I read the winter garden but there is no option for just reviewing that book by itself. If this had been the first book I read of hers, I would have not read another. The story of Leningrad is amazing but the rest of the story-the sisters and mom in present day is cheesy and repetitive. Hannah spends two hundred pages laying out how the sisters are unemotional, destroying their relationships with men because of their cold Russian mother. The story of Leningrad kept me reading and is Hannah at her finest. If it had just been the story of the war, I would have raved about the book. If you’re looking to start reading her books I would definitely recommend The Great Alone, Firefly Lane, or the nightingale.

Winter garden is an incredible story of the strength and love of women, mothers and sisters. Emotional heart wrenching story of a women’s surviving Russia during WWII.

How Front was such an emotional journey of a women leaving her family to go to war. It had my crying throughout the whole story. She takes you through all the nuances and growth of so many relationships and captures what it would be like for a military family.

Kristin Hannah writes beautiful stories about the strength and courage of women and the power of friendships. The women in her stories aren’t saved my the love of men but by their love for each other mothers and daughters, sisters, and friends!

I loved "Winter Garden," and is the only one of this set that I'v read. (Why aren't these listed separately? Strange!).

I loved the relationships in the family from mother to mother, daughter to daughter, husbands to wives and daughters. I really enjoyed learning about the Siege of Leningrad that was so brutal and cruel and yet there were some people who survived! It is remarkable what the human spirit and body can withstand.

It is another book that just speaks so loudly about how important it is foster our family relationships and keep trying even when there are problems, challenges. Family life shapes all of us.

This review is for The Night Road. What a tearjerker! I just love Kristin Hannah. This is the first book of hers I read that wasn’t historical fiction, such a beautiful story. It’s crazy how one instance can change so many people’s lives. The struggle that this family went through was absolutely heart wrenching. I loved this quote:” There was a beauty in chaos, a wildness that hinted at things gone wrong and mistakes overcome.”

a book every military hero and family should read!

I just finished the book. I’m crying. This is so well-written and emphasized an ongoing crisis in our great country. We have vets who need our help. They served our country to protect the freedoms we all take for granted daily. The world, the government, needs to take care of our people when they return and help them overcome the unimaginable sights, experiences, and fear from fighting the wars we find ourselves in time and time again. Thank you for the insight, the reality, the struggles. I enjoyed this book immensly.

I just finished reading The Winter Garden (only one of the set I’ve read) and I’m left speechless. An amazing work of historical fiction that is both heartbreaking and still so delicately heartwarming.

Unfortunately, I couldn't get into Winter Garden, so I never finished it. Night Road and Home front were excellent. Kristin certainly does her research when writing about wars and the effect on families. Thoroughly enjoyed both books.

I didn't read this edition - only Winter Garden. I didn't know how to take the wrong one out. Good read but not the intensity of the Nightingale.

I am reviewing only The Night Road--but this is how it appeared.
It is not a quality book.
I guess Hannah is hot and cold as a writer.
Was she trying to appeal to young adults in this one?
