Book 4 of the More Than Friends Gay Romance Series

When Spencer agreed to help take down the leader of a Portland crime family, he didn't realize he'd end the night with the bloodied body of an unknowing accomplice in his arms. His initial interest in Dylan was purely physical but when Dylan stepped in front of Topher's gun and saved Spencer, the lust quickly turned into something more. Something he wasn't sure he'd ever find in the fast-paced dot com world he was from.

Completely ridiculous, I honestly didn't get far enough to rate or to review fairly.
The whole start up situation was too far-fetched for me then nuzzling at someone who has just been shot? A someone who you've just met and who has saved your life despite being the bodyguard of the man shooting? WTF!
And all the he was a college friend oh no wait he's actually indentured, it felt unplanned. I quit early for the sake of sanity. Recommend you read the sample and test your incredibility before buying.

Really enjoyable series! Aria Grace always tells an interesting story and the More Than Friends series is creative and full of surprises. Never one to shy away from drama and violence, Ms. Grace does a great job with Just Stay.

I did the audio version and Chris Chambers does a very nice job.

I go with 4 stars. It was a gripping read, pulled me in from the beginning; I liked both MCs and their friends. In the end some questions remained, the 'suspense' was handled in a rush. Add some jumping POVs and missing letters or words - yes, it was minor, but it disrupted my reading flow. Book 5 will follow, I'm not sure whether I'll read it - Patton didn't make a lasting impression - but knowing my inability to stop reading a series, most probably I'll get it as soon as it's released.

I’ve really enjoyed this series. I did think the story was a little far fetched, but it was still entertaining. I just like the way Aria Grace tells a story.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

3.5 stars rounded up to 4 stars - I listened to this story on audio and was very pleased with the narrator, Chris Chambers, who did a great job of portraying the characters. A shout out is due here too for the cover - yummy. 5 stars on both cover and narrator. This story runs just under 4 hours on the audio so I was able to listen to it in just one day.

I should also mention that I have previously read book one in the series but not books 2 or 3, and likely missed some background on Dylan and different secondary characters, but never felt I was missing anything during the story. So for me it stood alone very well as a mystery/romance.

Dylan, Dylan, how I love thee! For a big guy with a heart of gold, you wouldn't expect to find him working for an organized crime group, but Dylan needed a home, a job and relief from crushing debt when they took him in, so I can understand why he is loyal to them (mostly). When the story starts, Spencer, our second MC is participating in a sting operation as an art buyer to help catch the sellers of fake artworks when everything goes wrong. Our hero Dylan steps in front of a bullet meant for Spencer's heart and takes a slug to his shoulder instead. What a way for two gay characters to meet - loved it. How could you not like a guy who takes a bullet for you?

I really enjoyed watching the relationship between Dylan and Spencer build slowly from attraction to lust, then "Just Stay". There was also a lot of action/mystery going on too with the organization being attacked by unknown assailants. Secondary characters also added a lot of interest. My only complaint with the story is that I would have expected Spencer to have a lot more angst internally with Dylan's career choice. Likely that will come later as the story ended on a HFN.

Overall a good read!

** I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.*

This was more a 4.5/5 than a 4. I absolutely loved this short, hot romance.

I read Books 1 & 2; I enjoyed 1, but not as much 2. So I didn't read Book 3. This one, though, had an arresting premise and I am soooo glad I listened to it. The story was good and the audio was even better.

I liked the relationship between the guys. Each was a good catch, but didn't have the self-confidence to realize it. So, they were doubtful of each other at first. but once they got together, it was soooo good.

Great chemistry. Great secondary characters. I just thought that Dylan started saying 'Baby' way too soon. I liked when Spencer finally said it. Seemed more organic then.

Overall, I liked the emotions it engendered. I'm amazed that this was so palpable, given the book's length. Ms. Grace seems to have that wonderful ability to get you to care about the characters and root for them! Good job, Ms. Grace. Will definitely want to read the next one.

Spencer & Dylan's Story. I'm glad that Geeky Spencer gets his HEA in this story and Dylan is a good match for him. Even though Dylan doesn't think he is... I was surprised that Spencer doesn't really have a huge issue with Dylan's job, but happy he is open minded about it. I really liked hearing about the secondary Characters and cant wait to hear Georgie's book!
The Audio with Chris Chambers as the narrator was good. No problems with the narration.

She's had a few two / three stars that are diverting for an hour or so. This one though ... I'm not sure if it was a joke. I don't usually rate books that I DNF'd, but this is a buyer beware one - it's bad. Try Winter Chill if you are looking for something by her - not much substance, but it will give you some fuzzies.

'More Than Friends' is a very apt title for this series because apparently some them are 'mob muscle' and some of them are taking down the bad guys with lots of hot, steamy sex in between and pool of sex juice? Seriously I may need brain bleach to get past that one...I mean not even puddles...pools? Are they swimming in it? I shall let you know I'm off to the next book and oh...motorcycle gangs & rent boys! and I almost forgot art forgery...such busy, busy people.

Ok, I'm off to see what happens next...hopefully no more pools of sex juice because...sorry but yuck, that's right up there with leaky faucets.

I was lucky enough to receive a copy of this one from the author for an exchange of an honest review...

Here, we see Spencer, whom we met in Steve and Joey's book, he seemed so sweet and kinda shy and "dorky" but not in an actual dork way, in a techy, cute genius kinda way... in that one, we see Dylan, who was "working" for Joey's "ex" if you could call him that, Cristopher, I really felt for him in the last one and what he done for Spencer... sigh... how could you go into this one not loving them both already.... and come on... Look at that cover... How gorgeous!

Spencer and Dylan spend the next few days after Dylan stepped in front of a bullet for Spencer... thinking about each other but both of them have a hard time figuring out who needs to call who when they both can't get each other off their minds, and Spencers phone conversation with Steve when Dylan was on the phone with Joey had me literally LOL'ing, it was so cute, and highschool and soooo something I would do... I felt bad for Spencer for thinking he was so out of Dylans league cuz really he's a great guy, and he's just so sweet and he really hates when people are mad at him.... I mean how cute is that?.... And Spencer is a tad bit insecure, but not in a needy and obnoxious way, but in a shy and cute way.

Dylan takes over Paddles once Uncle Sal took care of Topher, but there's someone out to sabotage him. Getting close to Dylans family and a few of the boys who work for him, it gets pretty scary... Andre, who I really hope gets his own story, breaks my heart. I can't stand unsupportive families and I think he had quite the crush on Spencer, so I'm hoping he finds someone great to be good to him. I also loved seeing Steve and Joey happy and in love more than ever in this one. Georgie is absolutely adorable and I'm really hoping I get to read more about Spencer and Dylan. It was just getting good when their story ended but they got their HEA too! I'm very much looking forward to continuing on with the series! I can't wait to see whose next!!!

I really don't like starting books in the middle of a series, but if it is considered a standalone then I am OK with it. It was stated that this book could be read as a standalone. While I could agree and say that the overall story didn't need the previous stories in order to be fully understood, I definitely felt like I was missing something by not at least reading book 3 (Choosing Happy-Steve and Joey's story)...which sounds like it needs Books 1 and 2 (More Than Friends and Drunk in Love-Zach and Ryan's stories). It wasn't a big something, but I wished I better understood the relationships and backgrounds between the friends.

That said, the story was enjoyable. I liked Dylan and Spencer. Spencer was the shy, nerdy, rich guy and Dylan was the tough, buff, sexy body guard. It did surprise me a little bit that Dylan was as "clueless" as he was made out to be in the beginning, while seeming very smart and put together throughout the rest of the book. When the two finally got together, they were HOT! There was some nice action/mystery added to the story to give it a little more substance, too. That was enjoyable.

One thing I did like was having the POV with a little bit of overlap. I know for some it could get repetitive, but I thought it gave me a little more insight into the other persons POV during parts and I enjoyed that.

This was probably more of a 3.5 star read for me, but I am rounding up. I liked this book.

I received a copy of this audiobook from the author through the DBML Program in exchange for an honest review.

This was a very fast-paced adventure which apparently picks up where the previous book in the series left off. Although it can be read as a standalone, I found myself struggling with the cast of characters until I got further into the story and started to figure out all the relationships.

In this one, Spencer, a wealthy, geeky techie, is caught in the middle of a disaster as he tries to help a friend take down the leader of a Portland crime family. Dylan, a bodyguard for one of the players in the drama, stepped in front of Spencer as a shot was fired, taking a bullet for him. Though not critically injured, Dylans recuperation gives the two men common ground on which to start their relationship.

Though it starts as simple sex, it’s evident that there’s more between the two men, and their feelings for each other grow. There are flights back and forth from the San Francisco area to Portland as the long distance relationship heats up. But there’s other characters involved in the story as well, characters such as Andre, the young man Dylan has been helping and several others who work for Dylan in the escort service he’s taken over. And there are evil forces at play as someone is trying to get to Dylan by hurting Andre so Spencer takes him to California to stay at his home temporarily. When the tough guys show up there, it looks like Dylan’s surprise visit to Spencer is going to be the death of him, literally.

As I said at the beginning, it’s a nice, fast-paced adventure, and I’m sure that if I had read the other stories I would have liked it a bit more because it’s so short I didn’t have time to get as fully invested in the characters as I would normally like to be. The audio version was very good with narrator Chris Chambers creating distinctive voices for the MCs and doing a good job with the narrative parts of the story. I’d recommend this to those who are following the story and to those who like a nice hot, sexy, adventure with two very appealing men who will heat up your audio player nicely.

**I was given a copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.**

So this is more of a 3.5 but I have rounded up to a 4. What an interesting group of guys. Dylan and Spencer met rather unconventionally at the end of book 3 Choosing Happy (More Than Friends, #3) by Aria Grace so you should read that book before you try this one. Dylan has now been given more responsibility over the business now but I have to say that Dylan and his crew are not very clever criminals. That business with the cameras... shocking. Just from watching crime shows on television, I would have known what should have been done. However, it is the individual characters that mesmerize you. Spencer was adorkable with his geeky, stuttering self. Spencer is Steve's friend. I really liked him and his reaction to Dylan. And the secondary characters, Georgie and Andre really made an impression on me. I hope we get books about them. But Dylan was an enigma to me. Though the book is written in dual POVs, I still didn't connect with Dylan well. Almost as if his personality was one dimensional. I wonder if this is a trait in this author's books, but the relationship seemed to develop rather quickly. Now this wasn't insta-love in the least but I didn't really feel their togetherness. Not sure if that's making sense. It might be because they spend some time apart for a good portion of the book. We also don't get lots of sexy time. They have some phone sex but I wanted man on man love!! We do see Steve and Joey from book 3 and Joey is still the cutest. And my final quibble, if you will, is the random stuff that goes on - fires, drugging, Dylan's sister, Heather and her stuff - it didn't all make a lot of sense. . All in all, I wanted just a little more story and more of a meaningful connection between the MCs and a lot more sexy time. But the guys - Spencer, Steve,Joey, Andre, Georgie, even Dylan and the new hottie we meet, Patton, are all an excellent reason to read the book. Onto to book 5..

This is book four of the More Than Friends series but it can be read as a standalone.
This story talks about Spencer, a very smart and nice Geek that helps a friend to get an art dealer (and more) called Topher DeMoncaco, arrested. Everything seems good until he meets Dylan, Topher’s bodyguard, and when Topher understands that it is a set-up, he shoots to kill Spencer but Dylan takes the bullet for him.
And from there, everything changes: Spencer helps Dylan with anything he can but Dylan is a proud man so after the first day, he feels insulted by Spencer and his money . But there is that huge spark between them since the first moments together and even after the distance, the problems at Dylan’s work, they know that there’s more. We have the chance to meet different characters, like Steve and his boyfriend, Spencer’s mother , and others.
The final chapter was so sweet. Totally HEA. I really liked this book and the way the author made me feel close to Spencer, Dylan and Andre, as well. I wanted to hug Andre so bad.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Not a bad follow-up to Choosing Happy. This book is definitely not a standalone since it picks up right after Choosing Happy ends. This story centers around Spencer and Dylan. Spencer is Steve's friend that came down to pose as an art dealer. Dylan is Joey's friend who also is under the thumb of Topher.

Sparks fly instantly the moment Spencer and Dylan meet but these two are worlds apart. Spencer is rich and owns a successful dot com company. Dylan helps Topher run his male escort business and helps with other illegal dealings. The attraction is just too strong for them to ignore, but can they make it work coming from such different backgrounds and living in two different places? Also, someone is out to get Dylan. Can Dylan keep Spencer and his family safe from the threat? You'll have to read the story yourself to answer those questions.

Like I said, I enjoyed the book and it was a good follow-up to Choosing Happy, but it didn't feel as polished. I couldn't really connect with either character because soo much was going on. Were they really cute together....yes, most definitely but I wasn't invested in their relationship. In a way, this book felt like a build up to the other books in the series.

Overall, I'm happy to get a chance to read this book and I do want to read the others. I really hope Andre and Georgie get their own books soon.

One of my problems when reading a series that features a different couple with each entry is that I am just not ready to let go of the previous couple. This was no different. I went into it wanting to know more about Steve and Joey from Choosing Happy so it took me a few chapters to really get my hooks in.

I won’t lie. I didn’t feel the same emotional pull towards either Spencer or Dylan as I did for Steve and Joey in Choosing Happy. Having said that, I did find them intriguing and interesting, just not to the same caliber. Dylan steps into Topher’s role as boss very well. Almost as if he was born for it, without the sadistic tweaks that his former boss had. As for Spencer, well, he doesn’t really fit in Dylan’s world at first, but the author does an excellent job of blending the pair.

Before I end my review, I should make comment to the fact that it’s said that even though this is a series, these are standalone stories. I guess that’s true to an extent. I read the first entry, More Than Friends, last year. I have not read the second one. I did read the third entry, Choosing Happy, which I reviewed here earlier. I have to say that I am glad that I read Choosing before this one. Yes, it could be read by itself but personally, I would have felt lost not having understood why Dylan took a bullet for Spencer, which is where #3 ended and this one began.

So it is in my opinion that you should read Choosing Happy before reading Just Stay.

Dylan and Spencer meet and fall for each other under the strangest of circumstances. Spencer is working undercover trying to take down a Mafioso type family and Dylan is the targets friend and bodyguard. Dylan has been growing tired of Topher’s manipulations for a while, so when Topher pulls a gun on Spencer, Dylan steps in the way. Over the next several weeks, Dylan and Spencer exchange phone calls and get to know one another better through long distance calls and occasional phone sex. When Topher’s sins fall back on Dylan and Spencer winds up sideways involved, Dylan will do whatever it takes to keep the man he’s fallen for out of harm’s way.

I was surprised by where the storyline in the book went, pleasantly surprised. There is a mystery that slowly unravels and I was kind of on the edge of my seat throughout. I loved the chemistry between Dylan and Spencer, but Grace also took the time to let them get to know each other before they fell into bed, and eventually in love. They were sexy and passionate and sometimes surprising with where they went intimately speaking.

This is the first book I’ve listened to with this narrator and he wasn’t half bad. There were a few characters that had the same vocal tone, so that was a little confusing, but the main characters all had their own voice, so he is forgiven. I’ll be looking for more of his work, that’s for sure. If you are looking for a short, suspenseful, sexy story then this one is a must read.

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. This is book 4 in the series and I would recommend reading book 3 first as it picks right up where that one ended.

This instalment in the series follows the budding relationship of Spencer, millionaire computer super-geek and Dylan, former aide & bodyguard to a notorious crime boss and is told in dual POV. Talk about opposites attract!!

I wondered how this was going to play out with the quintessential bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks. Dylan has a heart of gold doing what he has to in order to protect his family and the ones he come to care for. He finds himself falling for your typical nerdy character in Spencer who has the money & will to help those he cares about but is still trying to find where he fits in.

I really enjoyed this instalment and it was a quick, easy read which kept you guessing how it was going to turn out as our heroes are faced with some perilous situations to overcome including coming to terms with what they mean to each other. I didn’t ‘feel’ these two as much as Steve and Joey, but I blame that on still being in a sappy funk from reading their book ;)

Dylan still made me sigh in the end when he says to Spencer:

“But I want you with me. Please stay.”

I look forward to reading more in the series and maybe getting the chance to hear how some of my favourites are getting on!

Loved this story. A story of two men who were meant to be together. Dylan, a bodyguard of a mafia member, and Spencer, a computer geek and self made man, meet in an undercover fraudulent painting activity that Spencer was helping with. Ends up Dylan realizes his boss finds out and Dylan sees he is about to shoot Spencer. Dylan jumps in front of Spencer taking the bullet in the shoulder and Spencer stays with him all the way to the hospital and takes Dylan to his hotel room through that night. The attraction between them seems to flair up at that moment. The two can't stop thinking about each other. Phone sex, a get together with friends which ends in them getting in bed until Dylan's job of managing a man's brothel interrupts. This story is full of drama, emotion, and Hot Sex. They decide at the beginning they were going to be exclusive and it just brings them closer and closer as danger continues to fall into their laps. Ride this story of two men who fall in love no matter what happens....Can this computer mogul and this mafia related man continue a relationship with everything coming up against them to destroy them? Great Read...Loved it. Loved the characters. You will too. Great Story and Hot Sex.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Just Stay is a short novel about Spencer, a successful IT geek and Dylan, a college educated guy who somehow got tied up with the mob running a male brothel. The premise is a little far-fetched, but the characters are very engaging and it's a fun read with lots of heat if you can suspend belief a bit. The best part about the book for me was the chemistry between the characters. Both have instant lust for each other, but not insta-love which I was glad to see. Each was unsure and jealous of the other, but still wanted to work things out. That part of the dynamic between the main characters felt very real to me. Because of all the craziness going on around them, they actually didn't have much opportunity to be together physically until the end when they finally had time to get really hot and heavy. Nicely done.

I also loved the secondary characters, Andre a shy artist and Georgie, a flamboyant male prostitute. I'd like to see more of these characters in future books in the series. I think they both have a lot of potential as interesting characters.

This is a fun, quick read, and who doesn't love a story where the geek gets the hot guy?

another good book in this series!

i love the hot nerd so spencer is a great addition to the characters in this series! he is strong and vulnerable at the same time. he's looking for a permanent relationship and was struck dumb when he first met dylan. he's a little nervous about such a 'stud' being interested in a geek like him and is unsure of himself and their relationship through most of the book. dylan feels like he's in limbo since his boss (to whom he was indentured) is brought down. he is immediately smitten with spencer but doens't think he's good enough for him. the vulnerability shown but this strong man is endearing. they seem to skirt around whether or not they both want a permanent relationship but deep down they both do.

this book is pretty action packed with a couple of quick, hot sex scenes. i was a little disappointed in the ending...the door seems to be wide open for their future but the next book is about someone else entirely. i'm hopeful we'll see more of these 2 in the next book.

Another fast-paced read in the More Than Friends series. The romance in this one is kind of an opposites attract story with the geeky Spencer and the mafia tough, Dylan. I say kind of because neither of these characters are the typical stereotype of what they represent. Spencer is a self-professed geek, but he does step outside the box when he needs to. Dylan is smart, caring, and unsure of himself. I have to say that even though I liked both characters, I never quite bought in to them as a couple. Something about them just didn't quite mesh for me. That aside, the story, with its suspense and drama of the fallout from Choosing Happy, was good. Plus, I was glad to see a bit more of Steve and Joey, an added bonus! Although the blurb does indicate that this is a standalone, and I suppose that it could be read on its own, but I would highly recommend reading the previous book, Choosing Happy, to fully understand the relationships as well as knowing why certain things are happening.

This story is my favorite so far in the More Than Friends series. Aria's writing style is wonderful and I find myself captivated by her stories! In Just Stay, we pick up right where the previous book ended. This book takes us on the journey of Dylan and Spencer, who are definitely attracted to each other, but they live far apart. Can a long distance relationship last? After a tragic event causes Spencer to provide a place to stay for young Andre, Dylan can't help but be jealous. Aria kept me in a state of panic to find out if they would be able to make a go of this new relationship or if they had too much working against them. This one was an absolute page turner for me! I could hardly put it down!

I really liked this book! The rest of the series is definitely going on my TBR shelf. I love me some geeky and shy MCs so of course I adored Spencer :)

I never thought I'd say this but I'm starting to enjoy multiple first person POVs. As long as they are done well and the author keeps it perfectly clear whose POV you are reading. Which this author did perfectly.

Andre also stole my heart. I would love for him to get his HEA. I'd be all over that book. Hopefully he'll get his story soon.

Last thing is I have to give kudos to the audio narrator, Chris Chambers. He was fantastic!!

Final rating 4.5 stars.

I couldn't suspend disbelief enough for this one. What man nuzzles and whispers comforting words into the ear of a man he's literately just met (even if the guy just took a bullet for him) when a psycho mob guy is waving a gun around a few feet away? After all the drama where are the police in this? There seems to be no legal follow-up/testimony. Furthermore if you were a filthy rich genius computer guy why would you put yourself at risk to date/sleep with a guy who you know is running an arcade and gay whorehouse for the mob? The mob almost got Mr. Computer Genius dead once. I couldn't finish it. This was featured on one of the free/reduced priced book-of-the-day sites to be a teaser for the series, but I didn't find anything to win me over.

Unexpected, sweet, and unique, this story got me right from the first two paragraphs. What? A guy he doesn't know took a bullet for him? Count me in. I love stories like this that make me laugh and gasp at the same time.

The ultimate good boy meets the ultimate bad boy, and of course, they fall for each other. I didn't feel the intensity of their attraction as much as I have in other books in Aria Grace's series, but I did want them to make it work. The resolution to the climax of the story seemed a little too easy and a bit rushed, but otherwise I really enjoyed it and read it in one sitting. I'll continue to read all the others that come along too!

As hard as it is for me to say, I must be honest - I didn't find this book as easy to read. Although, when I first discovered who the characters were in relation to the previous book, I couldn't bring myself to stop. I found this book a little more challenging as the writing caused my flow of reading to slow down. The grammatical errors and missing words and punctuation encouraged me to re-read parts of the text but the main storyline was enjoyable, though, and I do not regret for one moment reading it as it is part of a fantastic set of stories all interlinked in mysteriously unpredictable ways.

I liked this story. It was fun and light for the most part. I enjoyed seeing Dylan and Spencer taking time to build their relationship even if it was because of distance. They mystery aspect was good, but it didn’t feel completed. We’re not really sure why the person was attacking or who the actual target was. It was nice seeing Joey and Steve from the previous book in this series and getting to see they were still happy together.

Just Stay is book 4 of the More Than Friends series and you really need to read book 3, Choosing Happy, to understand the relationships between all the characters.

I loved the slow build up between Dylan and Spencer and how their attraction grew despite the drama surrounding Dylans job. Dylan is an ex-bodyguard and Spencer is a tech geek so they make an unlikely match on the outside but they’re both kind and loyal to the ones they care about and would do anything to help them.
These two are so sweet together and as complete opposites it took time for them to find their place together. It was nice that Steve and Joey were part of their story as they are still my favourite couple so far.
