically Tony & Cassandra's relationship. I almost wish they'd left it at "will they, won't they". I *hate* resets. With a fiery passion. I know they need to leave Angelique in a certain place... but *sighs*.

After arriving in England Tony and Cassandra visit Tony's cousin and his wife. They all team up to investigate the disappearance of a maid and a series of murders from a cat cult. Whilst something dark has been after Tony and Cassandra for such a long time, time's up.
This was a brilliant story! This is quite a dark story with some light heartedness, the beginning of a love story and a tragic ending. This is a brilliant ending to The Tony and Cassandra audios, the writer and the cast pulled off this story so well and that ending, I felt like crying! 10/10
Audio-book: Audio quality: Good; Narration: Good This book is part of a series, but it can be read as a standalone without any confusion. All in all it is a fun and entertaining supernatural mystery.
I thought this was a really good story. I was surprised at the conclusion of the mystery (I should not have been, but I was), and saddened at the conclusion of the story.
