Two Faced Review

Book Rating: 5 stars out of 5.

Story Line: 5 stars out of 5. This book was amazing! I enjoyed it so much. I wish I had read this book sooner. (November was a really bad reading month for me. I got sick. When I'm sick I rarely read.) I was hooked to this book right away. I wanted to learn more about Caity and Eric. I'm also glad that Eric had his own P.O.V. in this story.

It's Caity's first year in UCLA. She and Eric have a beautiful relationship. It starts to get rocky when Caity discovers something sinister going on at the school. Eric's step brother, Connor, is now at UCLA. He is playing for the Bruins. Eric and Caity go to his first game. Thanks to her special ability, Caity, sees under Connor's mask. What she sees causes her to expect that Connor is high on drugs. Eric starts to feel anger because of it. He doesn't want someone he looks up to...to be hooked on drugs. He has seen it before in his life.

Also Caity doesn't like one of Eric's favorite teachers, Professor Hoffman. She is getting weird vibes from him.

Throughout the book Caity reads more masks to unlock the truth about what is going on. She finds the clues that will help unlock the mysteries behind why students are being drugged.
I don't want to go into too much more detail. I don't want to give too much away about the book. (I have already started book 3 and love it.)

Characters I Like;

Caity- I love her so much. She is a really strong protagonist. I connect with her more in this book than I did in the other ones. She really showed her strength in this book. I'm happy she has the power to read behind people's masks. She really does have a big heart.

Eric- I feel bad for him in this book. He had to go through a lot when he was younger. I also have a stronger connection with him as well. He made some dumb decisions in this book.

Scott- Met him in the first book. I'm glad he had more of a role to play in this book. He was a great character.

Detective Sullivan- He's a cool guy. I really liked him a lot.

Characters I don't like;
Piper- Her attitude kind of annoyed me. I felt a bit bad for her, but ugh. She was annoying and gullible.

Professor Hoffman- Ugh, the worst character ever. Really hated his guts throughout the whole book.

Cameron Darby- Just as bad as Hoffman. I don't hate him as much. I wish I could take an ak47 to both of them though.

Liam&Mason Donovan- They both got what they deserved in this book. (I still had a bit of empathy for Liam, but not Mason.)

Kaplan- She pissed me off. I don't like her at all.

No favorite quotes in this book. I hope to find some soon!

I'm so excited for the release of this book. It was actually a really hard one to write and I thought my brain was going to short-circuit a couple of times. I struggled with the interweaving story lines and I thought I'd written an epic fail.

BUT... now that it's done and ready to go, I'm so super excited. For all my angst writing it, I feel as though it may be one of my strongest books. Thanks to the help of my critique readers, awesome editor and eagle-eye proof-readers, Two-Faced has turned into an entertaining novel filled with excitement, tension, mystery and the ups and downs that come with the first year of a relationship.

Can't wait for you guys to take this journey with Eric and Caitlyn :)

Melissa Pearl is one of my favorite author, I've said that before already. And this book is one of the many reasons. Two Faced is jam packed with action, mystery, romance and thrill. I don't know how she did that, but she did and it's incredible! All the elements of a satisfying sequel is here and I was left craving for more Caity and Eric.

So.. Caity's story continues. At True Colors, we have seen her struggle about this gift of her by herself. But now, she has Eric. And she completely accepted the gift that has been given to her and even though she's not looking for trouble, trouble has it's way of finding her. In this sequel, we will see Caity grow as a the story's main character. I remember asking for some growing up on Caitys part in my review of True Colors and Melissa gave that. She even thrown some Eric POV's! Yep, she loves us. We are spoiled readers.

I really enjoyed being inside Eric's head. I think him giving his voice about what is happening is a great addition to the series. I honestly can't wait for more from him. Two Faced is plot driven and it will keep you at the edge of your seat. It will make you think and you will surely find yourself solving the mystery along with Caity and Eric.

And lastly, brace yourselves because this is jut me fangirling about Eric and Caity.

Can I say hello HOTNESS and SEXYNESS. I don't know if Melissa Pearl will read my review but if she does, this is me wishing to Melissa to give us (or just me but I know I'm not the only one who want this) a novella maybe or just a chapter, really, where its just Caity and Eric and there is no bad guy's ass to kick. But this is just me wishing (or begging idk)

Overall, Two Faced is an evidence that this series is a hit. It's utterly satisfying and the plot was well thought the characters are more brilliant than before and I can't get enough! I can't wait for more Eric and Caity in the future!

EEEPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!! Another amazing book by the wonderful Melissa Pearl!!! I seriously couldn't put it down. Yes husband had to watch spawn so I could read. I was desperate for the next page!!!
I received an ARC of this book from Netgalley and I couldn’t have been more excited! Caitlyn has had her gift for a while now. However it’s still hard to handle normal life and her ability. Thankfully she has Eric. Her wonderful boyfriend to support her, and be there for her, now being away at college and nothing is going as it should
From suspicions, lies, mysteries, and new friends, Caitlyn and Eric are in for a wild ride when masks slip and Caitlyn sees something more is going on with the basketball team and the much loved Professor H. Things get rocky between Caitlyn and Eric which adds a little bit more to the book because of how both sides feel. It’s not always easy facing the truth about those you look up to. And it proves to make a wild ride for the couple as the both fall and dig deeper into the mystery. I honestly loved this book!

I demand MORE Caitlin and Eric. Stat!

While I didn't feel this book was as "hold on to your seat" dramatic as the first, I thoroughly enjoyed it and want more of it.

Like the first book, the protagonist is a strong, independent college girl who does what is right, even if it gets her into dangerous situations and makes her boyfriend mad as hell at her.

We could all use a little of her courage.

So good

I've so enjoyed reading these books so far and just what I was looking for. So very very thankful I didn't have to hate a certain character cause it might have made it a little awkward in person. ;)

This book was cute. We followed Caitlyn and Eric into collage together and she uses her gifts to solve a crime. A little Nancy drew with a special gift. It’s a light read and I enjoyed it. Eric introduces his step brother to Caitlyn but she notices something wrong. As she tries to figure it out she pulls back from Eric because he doesn’t want to believe that his step brother was bad. As Caitlyn digs into the situation things lead her to a dark path of drugs, gambling and a large ring of suspicious activity within the college. Check out this book nothing crazy just a good ol case solving mystery

***I received a free copy for an honest review***

Note: This review contains NO spoilers

Wow! Two-Faced is another amazing and emotional story by Melissa Pearl! A sequel to True Colors, Melissa deftly intertwined the paranormal and suspenseful drama into Caitlyn's life. From high school to college, life and growth happens, but with Caity's ability to see people's true emotions, life isn't as simple. Melissa has skillfully expressed the struggles and stress that Caity goes through in dealing and using her gift...that she never wanted, but takes responsibility for it. I loved the smooth flow and transition the characters and the story take into college life after high school.

This time, Two-Faced is told in two points of view (POV)...Caity's POV and Eric's POV. This is where the romance comes in...Caity really did fall for the boy next door, and Eric fell for Caity, the girl next door! Now, how sweet is that! However, their journey towards their relationship wasn't as simple...yes, the road to their relationship was a suspense thriller...haha! But, I can't say anymore....you must read True Colors to get that dramatic history behind Caity and Eric's relationship. I loved how real life issues have been beautifully interwoven into the story/plot.

Since reading True Colors, then Two-Faced, Melissa did an amazing job with the character development, especially when her characters made that transition from high school to college....they're not teenagers anymore! Loved it! Reminded me of when I had to transition from high school to college...it was nerve-wracking and stressful...hahaha!! With the beautiful character development and growth, I felt I was there with Caity...going through all her struggles and doubts about college, her gift...even her boyfriend! What!?!

Then...when I got to the climax of the story...Whoa! My heart was racing and pounding! I seriously held my breath as I turned the pages...the suspense was killing me! Like with True Colors, Caity (again) puts her life on the line to help others, because of her gift. I so love this character. She's vulnerable, yet, she finds the strength to help others. I think I started breathing again when I got to the end of the book...guess I let out a breath of relief, once I found out the outcome of all suspense Caity and her friends put me through...hahaha! Amazing read!

I am absolutely amazed at Melissa's brilliant ability to create such emotional and insightful characters, and to create a world that has its flaws, but yet, the beauty still shines. Filled with suspense and drama, Melissa still added the sweet romance to keep me swooning. From True Colors to Two-Faced, this series has definitely got me wrapped up in Caity's life and the gift she has been given. I so look forward to the next book in this amazing series!

Melissa Pearl has, again, written an amazing story filled with emotions and drama in any average college student life...but with the added paranormal element and that suspense mystery feel to it that will keep things interesting! I know I want more!!!

Two-Faced picks up right where True Colors ended. Caitlyn and Eric are both students at UCLA. Caitlyn is excited about starting her Freshman year in college and having a wonderful experience with Eric by her side. Unfortunately, her first semester starts off a little rocky.

Caitlyn is rooming with Nicole, a girl she met in high school and who made a brief appearance in True Colors. Unfortunately, it turns out the two of them don't get along very well. Nicole is a neat freak. Caitlyn isn't all that messy, but she's not nearly clean enough for Nicole's high standards. The two of them avoid each other as much as possible and merely co-exist in their dorm room when they are together.

Eric's step-brother transfers early on in the semester to play basketball for UCLA. Eric was great friends with Connor and really looked up to him. He takes Caitlyn to their first game, but Caitlyn sees something upsetting in Connor. He's high at the game, as he runs out onto the court. And it's not just Connor, but the entire team looks high. She can't figure out what's going on, but when she tells Eric, he doesn't want to hear anything about it. He knows that Connor would never take drugs.

There is also Professor Hoffman, the psychology professor that everyone on campus seems to love, including Eric. But Professor H gives Caitlyn the creeps. She pulls off his mask, but doesn't see anything too upsetting. She can't quite figure out what it is about him that bothers her.

All these things begin to add up to big problems between Eric and Caitlyn. When Caitlyn runs into Connor the day after the basketball game, he doesn't even remember meeting her the night before. This leads Caitlyn to believe that maybe Connor doesn't even realize he's being drugged. But Eric won't hear a word about it.

Things go from bad to worse when Nicole seems to get involved in something with Professor H's secret study group. Caitlyn begins to see several odd things around campus and wonders if the suspicious basketball team behavior might be related to Professor Hoffman. But she can't go to Eric because he seems to be distancing himself from her. Caitlyn is back on the case, literally, as she teams up with the police in trying to figure out what is going on at UCLA.

Two-Faced has more mystery, action, danger, and intrigue than True Colors. I found myself even more engaged in this book. The reappearance of Liam and Mason was an interesting twist. I enjoyed having Caitlyn get involved with the police. It will be interesting to see if that continues on in the series. I like the thought of Caitlyn going into law enforcement. Maybe not as a cop, but more as a consultant, like Castle! LOL. Two-Faced was also a quick read, but it didn't feel too short. A wonderful book and highly recommended for those who like mystery and romance!

Another great continuation of this series. I loved getting to see Caitlyn and Eric's characters again and continue on with this unique paranormal romance. This time round Caitlyn is at college and begins to notice something funny happening with the basketball team. Convinced they are on drugs, Caitlyn begins to investigate using her special ability to see beneath people's façades. Unfortunately this also puts her at odds with Eric, who's stepbrother, Conner, is one of the team's star players and somebody Eric really looks up to. Afraid of discovering unpleasant truths, Eric pulls away from Caitlyn which leads to Caitlyn giving in to her own insecurities about their relationship. From there the story progresses as both Caitlyn and Eric discover more about what is really going on with the basketball team and other suspicious people around campus. They also both learn what is really important to both of them. I won't give any more of the story away except to say there's a bunch more angst than in the first book, but the story eventually follows the same pattern and turns into an action/suspense finale.
I really enjoyed this book, despite all the angst. Normally I can't stand that sort of thing but in this case it wasn't too bad. Eric was really a bit of a dick at the beginning of a story; however, knowing his reasons, I find I can understand his severe reaction towards the possibility of Connor on drugs. I was also a bit frustrated with Caitlyn and the way she instantly went back to being timid and non-confrontational when things weren't going well. She started keeping things to herself and even though Eric started it, it certainly didn't make things any better. Fortunately they both got smart by the end of the story. Another thing I really liked about the book was getting to see Dale and Nikki from the Betwixt series again. They're both interesting characters and I liked seeing them as part of this story. I hope any future books will include them as well.
Overall, this was another fantastic read from Melissa Pearl. I'd recommend this book and the first one in the series if you are looking for a paranormal romance that is sweet but also really different and creative.

Although I liked this one, I was so frustrated with both Eric and Caitlyn that I didn't enjoy this as much, at first. Of course by the end, I was back to loving these two, but damn, I waffled between being mad at them and then not. What is funny about it is that they are still the same people from book one, but their interactions were so disappointing I wanted to shake them.

Both are now in college together and things are going well until Eric's step brother transfers in. A really nice guy that Eric has always looked up to, Eric is upset when Caity notices Connor's erratic behavior during a basketball game. When she tells Eric what she sees, he immediately begins to question if what she saw was real. The one person who knows about her gift, she doesn't expect this from him and it hurts. From here on out, the two are at odds. Neither wants to be and both try to work around it, but slowly, they both begin to keep things from the other rather than talk things out. As Caity begins to see other things and of course decides to use her gift to help those impacted by what she is seeing, she finds herself again in the midst of danger with Eric just wanting her to walk away.

I've loved Eric from the beginning and completely understand how protective he is with her, especially as she almost died in the last book. The thing is, as much as I love how protective of her he is, I also get frustrated that he continues to expect her to just let it go. She can't and he just needs to step up and support her. He also needs to be honest with her. You can't have a relationship with someone and have one set of expectations for them that you yourself are not willing to abide by. As for Caity, I actually liked her a heck of a lot more in this one. She still makes a few mistakes and hasn't grown as much as I would have liked in the confidence area (she still hates conflict and avoids it vs. meeting it head on), but she rocked in this one. At the end, the two came together and I was definitely reading as fast as I could.

This was a very good follow up to book one and I really enjoyed it. If you like YA books, with a bit of paranormal, then definitely read this series. I highly recommend it.

Title: TWO-FACED
Series: Masks #2
Category /Genre: Fantasy, NA
Recommended for: 18+ due to (mild) sexual content
Grammar/editing: ungraded – book received as an unedited ARC / errors excused
Received from: Melissa Pearl (in exchange for an honest review)

This is the second book in the MASKS series. They do need to be read in order.

The first year in college is supposed to be amazing. For Caity, her first year includes a bitchy roommate, frustrated love, and suspicions about the teacher-everyone-loves. When she “sees” drug abuse among the varsity basketball players, including Eric’s idolized step-brother, protection leads to secrets which lead to insecurities for both of them. When she realizes that Connor doesn’t even know that he was drugged, Caity knows she needs to chase the masks again to determine how to protect her friends. Can she find the source of the drugs? Can she, Eric, and their friends find the truth behind the masks?

I was looking forward to what adventures Caity would find next with her gift of seeing beyond the masks that polite society, and the devious, put into place every day. I was not disappointed! Caity and Eric are wonderful together. High school is behind them and they are ready to explore a more adult relationship. Caity is a perfect balance of strong enough to stand up for herself and sweet enough to be sensitive to her friends, especially her boyfriend. Speaking of boyfriends, Eric is prime book boyfriend material. He’s hot, alpha, and sensitive, with just a little imperfection that makes him perfect.

When I received the email asking if I wanted to review this book, I squealed! Literally. Out loud. I’m glad I was alone at the time. Melissa Pearl has a loyal reader here. I look forward to more un-masked adventures with Caity, Eric, and their friends.

>Book review - Two Faced

>I received this book from the author and from Paranormal Romance and Authors that Rock. This is the second book in the Masks series and ends with an HEA.

>The story of Eric and Caity continues. It is now 8 months later and Caity is a freshman at UCLA, while Eric is a sophomore. Caity sees weird masks on the basketball team members, one of which is Eric's step brother. She thinks it must be drugs, but when she mentions that thought to Eric, for the first time, he doesn't believe her. That relationship wedge, along with sexual frustration and roommate issues, is enough to bring this fledgling relationship to its knees.

>Communication is the key to any relationship and Caity and Eric learn this the hard way. Going through troubling times will often cause a relationship to become stronger as is the case here. This story has way more to it than just the romance. The suspense is thick as Caity, Eric and their roommates attempt to figure out who is drugging the basketball players and what/who else is involved.

>I disliked the FBI character. I felt that using teens in a sting operation, was not something that would have EVER happened. Letting the danger continue without action on the part of the professionals was very unprofessional. I did like the character tie in with book one and how easily the author is able to describe the burden Caity lives with, with her "gift". Seeing people's emotions and peeling back masks cannot be an easy thing to describe in a non boring, flowing and interesting way and Melissa Pearl nails it. I can't wait to read more about Eric and Caitlyn, as they grow together and what is seen next.

> This book is for a young adult (18+) audience for implied drug use and sexual situations.

I received this book from Mark My Words Publicity in return for a fair and honest review.

We rejoin Caity and Eric as they go through their first year at college. Not only does Caity have the usual stresses of college - completely opposite roommate, disliking certain teachers, frat parties, etc - but she also has to cope with her ability to "de-mask" people. She is trying to have a 'normal' life but sometimes the mask will take over and she will do what she thinks is right, even if sometimes it isn't.

She is getting more used to being able to handle her ability but there is friction between herself and Eric as he struggles to understand and appreciate her ability. On the one hand, he accepts and relies on what she has to say she has seen 'behind the mask' but only when it suits him. He doesn't want to have his illusions shattered when it is about someone he likes, respects or cares about.

This is the start of a tumultuous time for them both as they try to figure out who is doing what, who is saying what, how something could be happening as well as dealing with a suddenly rocky relationship and helping their friends too.

This is the second story in the Masks series and you will need to read book 1 first but I can highly recommend both books. I turned the first page of both books and was immediately sucked into Caity's world as she deals with her ability and friends alike. It was really good to see 'old' friends in Two-Faced and to see how they have progressed during the time we've been gone. And that is how the books feels. Like it's real, like these characters are friends that you know and care about.

Excellently written and well-paced building up to the climax, I really can't recommend this highly enough.

Another exciting addition to the Masks Series. Caitlyn has now started college and is enjoying her relationship with Eric. However, not all is great as school isn't quite what she imagined and her roommate and her are complete opposites. But things are about to heat up and those issues take a back seat.

At a basketball game, Caitlyn sees some interesting things with the players and she begins to suspect that they are all high. One of the players is Eric's step-brother, Connor, and Eric goes into denial mode thinking that his brother doing drugs is impossible. There's some history there for Eric but he doesn't want to tell Caitlyn. She decides that she has to help, because that's what she does. Learning that Connor may not have even known he was high only ups the stakes in Caitlyn's mind.

This is where Eric starts to act like a jerk and I had a hard time with his behavior. I got it, but I sure didn't like it. He starts asking Caitlyn to deny her gift though he'd been so accepting of it before. This creates a major rift and their relationship goes through a rocky patch.

Once Eric pulls his head out, he gets his act together to help Caitlyn get to the bottom of an intricate scheme going down at UCLA that is much bigger than a drugged sports team. Things get better for them then and the romance gets back on track. Eric is back to being heroic and Caitlyn can depend on him like she used to.

This book focused more on the mystery than the love story at times, but it was still fast-paced and enjoyable even though I like a love story first, mystery second. This is a quick read and the plot moves along without a hitch.

Jump on the Roller-coaster....

I was so impatient for Two-faced to be released, I couldn't wait to get my hands on it! When I received an email inviting me to do a review and receive an early copy of the book I couldn't respond fast enough. I could not wait to find out what was in store for Caity and her gift of seeing behind the masks people display to the world. I also couldn't wait to see what would happen with Eric, her amazingly understanding and down to earth boyfriend.

Well, let me tell you. I was pleasantly pleased with everything that happened in this book! From beginning to end this book had you twisting and turning like a roller coaster. We see Caity and Eric just starting out their college career, finding new friends and staying in touch with old friends. We also get to see Caity's gift take on a new twist when she attends a basketball game with Eric. I'm not going to give anything away, but goodness do things get interesting.
All in all, I would say if you pick this book up to read, you won't be disappointed. Make sure you read book one in the series first, or you will miss a lot of important details...OH and guess what, Melissa Pearl is going to be doing a 3rd book in the Mask Series, so we will be able to continue our journey with Caity and Eric.

As a final note, I have to say. It's a rare thing to find an Author that truly can bring her characters to life on the pages of a novel. Melissa Pearl is a talented Author and I'm so thrilled that I stumbled across her books. With out a doubt I would say Melissa Pearl falls in love with the characters she creates and we as readers are lucky to be able to share in that love affair.

This is such a different story – I loved it!

There was so much in this book it could be classified under several categories: YA, paranormal, thriller, suspense, mystery…

I had no idea what to expect when starting this book and was pleasantly surprised. This was definitely not your typical collage age romance story. The romance part, almost took a back seat to the mystery/thriller storyline but still played a prominent role throughout.

The main character Caitlyn has a gift of being able to read people’s emotions by peeling off their faces (mentally) and seeing what emotions lie underneath their expressions. This gift can be a blessing and a curse as we find out in this book.

Since there is a mystery involved with this story I do not want to give too much away. I did find myself trying to solve it along with the characters. However the details about the mystery evolved as the story went on so it left the reader trying to put the puzzle pieces together until almost the end of the story.

There was also a thriller aspect to the story. As the characters were investigating the mystery, they found themselves in some dangerous situations. These scenes had my heart pounding trying to figure out what was going to happen next and if they were going to make it.
There was a romance aspect to the story that enhanced it rather than take away from it. It was not the main theme in the story but was carried throughout which helped drive the decisions made by the characters and guide the story.

If you are looking for something different to read that has mystery, thrills, romance and a paranormal base, this is definitely one to pick up!

Caitlyn is at college now along with her boyfriend Eric. Nikki & Dale also drop in through out the story which I loved! All is going great until they attend a home basketball game to watch Eric's stepbrother Connor play who has just transferred to their school. Caity notices some strange mannerisms coming from the players during the game. She can sense something is wrong but can't figure out what it is yet. Then there is their professor who gives her the heebie jeebies as well but can't read anything significant under his mask. Eric's brother Connor doesn't remember meeting Caity the night of the game nor the night in general.

Questions start to arise but Eric is in denial. He doesn't think anything is amiss with his brother nor their professor all the while making Caity doubt herself and her sight. Caity is second guessing everything now including their relationship. Eric won't believe anything bad is going on and refuses to think that his brother is just another loser who will let him down. Both are torn over what to do and what to share with the other which seems to make them drift apart.

With Nikki & Dale by their sides, a few eye opening conversations, and a bit of patience can it be sorted out? What will the four of them discover when they do some digging about the weird things happening on campus? Can they stop what ever it is? Find out when you BUY yourself a copy! Enjoy more Eric and Caitlyn today!! Pssst did I tell you that Dale & Nikki make cameos?!?! Well they do ;) and I for one have missed them!!!

The gift of seeing people's true emotions is a powerful one and is a power that Caitlyn doesn't take lightly even after the events of True Colors. She has a determination to make things right where she sees a wrong. Her nature of wanting the best for people means that she can't ignore the things that she sees. Her boyfriend, Eric, is usually so supportive of her gift but when it reveals something that he doesn't want to believe in two people he admires and looks up to, he begins to question her gift and her ability.

Caitlyn struggles with this rejection from Eric and it drives a wedge between them both. Caitlyn's determination to find the truth leads her into danger as the plot is far bigger than anyone could have imagined. I love the courage that Caitlyn shows in following her gift to right a wrong even though it could result in her losing Eric or even her life.
Eric's reluctance to believe Caitlyn is down to fear than an actual disbelief in her gift. His past is catching up with him and forcing him to confront it head on. It is only as he starts to open his own eyes and recognise that there are things going on around him that he starts to find his faith in Caitlyn again.

I love Melissa Pearl's writing in this series. Teenage angst and problems amplified by Caitlyn's ability to see people's true faces and seeing that so many people are two faced and have two faces. I'm really looking forward to seeing what is next for Caitlyn and Eric.

I love Melissa Pearl; her stories have a freshness about them that I always enjoy - she has a talent for exposing unexpected faults in her characters and she definitely knows just how to turn them into endearing qualities that draw you in. I’m always so happy to discover hidden meaning in Melissa’s stories and the characters that tell them.

In Two Faced, I found the writing (as usual) smooth and easy to read - there is no doubt that Melissa can execute a well structured book - but I have to admit I wasn’t captivated by it. The situation in which Caitlyn finds herself and the lengths she will go to, to help a friend and solve a crime are commendable but instead of her talent being fully explored and pushing at some boundaries, I felt that she was stifled by it instead.

For me there was an element of suspense and thrill missing from the story and I just wasn’t drawn in, it all felt a little too safe for me.

Please don’t get me wrong, the story is very good but I really wanted to know more about Caitlyn’s new talent and I didn't get that.

Overall, Two Faced is another great read from Melissa Pearl and there is a sensitivity that underlines everything she writes, making the experience about so much more than just reading a book; and because of that, I give this book 4 stars.

Two Faced is the type of sequel I love; one that invites the reader to enter further into the lives of the characters and develops the original story.
In this book Melissa Pearl makes one huge change from True Colors. Now the narrative is shared between Cailtyn and Eric. This allows us to share their emotions and different viewpoints about the drama which unfolds. I really liked that fact that in Two Faced Melissa Pearl shows that not every fictional romance is perfect. Both characters are heavily involved in this plot, but they have very different attitudes towards events, which puts strain on their relationship. They both also feel a frustration at not being able to progress their physical relationship.
In Two Faced Caitlyn is much more confident about using her talent, but as with the first story this leads her into a precarious situation. The mystery is complicated and I found Melissa Pearl’s writing style quickly sucked me in, although I think any reader will predict the circumstances in which further sequels will progress.
Two Faced is a great story, well told by Melissa Pearl and I am sure it will be enjoyed by many YA and NA readers.

A star basketball player who may have been drugged without his knowledge. A college girl being blackmailed by a professor. A man whose death isn't as accidental as it seems. Could they all be connected? Caitlyn Davies thinks so and with her ability to see the truth behind the masks people wear, she's determined to find out just what that connection is. Even if it means putting herself in harm's way once again.

Two Faced is a sort of fantasy/detective story. It has all the components for a Veronica Mars type plot, but with the added dash of the main character having the special ability to see people's true emotions. The story is quick paced with never a dull moment. It has a nice mixture of action, story, and romance sure to please any fan of amateur sleuth novels.

Caitlyn is a solid three dimensional character whose need to right the wrongs she can't help but see is bound to get her into trouble. She and her boyfriend, Eric, have a tumultuous relationship as a result of her need, leading to anger, confusion, and misunderstandings. Watching the two of them interact and struggle to deal is as interesting and entertaining as the novel's main plot.

Seeing behind a person`s mask can sometimes be a gift or a curse. Caitlyn just wanted to enjoy college life not be confused and enstranged with her new boyfriend. Eric is the only one who knows what`s going on in her life. So knowing that his brother might be doing drugs is tearing them apart. I loved that Melissa Pearl has once again put Caitlyn in a situation she never saw coming yet is the only one who can make things right. Set in the college life you expect this to happen yet Melissa Pearl twists it in a way far beyond your usual money and drugs. Eric I have to applaud for always being there even though it pains him of what the outcome might be with his brother, Caitlyn is the one for him. Can`t wait for Part 3 in this series and what else Caitlyn will unmask.

~~I received this book in exchange for an honest review~~

This is the second book in The Masks series. This book is better than the first one. Caitlyn has figured out how to keep peoples true feelings hidden. But every now and then she sees somethings that she really doesn't want too. This time, instead of high school problems, she is in college. She gets a funny feeling when she is around one of her professors and it isn't the good kind of funny. Can her and Eric stay strong during this year? Can Eric trust her enough to help her out?

Man, these books just keep getting better and better. Melissa keeps her readers wanting more. She keeps the suspense in her writing. But she does it without making you sweat. I can't wait to see what she comes out with next!!

This book is now one of my favorite reads, I did not know this was book two at first
when I was asked to read this book. So I stopped and read brook one in the series which explains how Caytlin gets her powers of being able to read someone's emotions so if you have
not read book 1. I would suggest you get that one first. both books were amazing and I'm
looking forward to reading the third book when it comes out next year. the story is well
written, Melissa pearl has a way of drawing you into the story. To a point that you lose
track of time. I finished the book at 3am and had to be up at 5am but it was so worth
The lost sleep, this book is just that good.

This was a brilliant follow-on novel to True Colors!
Getting inside Eric's head was an interesting development, and it also spun a completely different view on Caitlyn's world. The plot is intricate in detail, with loads of twists and turns. It will keep the reader, reading - and that's brilliant.
From new life at college, sports, study, and doping - this fantastic new novel is a definite pick up in the Mask Series world. I would recommend this book and series to anyone who loves romantic suspense with a little bit of magical skills.

Another hit for this series!! Some gifts can be equal parts blessing and dangerous. Caitlyn knows this more than most and in this book the danger is very real and farther spread than anything she ever imagined. There was so much mystery, action, tension, and danger you were kept on the edge of your seat the entire time. I loved the inclusion of one of my fav MP couples, Dale and Nicole! Very excited for how this series is progressing!

I did not like this book as much as the first one. Eric is toxic in his role as the brooding boy with a dark past, and he takes it out as anger directed at Caity (but at least he acknowledges it). Caity has zero sense of self-preservation (she plans to go to a sketchy-ass cabin in the middle of the woods where she KNOWS there is armed crime happening) and then has the nerve to complain how everything bad always happens to her (meanwhile poor Piper over here can't catch a break). Also, the little drama of Piper and Caity being incompatible roommates really irked me because their problem literally could've just been solved by them talking about it (the problem? Keeping their dorm room clean). The crime drama was kinda interesting, but also infuriating in a way. I don't like the Caity and Eric romance because I think there is zero depth to the relationship besides Caity liking to watch him surf shirtless and Eric possessively getting angry whenever Caity talks to another guy. I don't know if I care enough to read the next book.
