Get a degree, get a job, save adorable foster siblings from the clutches of the evil foster mom … These are Jocylene Sanders’ top priorities as she enters her sophomore year of college. The last thing she expects is to find herself the champion of an entire kingdom. However, that is just what happens when the mysterious Faerie, Rothatin Longspear, appears to her, tasking her with saving a parallel world full of creatures from her wildest dreams.
Jocylene journeys with him into the world of Fallada, hoping for answers about her birth parents and background. What she finds is a mystifying past, and an even more uncertain future, as her heart becomes entangled with the stoic, battle-hardened Rothatin, as well as Eli, the untroubled Panther Shifter with no loyalties and no home. With her heart and soul pulled in so many directions, can Jocylene find the strength needed to become the savior one nation so desperately needs?

Jocylene is a young college girl, she is a foster child..and even thought he has aged out of the system her foster mother very begrudgingly lets her stay at home if she takes care of her foster brothers and sisters...Jocylene has a secret...she has powers, she can control the earth...and guess what? She is one of the lost princesses of Fallada...well of course someone has been sent to assassinate her and also save her...she fights back, and was doing pretty good...when her savior shows up..and basically has to kidnap her to get her to Fallada...she is very stubborn and wont go without the children....well she finds out she has made the right decision...even if it was forced..there is some romance...and I cant wait till book 3!!!
I loved this book. It was an amazing story. The characters were fun, well thought out and relatable. Alicia Michaels never stops amazing me. Up stayed up till midnight to finish this book. You won't regret buying this book and series. I am a teenager and this book is complex and so simple at the same time for me. If your a person who spends lunches at the library BUT THIS BOOK!!!
This was a truly enjoyable story, a fantasy based on fairy tales. This is the second book of the series and has guaranteed that my pockets will be emptier when the 3rd book comes out in Audible. Way to go Alicia!
From the moment she was born, Jocylene's path in life was sealed. Banished to Earth, she's lived a harsh life, but she's determined in making the most of the cards life has dealt her. In her mind, she aspires for a better life, one where she can finally acknowledge the powers she's kept under lock and key. Though, she knows that's just wishful thinking.
Unwittingly summoned back to the realm of Fallada via the help of Rothatin Longspear, a mysterious, yet quite intriguing Faerie, Jocylene soon realizes there's more to the world than she'd ever known. To her dismay, she finds out that she's destined to save the kingdom itself. The thought of doing so is mind-boggling. Such a feat is impossible, she surmises. She barely knows of what her powers contain, and she's not even trained in the art of battle.
Determined to learn as much as she can about the new world that now surrounds her, Jocylene comes to the realization that she has a lot to live up to. Not to mention that the queen of Fallada wants her dead at all cost. Though she cannot fathom as to why that is, she vows not to fall prey to her fears. Sadly, that's easier said than done.
Pulled in every direction by those she's come to trust, Jocylene does her best to understand the secrets surrounding her past. She can sort of understand why things happened the way they did, though forgiveness for those who have done her wrong is a little hard to come by. With war gathering on the horizon, she knows she needs to learn everything she needs to know as fast as possible. She's quite grateful for the help she receives every step of the way. If she's to succeed in vanquishing the evil coming her way, she'll need to fully trust herself and those she deems trustworthy in the long run.
I absolutely loved this book. It's a wonderful twist on all things fairytale. Alicia did a wonderful job in setting the stage for each of the books in the series. Granted, I started reading the second book in the series first, but it also stands as a standalone novel, so you don't really get lost in the details surrounding the realm itself. You can bet that I'll be catching up with the first book soon enough. Can't wait to see what happens next with the lost kingdom of Fallada.
This story was even better than Daughter of the Read Dawn! We are greeted by many old "friends" and meet some new ones on this new adventure. The story was a bit more emotional in feel than Daughter of the Red Dawn was. Here we not only have our found princess, but 3 small orphans she cares for as well. The under currents of this story are sad, but there's plenty of moments that will make the reader smile, a few that will make the reader sad, and a couple that will make the reader angry. Eranna is at it again, this time her target is the Dwarf city under the boarder of Mollac. Jocelyn, the younger daughter of Mollac gains some invaluable allies including our Damu princess friend Eladria and her husband Titus. Rothatin's attitude takes on some strange twists in this one that will surprise the reader. But nothing will surprise the reader more than Jocelyn's story which is splashed through the entire book with a twist so drastic the reader will be slack jawed for awhile. This is a great installment to this series, and I truly look forward to the third installment which if I'm not mistaken is where we'll meet our underwater princess from the Kingdom of Zenun. Keep up the amazing stories Alicia! I give this book 5 of 5 paws
I thoroughly enjoyed Alicia Michaels' latest installment in her The Lost Kingdom of Fallada series. It was a great read and was once again a book that was well-crafted and easy to absorb. The main character Jocylene was a character that I enjoyed from the start. I was able to empathize with her and readily wanted to follow her journey.
Her journey, just as book one, is a pretty epic one. The author creates such a vivid fantasy world, it's impossible not to get caught up in it. Also like book one, there is a clear romance running through, yet remarkable and refreshingly, the author doesn't follow the same pattern. She really mixes it up with book two. We are introduced to the strong and determined Rothatin, who is a fierce and loyal warrior. We are also introduced to Eli, a complex, yet utterly gorgeous shifter. Cue fireworks and frustration!
I was most definitely left wanting more, yet I was also a little frustrated with the development of the relationships between the characters. There's a major build up with an inconclusive ending. yes, this left me wanting more, but it also left me feeling a little disappointed.
Child of the Sacred Earth, book 2 of The Lost Kingdom of Fallada Series, was also a great book! Gah! If I love reading the Daughter of the Red Dawn, I also love reading this book!
What I think on this book: For me, it's not the same as the first book. It's more exciting with many unexpected turns that really blows my mind. I also loved it that I also got to read Selena and Titus. I really loved this couple. Anyway back to the story, this book really was full of surprises. Things got complicated that it only made the story more exciting and interesting. Jocylene, Eli, and Rothatin's story really left me wondering on what will happen next on this three. Eli and Rothatin, different personalities but you can't get enough of this two and they are easy love. The end of the story was good, and it made me excited on the next book and I'm really looking forward to it!
Ms. Alicia did it again! Another good book and it's really interesting series. I'm excited on what will happen on the next book of this series and I can't wait for it!
I am a huge fan of supernatural/paranormal/fairy tales, you name it. This series has to be one of my all time favorites. It's a great take on the medieval times (or so it seems), with a mix of mythical add to it....you have fairies, girls with powers, elves, seers, witches and well the list goes on.
I love how each book is about a different girl and her tale on finding out who & what she truly is. Each girl is important to the grand scheme of things but must overcome obstacles to accomplish what they are setting out to do.
Alicia does a great job of describing the characters, the demographics and the events that take place. She is a great story teller which makes it easy for the reader to get sucked into the world of Fallada.
If you like Lord of the Rings, Hobbit and Narnia than you will love these books. You will not be disappointed!!
I really enjoyed this book. The first one was good but I had a hard time getting into the story. Not so with this book. I really loved the characters and the story development. Jocylene is just like any other teenage or so it seems. I liked how she was a strong character, she did not back down. Her role in saving the kingdom of Fallada seems hard at first but the more "people" she meets along her journey the easier it becomes. Her feelings for the faerie and the panther were very mixed message but the care she has for both of them shines thru. When the time comes for battle she meets her mother and sister and sheds lots of tears for those around her. In the end she finds answers to some of the questions she has, like who are her parents....
Chile of Sacred Earth, so far, is my favorite in this series. Alicia, makes it so easy to fall inside the book and literally feel like you're in Fallada. While this princess, Jossie, is a bit more of a pain, she is strong willed. She would do anything to save Fallada at her first arrival. She is a princess who holds great power. While her love life it a bit more messy, I am sort of happy how it ended. I like the ending in this one better than the last. Not every ending needs a prince(or man) to swoop in and save the princess. Jossie, saves herself. She also finds someone very dear to her and I love how that turned out!! Overall a very enjoyable read. I do love this series!!
“Child of the Sacred Earth” is book 2 in “The Lost Kingdom of Fallada” series. The author’s great love of her genre is apparent in her world-building skills and one feels easily transported to a magical realm beyond our own.
I LOVED this book and Kristina Klemetti is once again the perfect narrator! Jocelyn is Princess number two to be found. She and six other princess were rounded up and abandoned by a queen afraid of losing her power. She grew up in foster care with siblings she will not leave behind. Can she believe that she is a princess with Fae blood and destined to save the world?Through love, death and war,she will. I was given this book free for an honest review.
This was a great follow-up and continuation of the story started in the first book of the series. While it has some predictability based on things mentioned and foreshadowed in the first, it was different enough to be interesting. It was nice the old characters did show up at least some in this book as well as new ones. Needed a little editing.
Love how there is always something new to every girl, in this book the second princess to be found use her earthly powers to fight evil and she has also taken on a more or less motherly role of her 3 other foster siblings. Can't wait to read the next book.
Werelepord and werebear oh my... The Brothers Grim... uncle and father to the newly found Princess of the Sacred Earth. An elven general and three human orphans from a horrid home. What a grande tale... oh and a love triangle.
Loved it. Jocelyn has a grittier story and past than Selena, and she had major anger issues! But discovering she is a princess, with awesome powers, and is necessary to fulfil the prophecy all are part of her earth-moving story.
After reading Daughter of the Red Dawn I was hooked! I went and bought the rest of The Lost Kingdom of Fallada series. I loved this book just as much as I loved Daughter of the Red Dawn.
Jocylene Sanders focus is to finish college, so she can fight for her foster siblings and get them away from that terrible foster mother. Rothatin Longspear Appears to her and tells her she needs to save Fallada and the world of men. Jocylene's heart longs for both Rothatin and Eli, a panther shifter.
I absolutely loved this book! I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. The love triangle in this book really got me.
I have no idea why I kept putting the reading of this series off, I even went out & brought the books after reading book 1 the first time.
What can I say about 'Child of the Sacred Earth'???.... hmmm well I'm kinda kicking myself from not reading it earlier as Alicia has done an amazing job continuing on her "The Lost Kingdom of Fallada" series. Please if you haven't read the prequel 'Beyond the Iron Gate' or book 1 'Daughter of the Red Dawn', do so immediately. The prequel gives you an amazingly beautiful story & more indepth history of Fallada & book 1 is the start of the prophecy.
Jocylene is a sophomore in college, her life revolves around finishing her degree, getting a good job & legally getting her foster siblings away from their evil foster mother. Jocylene has known she is different from an early age & has practiced her powers for years. Then a boy she goes to college with attacks her, then attacks her home... but things are not what they seem to Jocylene, leaving Earth for Fallada with her foster siblings in tow, her life changes for ever.
Alicia has weaved a compelling, enthralling tale, it had me at the prologue & gripped me until the last line of the epilogue. I love how each book in the series is another piece of the prophecy, each princess has her own book. The Kingdom of Fallada is described so vividly, so are all the characters... it takes me into the books completely when I'm reading. Bring on book 3, I can't wait to read it!
As more princesses join the fray their stories are well woven together. Jocelyn & Desdemona have more complex tales because of their more challenging pasts. There is a bit of a love triangle, but it is handled well.
What I love is that this is a fairy tale, but there isn't easy love, or simple happy endings. There is a lot in the line with worlds in jeopardy, young women tasked with seemingly insurmountable responsibility, and the right path isn't always clear.
It was amazing alone with all of the books in the series. I seriously could think of nothing else. As an avid reader I love it when an author can suck me into the story so much that I am enthralled with their works and can devour their books like nothing else.
