Four erotic stories of love across time… Mirrorlight – When Cora Grames is abandoned in England at a haunted castle, she feels very sorry for herself…until she sees the sexy man in the mirror that only appears to her. And when she finds out that she can touch him, he suddenly becomes more than a fantasy. But how can she fight for a man that doesn’t exist in her time? Shimmerlight – Chloe Sorenson’s just started a brand new job at Ms. Muffet’s art gallery. However, no one told her that the latest auction piece – a sculpture of a handsome Roman soldier – comes to life. Think it’s hard to explain to your boss why you’re fondling a statue? Try explaining to the statue why you’re holding his, uh, fig leaf. Darklight – When Rose Hawthorne accepts the task that her fairy godmother sets upon her, it seems straightforward steal a flower from the underworld. Now, she’s been kidnapped by an all-too seductive dark god who wants to teach her all the exquisite ways of passion…and Rose wants more than anything to be his willing pupil. Sunlight - There’s a few problems with the new ‘Rapunzel’ on the block. For one, her hair is enchanted to grow at the slightest hint of sunlight. And her handsome prince? Not so handsome. But he’s accompanied by a big, burly Scotsman who makes a girl’s heart flutter wildly. With Callum’s help, Rapunzel just might lick this curse thing. Once she stops licking Callum’s muscles, of course… This anthology features the four novellas in the Time Travel series in one lower-priced package! JILL MYLES writes as Jessica Clare and Jessica Sims.
A NOTE ABOUT FRIENDING: I will happily friend you back if you friend me! Goodreads is, after all, about discussing books we both love. I will NEVER self-promote my books to you. And if you self-promote your books to me, no matter how nicely, I'm deleting you off my list. Sorry. Goodreads is about fun, not spam.
A NOTE ABOUT MY REVIEWS: Hey, look at that! Most of my reviews are really positive! This is not me kissing ass - It's because at heart, I am a lazy reader. If I'm not enjoying a book, I don't finish it. I don't review anything I didn't finish, ergo, most of the reviews I put up here are pretty much positive across the board because I finished them and was happy with the story. Makes sense, right?
This is a collection of four short stories (each about 90 pages) about a woman, single with some kind or other of emotional baggage, meeting a sexy guy not quite from "here". I read only the first two stories but had to quit due to sex-overload. I like Jill Myles (aka Jessica Claire aka Jessica Sims), but I do prefer the books that have more story than sex. This here was, definitely, the other way around.
This book is the fourth in the Once Upon a Time Travel series and can be read as a standalone book. It is four novellas in one book.
This book will take you through four fairy tale stories. A version of Pygmalion, Rapunzel, Persephone and Hades and Mirror Man/lover. They are all good but short stories without a ton of depth but still entertaining. Enjoyable quick reads.
I picked this up because I read and enjoyed The Beast's Bride. I read the first three stories (I wasn't interested in the Hades and Persephone retelling). These stories have the same style as The Beast's Bride, but they are shorter so they don't have the room to stretch. Still, I think they are OK if you want something quick to read on a lunch break.
Cute and smutty. Easy reads, not a whole lot of relationship building or substance, but good for soothing my itch to read without staying up all night devouring a whole book!
Ok this one was in the same pattern as the last but with another artifact as a link and this time it's the artifact itself she falls in love with which is kinda nice in a way.
- I liked how the hero instantly grew attached to the heroine since she is the first ever to make him to back to a man just with hero touch
- I liked how comfortable they were together even though they didn't know each other long
- And this hero hands down is the oldest hero I read about timeline wise XD
- The ending was a bit sad for the heroine and more so for the hero but the end of the ending was nice XD
Overall, *thumbs up*
-------------------- Mirrorlight (Once Upon a Time-Travel)
This is the first of a couple of short stories and I have to say I loved them!! They weren't like the others with a twist in a fairy tale it was more like a myth or a legend come to life like time travel related artifacts and stuff XD
This book centers around a heroine that no one thinks has much of a future and doesn't trust with a hero she can't even have a conversation with but in a way they connect through a mirror and through time XD
- I liked the idea of two people who though they don't have much in life but in a way found someone to connect to and what more that someone isn't from their timeline
- the background story for the hero was a bit sad and I almost cried near the end but thankfully what I was scared would happen didn't happen
- I liked the ending and what I loved most about this authors endings is that when the hero and heroine are finally together they stick like glue to each other when they think there is the slightest hint of them being separated from each other XD
Overall, *thumbs up*
------------------------- Dark Light (Once Upon a Time Travel)
I loved this one!!!! Greek mythology was always a favorite topic of mine and reading a twist like this is amazingly amazing XD
- I loved Hades and Persephone they were amazing together XD
- I loved how he wanted her the second he saw her
- I loved how the author painted Hades as the good guy who always keeps his word and the other guys as the spoiled frivolous ones XD
- I was shocked when I read the description of this book because it contained a warning about a somewhat exhibitionist sex XD but yeah it was cool too XD
- I loved the ending, really loved it in how the heroine achieved her goal and at the same time showed Hades Taft she wants him more than anything
Overall, *thumbs up*
----------------------- Sunlight (Once Upon a Time Travel)
Ok now we are back to the fairy tales we know - Rapunzel
- The heroine was the innocent type and always looking to be on the optimistic side since she used to have a bad heart condition so basically she's always nice XD
- I liked how she met the hero and they clicked eighth away XD
- Thank god like the rest she didn't follow muffin's instructions and seduce the wrong guy cause the other guys sucked the hero was much much better
- I liked how the hero always thought of her and her safety and what was best for her
- I liked how the heroine gathered her courage to do anything possible so she might end up with the hero
Once Upon Another Time enthält die 4 netten, kleinen Kurzgeschichten "Mirrorlight", "Shimmerlight", "Darklight" und "Sunlight".
Mirrorlight – When Cora Grames is abandoned in England at a haunted castle, she feels very sorry for herself…until she sees the sexy man in the mirror that only appears to her.
Have yet to read.
Shimmerlight – Chloe Sorenson’s just started a brand new job at Ms. Muffet’s art gallery. However, no one told her that the latest auction piece – a sculpture of a handsome Roman soldier – comes to life.
short, sexy and sweet.
Darklight – When Rose Hawthorne accepts the task that her fairy godmother sets upon her, it seems straightforward enough: steal a flower from the underworld. Now, she’s been kidnapped by an all-too seductive dark god
if Hades has a bevy of handmaidens at hand, why in the world does he need Persephone? that story was held together by the fact that he was all "alone". not liking this one. pity, author usually has a wonderful twist on the classicals.
ah, voyeurism, not my fav thing to do in erotica.
oh and Hades has been quite a ladies man apparently.
ugh... perhaps it's because I've always liked this story, and most versions/adaptations of it... i really, really did not like this one.
edit: oh my bad... i should brush up on my mythology, or I can just take Aimee Carter's word: "Persephone also married one of the few gods who was faithful (save for a few unfortunate incidents with nymphs)." (from: http://harlequinblog.com/2011/04/love...)
With Callum’s help, Rapunzel just might lick this curse thing.
nice new take on Rapunzel. hilarious at times (the chamberpot), but not over the top (prince takes being dumped over minor lord quite well).
I'd give this 2.5/3 stars. I didn't love it as much as the other fairy-retelling books I've read by Myles but I didn't hate it either. I'll review each short-story individually below:
Mirrorlight- This was a pretty creative story that I really enjoyed. It's probably my second favorite out of the four short stories. My only complaint was the ending with Cora getting thrown out by her aunt. I would have liked a little conclusion to know how Aric adjusted to the new world.
Shimmerlight- Though there was one intimate scene that grossed me out with what they did, this was probably my favorite out of the four. I loved that Chloe made things special for the roman solider on their last day. Muffin didn't irritate me at all in this story, which kinda shocked me since I don't like her much. Like I said, my only complaint was that one gross scene.
Sunlight- This was an interesting twist on Rapunzel. However, the ending could have been better wrapped up... I kinda felt cheated learning who cursed Rapunzel and how easily she got out of the curse. It sorta ruined it for me.
Darklight- Was just a hot mess. There was too much info crammed into it that it got confusing at times or just didn't make much sense. I feel like this should have been drawn out into a full length novel because that reason. I don't feel that Hades really lived up to his evil-side, which is what Hades is known for. I was just expecting more out of this than what was given. Not to mention that the ending was both confusing and disappointing.
Overall, I would recommend her other fairy retelling books before this one.
Four amazing Short stories that I dearly loved and enjoyed. I got sucked into each story, feeling as though I was watching a movie in my head, the details at certain points made it come alive. I gave it four stars because I wish there was more for me to read, I have enjoyed reading Jill`s books and want more so hopefully they keep coming. The erotic scenes are not for a faint heart they are Hot, Sexy and passionate and makes you want to grab someone close just for a Hard kiss.
This was a collection of stories set in the world of Once upon a time travel series. I really enjoyed this collection a great deal. I loved the stories but I did have a few favorites. The first story Mirrorlight was pretty cool. I liked the story a great deal but I would love to get a glimpse of Cora's future with her man. The second story Shimmerlight was okay I did not love it. The statue thing was interesting but it was just okay. I am a huge fan of Rapunzel so I was excited when I got to Sunlight. This was a cool new take on the fairy tale. I loved way they explained her curse it was very well done but my favorite out of all four stories was the last Darklight. I have always had a soft spot Greek and Roman Myths so a story about Hades and Persephone automatically just made me happy. It was a great read and I was sad it had to end.
The idea is clever. Women from the 21st century get accidentally entangled into mythology by Muffin the fairy godmother. They have to solve a curse in order to stay with the mythcally endowed men ;-)
The plotting is a little loose...more focus on hormones than worry about curses, but I wanted to leave a review in support. The collection is creative & light-hearted. They are a fun read.
