Prides of the Moon, Book 1 (a 1Night Stand tale ...)

Sabrina Wayne yearns for the perfect mates to fill the void in her heart. As a werepuma Beta, she is driven to find the strongest Alpha to submit too, or in her case, Alphas. Sabrina craves the delicious softness of a woman as well as the rugged strength of a man. She has almost given up finding the right couple when she takes a leap of faith and allows Madame Evangeline of the 1Night Stand matchmaking service to set her on what Madame Eve promises will be an evening she'll never forget.

Alphas Nick and Madeline Turea have been searching for a woman like Sabrina for a very long time. After a disastrous relationship with a former Beta female, the couple has been extremely cautious to let anyone else get close to them or the Amber Moon pride. When Madame Evangeline contacts them about a possible match, both are eager to meet the beautiful woman who may complete their family.

A night of reckless desire and burning hot passion leads to an unknown danger that might destroy Sabrina's one chance at a perfect love. She must learn to surrender to the power of her Alphas and gain their trust before it's too late.

****Warning: This book contains girls who like girls and show it-frequently-with great zeal ... and a lucky sexy as hell Alpha male shifter who is more than happy to join in the fun.

Ann Mayburn

Ann is Queen of the Castle to her wonderful husband and three sons in the mountains of West Virginia. In her past lives she's been an Import Broker, a Communications Specialist, a US Navy Civilian Contractor, a Bartender/Waitress, and an actor at the Michigan Renaissance Festival. She also spent a summer touring with the Grateful Dead(though she will deny to her children that it ever happened).

From a young age she's been fascinated by myths and fairytales, and the romance that often was the center of the story. As Ann grew older and her hormones kicked in, she discovered trashy romance novels. Great at first, but she soon grew tired of the endless stories with a big wonderful emotional buildup to really short and crappy sex. Never a big fan of purple prose, throbbing spears of fleshy pleasure and wet honey pots make her giggle, she sought out books that gave the sex scenes in the story just as much detail and plot as everything else-without using cringe worthy euphemisms. This led her to the wonderful world of Erotic Romance, and she's never looked back.

Now Ann spends her days trying to tune out cartoons playing in the background to get into her 'sexy space' and has learned to type one handed while soothing a cranky baby.

2.5...Beta Female Seeks Alpha M/F

I didn't get a strong feel for the characters or why I should really care for them. They hoped for a mate, been betrayed, felt lust/love and they were happy. No true feel for anything really or why I should continue.

I've read Mayburn before and she can rock at world-building and creating interesting characters. Unfortunately, this short fell...short. :(

This is a short story, well written, of shifter werecats, pumas. Ménage and fem fem action. How Alphas sometimes want a Beta to make their ménage. It is evocative of US mountain and forest regions and from the story clarity of region and characters. I would have liked to have read more of these character in a longer story.
I'd rate it at 3/4 border so have 4 starred it.
I hope to read more of this Moon series by Ann Mayburn

1 Night Stand Series

A NIGHT OWL REVIEWS BOOK REVIEW
Reviewed by: Erona Diane Hill

Ooh, me like!

I have never been so enraptured by werepumas before! The wild and untamed decadence between our two heroines, Madeline and Sabrina, and between them and their Alpha male, Nick, was richly rewarding!

Although the only plot was whether or not Sabrina would finally find her mates, I truly enjoyed this piece of eroticism. The lesbian encounters were done very well, showing more of an emotional and spiritual bonding rather than just erotica. And when Nick entered the bonding, well, let me tell you, it was VERY nice.

Being only 35 pages, you are guaranteed to be pleased without interruption!

Amazing, all the detail and character work Ms Mayburn managed to fit into such a short story, oh, and it is pretty darn HAWT! Amber Moon is yet another 1NS to hit just the right spot for me:) If you like shifter menage books, this should totally be on your to-read list!

Amber Moon is a powerful, sensual read. Madeline is an outstanding character and I loved how we got to see into her heart and her mind. She is strong yet wounded, decisive yet hesitant and idealistic yet prosaic. She is complex and downright likable. Sabrina appears to be over the top strong almost alpha-like yet the other shifter brings out the beta in her. I love when her caretaker instincts take over and she becomes so much more authentic with those actions. Nick is practically sex on a stick and I honestly wish he had a bigger part in the story as I felt I barely scraped the surface of this intriguing man. The added action was a major bonus. This author knows how to write charismatic, captivating, characters with expressive emotions and sweltering sex appeal and I can’t wait to read more.

I read my fair share of menage stories but I have to admit this one was my first with two woman and a man. I wasn't sure what to expect or if I would even like to read about it. Even more this is a short story and I was a bit scared that the characterization or the world building wouldn't be enough to pitch the threesome line to me. It did work for me and that rather good. *wink*

We meet Sabrina in the middle of the woods waiting for her blind-date with an alpha couple. She knows their names and which pride they belong to but nothing more than that. On the one hand she is excited and hopes to finally find her mates but on the other she's already prepared for dissapointment. Sabrina was fun- she is a beta but still she felt very strong to me. She took a chance with the blind date.

Madeline is a blond sex bomb or that is what her looks want to make us believe. She is after all a strong alpha leading a pack of shifters. She is desperate to find a girl that both, herself and her mate Nick would like. After a bad incident in their past Nick is reluctant to let another woman near Madeline even though they both need the release a beta could give them.

I loved the how this story just felt so smooth. The conversations between these two girls were awesome- they made the story so much more vibrant. The teasing and joking was fun to read about and well it was so hot to see them explore their sexuality. Surprisingly I liked that the girls met alone first and the first sexual encounter only happened between them. It was new and different to me but well very very hot.

The plot itself was a bit predictable but I think this story lives more through the character interaction. Amber Moon was a surprising fast read that will leave you hot and happy at the end. Shifters alone in the woods- what is not to love.

Short and sexy! This is the first in Mayburn's new Prides of the Moon series which is part of Decadent Publishing's 1 Night Stand series.

Madame Eve of the 1 Night Stand dating service works her magic again in this thirty-eight page short.

Sabrina, a werepuma, is set up for a one night stand but hopes they'll be her mates. She's "two natured" (i.e. bisexual) and "sex between werepumas wasn’t just physical, but a magical exchange of energy that satisfied her soul as much as her body." At first her glance of Madeline, Sabrina is disappointed at her "soft and cuddly kitten" look but then she meets her eyes and sees the strength she's looking for.

Madeline and Nick, mated Alphas of the Amber Moon pride, have been set up for a one night stand but are hoping to find someone to complete them. Madeline is instantly attracted to Sabrina, she is physically her opposite. She's glad she asked to meet her alone first. Madeline loves Nick "with all her heart ... but feels they are incomplete". Nick is at first upset with Sabrina for endangering Madeline with her little stunt but is also attracted to her

This has F/F, F/M and F/M/F and I rate it Hot! (3/4) on the heat scale. If F/F makes you squeamish, this may not be for you.

I read it in one sitting, along with the next two shorts in Mayburn's series, and enjoyed it.

Sabrina is a strong werepuma, a beta but due to her dual natures she needs two mates a male and a female alpha pair to be physically and mentally happy. Unfortunately for her she can usually only find one or the other, in alpha couple Madeline and Nick of the Amber Moon Pack she gets both the soulful and the physical connection.

Bookswagger Marcia: Four Crowns, good read, on the way to swagger. For a 11,000 words we get multiple xxx scenes and a killer which I was not expecting which definitely bumped this story up for me, I was just expecting erotic bedroom or woodsy scenes being a shifter erotic romance and all but there is actually a plot and I was able to jump in and enjoy the author weaving Madeline and Nick’s shared history throughout the short read so it made sense. Good read I paid 1.00 @ Amazon and I am not mad about it. There is only so much I can put in a review about a book for 11,000 words without giving it away. I will say this is more about Madeline and Sabrina then Nick, you get romance, action and backstory all in a book you can read during your lunch break so I am giving props where props are due.

Nicely naughty story set in the 1 Night Stand series. Sabrina needs a couple of Alphas to complete her, Nick and Madeline need a third to get their groove on. One thing I love about these 1NS books is that you get a lot of story in a little package. Sabrina has been unfulfilled by her previous relationships and she needs more to keep her cat happy. Nick and Madeline have been burned in the past and they're looking for someone they can trust who ignites both of their passions.

Creative outdoor sex mixed with a healthy dose of danger left me fully satisfied.

I so love shifter stories and this was no exception, even though it was a quick read, it was definitely hot, I felt the connection that these three, Sabrina, Madeline and Nick, were looking for.

After a disastrous mating, Madeline and Nick are looking for their third to complete their bond, just as Sabrina is looking for an Alpha couple, her being a Beta, she longs for a bonding with shifters stronger than she is.

Madeline meets her first and sparks fly, once they see they are compatible, Nick then will join them for a fireworks-type of a night. I enjoyed this being an M/F/F, the story kept me turning the page, cannot wait to read the next installment of the Prides books.

Amber Moon by Ann Mayburn

Sabrina Wayne had gone three moon cycles without a mate and she knows she must find her mate soon as it is becoming harder and harder to find relief.

Nick and Madeline Turea have been mated for eleven years but have yet been unable to find the beta mate that would make them complete.

Nick is protective of Madeline as they have both been deceived in the past and he needs to be sure Sabrina is truly their mate and that Madeline is safe with her. Is Sabrina the mate they have search so long for or is she just another who seeks the power for herself?

"Great world building – Ann managed do to so much with only 30 pages! I was eagerly hoping that we would have a love scene with all of the three of them so we could see how the chemistry was like. I didn’t enjoy very much the surprise element, but it has without a doubt a hardcore plot filled with action, fighting scenes and fast pacing."

I was kind of excited for this book, because it's not often that you have a menage romance with 2 women, rather than 2 men. I even really liked the premise - one female submissive to both male and female mates. Unique and promising premise, but it fell short. And by short, I mean the book is REALLY SHORT. I wish it could have been at least twice as long just to be able to show the 3 of them in a scene together one more time, because it really felt rushed. I had such high hopes too :(

This is a yummy quick read. I love the 1NightStand collection because they are compact well crafted stories. This is a uber hot Menage, FFM, good lord once they start they never stop!

I don't read a lot of FF, not typically my thing. This is super sexy though and Ms Mayburn draws you into the characters from the start, very clever mixed narrative gives you everybody's POV. It rally helps move the story along.

Loved it and can not wait to read more!

I really enjoyed this novella by Ann Mayburn. Although it's very short, she manages to give us background enough to make this shifter world and her characters' actions make sense. There was plenty of sizzling sex to be found here too...I've never been a huge fan of the f/f genre, but I think Ms. Mayburn may be changing my mind - the f/f scenes were hot enough to make a convert of me! I"m looking forward to reading the rest of the Pride of the Moon series.

4 stars for this one!

This was a sexy short story! I'm glad to read a M/F/F for once......it's about time. I wish this story would have been longer (my nature wanting more F/F action due to not many writing it in this genre), but I hope to see more from Mrs. Ann Mayburn. Good on you girl for putting out something most find taboo. I found it HOT!

Blah - I am sure this could have been a really good read had it not been so short. I like the premise of the story and while I was not sure about the male and female alpha's, I found I did quite like it.

I really need to be more careful - I dislike reading short stories and novella's (downloaded 3 all at once) if you do then this will be a good read.

My only complaint about this bok is that it was over too soon, would of loved to see what happened in the year following where this story left off and how the new beta integrated into pack life. The erotica was well written without being too much and the story was different without being overwhelming. looking forward to the next 3 short stories in the series.

I'm not a really big fan of short stories at all, just not enough book for character development. I liked it a lot, but felt deprived when I was done. So much potential here. But it was really good for a short.

It's not everyday you stumble across a hot M/F/F menage and I gotta say me likey! Amber Moon, the first novella in Ann Mayburn's Prides of the Moon series was short, sweet, and to the point. I liked it. I'm glad I found this series bundled and free on Kindle.
